16:00 - it was actually ennoshita (and the two other 2nd years kinnoshita and narita) who quit the club for a bit! when ennoshita was telling suga that it's worse when you run away and yamaguchi knows that, he was talking about himself quitting the club, and yamaguchi running away from his "job" on the court as a pinch server (doing the jump float serve)

Hey Lukas, you can try upgrading now if you’d like!

Jared & Jordan

Hey J&J, I'm trying to upgrade membership but it seems to be sold out. Anything you can do about that please?

Though I’m rooting for Karasuno, my favorite moment in these last 2 sets was watching Seijoh’s 3rd years - Oikawa, Iwaizumi (#4), Hanamaki (#3), and Matsukawa (#2). When the first set was starting and they told him that he owes them ramen if he missed his serve, I died 🤣 You can feel the bond that they share and the complete faith that they have in their captain. If Oikawa is the glue that holds the team together, the rest of the 3rd years are the pillars that support him in his role. Can’t wait for next week! One moooore Yamaguchi! 🙌🏽 Gooooo Karasuno! 🏐🔥

Yes I felt bad for them about that!

This match was insane, even though it was kinda unfair for Slovenia because Japan had more time to condition themselves since they had the last match 2 days before the semifinal, while Slovenia had the match just a day before 😅 but I guess luck is also part of the winning!

yamaguchi is probably the character i relate the most to. during my early days of playing volleyball, i wasnt a regular either, of course my technique was bad and my ball control overall really clumsy. but the one thing i really managed to make my own, was my serves. i had a lot of power, more than other players or other teams, so my serves would usually end in service aces. however, i ONLY managed to score because of power. my technique of the serve was still over all bad. the older i got, and the more i wanted to become a regular, the more i tried improving my technique in volleyball. but because of that, to make sure i get the technique for the serves right, i had to take away power. so the serves that usually scored, now didnt even make it over the net, the way i hit them. i started hitting them an easier way so they WOULD go over the net. but they were easy to receive and took away the ONE thing i thought i owned in volleyball. It was especially disappointing during matches. I was known to get us 4-5 points in a row just with my serves, and turned into someone where the others were praying my serves would even make it over. i could have backed away and said, I'll just go back to my powerful, clumsy serves, at least they land. but i wouldnt have improved if i did that. So just like yamaguchi, i went to my coach and i stood up for my mistakes and promised him to not run away anymore, by reducing the power of my serves just so they land. as coach ukai said: "How effectively you serve, will determine if you can win or not" Now I'm someone who serves with more power than anyone else on my team, and also manages to score lots of points with it. because i practiced the shit out of it. While also my overall volleyball technique has improved a lot, and I'm a better player in total, more complete. Yamaguchi was failing and running away over and over again, in the end he realised, even if the chance of messing up is higher, the chance of WINNING will increase just the same. And i try to tell that to myself every time i serve. There is no point in holding back a powerful serve, if it's meant to bring victory. Haikyuu just manages to make the most niche struggles in sports but also the most known struggles an accessible topic and the way it is portrayed is so realistic. thats why i love this anime so much.

by the way, i don't know if you guys noticed, but the speech the Seijoh coach used towards the end regarding the serve being the only solitary play in volleyball before Oikawa served, is the same speech, word for word, that coach Ukai used for Yamaguchi. and the one who scored the winning point for Seijoh this set was Iwaizumi, i already explained who he is to you on my comment in the previous episode, he's so prominent and important for this team.

bella

yamaguchi's growth from the first seijoh match is actually phenomenal, i don't think people appreciate it enough because he's really anxious and insecure about not being talented enough and yet he works so hard and despite running away, he achieves it with support from his longtime best friend too, it's so heartwarming. also you pointing out the friendship between the Seijoh third years is so important to me omg they're so wholesome and underrated by first time reactors, but they're all really fun together, i so agree with you fr.

bella

yamaguchi's redemption moment is so important narratively and it never fails to make me emotional, as well as tsukki's rare moments of softness only directed towards him like his smile and the "get another one" comment, and ennoshita recognizing that yamaguchi must feel so much better now that he accomplished this because he ran away. oikawa is single handedly the strongest server in the show, so for him to recognize yamaguchi's improvement in that little comment was everything as well. someone else in the comments mentioned that people don't pay enough attention to the bond between the aoba johsai third years because it's not karasuno, and that's true, too. their friendship is also so special, like the way they were all calm after yamaguchi got his points and even smiled while teasing oikawa. re-watches make you appreciate them so much more. loved the reaction!

bella

Who's going to win?? Let's find out. 💪🏼 You guys should definitely try to watch the last 3 episodes all together.

