ATTACK ON TITAN - WRAP-UP DISCUSSION/REACTION!! 🎉

It's a brilliant video essay

HORTENSIA

You should react to "This video will change the way you see Eren" by invaderzz on YouTube. It explains a lot about Eren's character and the story.

HORTENSIA

The episode armin (died) back in season 3 was the only episode armin did not narrate because of his absence

jermaine stoelers

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this but I just rewatched this video and the two songs by SiM actually has deeper meanings, the lyrics in the rumbling is sung in Erens POV and Under The Tree is Mikasa POV I also remembered a quote I saw somewhere about the show "The show is Mikasa's story seen through Eren's POV and narrated by Armin" which I never thought about before. Once again I know it's been a while since you guys finished the series but I still go back and rewatch certain episodes you posted because this journey with you two was just so great, thanks again

Brandon Return of Stankface

When is solo leveling episode 2 dropping for the $10 plebs?

Rawdota

and don't forget that each song in AOT the lyrics are related, it's not just spectacular music, it has lyrics! Sawano is a genius!!

Fram

Yea men the rumbling was Eren talking and under the tree was mikasa talking, I hope you noticed that

Hi guys love the content I've provided a link to an AOT edit video that I love. I've seen a few and this is my favorite. Would really enjoy seeing you guys reaction to it! It's titled I was born. https://youtu.be/6f8_7dPezwk?si=1lKlhSqcnzaxyRMe

