3:36 "Just the fact that they have to sort of separate shoujo from shounen, that feels off to me"
The official demographic of a manga is determined by the magazine it serializes in. The Fruits Basket manga serialized in a shoujo magazine so it is a considered a shoujo manga. If it seems strange that there are separate magazines for separate gender demographics, originally the only magazines for Japanese youths were ones targeted towards boys, and content for girls could only be found in a small sub-section in the magazine Shounen Sekai, but starting in 1902 shoujo magazines began to pop up and offered adolescent girls their own magazine community and content for them. This was at a time when shoujo culture was just beginning to develop ("shoujo", which means adolescent girl, was still a recently coined term at this time, and before this once a Japanese girl was no longer a child it was time for her to get married, and there was no concept of an in-between adolescent stage) and shoujo magazines played a MASSIVE role in developing and spreading Japanese girls' own unique subculture. In the post-war era shoujo magazines became primarily focused on manga serialization and these days there are many manga magazines for many different demographics and genres: shounen (adolescent boys), shoujo (adolescent girls), seinen (adult men), josei (adult women), etc

woohoo, i started this show a couple years ago but dropped it and never picked it back up again. i can't really remember where i left off but i think it was somewhere around season 2. i've been meaning to get back to it since i feel like the later part of the series will be more emotional. it was a little too slow for my taste if im being honest. but i think the ending will be good so im looking forward to giving it another chance.

Oh thank God, a slice of life anime! After the trauma conga line of AOT, JJK, and HxH, I was hoping you guys would do a shojo to bring it down a notch. Don't worry, there can still be heartbreak and trauma, but we generally don't see as much gruesome violence in slice of life.
I've heard a lot about Fruits Basket, but this is my first time watching it too. Tohru is such a compelling protagonist right off the bat, and I want things to go well for this poor girl. It was so sad hearing about her mom, and I wonder if we'll see any misplaced guilt she has her mom's death and not saying "See you when you get back."
Can't wait to see where this show goes, and I'm looking forward to Jay's comments in the future about the series as we go!

dub ppl don't HAVE to do anything lol... there are many reactors who watch in dub and they can watch those channels (the same way i only watch reactions to subbed anime even when my fav reactors watch one of my favorite animes dubbed). i just happen to not like watching anime in english and im autistic as well so although it may not seem like the end of the world for you it is something that is a big deal for me personally. id also just like to point out that i wasn't even complaining about their choice to watch in dub i was complaining that they didn't specify it in the post so i ended up wasting $5 on something that im not going to watch/enjoy.

I loved this reaction so much!! I can’t wait to watch yall experience this show for the first time! This was the first anime I fell in love with and I still haven’t cared for an anime as much since then. It’s a beautifully tragic story that is wrapped in joyful moments. It doesn’t shy away from the realities of grief and suffering, but it does approach them in such an optimistic & lighthearted way where you still walk away from it in a good mood. I can’t wait to watch episode 2 with you, appreciate you both! 🤗

I hope you're both having an amazing day, J&J! I don't comment much... I'm a bit shy about expressing my thoughts and opinions. If I do comment, it's short and sweet lol. However, I just felt like commenting because *Fruits Basket* holds a special place in my heart, and I'm happy you both are reacting to it. No matter the ups and downs around this anime, or honestly any anime, I just hope you both enjoy this anime and any future anime; that's what matters most.
I watched the 2001 *Fruits Basket* when I was younger, and it was more of a coming-of-age story for me. It was sad the 2001 anime didn't continue, but I read the manga later, and it opened my eyes to life, people, and society. Sure, there may be topics in *Fruits Basket* or any anime that I may or may not relate to, but it showed me you never know what is going on in someone's life, and people may not understand what you're going through, either. I became more open-minded and reflected a lot on myself. Life is scary and can be lonely, but we're all walking the same path with different bumps along the way, and at the end of the day, toward that last goal of our lives. Also, kindness goes a long way. I'm still learning about myself and the world, which will never stop.
Well, enough of the sappy stuff! Lol. FB has lots of happy and enjoyable moments that taught me to make the best of life, never give up, and that it's okay to take a break when needed. Anyway, when FB rebooted in 2019, I was ecstatic to see it come to life again and see lots of fans return. Again, I hope you both enjoy FB, and it's always great seeing your reactions and discussions. You're both doing amazing! Wishing everyone the best. 😊

