*spoiler-ish* Now that J&J have gone by this episode I can just laugh at the fact that I always end up liking these "calm or indifferent" characters - only to find that they're actually incredibly traumatized or damaged. 😅 Please help me to save them allllll ❤

Tengen is my favorite character in this anime!!! My gf gifted me the lego swords he wields and they are sitting on the shelf now! Muichiro is my second favorite and very misunderstood and then Rengoku my third! I love Tanjiro and Nezuko, Zenitsu and Inosuke, but these Hashiras have stole my heart and are very well written!!!

I totally understand Sanemi's skepticism for sure! But what rubbed me the wrong way was that he clearly acted behind the master's orders by stealing Nezuko's box and stabbing her before the clear plan of testing her resistance. Plus his obvious sadism when he stabs her (sadism as in he clearly enjoyed it). I know that it wasn't personal and any demon in Nezuko's place would have been satisfying to him, and again I do understand where he's coming from.

I mean I love Nezuko but Sanemi has every reason to act that way so it never really bothered that much. Plus he didn’t over do it with the stabbing

Muichiro first sighting!!! *faints* There's a serious life/death issue up in here and the man is wondering about the clouds and birds.  😍 I'm always drawn to the calm or indifferent characters. (Muichiro, Shoto, Kenma) Strength combined with a sort of apathy is so comforting, it's the high resistance to emotional outbursts. Need some balance for my own volatility 😅

I always have to brace myself for Sanemi's introduction because if I try to punch him, i'll only damage my computer and that would be sad. But yeah, I was tearing my hair out watching Nezuko get stabbed multiple times.

This time I will share the meaning of 'Hashira'. This means "pillar", so these are the people who are the "pillars" of the Demon Slayer Corps, the strongest who hold up the rest of the organization. As for the 'Master' confusion, the terms used were different. The kakushi referred to the wind hashira as Shinazugawa-sama, the "sama" of which is a respectful method of addressing someone of a higher rank, in this case a hashira. To refer to the "Master of the Demon Slayer Corps" was actually the title of the episode, 'Oyakatasama', which means more "Master of the household". And finally, as others have mentioned, we're coming up against the end of the season, and you have a choice on how you want to watch the next arc (storyline). First is the movie, highest grossing anime film ever (for good reason), or you can watch the exact same thing split over six episodes as episodes 2-7 of season 2. Episode 1 of season 2 is a sort of prequel, not from the manga, and can be watched before or after the movie/eps2-7. For all of us who saw the movie in theaters, we saw that episode after, so however you decide to do it is fine.

One of the worst cliffhangers of the show, haha. I like that you already know that you’re going to love the Hashira. One of the greatest things about this show is that every single character from the demons to the hashira has a highly developed character and back story so each one is unique and appeals in different ways to different people. It seems every fan has a different favourite hashira, I’m interested to see who becomes yours by the end of the series. We have briefly met the master a couple of times but never seen his face before now. We first saw him after the final selection when he commented that 5 of his children had survived. Now we see that he calls all corps members his children. Also we are approaching the end of season one, from here there will not so much be seasons but rather “arcs” single plot lines that are contained in a number of episodes that are released together.

hello, J&J! new patreon member here (but i've been your YT subscriber since 2 yrs ago). a demon slayer reaction is all it took for me to finally subscribe to membership here. this is my favorite anime of all time just next to dragon ball.🥳 i've been waiting for this episode. you finally got to meet my favorite character in this entire series, the “master”. he's not just the hashiras’ master, but also the leader/head of the entire demon slayer corps. thus why he calls the demon slayers “my children”. his biological children though are the identical ones you saw assisting him/hosting the final selection few episodes back; one of them is also my favorite character in this show too so i'm excited for you both to know more about them later on in the series.💜 also, to clarify your confusion, the kakushi called sanemi ‘master’ is because he is a hashira and they are technically above the rest of the demon slayers. i’ve been having so much fun experiencing this show all over again with you guys. ☺️

If I remember correctly, Seppuku is a type of honorable suicide that involves slicing open your stomach horizontally with a short sword. I've read that that they are usually occupied by another swordsmen, who is tasked with beheading the one committing seppuku, as a sign of mercy. I interpreted that's how Rui's parents planned to "atone for their sin" after killing Rui. To atone for the sin of their son killing another and for the act of killing their son.

Hey J&J I have a big question for you. After you finish the first season of Demon Slayer are you going to watch the mugen train movie? this is my favourite anime movie ever, about my favourite Hashira <3. if you want you can watch the 1 episode before the movie bc its an filler episode and not canon, just for information. than the movie as one long anime movie reaction. I think it will be a really good video to watch bc the movie happens right after season one. I think the animation is even better in the movie than the anime. after the movie you can skip episode 2-7 of the mugen train arc in the anime bc its actually the same. then right into season 2 lets goooo. The movie is absolute peak and the most succsessful anime movie ever. Im excited how you decide but if your going to watch the movie it will be absolutely breathtaking.

It’s not really the point of stabbing your stomach it’s technically slitting it sideways to ensure that you’ll die, which I didn’t really like about Japanese History, but if they find honour in doing so then I’ll respect it but doesn’t mean I agree with the practice, I’m sure they now outlawed it after World War 2. I tend to find the less likeable characters likeable lol and I like their personalities they’re usually really funny and not counting Mineta but most characters have actually strength and the brains to back up their cockiness.

I used to get confused with the way first and last names are used in Japanese too. But from video games and anime my understanding is the common thing is calling someone by their last name or family name (they actually write and say surnames first), you only use someone's given name or "first" name if they are someone close like family or close friends, I think it's disrespectful when a stranger uses it since it's considered very personal to use a person's first name in japan

Seppuku is honorable suicide; samurais would use their swords to commit seppuku, as a way to atone for grave mistakes or shame. The letter said that if Nezuko attacks a human, Tanjiro, Giyu, and Urokodaki would all commit seppuku.

That Fun Fact is a ✨️SPOILER✨️ bestie~ that's a plot point that hasn't been revealed yet, but will be relevant in the story later on. And THEN at that point we are to recognize that Nezuko's resistance to his blood was that much more impressive, knowing that he was one all along~

FINALLY!! Been waiting for yall to meet the hashiras! There are many new names to learn but they are easily recognizable by their looks which is my favorite thing about this anime. How the characters looks fits so well with their skills. Might not be the best first impression for some of them, but I know you guys will come to love them as the series goes on. It will only get more intense and interesting from now on. Can’t wait for the next reaction!

What I WILL say in defense (kind of) of the Hashira, is that these people have been fighting demons for YEARS. They’ve seen countless numbers of people, including fellow demon slayers and family members, killed by demons with no regard, and never has a demon like Nezuko existed, so of course they don’t believe that she could be good. That being said, Tanjiro 100% had the correct reaction with Sanemi.