Angélica Hernández

I absolutely love Yamaguchi’s redemption moment. Hard work and persistence really does pay off. Also, it was actually Ennoshita that faked sick and temporarily quit (along with Kinoshita and Narita). Yamaguchi never left.

You think the first 12 minutes of this episode(episode 22) were thrilling wait till you see episode 24 which is my favourite episode of not only season 2 of Haikyuu but the entire series. I can't wait for you to watch it. Also it was not Yamaguchi that quit that was Ennoshita. Also it is said that Oikawa has the most powerful serve in the series although there are some fans who debate that there are more powerful serves than Oikawa but I can't say their names yet since you have not watched the full series yet.

Nightwing

Hello! Happy 4th of July! Let me jump right in and say: This is such an impactful episode. The fact that Yamaguchi was such a timid person throughout most of the series and always following behind tsukki. He’s grown so much since the last seijoh match. Remember when he confronted tsukki at the training camp about “what do we have if not our pride” he really came through with it in this episode. Also the fact that tsukki made the comment about how it wasn’t surprising that he made the serve, because he saw how hard yamaguchi worked for it. There’s also something to say about how when seijoh picked up the serve and yamaguchi received it thinking “I’m not going to let you serve yet” and the person to make the point is tsukki who then tosses the ball to him saying “one more”. There’s so much to that, and I think it gets glossed over sometimes. Side note: I think another thing that people don’t really do, because it’s not karasuno, is paying attention to the 3rd years of seijoh during the match. There’s just something about their bond that is really touching actually. Just saying. Can’t wait for the next “set” of reactions! P.S you told me to tell you about turning 30. One thing to look out for, and I thought my friends were exaggerating because it happened to them too, is literally the day I turned 30 I thought I threw out my back when getting out of bed! Like wtf is that about! My body literally went “oh you’re 30? Well, here’s what that feels like” lol anyway, love the reactions as always! Keep em coming!!! Have a lovely day!

Yamaguchi is that underdog we all want to support, he's the kind that isn't naturally gifted but one that works hard and we want to see him keep trying after failing and when he finally succeeds it's the best feeling ever 🥰

I couldn’t help myself and felt compelled to share some great volleyball that happened this past weekend if you guys are interested ! At the national level, men can spike the ball over ~70mph~ so as you can imagine, most rallies end pretty quickly with the ball moving so fast. Japan played Slovenia in the VNL semi-finals and had this 50-second rally that was just absolutely electric and I had to share ! If you’re interested, the play starts at 5:14 and ends around 6:44 (I recommend including the slow-mo replays after the rally to really appreciate how these guys are throwing everything on the line to just keep the ball in play). Absolute mad skill from both sides but Japan’s tenacity is really something else in this clip in particular https://youtu.be/HKhuiLq7-XM?si=w2sswO1BuTobW6wm

Hey guys! First sorry for my English. I just want to say that this moment of Yamaguchi bring me to tears! He's such a pure soul and he wants to be part of the team, being able to make them proud. And he made it!! He was able to surpass He's fear and i so proud of him. Anyways thanks for your reactions, i been follow you guys since bts reaction. I hope you have a wonderful day. Much love from Argentina 🩵🤍🩵

The YamaGOAT has arrived. There's no feeling like making a mistake when you're not a regular, even if you know nobody is really blaming you, you still can't help but get saddled with the responsibility of messing up. When you're not in the starting line up, you always feel replaceable, and you can only hope that you get another chance to show that you've corrected that error. There's a desperation for bench players that is different from the 1st string because any play really could be your last. Controlling that one moment, showing your understanding and devotion, PROVING your understanding and devotion, that you learned, developed and improved is a level of vindication that can't be compared.
