Thanks for the behind the scenes. Do you ever storyboard when working on something like this? In the few short films I’ve worked on I always found it easier to storyboard and then write the script lol

Im definitely NOT a VFX artist, but masking the branch is more of an editing move than a VFX move imo. I'm pretty good about that kind of thing.
But actually creating objects and animating them on screen...not my area of expertise.

How comfortable would you say you are in f/x software like After Effects, etc. vs. Video Editing software? You mentioned doing the masking of the branch and I'm curious how much you feel comfortable with those sorts of things.
Thanks for providing this BTS look. Really nice insights into the process. :-)

I mean color grading it. The raw footage can look very bland, so it's just me trying to make it "pop" a little more.
There's a really sophisticated way of doing it, but I'm actually color blind, so I have a lot of limitations to doing it properly. So I bought what's called a LUT's package of premade color gradings, and just see which one I think works best. I still have control of intensity and can fine tune it, but I'll most likely never be able to color grade properly.

Loved the insight into your creative process and working with an outside VFX artist. Thank you!

Thanks for this video! When you say "throw a layer of color over it" towards the end of the video, what does that mean?
