V1P13 (WIP color).2

Trying to finalize the color.  I know I need to go back and touch up panel 3.  I know with working with the tablet I'll be more faster and the more I work with it.  I know I'm slow.  I feel I'm improving though.  I know I want to put out 1 page a week though I know I want to push out more.  I just got to get used to doing the linework and coloring digitally.  I know I zoom real close when I'm working and I know that doesn't help.  I know one day getting a Cintiq would help me a lot too cause I know I can draw out pages faster traditionally but the linework can be a little messy. :P

I'm constantly looking over my work. When I finish I set my piece as my wallpaper so I can look at it when I'm not doing anything and I just pay attention to the details or mistakes. I'm still thinking about how I should color my pages. I'm leaning towards mostly flat with some shading and light for the characters so they pop from the background. Though I want to find a way that is somewhat not as time consuming so I can keep the pages coming.

Well I remember using a tablet was good because you draw directly on the image. That is probably where having a good stylus comes in- I fought with a few too many which just did not give enough control. At the time I ended up with the WACOM Creative Stylus 2. Then came the Cintiq 22 HD display - which cost an absolute fortune in those days. I still have it and have to hope it lasts a lot longer. Maybe you can check back to Amazon or one of those to see if the prices ever come down. I admit “cheating” by doing sketches by hand, then scanning / importing them as a background layer and digitally inking over the image. Digital also has the benefit that you can zoom out / flip the image. Flipping the image was a rude surprise but I learned to like it as a way to “see” with fresh eyes. Zooming out helps with composition and First Read / Second Read.
