2025-03-31 01:02:47 +0000 UTCI couldn’t tell for sure, but I think Jared or maybe both may have missed the significance of the title of the story the journalist said he would publish. It was something like, “When the Greatest Hero was Young,†implying it would be many, many years before he would publish the story, and that Deku would already be the greatest hero by that time, so it wouldn’t matter. So I guess technically he’s holding onto the story for himself, but for good reason to help out Deku / Allmight. That’s probably much easier to pick up on in the dub though. It also helps having meta knowledge that the first episode of each season is basically an anime-only recap episode, similar to the pool episode for S3. So the reporter is just a clever way the writers thought of to go over all 20 quirks in Class A again to remind the audience.

2025-03-29 22:28:54 +0000 UTCHahah I understand your distrust for journalists but I promise this one is in the clear. This was a sweet one off episode/filler to recap and reintroduce characters, and to subtly show early signs of how people are feeling about All Might's retirement through this journalist. The dynamic around his intentions did change once the episode revealed All Might saved his dad, that scene gives me chills every time lol. Early My Hero tends to lean more idealistic than realistic (a big reason why I love it btw) so don't feel bad for doubting whether a journalist, especially one as impressive as this, could somehow resist the overwhelming human urge to publish such an enormous story, with all the fame and attention it would bring. Great reaction as always!
