I really loved Hinata's ball boy arc. I'm surprised to hear many people don't like it. We all have different tastes of course. I definitely have opinions that some haikyuu fans would be shocked to hear (*cough* I still don't like Atsumu after all my rewatches). But that arc and his special moments in this game against Inarizaki are why he is now in my top five haikyuu characters. Maybe even in my top three now! The protagonists of shows/stories are rarely ever in my top characters and Hinata was no exception when I first started Haikyuu. But his dedication and hard work really won me over. Honestly, the Inarizaki game is my least favorite game of all the games we have seen so far in terms of entertainment, but I love how it added to Hinata's growth as a player. I was so proud of him when he applied what he learned from being a ball boy to an actual game and was able to execute his plays properly. For me it wasn't much of a surprise, I was anticipating that Hinata would be watching the game carefully from behind and surprise his teammates. Seeing my expectations become reality was so satisfying.

Happy Thanksgiving. Atsumu - "I'm moved Shoyo-Kun". Atsumu showing his admiration for Hinata and even using Hinata's first name. I also LOVE Kita's TEDtalk about geniuses. So, perfect!

I remember seeing Hinata’s foot spike for the first time and thinking, “There’s no way.” But then I started watching real volleyball games and realized that these athletes truly defy physics sometimes. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find clips of foot spikes in an actual match, but things like this happen a lot in volleyball. This is one of the many reasons I love this sport so much. Also, the interaction between Kita and Daichi goes so much deeper than it seems at first glance. At the beginning of the episode, Kita mentions how he doesn’t really resonate with their school’s motto. As someone who embodies discipline and consistency, the phrase “We don’t need the memories” implies that the only focus should be on moving forward, which somewhat contradicts his perspective. Despite that, he finds players like the Miya twins, who live entirely in the moment and always look ahead, amazing. That’s why he positions himself as their support in the back, as seen in the way he saved the ball after they missed their quick attack. It perfectly symbolizes his role. Kita’s confusion with Daichi stems from this same mindset. Since Daichi is also a reliable, consistent captain, Kita assumed they shared the same philosophy. But when Daichi spikes and scores off Kita’s receive, hitting the banner with their school motto, Kita smiles with respect and a newfound acknowledgment for “We don’t need the memories.” The details in this show’s writing are just next level. It’s what makes this anime so much more than just a sports anime. I can’t wait to see your reaction to the movie! Thank you for these amazing Thursdays. This comment ended up being way longer than I expected, sorry:)

Happy Thanksgiving Jared and Jordan! 🧡🙏🏽 Hinata’s last point right there took me back to when he first started training with Grandpa Ukai. He told Hinata he needed to touch the ball as much as he could until it became like a part of his body. And we’ve been able to see the results of that. In the Shiratorizawa match, one of Kageyama’s sets came up short for Hinata but he was able to save it with his left hand and got the point. In this season’s episode 8, Hinata’s little sister watched him practice passing to himself and she said it seemed like he was getting along with the ball now. At first it was a stranger and now it’s like they’re best friends. All that we’ve seen so far is the outcome of Hinata’s hard work. He continues to surprise everyone with his breakthroughs throughout each match! There have been foot saves where the ball goes over but I’ve personally never seen anyone do it that close to the net like Hinata did. I’m sure it happens here and there. I did find a YouTube short of someone doing it. It was the only one that popped up when I tried searching. https://m.youtube.com/shorts/c6iUVfiPKZ0 Hope your Thanksgiving was filled with good company, laughter and yummy food ☺️
