AOT 4x25 Reaction!! *ALL PATRONS*

Maybe that, but one thing it definitely was was paying homage to Sasha :D

I mean there are some things that are as close to an objective truth as possible, and choosing to not believe those things makes you wilfully ignorant - aka stupid. Like mathematics and established laws of physics. Also there are some opinions that don’t deserve respect. Personally, if someone is unable to explain/justify why they think something, then it’s not even THEIR opinion. It’s just something they’ve either been told or heard and now state like it’s fact. Seeking understanding is different to merely “respecting” someone’s opinion without question. All opinions should be questioned, and potentially criticised. Bad ideas (those that cannot be reasonably justified or those without evidence) should be called out. People should be made to question their own beliefs, to argue against their own inherent biases and keep refining and updating them until they reach a point where they can’t think of or find argument against them.

Reiner just thinks he deserves it. Plus he’s more than used to being beat up - remember Annie kicking the shit out of him when they were kids?

Hippopi

Yeah, like that one back in S1 about YEAST. 😆

Every time I watch this episode I was always confused at the camera directing, but I just found out why it was edited the way that it was and it's genius. Even you guys said you noticed that the tone and vibe was different. The many focused shots and jump cuts to the forest environment in this episode was more important than I thought because what the group is experiencing is directly related to what Mr. Braus always said about the forest. We are seeing the group argue amongst each other and continue the cycle of hate because they literally and figuratively haven't escaped the forest yet. But by the end, we see some semblance of putting aside differences/regret as Magath empathizes with Gabi and Jean apologizing to her as they leave the forest. This is also supported by how you guys noticed that the kids are more adults than the adults themselves, contrasted by how Mr. Braus said that it was up to the adults to keep the kids out of the forest. I can't help but think the info card about Hange's stew having a generous amount of potatoes was another clue to help us catch onto this.

Whew, finally caught up, and just in time to join you guys for the final few episodes! I'm glad I'm here, it'll make watching the finale that much more fun. This is such a great episode. It's relatively low action, but the tension around the fireplace grips you the entire time as the characters, and we the audience, reflect on everything it took to get us here, and all the blood on everybody's hands. Reiner so matter-of-factly recounting how Marco died is chilling. He doesn't let Annie take any of the blame for it, and he goes through every detail, like it's been replaying in his mind since the moment it happened. Great to see the Scouts all together again, camping in the woods like old times. Side note, I love the fake out death we got with Levi. Of course we were all skeptical, cause ain't no way in hell that Captain Levi Ackerman, Certified Badass, was going to be taken out by a random explosion and die offscreen. But it really feels like they have to keep finding reasons to take Levi out of the fight, with him hurting his leg in Season 1 and now taking a Thunder Spear to the face, because they know that otherwise he'd absolutely BODY any foe they faced.

Do the reaction of all the intros and outros with subtitles, that’d be interesting

Hari98

At the beginning of the episode he is no one's father. It is Jean's dream, he says that no one will bother him, that he will be calm with his wife and children (the woman who appears there is Mikasa) we already know that Jean has been in love with her since he saw her. It's just a dream, (or isn't it? and is it a future?) then they show him in the present, covering his ears with his eyes closed, dreaming. Jean, for me, is one of the best characters in terms of personal growth. I love your reactions!! keep in that way

Fram

I love my boy Jean. He's my second favourite character after Hange. I love seeing his growth and character development from season 1, and that Marco ("those ashy bones") is still so very fresh in his mind. The memory of his friend Marco is what inspires and enables Jean to keep pushing forward. A couple of episodes back, we could see him leading the scouts to take out all the pure titans (their comrades) and he did it with such respect and leadership. I also love that we get a glimpse of his undying love for Mikasa, whom he has loved ever since seeing her for the first time in Season 1 ("You have really beautiful black hair"🥰) and throughout the seasons, we can always see him caring for her and her well-being, despite him knowing of her feelings for Eren.

Honestly one of my favorite episodes, no fighting. No action. Don’t get me wrong. I live for AOT fight scenes. But I love how Isayama doesn’t depend on action scenes to make a series good. I feel like it’s very common for many anime’s to have unnecessary fight scenes because the writers don’t know how to make it good without the action. Isayama can write several episodes without any fighting whatsoever. Just simple talking and communication like this one. And it turns out to be an amazing episode

Gatha Naranath

RIGHT! I’d love that ☺️

Shelly

Remember when the ”Information available for public disclosure” used to be like useful back when we didn’t know anything about AOT😭now we got Hange’s stew bro

Gatha Naranath

I'm leaving this 1-minute short AoT film to react in the end. A fantastic work really. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjahiPD445k

Guys do watch the outro for S4 Pt2 and please please do it with subtitles on.. the lyrics are beautiful ❤️

its_aliza

Before you guys proceed to the last 2 episodes of the show(the 1h30 long specials) I invite you to watch these in honor of the incredible voice-acting of this show. (season 3 part 1; Eren, Erwin & Levi VAs) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9CrFkCt0nM (season 3 part 1, Levi VA) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97rz8KrEbjY (season 3 part 2, episode 17, Levi VA) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuOz2n46SmE (season 4 part 1, episode 14; Eren, Mikasa & Armin VAs) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl-aWmaRtUA