!!!ENORMOUS MESSAGE WARNING!!! (sorry, not sorry) Just like Jordan said, it is way too subjective to convince you guys that someone else is a better character. Still, I would be happy to share my personal opinion about why Eren is my favorite character in AOT. At first glance, we see that Eren isn't the type to give up and accept a mediocre existence inside a cage. It is said in his scout training that he is not good at anything, but his will and dedication are stronger than most. This aspect of Eren's character has always fascinated me, and that feeling grew with each rewatch. In his fight scenes, where Eren had 0 strategy, he always managed to shock his opponent through sheer willpower and brute force. He usually never won with that approach, but that's the point. He tries no matter the odds or consequences. This resilience motivates me and makes me want to become someone who doesn't doubt themselves and tries even with 0 skill and talent. It's a reminder that even if I have nothing, nada, zero, the willpower remains, and that's enough to achieve so much. Because anyone can utilize willpower, there are no excuses for me anymore. These ideas get explored more and more deeply the further we progress through Erens character development. From seasons 1-3, Eren suffers so much with seemingly constant failure. Eren transforms, fights with the Scouts, loses, gets kidnapped, is rescued by the Scouts, transforms again… so on and so on. He cries, is hopeless, and loses loved ones, but even through these constant failures, he always stands up and fights back ruthlessly. Now, let's delve into Eren's profound life philosophy, which resonated deeply with me. Carla: "He's already special because he was born into this world." Eren: "I can do this! No… We can do this! Because we've been special since the day we were born! We're free!" Eren: "Because I was born into this world." I love this optimistic, non-nihilistic worldview AOT gives and the explanation of why we must fight. We must fight because since we were born, we deserve to experience the world to the fullest, and we deserve to fight for it. Deserving to fight for yourself is a birthright. For the most considerable portion of my life, even in my most hopeless moments, I always had one thing that kept me pushing and gave my life meaning if nothing else did. It was the fact that I have been "given" the opportunity to live (experience this existence). Taking in the world with our senses is what being alive means. Because without senses, we wouldn't know we were alive. The fact that I can do that... Experience everything this existence offers feels unbelievable. It's so freeing. This is why I understand and can sympathize with Eren's desire to go outside the walls and be free. Because he was born into this world, he deserves at least to be able to do what life offers. Why can't he go outside the walls and enjoy the freedom of exploring the world? Why are these "monsters" restricting him and everyone in the walls from living out their lives to their full potential (being free)? Since I have been "given" this existence to take in, I would also be upset if the potential to do the most essential things (live without being wanted dead by the whole world in Aot's case) were taken away from me. After the Scouts broke the metaphorical wall chaining them, another one of those walls was still restricting Eren's freedom: that wall being the rest of humanity. The constant struggle of knowing that the people who want your nation gone are just ordinary humans who have a good reason to fear and hate you. Eldians are monstrous Titans who have a history of terrorizing the world. That's what the world sees. And Eren has 7 years left after seeing the sea and learning the truth to bring forth any change. He knows the Rumbling would remove all people who hate Paradise Eldians, but they are still people… This part and all the scenes showing Eren's guilt about the genocide he will commit, plus the scenes of him actually doing it, is the most heartbreaking thing in this show. It pulled so profoundly on my heartstrings that I will never forget. Also, seeing someone's psyche in an extreme situation like this is interesting. Eren… A super empathetic person chooses his goals of freedom and saving the people he cares about over his own humanity. He would never have been able to live with himself and would take the guilt of genocide to the grave. In real life, people who accidentally drive someone over already can't live with themselves, and it destroys their lives. Imagine Eren's position… But he has the willpower, accepts the sacrifice, and follows through with it… It is one of the craziest, most heart-wrenching things I have ever seen. I have never seen an idea like this explored, and even though it is horrifying, I want to see Eren pay the price of freedom. A life filled with misery where even if freedom is attained, one will never be able to enjoy it. Now, yes, Eren died, so it didn't show that journey till the end, but just seeing him go down this path was fascinating in a horrific way. This might not be the most accepted, but I authentically agree with Eren's choice of saving oneself and what's dear to one over being an altruist. I would never have the mental strength to commit to something like this, but I can relate to the idea. I have always been a selfish person and would undoubtedly choose to stay alive and live with what is important to me (loved ones, a free life) rather than letting innocents live. If I had two buttons in front of me… and I had to choose between losing my life, but a billion people don't die, or keeping my life, but a billion people do die… I would press the second button. In my opinion, I don't think Eren/Paradise's reason for genocide is wrong. The genocide itself is horrible but this show gave a justifiable reason to WHY. I understand and can get behind self-defense. This world is live or die anyways. Sadly choosing to stay alive came at a great cost. But horrific bloodshed aside… Eren is an interestingly built character, both at the core and in how the show shows him. This show managed to make Eren sometimes act like a side character, with many others being the main focus (e.g., Armin, Erwin, Reiner, Levi) while still staying in the spotlight at the end of the day. What I mean is that Eren often felt like a victim controlled by the plot. For example, before season 4, Grisha seems to be the biggest reason why Eren is the way he is. Grisha gave Eren his Titan and gave Eren his biggest goal (to take back Wall Maria and get to the basement). Grisha also traumatized Eren by killing the royal family, thus pushing Eren's character development. But it turns out Grisha was being controlled by Eren instead, who was the actual mastermind. That scene re-contextualizes so many moments where Eren didn't act like the main character (driven by other characters/the plot, being kidnapped and needing saving…) and makes him more of a main character than we thought. It's crazy how a character's impact on the story can be heightened with just ONE SCENE, and it changes our entire perspective on many characters and the story itself. Also, simply think about how well foreshadowed his character was. The first scene of the Colossal looking over the wall parallels the Rumbling arriving at the Marley shore. Eren ambiguous words of killing every single last one of them is another. "Every single last one of them" Why not just say Titans? Hmmmm, I wonder what he is referring to🤡? So much more of his subtle character development goodness can be analyzed for days, but let's finally conclude!   So… Why is Eren the best character of AOT? Him being ingeniously and uniquely written, how masterfully foreshadowed Eren's character development is, the uniquely horrifying psyche of Eren doing the Rumbling, his life philosophy about the gift of being born, his unyielding nature to being caged in, the difficult choice the world put him in and so much more. His story is a massive tragedy with constant suffering, but through all that, his will to stand, fight, and move forward remained. Moving forward to the point that he controlled many characters and indirectly himself from the future, moving forward to the point that he is the reason why the Attack Titan's trait is to fight for freedom. The long but rich character development is littered with betrayals, world-changing realizations, and the first-hand experience of the cruel yet beautiful world. I could relate and understand Eren, was captivated by him, and was given something I hadn't seen in any other character before. Most importantly, though, Eren and this story taught me so much; the themes, philosophies, and messages improved my life in many ways! No matter which character you love most, always remember this one thing... The Attack Titan continues to advance despite the odds, and I hope you, too, will advance into a fulfilling and free future. Why should you fight for that, you might ask? Because we were born into this world… and since that day, we all have been special.

BarnaBash

Hey J&J, you guys should definitely watch more Voiceactors. It's always so impressive to me how much devotion and passion they show in every scene, that we, the audience can build real connections with the Characters. Because he is your favorite, I will link you two super short Videos of Armins Voiceactor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmarEG5_88Y & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnrZTcdEtIY). My all time favorite is Captain Levi and I found the badass freaking fight with Zeke (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuOz2n46SmE). I hope you enjoy and thank you for always touching my heart. Btw. unfortunately I can't participate on the Livestream because it would be Monday 3 AM in Europe

Ngl, that comment by Potatogirl in the end made me emotional. And I love that she chose Sasha for her handle 🥰 You guys have such a positive impact in people's lives. Thanks for being who you are ❤️🙌🏽✨

Elle Firespray

no you aren't. It is 87 regular episodes and 2 specials making a total of 89 episodes, but the specials are the length of 7 episodes so maybe that's what you were thinking? either way this is indeed the end and all of the episodes.