Hi J&J, I just wanted to take a moment to explain a little background on the Chinese/East Asian Zodiac.
In the West, our birth months are associated with certain astrological zodiac symbols (eg Libra, Gemini, etc.), and people believe that different zodiac signs have different personality traits, such as Libras being very practical, or Geminis being very dramatic. Similarly, in East Asia, each YEAR is associated with one of 12 possible zodiac animals, and in turn each animal is associated with personality traits. Thus, each year, we rotate to a new animal, on a 12 year cycle, with the order being Year of the Rat, Year of the Ox, Year of the Tiger, Year of the Rabbit, Year of the Dragon, Year of the Snake, Year of the Horse, Year of the Goat, Year of the Monkey, Year of the Rooster, Year of the Dog, and finally Year of the Pig. So, for example, I was born in 1992, which was a Year of the Monkey. People born in the Year of the Monkey are generally stereotyped as clever, because monkeys are smart animals. The next year, 1993, was a Year of the Rooster, then 1994 was a Year of the Dog, etc. This continues until you rotate all the way back through the list, so the next Year of the Monkey came in 2004, 12 years after my birth year. I don't know if this is true in Japan, but at least for Chinese people, we generally believe that we will be luckier during our Zodiac year. So 2028 is supposed to be a good year for me, as another Year of the Monkey, etc.!
I won't go into too much detail, but Shigure also mentioned early in the episode that there are also elements assigned to different zodiacs. Those elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal (sometimes described as Iron, sometimes described as Gold), and Water. These also rotate and also are associated with other personality traits, so depending on what year you were born, you could be born in a Year of the Water Monkey (e.g. 1992) or a Year of the Wood Monkey (e.g. 2004) etc. The year 2000 was a crazy year, because it was the turning of the new millennium and also happened to be a Year of the Gold Dragon, which was seen as extremely lucky (dragons and yellow are symbols of royalty, and gold is also obviously a symbol of wealth). They say there was literally a population spike in China that year because so many couples deliberately tried to have babies who would be born in the Year of the Gold Dragon! Anyways, that is mostly just a fun aside. Don't worry too much about the element part--I don't think it matters much in the show.
As you saw Tohru's mom tell Tohru, there is an ancient Chinese legend that explains why each year is associated with an animal, and how the order for the animals/years came to be. None of that story was made up by the author of fruit's basket -- this is a real legend in East Asian culture: Once upon a time, the emperor of heaven threw a banquet, and invited 12 animals to attend. The order in which they arrived at the banquet determined how they were ordered in the Zodiac. The Rat rode to the banquet on the back of the Ox and then jumped off just as they arrived, entering the banquet first and causing the Ox to arrive second. Thus, the first year in the Zodiac cycle is the Year of the Rat, and the second is the Year of the Ox, etc.

Thank you for sharing! I was like that too at the beginning…very quiet but present. Also I’m glad this show has gotten you through some tough times, it helped me process a lot as well, Tohru was literally my inspiration…I wanted to be optimistic and kind just like her. Also funny enough, I threw watch parties at my house for the reboot when it aired and forced my anime loving friends and fam to watch and now they are all fans of the show! 😅 anyways thanks for sharing your story 🙂✨

Yess yess Slussh let the addiction sink in and take control haha 🤣 also you think it’s wild now? Wait until you get to the end of season 1!! And Laura Bailey(Tohru’s VA) is awesome! One of the best to ever do it. I also really love Jerry Jewel (Kyo’s VA), he plays tsundere’s very well. He also voices Lyon in Fairy Tail if anyone has seen that one.

Hey all - what're the thoughts on the outro?
IMO - it's not *really* a spoiler, but since some of the images reference the character's zodiac, maybe best to wait until episode 13 (the last with the opening outro)

FURUBA!! My all time favorite series!
Fruits Basket incorporates the story of the Chinese Zodiac (a version of it, as there are many). Chinese New Year follows the lunisolar calendar and marks the end of Winter and beginning of Spring of the new year. Many other countries (most commonly in Asia) hold similar celebrations and have their own versions of the Zodiac. Collectively they are referred to as the Lunar New Year. This year the Lunar New Year falls on January 29th and 2025 will be the year of the Snake 🐍 following the Dragon 🐉 in the cycle. You can google your birth year to see which animal you are! I was born in the year of the Monkey! 🐒
Have fun with the series! I cannot express how excited I am for you to experience this story!
Bonus fact: In the Vietnamese Zodiac the Cat replaces the Rabbit in the cycle! 🐈

