Finally catching up on all the reactions 😭 I'm so late

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but i really like The King (Meruem), I'll elaborate on that later when you finish this arc. But seriously, you can't deny his character development from the moment he was born up until now. He is not just your typical "bad guy/ villain", I would even consider Pouf as a more ruthless and stereotypical antagonist. I would really like you to look deeper on what Meruem represents as a character and what his slow but steady changes entails. P.S. I think what Meruem meant by Netero having checkmated him from the very beginning was because he was already prepared to use his "ultimate sacrifice technique" even before they started the fight. Netero was prepared to die along with him no matter the result of their fight.

Rheyia Pomar

In the earlier episode they asked if Netero wanted to give Meruem his heart 😂 Yeah, in a way he did, in a very spectacular way

BILLIE (Hairy Harry)

im gettin bricked up the closer we gettin to it

Imran

the fight was...... incredible

Badriya

That cheap ass pocket nuke😂

Snix

at 14:10 Jared said "Netero is gonna have to blow him up or something." I started dying laughing cause he didn't even realize he predicted what was gonna happen to the king 😂 Edit: Also if you want to know where Killua saw Neteros aura it's was at episode 99 and in your reaction to episode 99 you see it at 41:10

Snix

Netero got that pocket nuke 😂

Vlad

same thing happened with aot, people down vote it because they want their anime to be higher, very cringe

ZedStar

Netero is the goat.

BSPITTA

Imran

Hey J&J! New follower here and I gotta say you two have quickly became my favorite creators! I really appreciate how attentive you both are and love you rewatching scenes and taking notes. I've been watching so often lately that even my partner (who plays games aside me not actually watching) will start the videos with "alright, okay" before going back to what they're doing. Sorry for the long intro and I'm sorry if someone else already mentioned this but if you notice from the very beginning they never actually refer to Pitou as a "she or her" always referring to Pitou either as "Captain" or even when Rammot follows them with a "yes sir" and when it comes to the humans talking about Pitou they always say "it" or reference Pitou as a bug or by name. I didn't notice this until my 3rd rewatch 😅 when my sister pointed it out

Multiple Motions

Used to be 9.9 idk why they changed it

"Don't underestimated humanity's Infinite potential for evolution/malice" in Japanese, evolution is also the same word for malice, making that line hit so much harder. Meruem was simply not prepared for the darker side of humanity, who have for hundreds of thousands of years fought each other, developing a keen intellect for creating deadlier and deadlier weapons to use on our enemies. Meruem stands on top of his species, a result of their teamwork and single minded focus. Humanity has had tens of billions of people with competing views on how and where to steer the world. Advances and brrakthroughs happen faster when you know there's someone out there doing the same thing, if if they finish before you, you're the one ending up dead. Even in our own history, most advances has happened during wartime and then after that technology is 'old news', they give it out to the masses. Meruem was simply not ready for what humanity could achieve, he looked at them as pure individuals who couldn't come together to produce something to defeat him. When in reality humanity just wanted the ants dealt with quietly, if they wanted to they could've just carped bombed the ants at any time, taking them out. The ants never stood a chance against humanity's malice to begin with. Love from Norway, guys, keep 'em coming, you still have some peak episodes of this caliber waiting for you.

Lol, I thought you guys were watching on different screens based on your eyes. But didn’t realize it was a big movie screen. Definitely gives context to why Jordan wanted to replay the needle scene. He was so fascinated by it 😂.

(The Real) Brandon

"If there is hell, I'll see you there" - Netero those were his dying words...

just pure aura, legit still get goosebumps every single time

I think Komugi unlocked a new way of thinking for Meruem which took him to the next level. It definitely allowed him to strategize and ultimately outlast Netero in that fight. It also gave him the patience to find his opponents rhythm, even if it felt like an impossible task. This new way of thinking allowed him to beat Netero, an opponent with more than a century’s worth of experience on his first try. The King without Komugi would have definitely been smart, but not the master strategist he is now. He would have had a very difficult time with Netero without a Komugi. He would have been using brute force instead of his mind, but I think Meruem’s brute force would still have been enough. Either way, due to the nuke he would have lost either way.

Alpha

I think the amount of hits Netero got on the king was very important to dull his skin and cut through it, then using zero hand to blow it up and it being not enough so he used his ultimate trump card by sacrificing himself in the process amazing episode 9.8 on imdb for good reason

ZedStar

Cinema, just cinema... I hope you will let the statement "Don't underestimate the human race" sink in..

Flo

The real question is would it make a difference if the king hadn't met Kumogi learning and observing the complex execution of fighting strategically? hmnmm... 🤔 would it actually made a difference, the outcome against Netero's fight to the King?

luma

I always thought it was awesome how relevant Gungi was. Komugi actually served as Meruem’s first teacher. And the lessons she taught him on the Gungi board were very relevant to the battlefield. Komugi played Gungi in a calm, strategic and deliberate manner and Meruem brought those lessons with him unto his fight with Netero. Ultimately I think Meruem won this battle but not the war. He achieved the parameters necessary for Netero to give him his name so Netero honoured that. But Meruem wasn’t prepared for the horrors humanity created. Little Meruem sat down with Netero like he was playing a Gungi match, while his opponent had a Nuke in his back pocket the entire time. In reality, humans always had the upper hand. They’re willing to create weapons of mass destruction to harm their own species. For Meruem, the very idea was foreign. He was mentioning evolution for example. When it comes to atomic bombs that humans have created, there is no evolutionary advantage to the human species. It’s a tool to kill, obliterate, and dominate other humans. It’s a tool born out of malice, hatred, greed etc, towards your own species. For a “newborn brat” like Meruem, he couldn’t possibly fathom the depths of hatred that humans can enact on others. I’m not sure if you noticed, Meruem was the one whose eyes looked human and scared when Netero was about to activate the bomb. Netero’s eyes were pitch black and non human. It was a stark contrast. Netero didn’t see himself as a hero when he died. “I’ll see you in hell…”. I think he may have embraced becoming a demon.