The Grissini project orchestra is amazing. Y’all should definitely check it out!

beacuse you lot choosed armin, i just had to tell u guys that armin is actually a persian name{iranian} meaning:It’s a name that parents may choose with the hope that their child will embody these characteristics and lead a life filled with courage and divine blessings. The name is deeply rooted in Persian culture and is often chosen to inspire strength and bravery in the child. which really matches with his attributes.

kasra

I loved the attack on titan suite too! I played the violin for 9 years and the strings are absolutely beautiful. Definitely made me miss playing!

Ashley Brown

You should definetely check out the Grissini Project Orchestra, it's really good. It was released after AoT ended,it's very hype aswell like project emu. Also, I mentioned it previously but I recommend also checking this out. It's pretty much a compilation of the last voice acting recordings of AoT's final episode, elite voice-acting & preparation. Ending the 10 Years Recording Attack on Titan Final - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxrTDrz21Jo

I'm not sure how much time will you have on the stream so I will mostly reccomend shorter videos to check out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvjhRLI8fWk - less than one minute. A short, fan animated video about Eren. It's really good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnFXN9kghNM - 1 minute long, a short parody of Yimir's situation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNBbbIqPaPk - this one is a bit longer but is has timestamps so you can choose what peaks your interest the most. On 10:40 minute it's explained what exactly the titan worm that Yimir encountered might be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qR8O2ygWTU - around 30 seconds. While watching the show at times it's hard to notice how beautiful the aot world is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW0yckFVefw - 14 minutes. "45 Secrets You Missed in Attack on Titan Season 4".

Thank you guys !!!

Also, I’m sure everyone is interested in how you rank your all time favorite shows now.

Hi! thank you for your interesting discussion again. :) Oh I wish I could stay for your live stream, but for the time difference, maybe it is hard for me to stick around...I don't know, but I'll try!! Arminnnnnn!!!! Yeahhhh!!!! My favorite is Armin, so I'm sooooo happy you feel the same. You won't know how much hate Armin has been through after the conclusion of the manga, thank you to Isayama and Mappa, they animated it so well that the audiences' misunderstanding got less then the manga conclusion.(In my opinion, us Armin fans could understand he meant he wanted to shoulder Eren's sins and share the guilt, but it looked like there were so much misunderstanding of him, he's words, so much people criticized him then. And so, I also had to go through so much of his hate comments, it made me so sad... That is why I'm so happy you gave him the respect he deserves. Thank you so much...!) I always get some goosebumps when I watch the episode "Midnight sun", when Eren was saying "Armin is the one to save the world!", Eren knew it all along even if he didn't see the future yet. About project Emu, the man playing the electone who is standing behind Sawano, is Kohta YAMAMOTO, the man who took over from Sawano and composed the music for the final season! Please give some credit to him as well :) The musical you're talking about, is the musical performed few years ago in Japan. Japan has a culture of making mangas and animes in play, and it is called 2.5 dimensions stage. Not all, but most of the cast is same from that act, so I'm wondering if they can play it in English or they have no intentions to do that from the beginning and just use Japanese. lol Here is the digest of the stage when they performed in Japan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DJTDJR4e1o BTW, they had live action movie loooong time ago, but that was a disaster, the old fans of AOT always say "Don't watch it no matter what!!!!" lol There is no Levi in this movie(instead, they have a character called Shikishima in Levi's position) and so on... They say it is completely another show, you can't say that is AOT. lol (One must not forget, all these changes were made with Isayama's will. The screenwriter didn't want to do this, but Isayama even went to his house and said "I want to see your version of AOT!", so the screenwriter(model of Ksaver!) unwillingly accepted the offer.)(the screenwriter is 町山智浩(Tomohiro MACHIYAMA)) Here is the Movie gallery if you're interest: https://eiga.com/movie/57328/gallery/ When the manga concluded, the editor of AOT was commenting about AOT in Hollywood, but we hear no news about it for few years now... So I'm not sure what is going on with that. The 3D fan video you showed, I just saw it few days ago and amazed of their work! It was awesome and highpted! But unfortunately, copyrights in Japan is a bit strict, so I couldn't share it to the Japanese fandom, because they used the original voice of Zeke from the anime. But it was amazing to watch, it is so sad they couldn't continue it... I don't know, but this might be my last comment here, so I want to thank you again!! Thank you sooooo much for the wonderful time you gave! Have a great time, and take care ;)

hiro ame

Just finished watching the entire video after I fell asleep half way last night XD Thank you so much guys I absolutely loved rewatching AOT with you both 🩷 looking forward to new anime reactions and the live stream. Also thats amazing AOT merch you got 👀 maybe you both will cosplay as Eren and Zeke?

