The image of the swordsman who drove Muzan into a corner and nearly beheaded him superposing with Tanjiro is one of my favorites of the whole show ! Something to remember is that both this legendary swordsman and Tanjiro's swords were black and they turned red for a certain amount of time before returning to normal. If you remember, Nichirin Swords take on a distinct color when first drawn by its owner. When Tanjiro got his sword, it turned black. Urokodaki told Tanjiro that not many people end up with black blades so little is known about them. So little in fact that black blades are said to be wielded by swordsmen who'll never go far. They are considered a bad omen. Like Tanjiro, it turns out that the swordsman who almost got Muzan had a black blade who turned bright red.

Mitsuri's sword isn't made out of different material than the other swords. just like one of the earlier comments above mentioned, her forms look like ribbon dances which tends to cause a misunderstanding in regards to the material of her sword. In season 1 it's revealed that Shinobu (butterfly hashira) needed a modified sword because she can't wield a normal one since it's too heavy for her and she wanted a sword that could deliver poison. Because of that modification, it is assumed that Mitsuri's sword was modified to make it lighter so it could move like a ribbon. THIS IS WRONG! Mitsuri's sword wasn't modified to be lighter, it is in fact a heavy long thin piece of metal that can only be wielded by Mitsuri. Basically, what this tells us is that for her sword to move as smoothly as a ribbon and still be completely made of nichirin means that her strength is at a level which creates that illusion. Anyways, just wanted to bring notice to this really cool design. And if you listen carefully you can hear her sword makes a noise when it moves (not when it is coming into contact with a demon) that sounds like heavy sheet metal rippling. I was very pleased about that because when reading manga there's no sound so a lot of people sometimes missed that her sword wasn't a ribbon. Thanks for great reactions, you two!