Long time lurker, first time poster, and I am so excited for this journey! I read the manga in high school through online fan translations and distinctly remember the excitement on the forum I frequented in the days leading up to the final chapter being released and uploaded. It was the first manga I ever read in full, and maybe that nostalgia makes me biased, but Fruits Basket is my favorite show of all time and the one I turn to whether I need a good laugh or a good cry.
One of my besties has no interest in anime whatsoever, but she agreed on a whim to watch this show with me. By the time we were caught up, the final season was just starting to air, and SHE was the one messaging me weekly to make sure we were still both available for Furuba Night. Make of that what you will. ♥️
As for sub vs. dub: both are well done and you can’t go wrong with either of them. Some scenes I prefer in Japanese and others in English simply because the translation or performance choice resonates differently. However, as much as I love the dub, I tend to stick to the sub simply because Shigure shares a voice actor with our favorite white-haired, infinity wielding, jujutsu sorcerer, and it’s just too perfect a casting choice.
Anyways - that’s about enough of my rambling for tonight. Glad you’ve enjoyed this first episode, and hopefully you enjoy the rest to come.

I was team kuroko no basket but it’s also exciting to see someone react to fb since it’s not popular among reaction channels. it’s also my first time watching it in dub with you and I did not expect Yuki to sound so seductive here, it caught me off guard 😂 in original he sounds like a good shy boy, so it was totally unexpected. I would still prefer sub but it doesn’t really matter as long as you enjoy it. it’s a very emotional story with great characters, so I’m glad to join you for another anime.

Sub watchers could use rewatching in dub as a new experience, seeing the series with new eyes. It doesn’t have to be a bad thing if they can keep an open mind. I wouldn’t normally watch anything with these themes but I’m a yearly VIP subscriber so I hope I can enjoy it.

Like I get that it's throwing some people off but are the voices really that jarring?! Like can't we just give it a chance the same way lots of people are giving the anime a chance? I like both versions but I feel bad for the dub watchers because their chances of getting a decent dub reaction is very slim and unpopular opinion here: I like Yuki's VA he sells the character for me and it still tugged at J&J's emotions so...

I hope that you continue watching in the dub version. You guys have watched most others in sub as people have requested which has created a lot of extra work rewatching episodes multiple times. It would be a nice break for you both. It also allows some of us to concentrate on the beautiful animation more.

I'm looking forward to this anime. I actually watched the older version when I was younger and didn't really get around to watching the 2019 version so I'll get a new experience with you guys. 🤗 It's been so long since I've watched an anime in English so it was kind of awkward but I'm not against it. Most (definitely not all) are either unwilling to compromise (elitist) or started watching the anime in sub so dub naturally feels odd to them but the problem comes when they're so rude, uncompromising, and have a refusal to do what dub watcher have to do 99% of the time (be forced to watch reactors watch sub) which sub isn't bad. I have nothing against sub and yes it's extremely great watching in Japanese but that doesn't make that opinion automatically correct. People have their own opinions but most sub elitists refuse to acknowledge that it's even possible for dub to be preferred by people and call that opinion wrong or stupid. It's ridiculous. They're just like "well you'll get used to it" but if it affects the your enjoyment of or understanding/comprehension of the show why would you prefer for someone to watch it and not get everything they can out of it instead of missing what subtitles say or getting confused more when reading vs hearing

Vibrating out of my skin with excitement/anticipation! I don’t think I have rewatched this show since I originally found it in 2019 and so it’s fun that I don’t remember the exact story beats!! I absolutely love Tohru. You would think that someone with her eternal optimism would come off as annoying but somehow they just make her so lovable !! I also forgot how much I love her two besties and omg so many more amazing characters to come !! I cannot wait

Fruba dub for the win! Sub ppl always get their way, it's not gonna hurt you watching this in dub, don't be dramatic and this comes from a majority sub watcher. even the MANGAKA loves the dub cast like come on yall. The problem with putting a poll out is that even people that won't watch the show will vote sub just based on the sub elitism in anime which is a shame and I've seen that happen so many times

