Gentle´s backstory elevates the show for me, it is not the cliche of heroes anymore. In all the hero media i´ve consumed never did I see an unexperienced hero wanna be dude interfere in a rescue while wanting to help, it usually goes well. Then how their parents treat them. For me it was also how his classmate forgot him when he wanted to become a man written in textbooks. I´ve experienced that, elementary school classmates that I spent 7 years with dont remember me anymore and I do remember them, that feels horrible I dont know how to explain, but props to gentle and his values for not becoming a worse criminal. I´ve seen some crashout villains for way less.

I hope that Gentle will be able to turn his life around and maybe even become a hero after he gets out of jail. It was his original dream to become a great hero, and I feel that he definitely has the skills and heart to become one. Question for the people who know MHA lore well (without spoilers please), are you able to take the hero exam at any age? And are people who have a criminal record still able to become heroes, or will that disqualify them? We've seen Midoriya, Iida, and Todoroki violate these same rules that Gentle violated when they fought against Stain without a hero license/provisional license. A lot of people didn't see anything wrong with their actions and agreed with Todoroki when he got angry at the chief of police. But we see their situation in a positive light because they were able to succeed, and Stain got arrested. But what if someone died or got hurt because of their actions? What if something worse happened to Native or some bystanders? Gentle, just like our UA trio, tried to step in and save someone. But unfortunately for him, it ended up interfering with another hero's efforts and the situation became worse. Having good intentions doesn't mean that you are right to act in these situations. To relate this to our real world, have you heard of Homeboy Industries? They're an organization in LA dedicated to helping former gang members and former incarcerated individuals who are trying to turn their lives around and re-enter society. They have a ton of programs to help set them on the right path, such as mental health services, free tattoo removal, employment courses, and more. They also have two businesses, Homeboy Diner and Homegirl Cafe, that help provide jobs for the people in their programs as well. A lot of times, people will refuse to hire those who have a criminal record. But if you don't give people a second chance, how do you expect them to get out of this lifestyle and contribute to society?
