I swear I was so incredibly excited to see y'alls reaction to this specific season, especially because of the characters but my god was i specifically waiting to hear about your thoughts on Kita. I fully agree with the sentiment that Kita easily bumps his way up to your favorite characters in such a short time. He's just such an earnest and dedicated character that you can't help but root for. Such a wise (and old) soul that really just reflects the hard work people in general put into their passions. Especially his sentiment about being able to do anything that has become mundane and part of your daily routine really moved me back when I first saw it and still very much does. This is one of the big reasons why I really love haikyuu, with every team there's at least one lessons for each team to learn and you will be right there with them learning it just as much!

Something fun to note - Darlan Souza a player on the Brazilian national team has the motto tattooed on his arm. 🤩 https://x.com/TrianaNero/status/1540574081396969472

as im sure yall have seen from your comments, you guys are def not alone in your love for kita. it's crazy how furudate introduced a character so late into the series and was able to make everyone adore him in such a short amount of time one of my favorite scenes from this ep was hearing kita's grandma's voice in the background saying "someone is always watching" as we see the inarazaki coach watching young kita from the doorway. it's proof that all of his hard work has paid off because someone WAS watching him. and that same coach eventually promoted him to being captain which is what made him cry he's such a great character that offers a different perspective/philosophy that we haven't seen in the series up until this point. his character and the match only gets better from here too !!

We dont need the memories means: WIN. You know how teams when they lose say "at least we made some memories" or something like that, as a way to accept the defeat? That's what it's about and it's also how fans feel about it when their team loses: "at least we came this far". The fans don't need the memories of how their team went to the nationals, they want their team to win and nothing else. Just my interpretation but i think it's accurate. Proof of that is how the fans boo the players, they are hyperfocused on their team winning and won't accept bad plays or a loss.

I absolutely fell in love with Kita from this episode on. His philosophy in regards to how he trains and plays really resonated with me. My take away from Kita's philosophy is that you need to make your plays/behaviors a habit. When you do the same thing everyday (brush your teeth, clean, etc) it becomes a habit, when behaviors are a habit you don't have to think about them, they just happen and you don't have to be nervous because you know you can do it since the perform those plays/tasks everyday. Honestly, this philosophy changed how I view the sport I compete in and how I train my students in that sport.

I love his personality too and I feel like he should become a coach. Honestly this show has so many good characters, it’s hard to pick favorites. Who are your top 5 characters?

I totally agree with you. Kita may not be my number #1 favourite Haikyuu character but he is definitely one of my favourites. I love his personality and I love how he leads his team. He might not say much but when he does his team listens. I also love how much hard work he puts into his everyday life and how it shows in his volleyball play those two receives were absolutely amazing.

I liked Kita when I saw the flashback with Atsumu but Instantly loved him when I saw him crying. I was like yup he’s very wholesome and he isn’t my #1 favorite of all of Haikyuu but he’s definitely one of my favorites. I can’t put him in my top 5 since I love so many characters almost equally.

It took Kita half an episode to get introduced, impress everyone with his skills, share an inspiring backstory, and jump straight to the top of my favorite characters list. He’s truly amazing. I completely understand when you mentioned that up until this episode, you hadn’t felt as invested in this match because I had a similar experience. But once Kita was introduced, everything flipped, and now this is my favorite match in this show. I’m excited to see if your opinion changes as you learn more about Inarizaki. Also, you might have missed this detail, but the reason Kita started crying after receiving his uniform was because it was the captain’s jersey, which meant so much to him. His strict discipline and hard work had finally paid off. In his conversation with Aran about the process being more important than results, he mentioned that results are simply a byproduct of the process. But then he looks at his jersey and wonders if this jersey, too, is a “result” since it made him so emotional. I just love this character. Overall, I think Inarizaki’s team has so many impressive characters. They’re probably my favorite after Karasuno. Thank you, as always, your videos have become an important part of my routine to lift my mood.

Jordan: This match isn’t quite as thrilling Kita: aight sub me in 😏 Thank you for another great reaction! Loved your discussion about Kita. The scene where he cried, was very sentimental. He wasn’t just given a jersey…he was given the Captain’s jersey 🥹 To me, that was a great indication of trust and confidence that the Coach (and most likely the team) had in Kita after watching him do all those “mundane” things. If there was a visual for “trust the process”, I imagine it would be Kita.

J&J! I'm so happy you finally got to meet my favorite character in all of Haikyuu!! Kita is the best I love him so much and it was love at first sight for me with him! And don't worry the Inarizaki banner will be explained eventually.