So excited that y'all are reacting to Fruits Basket! It was one of the earlier mangas that I read when I was young, and have reread and watched it several times throughout my life.
There are already so many comments giving y'all great context, but there a few quick things that I think might give y'all some context:
- it's a common trope in highschool anime/manga for there to be social groups that are obsessed with a popular character (to the point of stalkerish behavious, lol). So that's what was up with that group of girls - Yuki didn't do anything to encourage their behaviour.
- unfortunately, another hugely common trope in anime in general, is dead mothers. Like, so common, so it might be helpful for y'all to have that sitting in your mind as you continue to watch more anime.
- the "waves" that they were talking about Hanashima using are kind of like psychic waves - they're also referenced with relative frequency in anime. (They're also sometimes called denpa waves). It can get a bit confusing, because there's no singular meaning to it, but here's a definition of sorts: Denpa (電波), literally meaning "electromagnetic wave," is a diverse Japanese fiction genre that centers around topics of delusion, asociality, and a sense of losing connection with reality.[1] Due to the surreal nature of the genre, it is hard to define, but often centers on topics of existentialism and psychological horror. Denpa is a slang term, umbrella term, and for some, a lifestyle.
Something else that I thought might be helpful to y'all in regards to Japanese pronunciation is that Japanese isn't based on an alphabet, it uses a syllabary. This means that what folks try to read it from an English language mindset, the words can look intimidating, BUT if you know how it works, Japanese words are actually super easy to pronounce! A super basic rundown is that Japanese has 5 vowel sounds:
- a (pronounced like the A in apple)
- i (like the E in meet)
- u (like the O in too)
- e (like the EH sound in debt)
- o (like the O in over)
And the pronunciations of these vowels typically don't change beyond minor tonal or inflection shifts. There are also no silent letters, the exception being adding an additional letter to lengthen the the vowel (for example adding an H or U ofter an O, or a double EE, to lengthen that vowel sound in English transliterations), and all consonants are basically pronounced the same as their English counterparts' basic pronounciation. Beyond that, the way a syllabary works is that every syllable has it's own character, so after [a,i,u,e,o] it goes [ka,ki,ku,ke,ko], [ma,mi,mu,me,mo], etc. The way it works is that except for N, a consonant can't be in the same syllable as a vowel if it's placed after, and always have to have a vowel following it (if the English transliteration doesnt have a vowel after a consonant then that means theres usually a short 'u' sound after it). So for example, looking at the name Hakusensha from Jay's comment, it would be pronounced as Ha-ku-sen-sha with 4 distinct syllables (when you break down the syllables the words become much less intimidating!). At a basic level, you'll be closest to the 'correct' pronunciation if you don't stress any of the syllables. If you're curious, you can look at a Japanese syllabary chart here: https://www.nhk.or.jp/lesson/en/letters/hiragana.html
Sorry if that was a lot, I'm a huge language nerd (I even majored in Foreign Languages and Linguistics in uni), and studied in Japan for awhile, so I could talk about the intricacies of different languages forever!
Anyways, loved the reaction - I know you'lll both really love this series!

-Hi guys, I am so happy that the first episode gripped you like it did...too be honest I was nervous about if you would like the series or not and despite it being my favorite anime ever! believe it or not I don’t recommend it to just anyone as I know some will write it off and not give it a chance. It is both a very light and very dark anime but the rewatch value it has is unmeasurable, I have rewatched it at least 10 times, read the manga 5 times and never get bored of it.
There are 12 Chinese zodiac signs, in the following order to how they arrived to the banquet: Rat, Ox/Cow, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig/Boar. Each sign is named after an animal, and each animal has its own unique characteristics. They go by birth year and I am the year of the Dog (1994) so Shigure is my representation…I don’t exactly know how to feel about that but at the same time I kind of get it lol 😅. I attached a link at the bottom for you to find your year and your character representation in the show. It’s pretty fun to compare your likeness to them (the characters). Fun fact: The cat was left out of the original zodiac in real life as well. Can't wait for episode 2 and for you to learn a little more about my favorite character...Kyo Sohma 😉
Also as for the dub/sub debate...I urge you to put out a poll and put it to rest sooner rather than later lol I enjoy both. Thanks for everything guys! 🍙💜

watch in sub for a few more years/decade and you will be able to look away for a minute and still understand what poeple saying, more or less at least nough to know what's going on x)
PS: the dub feel realy weird and unwatchable for no native english speaker like me, i cant judge if a dub is good or bad since isnt my language, but it doesnt convey emotion properly to me (probably cause i'm so use to the sub) i dont even watch anime in my own language so in english even less x)

Since I see a bunch of comments asking for subs I'm chiming in.
If a dub is good like this one (stays true to the story line and conveys emotion) it's worth it to watch. Dubs increase accessibility for folks that may be visually impaired or those who have reading challenges like dyslexia.
I think it's important to support and appreciate the better dubs to help encourage improvement in the industry.
Also - it's annoying when I'm watching subs and need to look away from the screen for a minute, I have to pause because I can't just listen, I need to read. 🤣

