It was eleven o'clock at night, and Christian was sitting alone eating a piece of cake that he had bought at the store after work. He let out a long sigh before putting the half-eaten cake down on his desk. “Another wasted birthday, spent working and being alone.”

Christian wiped his face, got off his chair and went and lay on his bed. “This sucks…” He said as he looked up at the ceiling. “I wish I could start my life over again… from when I was eighteen, then I’d do things completely differently.”

He said as he closed his eyes. “Yeah… that would be nice…” He said as he drifted off to sleep. As he fell asleep, the window next to his bed slowly pushed itself open, and through it a tiny little brown-haired fairy came inside.

“Hhmmmmmm, I don’t normally go around granting wishes for humans… but you seem pretty genuine.” The fairy said as she floated above Christian. “I suppose I could grant one wish, just this once, since it’s your birthday.”

The fairy lifted her hand and was about to grant Christian’s wish but stopped. She suddenly smiles. “Of course, I think I’ll make a few changes to go with this new life of yours. I’m sure you’ll love them.”

The fairy said right before waving her hand, granting Christian’s wish.

Melody had no idea the fairy was there or that she granted her wish. Melody was sound asleep, and she stayed like that until morning came around and someone started pounding on her door. “MELODY!!!! Wake up already!!!”

A woman said from the other side of Melody’s bedroom. Melody sat up quickly in a panic, as up until yesterday she lived alone. “Who? Who's there?” Melody yelled out as she looked at the door. There was a moment of silence before the woman spoke up again.

“It’s me… your roommate and friend Ryles??? Did you hit your head or something???” She asked, sounding worried. Melody tilted her head. “Roommate? I haven’t had a roommate since I was… eighteen…”

Melody’s face suddenly looked excited. “My wish… it came true?” She jumped up and ran into her bathroom to see if her body was younger, just like it was all those years ago. However, she was met with quite a surprise when she saw herself.

“WHAT THE HECK!!!!” Melody yelled as she looked at herself. “I’m-I’m a gi-gi-girl…” Melody said as she placed her hand on her face. Her face was smaller and softer, without a single facial hair anywhere on it.

“Why???” Melody asked, confused, as she took her hand and ran it through her much longer hair. “In what world does granting my wish… turn me into a girl as well?” Melody said as she looked down at her chest, which stuck out now thanks to having breasts.

Her face got bright red. She then pressed her legs closer together, feeling that there clearly wasn't anything between them anymore. “It’s gone… I’m really a girl now… what am I supposed to do now? I don’t know anything about being a girl…”

As Melody started panicking, Ryles, her new roommate, knocked on her bedroom door again. “I swear, Melody, it takes you forever to get dressed. Hurry up and get out here!” Ryles yelled, sounding not mad but excited.

Melody looked towards the door. “I guess being a girl… explains why my roommate is a girl as well…” Melody looked at herself in the mirror again and got embarrassed. She then quickly left the bathroom, trying to avoid thinking about it.

“Alright… I’m a girl now… and I have no idea how to reverse that… or if I can… At the same time… I’m clearly eighteen again…” Melody walked back and forth through her room thinking and trying to process things.

“I can’t possibly start over from eighteen and live as a girl, can I? That would be so strange… it would be embarrassing… and most importantly it might be quite hard…” Melody said right before suddenly stopping.

She looked at her closet. “I guess… I have to start somewhere… So I’ll try getting dressed… I better be quick, as my roommate is bound to come back. For some reason she really wants to see me this morning.”

Melody walked over to her closet and opened it, and inside was filled with the girliest clothes Melody had ever seen. Given her new body, it wasn't surprising, but it meant no matter what she picked to wear, it was going to be super feminine.

After digging around for a while, the most normal things she found were a pair of black shorts and a frilly pink top with no sleeves. “I guess these will have to do.” Melody said as she left the closet and walked over to her dresser.

She opened the dresser up, and inside it was filled with panties, socks and a couple bras. Melody’s face got bright red as she looked at the feminine undergarments. “Right… I guess as a girl… I wear panties and a bra…”

Melody said as she slowly picked one pair of panties out, along with a matching bra. “Alright Melody… don’t think about it… just put it on.” She said as she lifted her bra up, slid her arms through it and clasped it on, and without messing up once.

Once it was tightly secured to her body, she noticed her breasts didn’t feel as heavy, and suddenly she felt a bit more relaxed. “Wow… that’s actually… nice.” She said as she grabbed the panties and slid them on.

After that came her shorts and shirt, meaning she was now fully dressed, which was good, as her roommate had come back and started knocking again. This time Melody opened the door and found herself face-to-face with her new roommate for the first time.

She was a cute brown-haired woman with green eyes and hair in twin tails, and strangely, she was wearing a birthday hat. She smiled when she saw Melody, then without saying anything she pulled out another birthday hat and placed it on Melody’s head.

“Happy birthday, Melody!!!” She yelled while tossing confetti that seemingly came out of nowhere. Melody was a bit surprised. “My birthday?” She muttered. “Yup, you’re officially eighteen today!!! Wait, don’t tell me you forgot your own birthday,” Ryles said, looking surprised.

Melody let out an awkward laugh. “No… of course not… for some reason I thought it already passed…” Ryles shook her head. “No way I’d forget one of my bestie’s birthdays. Now come to the kitchen; I have a surprise!” she said as she ran off.

Melody found herself curious, and not wanting to stay in her room and freak out about being a girl, she followed Ryles to the kitchen. When Melody got in there, Ryles suddenly turned around and revealed a birthday cake.

It looked amazing, much better than the slice Melody had bought for herself before. “It’s amazing…” Melody said as she looked at it in awe. Melody then looked up and around the kitchen, which had dirty dishes everywhere.

“Did… did you make this yourself?” Melody asked as she looked back at Ryles. Ryles nodded. “Sure did. I woke up very early this morning to make it.” Ryles said as she placed it down on the counter.

Melody covered her face and tears started to fall down her face.

When Ryles turned around, she noticed Melody was upset and that worried her. “Melody… are you alright? Do you not like it? I can get rid of...” Ryles was cut off by Melody jumping forward and hugging her.

“No… it’s perfect… thank you…” Melody said as she hugged Ryles tightly. Ryles let out a relieved smile. “Well, I’m glad you’re happy. Now what say we try this cake and start our amazing day? We’re doing all your favorite things today, plus we don’t want to keep the others waiting.”

Melody let go of Ryles and tilted her head. “Others?” She asked. Ryles nodded. “Yup, the rest of our friends are waiting to spend the day with you. You know Nadine, Stef, Gwen, and Hope.” Melody let out a big smile. “I have a lot of friends.” Melody whispered to herself.

“What was that?” Ryles asked as she cut the cake and handed a piece to Melody. “It was nothing; I’m just excited to try the cake.” She said as she took the fork and picked up a piece. It was a normal cake, just like the one she had last night, but something about this one was different.

She actually wanted to finish it and perhaps get a second piece, but her new friends were waiting for her, so she’d have to come back for it later. As she and Ryles left their apartment to start having birthday fun, Melody found herself wondering about her wish.

It was nice to be young and to have friends, but being a girl was going to be a bit tough. She was going to have to cope with being a girl and learn to live like one, and that included all the things that came with it, but that might not be so bad, as already this do-over birthday was better than the one where she was alone.
