Reading Raven

Here is Raven's animated pinup, you can also consider it a room showcase. I wanted to make sure I got the lighting right before showing it off (the room). Here is a wide view,

I use this view to make sure that the lighting is consistent around the whole room, you're actually supposed to use a panoramic view but the render engine I use doesn't support that.

Here's a viewport lower level shot of the room:

I made the decision to have the whole scene lit with candles and a hex circle in accordance with the references I used. You can now understand why when I made the PB animation I opted for a dark environment to practice to see if I could make it look good.

The showcase hasn't been a priority at all as I work on the short but i'll finish it for next Sunday and then lock in until the short's finished, I may show a scene or screenshots if it feels polished though. In the week I will probably start a discord so ideas and what not can be floated around.

Anyhow hope you like it. Bye Bye.

EDIT: added room pictures, I suppose it didn't successfully get added when I originally added them, so I re-uploaded.

Yes but not significantly. The candles use point lights which emits light rays in every direction so it takes longer to calculate than let's say a flat 'area' light but for the amount i'm using in the scene (8 or 10 off the top of my head) it shouldn't really affect render times that much.

Not difficult at all, you just need to plan the color scheme before actually doing anything and decide where each color will be and to what degree/intensity.

I like the idea of using candles for lighting fits raven's mood and theme well. Would that also affect the rendering as well?

Looking good! The warm/cold light contrast is cool but I was wondering how much of a pain it is to do? Good job!