Hi guys! ❤️ I'm so, so happy to see you react to Furuba !!🎉 This series holds such a special place in my heart ‘cause of all the great emotions and thoughts it provided me with. It's an entanglement of really touching stories and messages. Honestly, I’m even a little sad I only discovered it when I was 20, I really believe it could have helped me so much if I’d watched it earlier and had the chance to grow alongside its inspiring lessons.
I thought I might share with you some information on the whole shojo/shonen thing. I totally agree with Jared that separating shōjo as “for women” and shōnen as “for men” can feel unnecessary and limiting. These boxes we put manga and anime in, are more about the industry’s structure than the stories themselves. The manga creation process in japan primary works as follows :
=> An author finishes a few pages and a pitch of their work
=> They present it to a magazine publishing company
=> If selected, the story gets serialized chapter by chapter in a magazine (weekly or bi-monthly)
=> If the series gains popularity, it’s compiled into manga volumes
=> With enough reader recognition, it get adapted into an anime
Magazines are the ancrestone of the industry and editors always have a precise target demographic they want to appeal to as shōjo or shōnen magazines. 少女 shōjo literally meaning “young girl” and 少年 shōnen meaning young boy, it’s quite literal.
Sometimes you’ll here that to be classified as a shojo, the work has to focus more on love, relationships and emotions, as to be a shonen it has to focus on aventure, action and competition, you can also hear that it has to do with who is the MC, meaning that if the MC is a young girl, other young girls can identify to the character thus it’d be a shōjo and vice versa. In the end while it can seem true to some extent, cause statistically, yeah, more girls read Ribon (main shōjo mag) and most of it’s stories center on a girl MC, while most readers of Shōnen Jump (main shōnen mag) are young boys, the explanation is actually the other way around. Shōjos center on love and relationships with a girl MC because shōjo magazines won't sign it otherwise, and same goes for shōnen. Usually the authors themselves wont strictly gender their targeted audience cause there is no such a thing as a gendered artwork, it’s the market that does.
That said, the lines are blurring, and no manga has ever been as binary as the definition of shojo/shonen. Women have shown growing interest in shonen (and have for years), but the reverse, men openly enjoying shojo, still faces more resistance. I believe that FB breaking the scores of the poll and, as Jay said, being emotional that it even got considered, just shows how much people want these walls to be shattered and for everyone to share great anime regardless of who it was marketed to!
Your sincere and heartfelt reactions always move me, and I’m so grateful for all the love you put into your content. I wish you the most amazing time entering the world of Furuba! 🍙<3
Ps: so sorry it’s so long, I hope it not to wordy or boring 😭

Well, this will be the first time I will watch a slice-of-life anime because of you guys.
I generally dislike romance anime and prefer action-filled, thought-inducing, complex situations. But I feel like I haven’t even given any slice-of-life anime a chance.
As I don’t want to miss a reaction, I am now forcing myself to give “Slice of Life” a chance after watching anime for at least 10 years.
I hope you and I will enjoy watching Fruits Basket for the first time :)

J&J, share with us your zodiac animal! Google your birth month and year along with “zodiac animal” to find out. I was born in the year of the rat.🐀
2025 is the year of the snake. Snakes are known for their ability to shed their skin, symbolizing the process of letting go of the old and embracing the new. Something we can all shoot for in 2025!🐍
Kind-hearted, optimistic Tohru Honda is 16 years old at the start of the series.
I am so happy you are reacting to this series. Thank you for giving it a shot.
Regarding genre, I agree that it feels a bit uncomfortable to place a piece of media entertainment in one specific box. Genre-wise, Fruba genre-blends to create a unique and complex story. It participates in elements of Shojo, slice of life, and even a bit of shonen. “Participates in” sits better with me than “is” when discussing genre.
One reaction a week might break me with anticipation!

This is my first time hearing the dub and I was not expecting Yuki’s voice to sound like that 💀💀 I’m not sure how I feel about it. It’s like he’s trying to seduce you every time he opens his mouth it’s a little distracting I’ll admit. Maybe I can get used to it idk. But I’ll be fine as long as I have subtitles, so please keep those on guys! Also, J&J I’m curious what your zodiac signs are. If you’re not familiar with Chinese zodiacs just look up your birth year and the animal associated with it will pop up. And also our patrons here, I’m curious too. I was born in the year of the snake 🐍 Which is also coincidentally the zodiac for 2025. We have officially entered the Year of the Snake folks!

