Fruits Basket - 2x20 REACTION!!

Comments

Hi there! I'm also jumping on the bandwagon after being recommended your Fruits Basket reaction on youtube. Thank you both for being such kind, wonderful people! I love how attentive you've both been to the story and really looking into its themes and appreciating the characters! Fruits Basket is one of those stories I read as a manga while it was still publishing in the 00's, back when I was in high school. It's forever left a huge impact on me. To this day, I still think about many of metaphors/lessons Fruits Basket used (such as kindness coming in different shapes or washing the laundry at your feet when you feel overwhelmed). I'm truly grateful to have come across this series at a time when I really needed it, and I'm so happy to see the new anime bring this story to more people! I grew up in a very isolated town in a very strict culture. I'm also gay, which was seen as the lowest of the low where I grew up. It was treated as being worse and more disgusting than a murderer or child abuser, which was not the best for my sense of self growing up, lol. Fruits Basket was one of those first stories that made me feel like it was possible for me to be loved and be a good person, despite what everyone told me! I really related to Kyo - being treated as an "outsider" in the home I was born into, and as a "monster" even by people I loved (for something I was simply born as). I love how much Fruits Basket's characters and their stories can be interpreted and related to by so many people. No, none of us are literally possessed by Zodiac animals, but all of us have had struggles that we can in some way see ourselves in with these characters! It's so lovely how all the characters are so fleshed out and real, so we all have things we can identify with! I'm very excited to see the rest of your journey through this amazing story! It's full of so much laughs, tears, and love! And it's such a powerful exercise in empathy! I feel so very proud of Yuki and his growth through the series, so I'm excited to have caught up with your videos just in time for this episode! Thank you again for being such wonderful people with such wonderful thoughts! I've really enjoyed catching up on all your reactions and hearing all of your insights! I hope you continue to enjoy the story as I much so many of us have, and that it can leave a lasting positive effect!

Hello, I, like many others am new to your pattern. I came here after finding your fruits basket reaction on YouTube and have binged watched them all up until this point. I could not be happier to have found you two. I love how considerate you are of the characters and the storyline. I think one of my favorite things that you can clearly see happening at this part of the story is how our cast is changing, especially in how they begin to show compassion for others. Remember early on in the series when Yuki was talking about the day Tohru's mom died? He saw her run from the classroom and just assumed something bad had happened and then put it out of his mind. Compare that Yuki to who we just saw with Machi, encouraging her to share what's bothering her. He's a completely different person. Kyo also has many different examples of this that aren't just centered around Tohru (though that's when se see it the clearest.) It's obvious in how he interacts with the other zodiacs vs early in the show, especially with how he responded to Kagura's confession. This is a character who used to run away from dealing with any emotions, his own and other's. Now, he recognizes the importance of being there for people when they're emotional, and he actively supports the people who need him. This is the part of the anime that always reminds me of what Tohru said early in the anime. People aren't born kind, it's something they have to be taught, and something that grows with them. It's one of the many lines in Fruits Basket that makes you just pause. And you think, wow, that's a really great life lesson. But when analyzing the show, you realize it's also one of the main themes of the anime. Yuki and Kyo learned from Tohru how to be kind, and now, we are watching their kindness grow with each episodes. I can honestly say this anime inspires me to be a better person and I don't know any other anime that has done that for me, so thank-you so much for reacting to this show.
