Haikyuu!! 4x8 REACTION!

Yes! Tapping the toe of your shoe on the floor after you change from outdoor shoes to indoor shoes or vice versa is a super common anime trope, especially when it’s a school setting.

Remember the surname Hinata means “place in the sun” and Shoyo means “soar, fly.” Natsu’s given name means “summer.” So, she’s “summer place in the sun,” and loud, athletic, competitive, and cheerful like her big brother. Natsu’s contribution to the Haikyu!! narrative is more developed in the manga than the anime. Natsu to Hinata: “Niichan…You’re getting along with the ball now! It used to seem like the ball was a stranger. But you guys are like best friends now.” Cut to Hinata’s hands around a grubby, scuffed, well-used, well-loved volleyball. Couple the image with Natsu’s words and you have a lovely metaphor for Hinata’s growth journey. The ball has grown to be an extension of himself. He can manipulate it with greater precision and ease. It’s more than a tool; it’s his portal to deep and intrapersonal connections with his teammates and players on other teams. Natsu’s observation is testament to Hinata’s unwavering passion and countless hours spent nurturing his skills and deep love for the sport. J&J, did you ever carry a basketball with you everywhere? Did you ever sleep with one? How attached were you to pieces of equipment? Did you have any superstitions like wearing the exact same socks? Or body preparations like Kageyama and his nail care?

Just with the animation quality - you're gonna see dips in and out of quality. They made a decision to make it closer to the manga. Also, this season was made during the height of Covid, it took longer to come out and there were a lot of budget/staff cuts, so they needed to prioitise where the good stuff is needed. Don't fret too much - just ride it out :) For a "Coaches experience watching this show", you should watch Sarah Pavan youtube channel, shes an olympic beach volleyball gold medalist. Shes done a watch through already but shes doing a second watch through but with her Husband, who is a Volleyball Coach, and his insights are AMAZING, always breaking down what the coaches are thinking, what a coach would be thinking in certain situations, and his predictions are always on point. It's amazing to get that back stage pass to the inner workings of a volleyball team from player to management.

great analogy!

The control tower thing made me think of an analogy. The team is sort of like an airplane. The setter is the captain making decisions, the libero is the second officer(there to catch any mistakes and help out), and the other players are the cabin crew making sure everything gets accomplished. The coach then would be Air Traffic Control telling them what to do. Communication then is really important for the captain, and I really loved seeing how Kageyama faced this difficulty again Also fun fact, Natsu means summer (which really matches the last name Hinata, meaning facing the sun). I love that all the Haikyuu characters have names with such interesting meanings
