Cursed Object: Wedding Ring (Ea)

For a long time, inside the woods located just outside of Heath City, lay a small chapel surrounded by the most beautiful trees and flowers. When it was around, it was most commonly used to host wedding ceremonies.

However, a tragedy occurred nearly a hundred years ago. During a wedding, one of the candles that was lit tipped over, rolled off the table it was on, and made its way towards a curtain. That caused a massive fire to break out.

The fire quickly spread from that point, and while most of the people attending the wedding made it out safely, the bride and groom did not make it out. People who were there said the bride’s dress had gotten caught when she was running, and the groom went to help her.

After that the fire spread too quickly and neither of them came out. So what was supposed to be a very special day turned out to be one of the worst tragedies to ever occur there. After that the chapel was abandoned, with no one stepping foot in it again.

At least that was the case until Jacen stepped inside it. He had inherited the chapel from his grandfather and was here checking out the damage. He knew about the tale and what happened here and wanted to see if it was possible to restore the chapel.

The fire did a bit of damage, but being abandoned seemed to cause the most damage. Jacen walked through it slowly, worried the ceiling might come falling down. He made his way to the altar, the place the poor couple spent their last moments.

Jacen felt bad for them; it was such a horrible end. On top of that, they were never truly able to marry each other. Jacen ran his hand over the altar while hoping that somehow the two of them found peace.

As he thought that, he heard a woman's voice. Jacen quickly turned around and saw a woman with orange hair wearing a wedding dress standing behind him. As strange as that was, what was even stranger was the fact that Jacen could see right through her.

Jacen took a step back and gulped, then asked the woman if she was a ghost. She nodded and then pointed behind Jacen. Jacen raised an eyebrow and asked her what she was pointing at. The woman wasn’t able to answer, but she didn’t stop pointing.

Jacen, slightly worried, turned around and looked to where she was pointing. Jacen was surprised to see a wedding ring on the altar. Jacen looked at the woman and asked her if she wanted him to put it on. The woman smiled and nodded again.

Jacen turned back towards the altar and picked up the ring. He then took it and slipped it over his ring finger. Once it was in place on his hand, it suddenly flashed with a bright light, one so bright Jacen couldn’t see.

When her vision returned, Jacen found herself no longer standing in front of the altar, but instead she was in the side room used by the bride to get ready before a wedding. That itself was strange, but what was even stranger was the fact that the chapel seemed to be fully repaired.

Jacen was amazed and took a step forward as she looked around, which nearly caused her to trip because of something on the ground. Jacen caught herself before that and looked down to see what it was.

She wasn’t expecting to find that she nearly tripped on a long white dress or that she was the one wearing the dress. Jacen let out an awkward laugh as she put her hand on her head and said she must be seeing things.

When her hand hit her head, she felt something was attached to her hair. Jacen had no idea what it was, but she had an idea. She looked around the room and noticed a mirror set up nearby. She slowly walked over to it and looked at herself.

She let out a loud gasp as she looked at herself; well, it wasn't exactly herself she was seeing. Sure, it was definitely her standing there, but for some reason she looked just like the ghost of the woman she had seen before putting on the ring.

The same long orange hair, the same beautiful white wedding dress and the same very feminine body. Jacen let out an awkward laugh as she looked down at her breasts. She thought she had lost her mind, but then she remembered the news talking about things called cursed objects.

That sort of made sense when it came to her body changing, but the chapel was clearly fixed in the process, which was crazy. She’d never heard them mention a cursed object being able to fix buildings before, but cursed items were still very unknown, so it was possible.

Jacen puffed her cheeks, wondering what she was supposed to do. She also found herself wondering why the ghost wanted this to happen to her. As she sat there thinking, someone came walking into the room, which really surprised Jacen.

It was even more surprising when it turned out to be Jacen’s mother. Jacen’s jaw dropped and she asked her mother what she was doing here. Her mother seemed confused for a moment, then asked Jaclyn if she was feeling okay.

Jaclyn got even more confused hearing her mother refer to her using a female name instead of the male one she had used her entire life. Jaclyn’s mother then asked Jaclyn if she remembered that today was her wedding.

Jaclyn let out an awkward laugh and said there was no way. Jaclyn’s mother seemed worried and came over and placed her hand on Jaclyn’s forehead. She then said Jaclyn didn’t have a fever, so she must just be nervous.

Jaclyn muttered to herself that it was a bit more than just nerves. Her mother told her she was beautiful and that Kaleb was a wonderful man, and the two of them were sure to live long, happy lives together.

Jaclyn’s heart suddenly felt warm and she felt overjoyed just hearing the name Kaleb. Her heart clearly knew him, but her mind didn’t. Jaclyn’s mother then told her that her father would be here in a few minutes to walk her down the aisle. She then left, leaving Jaclyn standing there.

Jaclyn stood there staring at herself in the mirror, thinking this was all crazy. It was like reality had been rewritten, and somehow, not only was she a woman, but she was about to get married in a chapel that should have been destroyed.

She really should be running out of here right about now, but some part of her wanted this, wanted to stay here. Jaclyn lifted her hand and was about to look at the ring that she had put on, but it was gone.

Jaclyn wondered if the ghost was simply using her to get the wedding she never got. So perhaps the only way to reverse these changes was to go through with this. It seemed like the only logical thing to do, so Jaclyn decided to go through with this wedding, even if it was embarrassing to be the bride.

After waiting a bit, Jaclyn’s father came to collect her. He took her by the arm and led her to the doors that led to the main area of the chapel. They stood there waiting for the music to begin, and when it did, Jaclyn and her father entered.

Light blinded Jaclyn for a moment, but when her vision came back, she saw tons of people. On one side were her friends and family, and on the other was presumably the friends and family of her soon-to-be husband.

Jaclyn looked down the aisle and saw Kaleb. He was tall and handsome, and just the sight of him made her heart beat quickly. As she took her first step forward, suddenly memories of him and their time together in this alternate world filled Jaclyn’s head.

Each step after that added more and more, and by the time Jaclyn got up next to him, she knew everything about him. It was so bizarre; she basically just met him, yet now in her mind she feels like she's known him forever.

Jaclyn’s father kissed her on the forehead and then went to sit down. Kaleb then took Jaclyn’s hands and smiled at her, after which the wedding ceremony began. The priest said his part, and then Jaclyn and Kaleb said their wedding vows, speaking purely from their hearts.

After that they said their "I dos" and placed the rings on and then kissed. Jaclyn’s beating heart slowed as his lips met hers and she suddenly felt more peaceful than ever. Once their lips separated, Jaclyn heard the woman's voice again.

Jaclyn turned her head and saw the ghost of the woman and the man she was supposed to marry. The man looked just like Kaleb, which made a lot of sense. They thanked Jaclyn for this gift, and then the two vanished.

Jaclyn felt happy knowing they were finally able to move on but then realized something. She was still a woman, and in this altered reality, she now had the memories to fit it and even the same love and devotion for her husband that the ghost had for hers. Things were going to be interesting from here on out, especially since they were now off to their honeymoon.

I don't usually do bad things with them, but should I? Should I make some horror stories where cursed objects go wrong or have bad effects?

You know, I'm starting to be a little afraid of "Cursed Objects" myself. They're already rewriting reality and transmitting the will of the dead... I'm scared to imagine what REALLY dangerous Cursed Objects are capable of... destroying half the galaxy's creatures?!
