I'm happy to be watching for the first time with you, J&J, and get to see the insight you and your patrons bring to the show. It's hard to get a group of people together in real life to binge an entire series with, but your content makes me feel like part of a group, even if I don't comment as much as I'd like to. Also, I know we got the info a few episodes back, but I had to mention that the one and only Gojo shares a birthday with my little brother (December 7). I almost jumped out of my chair when I saw his birthday on the screen lol. Anyway, I can't wait to watch the next few episodes with y'all, and in the meantime, I'm off to catch up on HxH again, whoops!

2024-11-14 14:14:54 +0000 UTCI think it’s important to remember that Toji is still technically a Zenin by blood, and the only reason he not is because he changed his surname to his Fushiguro after marriage, taking his wives surname instead of what commonly occurs which is the women taking her husband’s surname. This is because he hates the Zenin clan since they rejected him for the same reason they rejected Maki. Its also the only reason why Megumi’s surname is also Fushiguro even though he is blood related to the Zenin clan, and if he took his fathers birth surname which is what happens traditionally, he would be called Megumi Zenin. When the creepy older lady summoned Toji into the younger man’s body, she said Toji Zenin, not Toji Fushiguro, just a minor detail. A couple episodes earlier, a younger Gojo (after defeating Toji) asks a child Megumi if he wants to go to the Zenin clan, and Megumi asks if his sister will be happy there, and because she won’t be Megumi decides against going. Gojo leaves the decision up to Megumi, it kind of reminded me of when Geto asks Riko if she wanted to assimilate, because both times they’re allowing young people to choose their future, rather them imposing their will onto them, which is something the higher ups need to get with. Also it mei meis little brother calls her nee-sama in the sub, which is a pretty formal way of saying big sister, don’t worry if you miss things like that. One more thing about Mei Mei, at first when she runs into Geto she questions whether he is a clone, because from what we all know, he was pronounced dead after he was killed by Gojo at the end of the movie. And after fake-Geto uses Geto’s cursed technique she starts doubting if that happened. Although we know that somebody has hijacked Geto’s dead body. It was also mentioned that usually Ieiri Shoko deals with dead jujtusu sorcerers body’s, to prevent this sort of thing from happening, and fake-Geto says what something along the lines of what a weird time to show compassion. He’s referring to after Gojo killed Geto, he didn’t let Shoko deal with the dead body because Geto was also her friend and he likely didn’t want her to have to witness/deal with the dead body of someone she was also close with.

A fun fact about Naobito's technique is that originally, his technique is derived from the video medium and cameras. The brush up from film to 24-frame anime happened during Naobito’s generation. That's because he is knowledgeable about how anime is made because his hobby is watching anime (we understand you old guy). I love his technique, that's a clever way to shout out animators and their works. The power system in JJK can be a little far-fetched and hard to comprehend at first but when you finally get the grasp of it, you can fully appreciate it ! Toji is really like "f*ck your power system". No cursed energy, no technique. A pure monster. He exorcised Dagon in his own domain without even taking a single hit while Naobito, Nanami, Maki and Megumi were struggling against him in 4v1. And yes, it will be more peak than that, be prepared.

Judging by Maki’s reaction when she saw Toji fight the curse, she saw that even without cursed energy one can become an absolute beast! Her eyes lightened as probably for the first time in her life she saw someone without any cursed energy be so powerful. What Toji is currently might be Maki’s potential future and I think that’s what she might have thought while seeing him fight.

Sukuna at the time only had 3 fingers worth of power and was fighting without a heart. Now he has 15 fingers and his heart. Since Sukuna is at least 5 times stronger now and declared kill everyone in Shibuya except for one person, who or what do you think will stop him now that Gojo is sealed, or do you think he will do what he said and kill everyone? Also who is the one person Sukuna doesn't want to kill and why do you think he doesn't want them dead?

2024-11-11 23:44:40 +0000 UTCoh, gosh. you've no idea how flattered and validated your responses to my comment made me feel. i, in fact, have a BA in creative writing, with poetry being my favorite creative format. thank you, truly. im stoked to have made you jazzed up about ep 13, haha. so, first, in case no one else says it: you'll probably want to watch the next 2 episodes together, as well. not required, by any means, but it's another 2-part pair of titles, just like 14 / 15. ep 17 is also roughly the 'midway' of this arc, more or less. i had frankly forgotten how awesome the animation for ep 15 is. Toji is definitely a murder machine, and the animators did great at portraying just how strong and chaotic he is right now. which is still not even touching how terrifying Sukuna is at the end here, imho. it's the Music, for me; the haunting, choir-filled, sustained sound is equally unnerving, yet *worshipful* of Sukuna's might. Junichi Suwabe, Sukuna's Japanese VA, just kills it (hah) in this role. but, does it get more peak than this? yes. don't get me wrong -- i still hold ep 13 as my favorite, in terms of its overall, total execution as a piece of video media. but it *is* simple. it is contained. there is nothing simple or contained about what lies in store for you. also, last note: the next 2 episodes were hotly controversial at the time of their release, because the treatment of MAPPA exec's towards their animators was being reported *by* animators as Absolutely Horrific. you can see the results of that treatment in these 2 eps, as they were rushed through production at the cost of the animators' health. if you ever get the chance, the Bluray versions of 16 & 17 are far more polished than the versions that first aired, and are worth a watch at some point (if possible) to see the differences.

It came into Maki's possession after Geto lost it during the movie. And Geto acquired it after Toji died and the inventory curse he used for his weapons went to Geto.

But here, we can see how terrifying Jogo can be against other sorcerers. It literally took him one blow to deal with each of them. Also, shoutout to Megumi. He’s growing so much as a sorcerer, being able to battle with domains even though he only learned it recently. There was a quick mention, but Toji in his current state instinctively goes after the strongest, so him picking Megumi for a fight means that out of all the sorcerers there—including Maki, Nanami, and Naobito—he’s the strongest. It’s a small detail, but it says a lot about Megumi’s potential. Can’t wait for you guys to see more of him. Watching your reactions to these two episodes is so fun—your expressions are everything😂 Just a heads-up that it gets even crazier from here, so I’ll be praying for the wellbeing of your hearts.
