HxH - Ep. 71 REACTION! *ALL PATRONS*

I finally caught up with all the reactions 🔥 amazing how this arc just went by so fast.

Hey J&J just a heads up, 4 episodes before the goated arc begins, the longest arc of the show and people complain that it drags, but trust the process and ready those minds more than the pens because you will be thrown into a different world once again, oh man I can't explain how excited I'm for it!

This was one of my favorite episodes in the whole series! It's first here that we learn a little bit more about Ging, see how strong the unbreakable bond between Gon and Killua has become, and see the foreshadowing of the difficult and complex trials awaiting our heroes... But, most important of all, we learn the inescapable fact that: Bungee Gum possesses the properties of both rubber and gum.

That actually makes sense too, especially as he considers Mito san as his mom even tho she's not biologically. I always thought it's weird and interesting these blood connections, cuz Gon didn't have the slightest interest in knowing who is his mother however he was willing to do everything to meet his dad, it could be that because he grew up with a mother figure but lacked a father figure and is just very curious about this man that is by blood his father (he takes after him too with his curiosity ngl) and he also most frequently calls or refers to him by name unless he wanna explain that it's his father. (i feel like im rambling rn as it's bed time)

Kiryuu Yona

i like both point of view, even if in my opinion Ging cant be a good or a bad father since he isnt a father at all, ur father isnt the one who share blood with you, it's the one who raise you, i have half-brother who consider my father as their father even if they arent blood related, and i had adopted friend who think the same, so to me Ging is just not a father at all, in fact Gon doesnt have any father since he had no man who raised him, he only have a mother, even if they arent blood related either x) but i get both or ur point, if i had to have a take on Ging (at this point of the story) i would have said he is probably a great guy but a bad father (not the worst one but not a good one either). its also depend of what matter the most to us, did we think the action someone do is what matter most or do we think the reason/motivation being said action is what truly matter ?

I agree with your point Maya, I'm not saying he was in the right with his decision to leave Gon alone this whole time however the at least he prepared for what is to come his way, Also look at Gon, there's also the fact that he doesn't resent hos father at all, I don't think it's okay to neglect this point, he's full of admiration towards this father he never met, also if he sets out for revenge on him then that's also a consequence that Ging has to bear however as Alpha said, Ging is very sharp beyond belief and knew what path his son would take and prepared for that with his own idea of what is best. This son that he most liekly didn't plan for and his dreams that we fully know are beyond time consuming and borderline impossible as well as he was very young and immature, I think it's fine to cut him some slack.

Don't ever let whatever is happening in this chaotic show distract you from the fact that bungee gum possesses the properties of both rubber and gum.

Bungee Gum possesses the properties of both rubber and gum.

Ging’s insane levels of intuition is an established fact in the Hunter x Hunter world. There’s no point asking what if Gon never wanted to be hunter. We can only deal with the reality. The reality is, Ging knew that Gon wanted to be a hunter. Ging knew that Gon would one day be on Greed Island and encounter Razor. Ging knew what Gon would become and what he can handle. Ging knew that Gon would take on every challenge head on and often with a smile on his face. Ging was right every step of the way and frankly, he will continue to be right. Ging would also agree that he was a poor father as he said on the tape. He’s well aware that his parenting style (or lack thereof) isn’t for everyone. I also highly disagree that he doesn’t care about Gon’s well being. Frankly, it’s the opposite and this is established by the end of the anime and from the beginning as well. He left Gon to grow up in a peaceful place with good people on Whale island. There’s much worse places to grow up.

I truly understand what you are saying Maya and Kiryuu. I have to agree with both of you. I know what it feels like to be Ging because sometimes some parents (and through learning) you aren't mentally and physically ready to be a parent. Sometimes it's best that your child is raised with strong support. However, Ging has to take responsibility as it is selfish to leave Gon behind. Because Ging could at least visited him. At the least yk. Also, he could have still been there for him. It's to show care. I do believe he loves Gon but I need him to be honest with him and apologize also. Gon matters and if Gon wasn't mature in thought, he could have sought Ging for revenge rather than to see him.