its_aliza

not I hate it too its a disaster..

its_aliza

There is an actual Attack on Titan live action movie but I suggest to stay away from it. It’s a little underwhelming and different.

Aya

Right here 48:41 when you mentioned an AOT live action, I suddenly remembered that a live action does exist, The Titans in the live action looked so goofy imo and it kinda peeved me that armin didn't have blond hair and blue eyes. Personally I didn't like it. Others may feel differently but for me 10/10 would NOT recommend.

Shivo

Thank you guys for a wonderful reaction. The first video of the soundtrack was mind blowing. So absolutely beautiful. I have a strong love for orchestras and bands because I was in band for 6 years. I played the flute and fell off for a longgg time because I didn’t like the new band at my new school when we moved back in middle school. They weren’t the nicest people. But now I’ve been reteaching myself the flute and I am MOST DEFINITELY learning at least one song from the soundtrack to play. It’s a MUST. That was so mesmerizing. The way they took us on a journey that really matched the emotions of the show was genius. Goes to show how powerful music is. Xieboli is AMAZING. That short was epic! The dedication to spend 1.5 years.!! I hope they go a long way in film making. They’re extremely talented. Anyway, I love AOT so much. I’m tryna get like Jared lol, bouta stock up on AOT merch and probably go into a hyper fixation of making AOT art. I’m working on painting the characters on a tote bag rn! Can’t wait for the live stream and what will be discussed. Now onto what y’all said at the end. SOMEBODY MADE THEIR OWN OMD GEAR?!?! That’s insane!!!!🔥

Kia

If you could watch this video. Another reactor, Joey Nato made this music video/song in tribute to AoT. Hope you like it! https://youtu.be/shWNx98OMTQ?si=JZSvSSbxHxtIf96G

Skellyp

If I may humble suggest one video to check out, it'd be the Grissini orchestra version of Vogel Im Kafig (bird in a cage). This song is one of the main themes of Attack on Titan, it's played throughout the series, but I mainly remember it for being played in the Karla getting eaten scene, and Reiner and Bertholdt's betrayal. This rendition is beautiful, sung in the original German, just like most songs in Attack on Titan. Enjoy 🥰 (there's a 20 minute video of the whole thing, but this one is a video of just that one song) https://youtu.be/i9SwzEhfBLc?si=DbKv2IGYVbcSTJtZ

Elle Firespray

The music in that fan short was by Rok Nordin and his music is fantastic. I've collected all of the t shirts from his mad series

Lauren Crawford

I hate that we won't see these characters anymore lol

Brandon the Snacksassin

Under the Tree gets me in my feels every time I hear it.

Lauren Crawford

I'm glad they got to both this videos I sent them links for these two songs too, I hope they watched the link I sent by an artist I like who made an original eren song, even if they don't watch on video or the live stream I hope they watch it on their own, it's just a good song and great video

Brandon the Snacksassin

Looking forward to JJK replacing DK guys, it's an anime I definitely wanted to start but have been procrastinating for some reason, I've heard people say they love it others say it's overrated, I'll judge for myself along with you guys as first time watchers but from stuff I've seen on YouTube with the action fight scenes looked so sick, the black air force energy and jump game is wild in JJK, almost every clip I've seen someone is getting jumped lmao animation looked great though, 99% sure MAPPA animates JJK too

Brandon the Snacksassin

The rumbling is widely viewed as a song sang from Eren's pov, Under the Tree is said to be Mikasa's answer. Thank you for this discussion, thank you for AOT, thank you for all you guys do for us patrons.