Hi J&J! So excited to watch this with you.
It seemed like you were a little confused about the zodiac/animal/birth year thing, and the show is based around it, so as a quick explanation:
The Japanese Zodiac uses your birth year for assignment in the same way the zodiac we think of in the states uses month ranges.
When Tohru exclaimed that she was switching from Dog to Cat, her birth year would have made her a "dog", but she felt bad for the excluded cat and decided to align with it. ❤️ She's such a sweet soul, it's impossible not to love her.
2025 is the year of the Snake. I was born under the Rooster. Let me know what you guys are!
Patrons too!! I'm curious what type of mix we have here.

I've been watching and I actually agree as well. This dub so far sounds a lot better (from my initial impression) than other dubs I've heard in the past. Bad dubs detract from the story and my instinct says this sounds better than most dubs I've heard in the past. So I don't think for me personally it'll detract from the experience. But obviously I haven't watched the entire anime so I can't say for certain!

Yes ATLA was was good and it was originally made in English so there's no awkward synch issues or audio mishaps where you can distinctly hear that the voice is foreign to the audio in the background and the music, like in dubs.
My first impression if this dub was: it's better that most dubs but it stills sound so unnatural that it doesn't allow me immerse myself in the show and it feels very uncomfortable to my ears.
But that's just me, it's my personal policy to always watch series, anime, movies or anything else in the original language, regardless whether I know it or not.

I came on to see the BTS MMA2019 drop countdown and then saw Fruits Basket - what an amazing Thursday!
Fruits Basket was actually the first manga I ever read when I was in junior high. My friends would bring different mangas to read and they were wonderful enough to let me borrow FB ☺️
I love the sub version, I think the voices suit well with the emotions that the characters carry. But I’ve always watched animes and Asian movies/ series in sub so I’m probably just used to it. This is my first time watching it in dub. It felt like I was watching a new anime for the first time. Sub Yuki doesn’t sound like a “Rizzy Sohma” the way Dub Yuki does 😆 If we continue in dub, it’ll be an intriguing journey for me. I’ll be here for it!
Tohru shows resilience and vulnerability right off the bat. The way she spoke about her mom’s passing…you can’t help but feel her pain. I get teary-eyed every time I watch that scene, it hits straight to the heart.
Beautiful way to start off 2025! Can’t wait for next week!

I am so happy you guys have given Fruits Basket a chance! This anime will always be special to me, as it was my first ever shojo and slice of life anime, and I still haven't found any other that compares to it. I really really suggest that you guys give the sub version a chance at the very least. In my opinion, sub just makes everything sound so much more genuine and sincere and real, and that's really important for feeling the anime as deeply as possible. Also, feel free to watch BOTH the opening and ending songs, as they do not contain any spoilers. I truly can't wait for yalls reaction to the rest of the series! It will indeed be one hell of a rollercoaster and tears will be shed. Thank you Jared and Jordan!

English Dubs have a lot of problems. I'm not sure if you watched ATLA/Korra but those "dubs" are natural and amazing because they're recorded in the same room which makes the conversations between characters sound natural. English dubs of anime often are stilted, awkward, with odd tonal changes mid conversation because they're recorded in separate rooms. Anime was often not taken seriously either and english voice actors would not take the stories or characters seriously in their performances (in my opinion). As opposed to anime voice acting which is seen as a legitimate career with an insane amount of competition for roles.
Anyway, all this to say I hope FMA Brotherhood, Monster etc. are all in sub. The legitimate good dubs are in anime like Cowboy Bebop. The list is very short in my opinion. I don't know about FB because I never watched it before.

Y'all calling him rizzy Soma has me on the floor 😂😂 so excited to watch your first Shojo anime with you, I think it's going to be a lot of fun and the discussions will be interesting. Tohru is such a lovely character, there's a lot to unpack with her :) you may have noticed she says 'im sorry' a lot, even for things she doesn't need to be sorry for 🤔 same, queen.
came back to say I'm really happy you are starting with the dub and I hope you continue, I'm not saying one is better than the other but I personally really love this dub and knowing you don't react to dub typically makes me really want to hold onto this dub for dear life 🥺🥺🥺
btw rats are sweet and intelligent animals, I know we often think of wild or city rats and think "ew gross" but I've had pet rats and they were awesome animals.
