In this specific world of AOT, it's completely understandable that Eren did what he did. He was forced into a position to choose between his friends/family vs the world that had long oppressed him and his people. But at the end of the day, indiscriminate genocide of people, with no regards to innocence, is wrong, and is a big indicator of an uncivilized society. In an uncivilized society, there is no right or wrong, but a civilized society can easily tell what actions are right or wrong. Ethically, what Eren did was extremely wrong, but whether or not his actions are wrong will differ based on the opinions of the people. At the end of the day, killing indiscriminately is wrong, so the decision by Armin and Mikasa and the rest of the crew to stop him isn't wrong, because they were preventing indiscriminate killing.

Not sure if you’ve seen “Storieswithstyle” AoT reactions, but he’s a German physicist who is brilliant at analysing the show and brings up Germany’s history and personal stories he’s been told by older generations. He goes into a lot of the psychology behind it, and advocates that AoT should be taught in schools, which I 100% agree with.

i feel like as a society today, EVERYONE needs to watch AOT. sins and hatreds of the past should not be forgotten BUT like maggath says 'its wrong to make you bare the sins of the past due to your race'.. as the new generation, we should learn from it and make a better place. be more kind and considerate, help thy neighbors. not bring back the cruelty that once was that none of us was there for.

Also guys, Samuel is the recruit Sasha saved in the episode the Bertoldt broke the wall the 2nd time. Remember Sasha ran down the wall and hooked him in the leg to save him from falling. Now in Season 4 Connie has to kill the friend Sasha saved.... 😭

Do you just pay attention to s2 ep4 for the reveal 1, then just pay attention to s2 ep5 at the end for the badass ending, then the obvious reveal 2 in s2 ep6? What gets me in this episode is the flashback to Bertholt saying someone has to stain their hands with blood. back then we had no idea why Reiner, Bertholt and Annie were doing what they were doing Isayama put us and our characters into their shoes Connie now has become what he hates the most, the Traitor

We have another full-circle moment in this episode. Compre Connie's betrayal to Annie, Reiner & Bert's betrayal; we were on the side of the Eldians and considered Annie, Reiner & Bert our enemies because their motives & actions seemed so ridiculously unjustifiable and morally wrong, so we faithfully believed they were fully in the wrong. In reality, we were looking at 5% of what was going on and were missing 95% of the story. But in this episode, we're more inclined to be on the side of the traitors even though their actions threaten the island's survival. We've seen the story from their POV for the past 4 seasons that characters like Samuel and Daz don't know of (They've only seen the 5%) but the audience has seen the bigger picture (The missing 95%) so we believe we're in the right. But in the current situation, the actions of our characters directly resemble Reiner & Bert's betrayal in Season 2: They have betrayed their friends and are threatening Eldia's survival (The same principles we were supporting in Season 2) so why are we even on their side this time? Is it the emotional attachment from the past 4 seasons, or do we truly believe they are in the right? Are you willing to sacrifice your people to protect the world, or are you willing to sacrifice the world to protect your people? It's an impossible question to answer morally and ethically. This show has been a battle of conflicting morals and beliefs from the beginning and there is no right or wrong answer. AoT fans tend to be very split on whether or not they support the rumbling or not, and I think that's alright. Just like the world of AoT, everyone has different opinions and believes that their opinions more right than others. But if AoT has taught us anything, it's that the issue isn't having those conflicting opinions, it's about how we come together and resolve the conflict that arises from those differing opinions, which they are unfortunately unable to do in the show.

I forgot to add this, I'm sure someone had cleared it by now, but just for incase. When Armin said to Magath "I won't stand by with clean hands", He meant, he will fight beside the others who are trying to stop Eren, instead of just watching like Reiner and Magath suggested.(So the 104th from Paradies don't have to become "traitors" to the Paradies Eldians) (Magath was saying "please look away from the foolish doing" he was referring it to slaughtering the Jaegerists at the port.)

