First time viewer kinda wish i tried harder to avoid the comments on here, your mods filter out spoilers when sending you screenshots of them to read in your reactions, but theyre still here for others to see :') i havent been loading the comments for these posts, just scrolling thru to try to get to the next episode, but some comments give away too much even tho theyre trying to hint it in a "vague" way 😭 i knew there was gonna be some type of romance from the first episode that komugi got introduced because of a comment on here but i wouldnt have picked it up that early on if i didnt manage to see the comment in passing. 😟

I partly disagree. I don’t think he thinks she’s a threat to himself. I think he genuinely thinks that she will hamper his idealized version of the King. Thus this would harm the King.

I’m not sure dictate is the right word. Many comments steer them in the right direction when they get confused. For example when they thought Ponzu was possibly reincarnated, I just told them no. She’s dead and gone because she was eaten by a random chimera ant. Is that dictating their viewing experience? I considered telling them about Komugi would fall under that category. Partly because the Kurapika theory or whatever is…not great and isn’t worth thinking about. Much like the idea that Ponzu might come back. Because it doesn’t make great logical sense with the writing.

How I took Pouf's "She is dangerous" line: Pouf has very high expectations and standards for what "his" king should be. Komugi's pure human influence to the king, him developing an alternative perspective on things, gaining patience to talk to humans like her, having some sort of empathy - those are what makes her dangerous to a Chimera Ant King, but more so to Pouf's idealized version of his King.

I think it's good in the long run. They think they have been spoiled by the chat that there will be some kind of revelation about Komugi xD Next time if they are accidentally spoiled by the chat, they might think it's a troll again

Why would you want to dictate how someone else experiences the series as a first time viewer? How many times have you watched it and what kind of theories did you have the very first time you watched it or were you right in line with exactly every plot twist as the author intended without reading the manga first? I’m a first timer and I enjoy seeing if I’m on the right track with what J & J think or am I having a completely different opinion of what’s happening and where I think it might lead. Unfortunately everything is spoiled for me if I read the comments here and in the chat. I’m glad J & J have a mod so they get to make it a crazy unique experience for themselves whether their theories are way out in left field or spot on.

to be fair to jared we have seen a complete face transformation in this series with illumi but yeah the theory is kinda insane. i think theyre just really missing or boy kurapika

That’s a fair point. It’s kinda funny that they’re acting like Pouf, and being really suspicious of Komugi. But honestly, the “is she Kurapika” theory is so dreadfully bad it’s hard to watch lol. It might honestly be the worst theory I’ve ever heard in my life in any medium lol.

i think we should just let them keep watching. i mean theyre having fun theorizing about it and i feel like they (especially jared) just like to think what the biggest kind of plot twist would be even when theres absolutely zero evidence supporting the theory. its just what their mind will go to and we will probably see them doing it again in the future. i think its alright and just part of the blind experience watching with them

The King was gaslighting himself with the "I am King" speech. He knows that there is something developing within himself. Some change or growth that has been sparked by the harmless, yet incredible opponent in gungi, Komugi. His instinct right now is actually to protect her and care for her, but he doesn't actually understand why. It's important to remember that he's technically a newborn. He hasn't even been alive for two weeks. There's still a lot of growth that remains to be seen with the King and his relationship with Komugi.
