i definitely think the sub is better performance wise, but when Midoriya trips, the english just made me laugh so much harder because instead of saying "This is it" he says "I'm a failure" so the contrast between saying he's different and then that just hits differently XD

It's so fun and as with all things, the more the characters develop the more deep the story will go 🥰 please make any predictions you want! Y'all are a little traumatized by some of the crazy dark animes you've seen so I it'll be fun trying to guess how this one will go 😏

2025-01-15 20:12:17 +0000 UTCDefinitely agree with your reflections on noticing the similarities between anime’s at this point. To me that’s part of the fun. It’s fun to see where author’s drew inspiration from, and how they tweak characters to make their story unique. Also to comment on your line about Izuku spoiling us by saying, “This is the story of how I became the greatest hero”, I think it’s pretty genius by the author. He knows most of the audience knows the tropes, so saying that line to me is an indication for the audience that they can sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey. One of the best parts about MHA to me is it doesn’t immediately try to one-up the more PTSD animes in the trauma department (cough cough JJK). It definitely has its serious moments, but it carved its own path in the medium and dedicates a lot more time to making sure the audience is having fun while watching, rather than a continuous PTSD train.