First time watcher here. Man it’s so painful seeing them have to kill their friends. “I thought you were our friends.” “You are our friends” That dialogue exchange hurt me. I hate that they have to kill their friends. From Daz and Samuel being saved by their fellow cadets in season 1 to dying at their comrades’ hands now is heartbreaking. When Samuel (or was it Daz?) said he didn’t know what he’d have done if they were traitors, it just brought me right back to when we learned about R&B being titans and the characters feeling the betrayal. And while we’ve learned of their motives and missions now, and have gained more understanding, it still hurt then. Now to know that to their friends, Connie, Armin and the whole gang are the ‘traitors’. They (Daz and Samuel) once again feel a sense of betrayal. And I think in that scene at the end, you can feel that. The sadness from both parties. It’s not easy but it’s the reality, and I hate that for all of them. But yes, Connie has stepped up. He and Armin have been going through it and he’s reallyy come in clutch with a lot that’s been going on.

the ashy bones that Jean referred to were actually about Marco. If you recall, in season 1, before Jean decided to join the survey corps, he held burnt bones from when they were burning the bodies from the attack on Trost. Jean gave up his life with the MPs bc he didn't want Marco's death to be in vain. He thought the same now, as he sacrificed an easy and safe life to save the world.

You mustn't forget that Samuel is the guy Sasha saved in 1x4.(falling off the wall) Which means, Connie had to kill the guy who "his other half" saved. When I started to read the manga in the magazine, it was this episode. (Until then, I was reading the comic books.) I remember I thought, how painful that would be for Armin to be shot in the face, and yet he calmed himself to not transform. I really apricate you two said he is the strongest. I think his wish for the future was the strongest. Also getting shot in the face made Armin can't talk. They took away his biggest weapon first, so it sadly turned out this way. If he could talk at that moment, he could of talked them out of it and maybe there weren't need to be killed. So sad. So sad.

When Annie says, "unlike us, you guys probably wouldn't have destroyed the wall that day." She's saying that because the scouts are trying to solve the flying boat issue without killing any yaegerist. Reiner then has a flash back to when Eren said that they're the same and so he asked himself "is that what he meant?" Remember, Annie and Bertolt wanted to end the mission and go back home but Reiner forced them to continue the mission. In Liberio, Eren moved on his own and forced the scouts to join him in the attack. They're the "same" in that they both pushed forward and forced their comrades to be accomplices in the process

No matter how many times I've gone through this scene, it always gets under my skin the picture of "betrayal" it relates to when Reiner, Annie, and Bertholdt had to kill off Marco

I think you guys are misunderstanding the whole "Armin transform!" thing when it comes to the colossal titan. His transformation is like setting off a nuke and the scouts NEED the flying boat in order to stop Eren, let alone the fact that Conny is right there next to him. Armin transforming would kill everyone on the dock.

That flashback to Bertholdt makes this scene so powerful.. because back in season 2 when the scouts were all standing on Reiner's titan trying to free Eren from them.. Connie said the same thing that he thought Reiner and Bert were their comrades and someday they would drink and eat meat together 😭💔 Bertholdt really did considered them as friends but he had no other choice but to fight with them to death and now Connie was in the same position as him

What's incredible is that we have seen Daz and Samuel in past episodes in Season 1. They're from the same Cadet Corps as Coonie and Armin. Daz was the guy whom Historia and Ymir saved from freezing on that snowy mountain, and Samuel is the one Sasha saved from falling from the wall when the Colossal Titan appeared the second time, by shooting the omni gear through his leg. The fact they brought them back for this to happen is absolutely heartbreaking. Samuel hesitated to shoot Connie, but didn’t hesitate with Armin because he knew he could regenerate. It’s unfortunate that in stopping Eren, they are considered traitors to their old comrades. Connie and Armin are sort of in the same shoes as Reiner and Berthold to them now. That’s why Armin is looking so shocked/defeated because he sees that to their friends, they're now the traitors.

This ending is spine chilling and I was the same as you guys my first time watching So this episode had a full circle moment, if you remember in season 1 episode 4 or 5 , the second time the colossal appears to attack the walls after our characters become cadets, Samuel was the cadet that fell off the wall and was saved by sasha when she shot her odm cable through his leg. Here we have conny, who sasha considered her twin and he considered sasha his twin, is the one that kills Samuel. Just thought I'd point that out, not really a huge part of the plot but still a cool detail Another great reaction, I'm excited and sad we are at the end but I'm glad I shared this journey with you guys and everyone else on your patreon, my online family.

Eren saying "im the same as you" speaking to Reiner, Eren is basically saying that if he was in Reiner's position, he would have destroyed the walls too unlike most people who probably wouldn't have carried out the mission or seen it through.

It’s crazy how Armin was shot in the mouth because his character is know for his persuasion (his ultimate weapon) which left Connie to do the talking. Maybe the interaction would have gone down differently if Armin was able to get those two to see reason but leaves me to believe that Isayama INTENTIONALLY set it up to happen that way so Connie could become the one thing he despised, a traitor. Just amazing story telling and little details!!
