HxH - Ep. 58 REACTION! *ALL PATRONS*

Comments

I finally caught up and excited for the next arc. You get to meet new interesting characters. Also my favorite characters are Killua, Kurapika, Melody, and Gon. Maybe in that order it may change with this new arc. Thanks for the reaction J&J 💜

I agree Alpha.. The manga isn't finished yet and the way the story seems to be going.. we don't know whats actually the truth

This episode always seems to keep me on my toes no matter how many times I watch it. Absolutely brilliant! Pakunoda's death and Kurapika getting sick actually gave me tears.. and it is the end of yorknew city arc but definitely not the end of Kurapika and the Phantom Troupe's story.

yep i would add Phinx was the one totaly oposed to Pakunoda and doesnt wanna let her go alone with Gon and Killua for the hostage trade, he was unable to understand her choice but he is the one who seems to change the most and be the most impact when he receive the bullets, they dont only cary memory but also the feeling of Paku, these bullet make everything clear and resolve the internal crisis the troupe might have had.

It’s just beautiful how Phinks went from someone who was so against Paku’s actions, to the main person who understood what Paku felt and the reasoning behind her actions. His line of “I understand everything”, while looking at Paku’s corpse, and “Paku wanted to thank you”, while talking to Gon and Killua, are just so powerful. Especially since I’ve always felt as thought Phinks and Paku represented the two differing ideals within the Troupe. One side was opting for loyalty to the Rules of the Spider. The other side opted for loyalty to the head of the Spider. Another way of putting it, is that one side was loyal to Chrollo the boss, while the other side was loyal to Chrollo the friend. But in the end they were both fighting for the same thing, just in different ways. Just the way Phinks could empathize with Paku’s choices, even if he would’ve made different ones, is such a testament to the Troupe’s bonds. And that in death, Phinks would pass along her message…. I’m sobbing

Something worth noting that isn’t mentioned in the anime, but mentioned in the manga, is that each member of the Troupe doesn’t know the full scope/range of the other Spider’s abilities. They may know the general idea of a member’s ability, but they don’t know every application of said ability. For instance, all the members knew that Paku could read memories by touching someone and asking a question. BUT, most didn’t know about her “Memory Bomb” (the ability to share memories by shooting a target). Therefore that’s why some of the members were shocked when Paku pointed a gun at them at the end. Paku knew most of them didn’t know of her ability, which is why she asked them, “Do you trust me?”. Coupled with the fact she was under suspicion of being controlled by the chain user, they literally thought she was going to kill them. And Paku knew how the situation looked so she was asking them to trust her one final time. Phinks was apprehensive, but Nobunaga had already seen and experienced her ability (and although it could’ve been a bluff from Paku), he still placed his trust in her and extended Paku’s final request by telling Phinks to have faith bc it’s still Paku (one of their oldest friends). TLDR: The founding members of the Troupe all trust each other so much, they’re willing to let a trusted friend shoot them in the head, even if there’s a chance it kills them.

ngl, Paku made me cry lol

Hi J&J! a few things you missed: 1. The friend Hisoka mentioned that disguised himself as a dummy Hisoka is none other than Illumi. You even saw him in the last scene of the previous episode remember? He even said "I've known you longer than Chrollo anyway" meaning he's willing to lend Hisoka a hand even though technically Chrollo is his employer (he was hired by Chrollo to kill the 10 Dons). 2. Kurapika fell sick after all the drama due to the strain of using his Judgement Chain and Scarlet Eyes, not because Pakunoda died. Remember he mentioned before that using his specialist power takes a lot out of him so he can't stay too long in that state. 3. The part where it's a first-person view of Pakunoda talking to Gon and Kil asking them why they're not running away is a memory that got passed on to Phinx, that's why he said "Pakunoda wants to Thank You" because he knows Paku felt thankful to Gon and Kil for not running away from her. Hope this helps! :)

Watching this episode has always made me emotional, as I find Pakunoda’s sacrifice and story to have been so beautifully written. This moment hits especially different after the most recent chapters of the manga and extra page in the new volume’s release 😭

I think it would be best to make it optional AFTER finishing the series since it doesn't line up with any of the current flow

When Hisoka briefly talked to Pakunoda about leaving a “dummy” in his place, he was referring to his friend (which was Illumi) that used his needles to disguise himself as Hisoka at the hideout. If you remember, Illumi used to disguise himself as ‘Gittarackur’ during the Hunter exam, and this is basically the same thing except in Hisoka form. Also note: You can see Illumi at the end of the last episode, which you were correct in identifying based on his hair.

Love all the boys looking so dapper in their tuxes for the auction 🤵 and when they YEETED themselves right out of the theater when they saw phinks and feitan 😂

There's still a lot of mystery about what really happened with the Kurta clan. More to come in the manga I suspect :)

Alpha

Let them judge the movie, but Togashi did help in making the movie

The Phantom Troupe really are some amazing villains. It feels like they invoke feelings of empathy in some of us (or maybe it's just me) Not necessarily sympathy because they have done terrible things and tbh they had it coming. Im sure they have many enemies that also wish death upon them. But witnessing their conversations, knowing their backgrounds, and being able to get a peek into their inner thoughts makes me feel like personality-wise... maybe they aren't so bad and deep down they truly care and respect one another. They are still immoral lol

Kenken

I thought it was beautiful how Phinks was against Pakunoda the most during the hostage situation, but after receiving her memories he became the most sympathetic to her actions and understood them the most. It's why he's one of my favorite Phantom Troupe members. Phinks was the one who said "Paku wanted to thank you". The flashback of Pakunoda talking to Gon and Killua was actually Phinks replaying that memory Pakunoda gave him. Oh, and Kurapika felt ill due to the amount of strain and stress he was under, and also because he was using his abilities a lot. The Phantom Troupe vs Kurapika is still a plot yet to be finished but it's pretty clear that it may happen very soon in the manga. I suspect the full story of The Phantom Troupe and Kurapika will wrap up with the current manga arc.

Alpha

The movie is frankly trash and not canon.

Alpha

isn't that movie not lore accurate?

Shoto IcyHot (Slussh)

Now that you guys finished this arc it’s time to watch the first movie Hunter x Hunter Phantom Rouge. 🙏 please guys I love your reactions.

Federico Toxqui

Jared, Jordan, I really hope that comment about setting up a shrine dedicated to the Phantom Troupe was just in jest. As admirable as Pakunoda's sacrifice is, the Troupe has committed genocide against Kurapica's clan and nothing they do can redeem them in my eyes. Uvogin expressed zero remorse for his actions, and I doubt any of the other Troupe members would.