When Phinks called Hisoka he was well aware that it wasn’t Chrollo he’s speaking to. In an earlier episode, the Troupe had already deduced that it wasn’t Chrollo who was currently in the game. In fact, you might recall that Hisoka had already met up with the Troupe on Greed Island. It was Chrollo who had told Hisoka to enter the game using Chrollo’s name. Chrollo had a couple conditions set by Kurapika. One, he couldn’t use nen so he could have never entered Greed Island in the first place. Second, he couldn’t communicate with the Troupe at all and couldn’t communicate his plans to get his nen back. Hisoka was hired by Chrollo to find the nen exorcist in Greed Island, and I guess he also served as a go-between for the Troupe and Chrollo who couldn’t have any communication. Phinks stated on the call to Hisoka “we found him”. This is the nen exorcist that Hisoka is supposed to lead to Chrollo. The Troupe can’t do it themselves because they can’t communicate with Chrollo.

Whew! Finally I have caught up to HunterxHunter! Most people here know that I'm huge on the production, editing and acting standpoint. That comes with being a lover of the arts all these years. I commend the music in these episodes. They truly fit the atmosphere and what is happening in the scenes. The editing is SPECTACULAR! I love how they show the cause and effect of each power. Allowing the camera to naturally roam in fights. I'm impressed! And of course the acting. One thing I will always say is give 1,000 percent credit to the voice actors. They do a amazing job with the help of the animation team to evokee emotions like love, passion, anger, also relatability, and strength into each character. And the character development of Gon and Killua is beautiful to see both in individually and together. I can't wait to see Kurapika and Leorios character developments too since they have been apart. One thing I noticed is all 4 of them are fireballs but they show it differently. Sometimes the Big 4 don't have control on when to be angry and when not. So I was glad to see Gon corrected on that but at the same Gon taking it realizing he was wrong. I can also relate to letting your emotions get the best of you depend on the situation. Thats why I love this show. Its always the little things. This show feels like life. Yeah it has its supernatural elements. But the realism that it shows with each character whether good or bad is commendable. It's like AOT in showing the grey layers. Also, I love the Where in Ging because it reminds me of where is Grisha lol. Thank you J&J for your commentary and analysis. It only makes this show that more excellent.

I can see where you are coming from, but I would have to disagree. I feel very icky about the hunt of sorts Ging set out for Gon because this is the only way he will be able to meet his father, so let’s say Gon never wanted to be a hunter or even was strong enough to be a hunter. does that make him underserving to meet his father? I know that would be very unlikely cause Gon is the main character, but it highlights for me why Ging is a poor father because it is not a parent’s job to expect greatness from their children. it’s their job to be there to support and love their children. The point about him making the Greed Island game for his son is admirable. However, I believe it was still motivated by his selfish desire of being a hunter. I also think Ging cares very little for the safety and health of his son, as proven by what is to come in the show.

Maya

Honestly this may a bit controversial to say but I don't think Ging is that bad of a father, yes he didn't raise his son or take care of him when he was growing up which cannot by no means be justified, however he left him in a safe place instead of abandoning him in Meteor city like all the Phantom goup members, and with ppl that he knew are gonna love and raise him much better than he would ever have. Plus the fact that he literally spent years creating a game that must have needed so much money and different skill sets just to train his son that he never met but believed in, because let's be honest, how many dads out there believe in the potential of their sons or daughters and support their dreams and decisions.. it's often met with objections and criticism and doubts and unfaith in the kids... Meanwhile ging believed in himself and believed in his son as well. Also, he's a very famous hunter, top 5 nen user as netero said so he must have surely made dozens if not hundreds of enemies so it may have been the right decision to leave his son away for him and harm's way until Gon makes the decision for himself to step into that kind of world.
