Haikyuu!! 2x19 REACTION!

also it wasnt really important, more of just to like to get you pumped for the next episode. but there was a tiny little after-credit scene in this episode :)

31:48 - it's both a feint and dump. a feint just means to make a deceptive play. so in this case, when the setter acts like they're going to set but they actually dump it instead, then that's a feint. when a hitter does a feint, they act like they're going to spike the ball normally, but they "tip" it instead. what Futakuchi was telling Kogane was that he doesn't have to feint (try to trick the other team) if he wants to do a dump, he can just spike it down on the second touch without trying to be deceptive. which is why kageyama says "you wouldn't be able to get that even if you saw it coming".

Iwaizumi's phrase about "the stronger six" that Kageyama brings up is a bit tricky to translate, and it's not conveyed well in this episode. The manga translation is better: "Whichever six players are stronger /as a team/ are going to be the ones to win". "As a team" is the key part here. The subs made an extra mistake: Kageyama says that Iwaizumi was talking NOT about addition but rather about multiplication. So originally Kageyama understood that phrase as "just put together the six volleyball players with the highest stats and they'll make the best team". But now he realizes that it's not as simple and straightforward, and that it's not just raw skill that counts but also ~team chemistry~ that plays an essential role. Team chemistry allows to go from just adding strength together to multiplying them and, as a result, getting a much more solid, stronger team. And helping the team make that transition is as essential part of the setter's job. That's also why Iwaizumi felt the need to make Oikawa understand that — back in junior high, Oikawa was putting too much responsibility on himself and his personal improvement. Of course skill matters, but it's not the sole defining factor, especially in a team sport like volleyball (which is considered to be one of the most "team sports" out there just because the plays you can do solo are very limited). Iwaizumi reminded Oikawa of that, Oikawa realized it, and Aobajousai were able to win their first set against Shiratorizawa in the tournament after that. And another line which I think hits better in Japanese. Kageyama says, "No matter what team [Oikawa's] on, he's able to bring out the spikers's strength better than I can". Hinata replies, "Huh. Well, even if that's true, [that applies to all teams] EXCEPT Karasuno, see?". Essentially he's telling Kageyama that even with Oikawa being an overall better setter at this point in time, there is no better setter for Karasuno than Kageyama, which I think is just really sweet.

One of my all-time favorite teams and several of my all-time favorite players are from S4! Very excited and I think I know to whom you are referring.😊 So much goodness in this series!

Hey I have returned, haven't been commenting as much because I've been stressed due to college applications and an incident where my house almost burned down but that's a story for another time. I'm so excited for you guys to react to the other and other seasons specifically season four because there are a lot of characters I want you to meet, the people who finished haikyuu will know which characters I'm speaking about lol. 😂 Also the other openings for the other seasons can't wait to see your opinions on that. Jpop is my favorite after kpop and I've been listening to a Japanese group under the same label as BTS and honestly their music rocks. Today my younger brother was watching the reaction with me and even though his 8 year old mind could barely comprehend most of what was being said, he still said he liked you guys. Can't wait to see more from you guys, keep it up Lots of love from South Africa🇿🇦

Yay for Haikyuu!! Thursday

Angélica Hernández

Yachi hugging the AED heart defibrillator in the last scene (in response to the mutual freak out with Yamaguchi)! Lol. She’s prepared heading into the Seijoh match to take care of Karasuno AND the viewers. All our hearts are racing! Thanks, J&J!💜

okay, so i'm in the middle of the episode and i thought i'd clear this up. makki's name is hanamaki, as well as matsukawa. they're third years on aoba johsai, you've probably heard their names a lot by now. hanamaki is #3, with pink hair and matsukawa (usually called mattsun by oikawa) is #2, he has black hair and he has kind of a lazy look to him lmao. you should actually remember both of them for what's to come because they usually aren't noticed a lot, but they're very skilled when you pay attention. solid blocks and receives, as well as spikes. futakuchi is the second year date tech captain, he was in season 1 as well lmao he's snark and aone's friend. koganegawa is the first year setter for date tech and sakunami is their first year libero. moniwa is the black haired third year for date tech that's on the stands watching the game with the other date tech third years through the episode, they all played in the match against karasuno in s1.

bella

some of these characters are new and some aren't, for example the guys in the stand talking to Daichi and them are the 3rd years who retired from Date Tech before the spring tournament, which is why Date Tech has a new 1st year setter :) I'll never deter you from learning names though, you never know when you'll see characters again ~

it's time to really lock in