Lauren Crawford

Watching you guys' aot reactions has been a pleasure! I'm quite certain the more you rewatch the show the more you'll end up loving it! Also an FYI, SiMs aot songs are from 2 perspectives. "The Rumbling" is from Eren's pov while "Under The Tree" is from Mikasa's pov. If you truly dissect the lyrics you'll be like "damn" lol ALSO y'all NEED to check out the 1st ending song from S1 and the last ending song from S4P2 with lyrics. Once again, the 1st is from Mikasa's pov and the last is from Eren's pov. On another note, I saw that y'all will be reacting to JJK next! I can't wait to watch y'all witness the peak that is Jujutsu Kaisen 🔥

Val

Thank you for you reactions! 🙏☺️ It was the best rewatch experience. I'm looking forward to the next ones

Kenken

Another interesting video about the scale of Rumbling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9wttRG0zaY

CrimsonRaven

Thank you for watching AOT together!

Revy Xua

Yes you're right guys.. Jean, Connie, Gabi and every eldian who you saw as titans in the end turned back into humans once Eren and the founder powers/titan curse was gone. After Eren's death, the scene in which Secretary Muller is pointing guns at the eldians asking them to prove if their ability to become titans is over for good or not, Armin comes and tells him that if the eldians could still turn into titans they wouldn't be standing helpless against your guns and instead would have fought back

its_aliza

I'm going to type as I listen so it's kind of in order lol. The music in this show, and music in general, I look at as it's own character. The lyrics in these songs actually spoil parts of the story if you listen/read them, it's done so well and the music for parts like Reiner and Bertoldt revealing themselves holds such a different weight after you learn about their story leading up to that point. My favorite character in the shownis Reiner, Mikasa and Armin, I can't choose who I like more. Armin taking responsibility is amazing, he understands not only did he teach Eren about the outside world (and in the beginning his whole character almost represented the outside world in a way) but he took responsibility for helping Eren start the rumbling. Without them jailbreaking and helping Eren in those final moments, the rumbling might not have happened.... And here's a link of the Epica vs Attack on Titan cover if you want to check it out. https://youtu.be/bX3dwi_yuSA?si=n0zEdj1WYfkR2M3_

Tom Bombadil

I think someone has mentioned that already but you have to react to every opening and ending with lyrics The foreshadowing is just crazy

Samir Bairamov

Eren does love his mother a lot and I mean a LOT! But in order to save the entire island he had to let Bertholdt live on that day.. (imagine dina being the colossal XD) Also yes Future Eren knew exactly that if younger Eren doesn't see someone as precious as his own mom getting devoured in front of him, he would never have enough hatred and fire in his heart to end the titans curse from the world Not only this but in order to keep the peace between Paradis Island the remainder of the world, Armin needed to live. You can see in the ending credits that an old man is the final person who visits both Eren and Mikasa's graves.. I don't know if its confirmed or not but that old man is said to be Armin. He was the last of the trio to die just like he always ended up last when the trio raced towards the tree.. and we also see that as long as Armin was alive, Paradis and the world lived peacefully together.. but after his death many years later we see Paradis is at war once again and ultimately gets destroyed.. THAT tree is the only thing to survive

its_aliza

Eren's objective (at least one of them) was to kill every titan in the world, even tho Ymir landed him her power, she remained the ultimate powerful being who decides whether Eren can do one thing or another, he is not of Royal blood so Ymir is not subjugated to him. This is why a deal between Ymir and Eren was important, Ymir would put an end to the titan curse if she witnessed Mikasa's ultimate sacrifice... to get there Eren did the rumbling. Mikasa killed Eren so his part of the deal was complete, Ymir then eliminated the titan curse once for all... No one can transform into dumb titans anymore, the powers of the 9 are gone, and every dumb titan including Conny's mom turned back to human.

Randy Flash

I highly recommend watching this https://youtu.be/WPl10ZrhCtk?si=hKcY4I5_W2WX8GaO and i loved this wrap up discussion and Gabi, Jean, Conny all lived long lives after they turned back into humans, thanks for the amazing experience rewatching this with the two you and everyone!!

Anna

The power of titans no longer existed after mikasa killed eren, there's actually 2 subtle details that confirm this also, first we get a quick scene of the worm dead (almost like a bug that was stepped on ironically) and after the people changed back to humans and the scouts all remember having conversations with eren, conny mentions that eren told him (I'm paraphrasing) his mom in ragako village would be saved and human again

Brandon the Snacksassin

All the characters that turned back into humans were because of mikasa’s choice, ymir finally saw someone making the right decision even though mikasa was unconditionally in love with eren (just like she was with king fritz) which set her free and broke the curse, she stopped creating titans in the paths and the power disappeared from the earth, hope this helps and sorry if there’s any typo (english it’s not my mother language) had a great time watching your reactions guys <3
