2024-08-31 16:51:26 +0000 UTCthis is my first time watching hxh! i am not the biggest shonen fan. actually, the reason why i watched most of the shonen anime series that ive seen is because either my mom or my friend chose the anime so that we could watch together. almost none of them were because i had picked them out myself. it took my friend almost a whole year to convince me to watch haikyuu with them and now it's one of my favorite shows. hunter x hunter is another one of those shows that ive never had any interest in watching. but since you guys are reacting to it, ive decided to keep an open mind 😉 and watch it to see if it will also end up being another show that i come to love.

Kurapika is so cute and guys this is the third anime I see you both comparing characters with Armin XD can't blame you both because I end up comparing with AOT characters too I just love Gon's optimism so much but I'm scared the world of hunters isn't going to be as exciting as he thinks..

2024-07-09 10:19:43 +0000 UTCyaaaaaaaaaay!!!!! thank you so much everyone who voted for HxH!!! and thank you J&J for including this in the poll :) Like Roberto in the comment before mine, there are a lot of other awesome animes out there of course that are top tier in terms of animation, storyline, etc. depending on people's taste....but personally, HxH is also my all-time favorite! I grew up with them! and yes you are spot on in noticing that this anime is slower to let you get to know the characters more which eventually will make you feel attached to them. Just know that this is an adventure anime thus will be slower paced than usual, but you'll understand why moving forward. And FYI, Gon is 12 yrs. old during this time. Oh and I really do hope you find a moderator soon coz we need some cleansing in the comment sections at times lol

Just to be as clear as possible, aot according to me is the best anime ever created, so to anime newbies i would definitely suggest aot for the reasons u now know. But hxh is my favourite one. Unfortunately this anime is very very slow, the plot is very linear, so for u guys to appreciate it, it will take a lot of time. But trust me when i says it deserves to be seen. This is for sure the best shonen ever made so let's enjoy together this new journey :D

2024-07-09 03:29:13 +0000 UTCLeorio is kinda edgy, but, in the manga, he was the first one to go straight to help Katsuo even though they were in battle, and Kurapika noticed it (there's a manga panel where he paused a bit looking at Leorio rushing to Katsuo), so he followed Leorio to help too. That's when he learned what kind of person Leorio is... kinda harsh in words but not hesitant to help others by risking himself, so he's kind-hearted inside.

A little non-spoiler background information: this series is not complete and may never be completed, as the author of the original manga has chronic health issues that force him to go on extended breaks. However, it's so much fun that HxH has devoted fans even if we may never get full satisfaction. (On a side note, fun fact--the author is one of the most successful male manga writers of all time, and he is married to one of the most successful female manga writers of all time, Naoko Takeuchi, the creator of Sailor Moon. What a power couple!!)

2024-07-09 02:28:40 +0000 UTCi'm so glad that you guys are gonna be watching hxh! it's in my top three animes righht along side haikyuu and aot (how fitting for this channel) but i think you guys will definitely have a ball with these characters! they're all very well written and you can certainly build a real connection with them (unlike aot for obvious reasons lol). i truly love this anime with all my heart and i hope you enjoy it too! my favorite character is kurapika! (and armin... i think i have a type lol😂) the anime can get dark but it's also a lot of fun!! enjoy this beauty of a show!

Now you guys know that my profile picture is Gon (and another character 🫶🏻) 😆 HxH is such a good meme material in Japan lol when I read HxH for the first time (about 1.5 years ago), that was the time I understood most of the lines used by Japanese internet people are from HxH. Even dialogues in small panels or extra characters are so memorable that people often use them on the internet 🤣

2024-07-09 02:17:38 +0000 UTCso excited yall are watching this!! for some clarification (although im sure others have commented this already) ging's name is pronounced like jing (so jin of bts with a g at the end). he left to take the hunter exam when he was 12, just like gon is now, and when he returned to whale island as an adult/official hunter, he essentially abandoned gon with mito. mito is ging's sister, so he's gon's aunt. this part on the boat was like a preliminary round of the hunter exam, to "trim the fat" as the captain said, before the official exam begins. the actual exam is much harder and even deadly, as we can infer from mito's hesitation with gon's participation, mito pleading with him to "just get home safe", and the captain explaining his role in the exam process. this is literally my favorite anime of all time and ive rewatched almost 5 times already (and im ready to rewatch with yall too). the white haired kid with his hands in his pockets is my favorite character of the show, so im very excited for yall to meet him too :)

I remember you guys having a hard time pronouncing my name when I commented on an early episode of haikyuu. You can say "your" with a "B" in front and then "ken" afterwards. Byourken. If you wish to continue following Gon and his friends' stories you should definitely check out the manga.

