The End of My Websites

Ever since I launched Neoidentity, I’ve found real joy in building websites to host my stories. Truthfully, I probably had a bit too much fun with it. I ended up creating multiple sites, not because I needed to, but simply because I enjoyed the process and liked experimenting.

Recently, things have changed. I’ve relocated to the UK, not by choice, but because I could no longer remain in Hong Kong. At the same time, I haven't managed to establish a stable path to move to Indonesia. Since I hold British citizenship, the UK became the default option when I had nowhere else to go.

At first, this move shouldn’t have impacted any of you, beyond a possible shift in my active timezone. However, the UK is now introducing new legal requirements for any site hosting pornographic content. These rules demand what they call "robust" age verification measures.

I won’t go into the debate around this policy. What matters here is that I believe my website falls within the scope of this legislation. Despite being text-based, erotic literature is specifically included in the definition of pornographic content under the new law. That means even a story-based site like mine is expected to comply.

Even though my site is tiny and my audience is small, I can't ignore the risk of being flagged. I don’t have the means to implement the kinds of verification systems the law requires. Most of them involve costly third-party services, and simply blocking UK users wouldn’t be enough. Since I am physically located here, my site is effectively "based" in the UK from a legal perspective.

The chances of being noticed are probably very low, but I can’t afford to take that chance. I’m not in a position where I can endure legal scrutiny, especially if it leads to my real identity being connected with erotic content that would be difficult to explain to any future employer.

Because of this, I’ve made the decision to shut down all the websites I’ve created. This will happen over the next two months, which lines up with the expected timeline for the new law to come into effect.

Going forward, I plan to move all the web-versions of my stories onto Patreon. I’ll also provide a way to download an archive of the sites, so nothing is lost and those who want to preserve them for posterity can do so.

Thank you all for your support. I hope you're well, and please know that I love and appreciate every one of you.

Totally understand.

I am going to go through every single thing I have ever made and post it here. Going to take a while as there is so much of it!

I understand you'd rather be safe than sorry. It is still sad to read the announcement. Looking forward to the archives and the reposting of your content here.
