Like at the end of the day, Denji is a 16 year old boy, and it doesn’t matter how hot Makima is, she is a grown woman doing these sexual things with a kid. I’m pretty sure in Japan the age of consent is used to be 13 years old and only in June of 2023 they raised the age of consent to 16 years old. Either way, it should not be okay and it’s very clear that Makima knows that Denji likes her and is using that to manipulate him it seems to do what she wants. I’m just imagining if the roles were reversed how gross it would be. In media they always make a joke or make it seem more okay of the idea of a teen boy having sexual relations with a grown woman. It’s seen as something a teen boy should be proud of for “scoring” a hot woman but not seeing how wrong and disgusting it is. While if it was the other way around it would obviously not be seen that way, as it should be. Image the roles were reverse and it was a 16 year old girl having a crush on a grown man and that grown man putting the girls hand on his crotch. It’d be seen as very disgusting and inappropriate, as it should, while when it’s Denji being the 16 year old boy, some ppl view it as him getting what he wants and seen “as every boys dream.” I just feel we shouldn’t normalize that, there’s nothing wrong with having a crush on a adult but if that adult reciprocates that, it’s a problem. I’m mentioning this bc I feel like since this anime has released, I’ve seen some ppl normalizing what Makima did or simply not viewing it as a big deal and saying that “this is every boys dream” and “he must be so happy” when this isn’t something that should be normalized or seen as okay simply bc it’s boy and a grown women. It doesn’t matter weather it is Denjis dream or not, what happened to him was not okay weather he realizes that or not. The best way to describe what’s happening is that it feels like he’s being groomed by Makima. Whether male or female, no sane adult would ever want to do anything sexually with a 16 year old. Anyways, I just went on a tangent lmao. My point is that I feel like this episode shows how far she’s willing to go to manipulate Denji and bc Denji is young, naive and she knows that he likes her, she is using that against him. I also want to add on to a comment you guys read this video talking about Denji probably not having Education and being poor. Obviously he is a naive horny teen but I do feel like him not having a proper Education and him having no guardian after his dad died (And if his dad had so much debt maybe he wasn’t even there for Denji to begin with) all of that also explains his nativity in a lot of aspects and why he doesn’t have any big goals. I just have seen some ppl mention that they don’t like this aspect of Denji but to me it feels realistic and understandable why he’d be like that. Anyways sorry for writing so much and going on tangents. I absolutely am loving your reactions and can’t wait for more. 💕

I knew very little about it, but I instanly loved her character design when I saw it and I was so intrigued I had to give it a go. I feel like if Denji does kill the gun devil, Makima will absolutely keep her word and even sleep with him if he actually asks for that. I'm soooooo curious about her actually and I have so many questions. Why her eyes are similar to Power's eyes? Is Makima human and her eyes are like that as a result of a contract she made with a devil? Is she a highly intelligent fiend? Could she be like Denji, part human part devil? This possibility could explain why she finds Denji particularly interesting and sees potential in him. We basically know nothing about her background, but I'm sure that will come in time. She's definitely shady as hell and I think that's part of why she is in the position she is in. The higher ups in Public Safety seem to have plenty of trust in Makima if they were willing to have her oversee an "experimental" team of devil hunters using "hounds" in the field. She strikes me as a sociopath, someone who is inwardly cold, doesn't have feelings, and is goal oriented. She definitely wears her mask very well and is an excellent manipulator to top it all off. (Yeah she would have me wrapped around her perfect little finger in no time lol. 🤣) From what we have seen so far, I don't see Makima developing actual feelings for Denji so in her mind maybe she doesn't see it as her becoming attached by getting physical with him. She's just motivating her work pet to do a good job. And the way the gun devil was described, it's probably one of the most feared devils in their entire world so I imagine if her shiny new team is the one to kill it she would get handsomely rewarded. Excited to keep watching with y'all, les goooooooo!