And honestly Yu Yu Hakusho (YYH), made by the same author/mangaka, has my heart - I wouldn't have fallen into HxH had I not loved YYH first. But I have to say this 2011 version is so incredibly well done. The original manga inspired a lot of themes/characters/tropes we see in popular manga/anime that came after it, so I'm actually glad you're watching this ahead of some of the other big hitters! Can't wait to see your journey with this one. Enjoy the ride!!

It was a very good start. Gon is so nice and caring. I like his character. I’m ready to see more out of the 3; Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio. Definitely an interesting trio.

Because you are watching the 2011 re-release version which has a much faster pacing than the original 1999 run. I personally prefer the 1999 version because of all the extras they packed in it, but the 2011 version is more faithful to the manga and should be plenty enjoyable for you two to watch!

2024-07-08 23:18:21 +0000 UTCThis is by far in my 10 years of anime exp a top 5 anime to me, I don't like making lists or rankings to animes but it's a strong contender to top 1. Imo it's very well written and has a good mix of lightheartedness and seriousness, the OSTs are all so good and some others are the most epic in anime OSTs in general, the world building is rather well paced so you won't feel lost and ofc the main character Gon is probably the most likeable character of all time (I don't think I've ever seen someone express dislike towards him). I'm really excited to see you guys react to it and I am 100% sure you will enjoy it and I look forward to how your comments and thoughts will probably get longer and longer over the course of watching. PS. I don't know if someone mentioned it but Ging is pronounced like Jin ^^ PS 2. You should remember what you said about ep 75, you're in for a big long yet eventful ride

2024-07-08 22:52:55 +0000 UTCi can’t even express how happy i am hxh was chosen for the new otaku gold series! throughout my journey watching a little over 300 anime now, this has remained my favorite for 6 years. basically since i first watched it! i won’t say much about story however i’d love to share a few fun facts to get you more invested into the show, and to share a bit about its genius author ( Togashi Yoshihiro ) Firstly, Togashi is married to another prominent author in the industry, Naoko Takeuchi. She’s the creator of sailor moon if you’re familiar! you can see how they inspire each other in their works. in manga volumes sometimes Naoko will draw a character to put in one of hxh’s ending pages. their relationship is so sweet! You may know this one already, but there’s actually 2 versions of the hxh anime! the 1999 version, and the 2011 version that you’re currently watching. The 1999 version is worth a watch after you’re finished. it adds a little bit more to Leorios character, in the way of a very small filler arc that was cut out of the remake. for context “filler arcs” are how many people, notably the anime community, refer to parts of the story that weren’t in the original source material and/or don’t directly add to the main story. in this case the original source material is the manga. i won’t make you read too much so i’ll stop after this one! this is mostly me taking pride in how amazing Togashi is as an author, and how much positive influence he’s had on the community. Many works have been directly inspired by his. Mostly by his two most popular series, hxh and another called Yu Yu Hakusho. notable series that have been inspired by him are Naruto, Toriko, and Bleach. to end off i wanna say i truly hope you enjoy this series as much as i have! i’ve been watching you guys for i think 4 months now, and i’ve very quickly become invested in your journey through these series. i think this will be a very fun series for you guys, there’s so much theory potential and the characters, world building, music, fights, etc. are all top tier. keep up the good work, you’re both absolutely incredible! ah also i forgot to add, gon is 12 years old here! more ages will be mentioned for the others soon.

2024-07-08 22:46:33 +0000 UTCSo, I am actually watching this for the first time WITH you guys, but I am keeping myself at least a week's worth of episodes ahead of yall just so I can get the reactions first LOL This anime is not like the others you've watched where you are sort of just "tossed" into an end of the world survival or curse infested or high stakes event. It's a slow build, but from where I'm at up at episode 11, it does get better in story and with the characters from what I can see. Also, from how everyone else speaks about the anime, the show as a whole is really well written, so I can't wait to see what's next in the weeks ahead for us!!!

In total there are 6 openings with the same song but different visuals. The endings are all different like usual (also 6 in total) (the ending songs are such bangers I love them)
