2024-10-07 08:14:17 +0000 UTCI don’t know if anyone has mentioned it before but are you guys watching Season 2 of JJK on Blue-ray? Bc if you aren’t I highly recommend, if you can, to do so. The animation on the Blue-ray is much better bc sadly, towards the end, when the episodes were first released some of the animation was incomplete. But they were able to finish it and the finished version is on Blue-ray. So if you can, I highly recommend you get that to have a better experience.

So, the timeline is as follow : Season 2 (2006) -> Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (2016-2017) -> Season 1 (2018). Basically, the events you see there are happening before anything you've watched at this point. Geto hasn't turned evil yet and is a second year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High alongside Gojo and Shoko (who is the doctor in Season 1 if you remember). Yaga, who is now the principal of the school, was their teacher at the time. Tengen's cursed technique is Immortality. Just as the name implies, it grants him eternal life. However, it does not stop him from aging, so their body and technique must be reset every 500 years, hence why he has to merge with a Star Plasma Vessel every 500 years. Star Plasma Vessels are young women who possess the requisite potential to refresh Immortality by merging with the user. Riko is currently the designated Star Plasma Vessel, sensed by Tengen. She was eventually made aware of her status by Jujutsu High staff. Q is an organization of curse users. They hoped to stop Master Tengen from resetting their cursed technique, believing it will cause Tengen to lose all reason, evolving into an enemy of humanity and Jujutsu High. With Bayer's defeat (Q's strongest soldier) by the hands of Gojo, Q is forced to disband. The Star Religious Group on the other hand worships Master Tengen as their deity referred to as the "Star", hence the name of the organization. They worship a pure Master Tengen. If Tengen were to merge with the Star Plasma Vessel, it would soil their purity and dissolve the association. They are non-curse users so they can't fight sorcerers like Q. Without the power to fight, the organization uses their resources to enlist the Sorcerer Killer. He is hired for thirty million yen to kill the vessel and prevent an impure merger. Really long comment this time, hope it clarifies all the info drop that you got in this episode. Keep up the good work ! The next episodes are going to get crazy !

To not spoil anything, I’ll simply say it was TOO good at adapting the manga. But I will always love the first part of this season. I listen to the opening and ending songs very often (they’re in my current rotation). But to explain a little on my previous comment about Daisuke Namikawa (Choso/Hisoka voice actor) he cheated on his wife with a teenager/minor (16), she (the wife) divorced him because of it. I said “he took the Hisoka role too far” bit because I’ve often see Hisoka being a bit too weird about Gon (a child). I haven’t finished HxH but I’ve seen enough Hisoka memes to get the gist.

(acts really young as well) Gojo in the present day (in season 1) is 28 years old. He was born in December 7th 1989.

2024-09-30 20:23:01 +0000 UTCI have to admit this episode was very hard to follow for me, the pacing seemed off compared to other episodes and it felt more like just a bombardment of info as if the show wanted to just unload as much info on us viewers and get it out of the way in this one episode, but I do have an idea of what's to come this season and can't wait !

But seriously the attention to detail for the timeline in this anime it's incredible. Even the references that Gojo made about the Digimon evolutions was just hilarious, hahhaha.

The idea is that an immortal person who kept "aging" past where normal people would die of old age would eventually "age" into something beyond human limits, something potentially dangerous to the world. To prevent this, every 500 years, Tengen finds a young person with a compatible body (the Star Plasma Vessel) and merges with them. This makes Tengen's mind/soul still thousands of years old, but they "reset" the aging process by going back into the physical body of a teenager. This avoids that "evolution" into something potentially dangerous. The Curse User Group Q wants Tengen to "evolve" to cause chaos in the Jujutsu world that they can take advantage of to gain power. The Star Religious Group worships Tengen as their god, and views Tengen "evolving" as their god reaching their true form. Therefor, both Q and the religious group want to kidnap/kill the Star Plasma Vessel, so Tengen can't "reset" into the younger body, and will end up "evolving".

Few things I wanted discuss: (1) Timeline - I love, as you mentioned, the level of detail in this episode, and particularly the things that hint at around what time this takes place. Mei’s flip phone, Gojo’s Digimon reference, and the old, clunky laptop (with Windows XP lol) Utahime was using, for example. To give you some context, Season 1 takes place in 2018, with Gojo being 28. If you consider that he’s a second-year in this episode, that puts him and the gang of characters we are (re)introduced to at around 15-16. So - do the math, it’s about 12 years before Season 1 - this arc takes place in 2006. I started high school in 2006 as well and it’s so nostalgic to think about being that age in that time. As for when the movie takes place, that happens about a year before Season 1 takes place. (2) Really curious about your thoughts regarding the conversation Gojo and Geto had while playing basketball. I love that scene because all you know about Geto up to this point from watching Season 1 is that he hates non-sorcerers and propagates “survival of the fittest” - the fittest being Jujutsu sorcerers- and then you hear him basically say he believes the opposite in this scene, lecturing Gojo (who we know in Season 1 to be a protector and educator) that Jujutsu exists to enable the weak to survive in society. Gojo at this point doesn’t give a crap about protecting the weak and seems to find it bothersome dealing with those who can’t keep up with him. Makes you wonder, what the hell happened to these boys?! Guess we’ll find out…;)
