Hi J&J I just can't help but chuckle at how you guys were so suspicious of our good guy Wing lol XD If you put yourselves in his shoes, knowing that NEN is a powerful technique that could be used to kill people...would you just carelessly teach it to kids you don't personally know? where 1 of them even beat your own student to a pulp lol He just wanted to see if Killua and Gon are worth teaching, and if they had good intentions. And technically he didn't completely lie, he still taught them the fundamentals and just used different analogies and terminologies hehe, so forgive him already ^_^ That being said, as someone who regards Hisoka as one of my all-time favorite anime character...I understand that you find him creepy, vile and sadistic....but can't you look pass that and try to analyze what he's doing right now? he's not just simply toying with Killua and Gon to ruin their chance to register.....remember, the level 200s consists of very powerful opponents who most probably can already use NEN....soooooo, why do you think he's going out of his way to block our 2 main characters? im curious to know what you think 😁

Hisoka is like a fly that’s hard to get rid of. When you think you’ve got it, there it goes buzzing again. Though, it is exciting when he’s around becuz you just don’t know what’s to come but like sir, please leave the kids alone for a little. I thought we weren’t gonna see him for a while.

I love how three of the shows we are watching seem to have similar concepts and words like the terms "Hunters" and "Murderous intent" are also used in Solo Leveling.. and the concept of Nen is almost as same as the cursed energy and cursed technique in JJK since the author of JJK is a big fan of HxH.

Ok I'm convinced after seeing this episode, hxh is a prequel to jjk and Gojo is really Killua grown up 🤣 BTW any other first time watchers like me immediately start thinking Wing and Hisoka are the same person after he threw the book page? The show even zooms in on wings eyes a lot similar to what we see with hisoka....idk I'm on the fence still with master chicken Wing 🍗

Just for perspective, if you base HunterxHunter money off Japanese currency, you should very roughly divide by 100 to understand the U.S. equivalent. So in the very first opening match when they win 152 jenni and get just enough to pay for a soda, that would be $1.52. When Killua says he spent 200 million jenni in prize money on snacks, that would be U.S. $2 million Also on the two different explanations for ten/ren/zetsu/hatsu and nen that Wing gave...it can be hard to understand how Wing tricked/misled Gon and Killua without being able to read Japanese. the characters that Wing is writing on the board are the kanji (Japanese characters) for nen/ten/ren etc. Many kanji characters are homonyms, meaning that they are pronounced the same way but have totally different meanings. An example of homonyms in English would be band (music group) and band (tying something together) and band (the material used to hold something together), or bear (to endure something) and bear (animal). When Wing gave the first, slightly misleading explanation of nen etc. he wrote characters that literally are read as "nen" "ren" etc. but are not the RIGHT characters. it would be like if he explained that the secret to being powerful is a band (music group) instead of a band (tying something together). I don't know if this is at all a clear explanation haha but what i'm trying to say is that he was misleading them through word play. that's why when he finally gives the real explanation, you see him write a bunch of new characters on the whiteboard. he's showing them the correct versions of nen, ren, ten, etc.

Hey J&J! I currently caught Covid 19 so I was able to binge watch your reaction to my personal favorite anime! The sickness is rough but the videos are helping a lot :) You guys are starting to get into the good stuff! Nen is IMO arguably the best power system in anime and probably my favorite in fiction in general! Don't stress it too much you'll get to learn about it slowly but surely :) Excited to rewatch HxH with you guys!

Wow Jared, Jordan, you are that traumatized by Wing's fibbing? Would you forgive him if he buys you steak dinners? =) On a more serious note, keep those notepads open, this is just the tip of the iceberg for Nen. There is so so so much more to come. It won't always make perfect sense, but a lot will be amazing to see. I'm willing to forgive the imperfections, considering the sheer scope and ambition by the show's author.

Nen is a technique that allows a person to use and manipulate their own life energy (aura). Ten : Defense technique. It involves surrounding your body with your aura to protect yourself. Like an armor. Ren : Intensifying your aura. It’s used to boost physical power and abilities. Punches and kicks, your speed etc. Hatsu : Project your aura outside of your body, typically used for attacks. Like making the opponent feel fear, depends on the user creativity. Zetsu : Shutting off the flow of your aura. It’s used to conceal your presence, making it harder for others to detect you. Like stealth and Its also increases the user perception.

One detail I gotta give kudos to the artists/animators for is how they did the marker writing on the whiteboard. They made it look like actual dry-erase marker brushstrokes and I just think it's so cool and I had to mention it. And I just knew, and I'm sure I'm not alone, that y'all would feel betrayed once it was revealed Wing wasn't being truthful when he first explained Nen to the boys. "Make it make sense!" The salt from you two because of that had me cracking UP! Always a fun time with yall.

Well now I'd like to tell you "welcome to Hunter x Hunter" All the past episodes are just prologue to me and now the anime begins. I think this is the most I laughed during a reaction when I saw both of you diligently writing down the fake explanations lmao
