This scene in the original manga blew me away. It was here that I knew I was hooked, and re-watching it in this anime, pushed this to be my favorite anime of all time. The flashbacks to Kyo's past, the music in the background, the voice acting of the hard and soft moments, all makes this my all time favorite scene of anything. Tohru not giving up on him, despite being scared, always stuck in the back of my mind when I felt scared about doing something or confronting someone about something uncomfortable. Kyo being vulnerable and finally giving in to his heart, letting himself speak about his past and insecurities, showed me what it means to take that leap of faith. I just love all of it, glad you enjoyed it too!

2025-04-05 09:23:52 +0000 UTCNot sure if you’ll see this in time, but you might want to skip or close your eyes during the Season 2 opening song since it does reveal some of the Zodiacs—it’s totally up to you! Also, there are 12 Zodiacs, and you’ve met 10 of them (technically 11 if you count an unofficial one, since Kyo isn’t part of the 12). That means you still have 2 more to meet, or 13 in total if you include Kyo. Hope that makes sense… lol!

2025-03-30 03:25:01 +0000 UTCThis is my favourite episode of the season because of how Tohru runs after Kyo, and despite him throwing her off of him and thinking to himself that he will do whatever it takes for him to make Tohru hate him she grabs him and holds on for dear life and tells him that even though she is scared of him and disgusted by the smell she still wants to get the know the real Kyo the one deep down underneath all the hatred and wants to help him get through all those tough times and will accept him for who he truly is.

Tohru is so genuine and honest (her love is) and it got through Kyo like a bullet piercing through an armor. This anime is soooo beautiful :'((

2025-03-28 23:43:16 +0000 UTCi always thought he looked a little like charizard the pokemon. and when yall mentioned hxh, i thought he had a similar build to those yellow beasts or wtv at the very beginning of the exam that gon was able to tell apart despite them all looking the same. i forget their names so idk if i explained that right anyway that hug that looked like he was going in for a kiss killed me my first watch like damnnnn, the author was playing w us there 100% cause i rlly thought it was gonna happen. also im curious abt who yall are rooting for to end up w tohru? ive been team kyo since the first time i saw him in the 2001 version when i was like 8 yrs old and ive never felt differently

It was horrible, of course, but so many people are unfairly harsh toward him afterward without understanding why it happened. At that moment, he reminded me of a cornered animal—afraid, desperate, and lashing out as a defense. He was terrified that Tohru’s acceptance was out of obligation or pity, not genuine choice. For someone who had never truly been chosen before, that fear was overwhelming. Sadly, many traumatized kids react this way, pushing others away to protect themselves from the hurt they think is inevitable. I’ve worked with children who struggle to accept kindness because they’re convinced it won’t last. Kyo truly believed scaring Tohru off was his best option, even though it wasn’t the right one. But Tohru—our incredible girl—refused to leave him. If she had, it would’ve confirmed Kyo’s deepest fear: that he was someone easily abandoned. Instead, she chose to stay, even at risk to herself, proving her kindness and emotional strength. Also, a heartbreaking fact: Takaya originally planned for Kyo to commit suicide if Tohru didn’t go after him. That’s why she says, “Let’s go home… otherwise, I have a feeling Kyo-kun won’t come back.” The scene of the door closing was meant to symbolize that, but thankfully, she changed her mind and had Tohru save him instead. Anyway, thank you so much for understanding Kyo. It means a lot, and I love that you see the similarities between him and Bakugo—there’s definitely a reason they’re both my favorites. 💜

It's pronounced like "neck-oh" - neko is the Japanese word for cat (Kat is my name irl 😉). Like "Nekoma" the cats in Haikyu!! If you listen throughout fruba you'll hear it when folks talk about Kyo too! Something I find interesting between the sub/dub in this episode (1x24) is when we meet Kazuma they call him Shisho in sub, but Sensei in dub. While Sensei makes sense as "teacher" since he taught the Somas in martial arts, the sub is using Shisho which translates to "master" - as in a master of arts. The word Shisho would also apply to other arts, like painting or crafting. In this case, I just found the language choice interesting and think that "Master" hits a bit harder. It also emphasizes Kazuma's skill and status in martial arts. This is a good example of why I watch all of my favorite anime in both sub and dub. Each format has it's own strengths and when I love something, I want to squeeze out every drop of feeling and every detail of story that I can get! Love you guys and your thoughtful reactions. The way it just hits you right in the gut, and makes you feel strongly for Kyo as well as Tohru, is just incredible to me. Kyo just needed someone to be real and honest with him, and not put on a facade of "love". To have someone acknowledge you fully and still stay with you is everything. I can't believe you're almost done with season 1! The next two seasons get even better, I am so very excited for you guys! Thank you for making my Thursdays better, I've been dealing with some horrible migraines for more than a month straight now, so day to day life has been really hard. But watching yall react (on extremely low brightness lol) always makes me feel better, so thank you 💜