Also, long comment warning, lol. 2- I work with teenagers, so I totally get that Denji is an accurate-ish representation, despite his horrible situation. It’s just strange to me, because personally, I’ve never had a crush on a real person in my life. People can be cool or pretty, but I don’t ever think, “I want to kiss that person” or “I would do whatever they asked me to as long as they paid attention to me” type of things. It seems so hard and distracting, like, you guys all live like this? Denji’s focus is something I personally can’t quite get, even though I understand it’s realistic. That Makima scene was worse than the Power scene! Like, that was Uncomfortable, I paused multiple times, she was stressing me out, big time! Please ma’am, Denji’s a kid, and he’s your subordinate! The power dynamic is so distressing! The power that she has over him is disturbing. I feel like a mother hen watching a fox lead one of her chicks away, and knowing they’re going to get eaten up. You’re 100% right about the maternal instincts lol, like leave that child alone, please! That MANIPULATIVE woman, wow. Like I said, she’s giving just enough to keep Denji in line and keep him needing more. Ughhh I hate her now. I already distrusted her but now it’s definitely strong dislike. Immediately giving him a task right afterwards too, just to direct his attention to the task she wants him to take on. It’s like showing a dog a treat to get them to focus and listen to your commands. Makima’s got him, hood line and sinker now, the barbs are buried deep. I hope he can dig them out in time, before she can reel him all the way in, but I don’t think he wants to. I also don’t think she’s ‘getting close’ to him yet, she seemed like she was just doing it to manipulate him. She’s definitely a master of that it seems. Also, Denji calling himself “Your Denji“? I just want to shake him and tell him to never ever give his freedom of self just to turn into what someone else wants him to be. Ughhhhhh I hate this, someone needs to let the kid learn to think of himself as more than a dog to be controlled, something to be owned, it hurts to watch! Has Denji ever felt like he wasn’t owned by someone? The moment he was free from debt, he was turned into a devil-hunting dog yet again. Will he ever tear that collar from his neck? I wanna see him in highschool and interacting with his peers. Has Denji ever had a relationship of any sort that wasn’t transactional? Even Pochito traded his companionship for Denji’s help, though it certainly grew beyond that into a genuine friendship. I hope Denji feels Pochito still, I hope whenever he sees that chainsaw cord, he’s reminded of how much Pochito loved him. God, at least let Denji feel loved. If nothing else, let him have that. Also, Gun devil seems like the Chainsaw Man equivalent of Sukuna lol, so strong that if you eat a piece, you gain power! That’s interesting, I half expected Denji to start eating them just like Yuji. Aki bribing them to behave kinda just adds to my point? It was treated playfully, but it still got me in the heart a little. Transactions, transactions. I suppose it’s not exactly uncommon in real life, but still… I wonder what it says about the themes of Chainsaw Man, of pets, manipulation, transactions, rewards. They don’t get rights? Power is definitely a person, even if she’s a violent one. Are there any devils or fiends that could actually be normal or even good people if they were given the chance? Are there any examples you can think of when someone does something for someone in Chainsaw Man, without asking for anything in return? I honestly can’t yet. I hope that Denji and Power become actual friends at some point, they seem like they’d be absolute menaces together. They’re probably going to be the two people who can understand each other the most, given their similar situations, once they get over the rivalries. I hope he gets some strong friendships soon, he’s lost the best friend he’s ever had already! I can’t imagine how alone he feels, no wonder he’s chasing a relationship, some sort of intimacy, so hard. I understand that desire, if nothing else. That ending’s cool, I can’t wait to see what happens next! I’m having fun watching with you guys, I don’t think I would’ve watched it on my own, I would’ve (maybe) gotten to episode four and dropped it for fear of the show getting worse. Y’all have so many new shows and I’m so excited for them! My Hero Academia is awesome, the main character is another kid I want to hug through the screen sometimes (or grab him and firmly say “No, you’ve done enough, let the adults handle this!” My favorite character in MHA is Aizawa, I can’t wait until you guys meet him! I am… not a very concise writer lol. Analysis of characters, worlds, themes, and symbolism are some of my favorite things (don’t ask me about Geto Suguru, I will RANT) I can’t wait for your next videos! Demon Slayer, Fruits Basket, MHA, and Chainsaw Man (my dad wants to watch Arcane with me, I have to avoid until then lol) So much more to watch and learn!

2025-01-12 23:51:40 +0000 UTCHi J&J, Thank your your reaction this week I know it was crazy over there with the fires and all of that, but you guys totally missed that the flashback about the older kid with a younger sickly brother was Aki's childhood flashback, that explains why he became a devil hunter and why he's obsessed with revenge, I mean he literally lost his entire family in a second and witnessed it. I watched CSM a while back so I might not remember everything but I think from now when it gets crazier, hope you enjoy it! Love from Colombia ❤️

Aki also looks like the kid in the flashback of his first meet with the eye patch girl