Manuel

Same reason why Jean is one of my top most favourite characters. He is just so well-written and honestly he has inspired me a lot irl. Us viewers can relate a lot with characters like Jean, Sasha, and Connie

its_aliza

our guys missed Jean's daydream about him having a family with Mikasa XD Dude is still crushing over her after years I'm interested to know your opinion about Jean as a character now keeping in mind what he was like back in Season 1.. Marco is very special to Jean and without him Jean wouldn't have been a part of the Survey corps. I love that this episode and the previous one focused on the side characters who don't have any type of special powers and their journey upto this point.

its_aliza

Sane! I love his character development so much in this show

We will need all the reactions with the little sister, just saying

Elle Firespray

The Floch fact is insane. I never knew that

Jay

I love this episode. Very Jean-heavy, and we needed that to remind us just how far he’s come. This one cemented him as one of my top 3.

Kel

For Reiner, not to protect himself when being beaten by Jean really emphazises how his emotional state is broken. To let someone hit you without even trying to somehow reduce incoming damage and fully take it, it means that he is either done with living and has no wish to continue or that he accepts it as a punishment. Still, if it was taken as a punishment, I believe one's would have small body reflexes, some small moves that your body can't help but express. Here, it seems to me that Reiner has no will. The only thing that keeps him being around is having the kids (as he said in episode 3 of this season) and now you could add stoping Eren. And Magath showing sadness and compassion for Gabi always got me. He acts like a man of steel but he is more than that. Tense episode like many, but this one was needed so they can move forward...

Franck Seng

I love how in the end the group was able to physically and metaphorically “leave the forest”. Fun fact: Floch’s last name is Forster which means “occupational and topographic name for someone who lived or worked in a forest”. He and people who think and act like him will always remain in the forest.

Rae

I think they’ll still be done before the end of June, Bianca!

Hi! Thank you as always! I haven't really looked into the subtitles for this episode till now, but today I realized that there was a big change in the subtitles from the Japanese original lines. That part is: When Annie is asking the Paradies 104th, "can you kill Eren?", she says "Can't answer 'cuz you can't think of him as an enemy?" in the subtitles. But actually in the original, she is saying "You can't tell because you suddenly become an idiot when it's gets to Eren?". I liked this line of hers here in Japanese, so I just wanted to say this. I think Annie knew, that Armin and Mikasa is intentionally avoiding themselves from thinking about the "last resort". Oh and I had to inform you about "Hange's stew"! lol Unfortunately, they aren't constant product inspired by Hange's stew, but we have collaboration cafes and restaurants time to time in Japan, and they provide the stew named "Hange's stew".(Also like "Sasha's potato", "Sasha's meat plate" and so on...)(It is so fun just looking at the menu itself) That's all for today! I don't want this journey to be finished, but I also so much looking forward to hear your conclusion about this story. Take care and have fun!

Next 2 episodes are some of my favorite. Lesgooo

I don't think you're being pessimistic It's seems you're being realistic. And on the stubborn adults 😆. You said that adults doesn't change their minds. They do. But it has to make sense. Adults believe out of experience and not just by what's being told. These adults were once childrens who also had an open mind: children who had listen to the opinions of an adult and spoke by what was being taught. As they got older they come to realize that what they'd been taught was not always true. As psychology mentioned "we're just domesticated to follow society standards." We get rewarded and a threat by following the rules. And we get a beaten and talk down on if we don't listen or follow them. Labels like "dumb" and "stupid" was created as a manipulative tool to change the opinions of others by insulting their intelligence. Nobody wants to be called dumb. So by calling someone dumb one's hoping that they think to themselves "I don't want to be dumb" and then change their opinions. But adults see through these mind games. A child can easily be tricked and manipulated because they want nothing more to fit in and be accepted. The things children are being taught they'd use it and what they will use they will gain life experience from, an experience that will someday form their own opinions into adulthood. You can't change experience. Only explain them. So if an adult is stuck in his ways it's because of his life experience. He isn't wrong to be stubborn unless his stubborness cause harm to others. Adults usually doesn't listen to children because they don't speak with experience they speak what they've been told. "Come back when you're older and have more life experience, then I might listen " is what an adult would say to a child. We are in an age where it's a battle of the minds. Adults knows this. So many opinions. Most adults with opinions fight for children's attention because they are easily manipulated. Change the children mindset You change the future. This is the tactic Eren dad use on his children. "Opinions is Like an @$$, 🕳️ everyone got one." I don't see someone's opinion as wrong But if it doesn't aline with my life style or if it doesn't add value or I gain nothing from believing it, then I won't see it as wrong, just wrong for me. We just need to respect other people's opinions and not try and change the opinions of others, but seek understanding and respect. Even if it goes against what we believe. That just my opinion.

Itachi Uchiha (Ericken)

Such a great quote. It hit harder in the current climate, honestly.

Romba_7

I agree. He's one of my favourite characters. He's extremely well written and interesting.

Romba_7

I don't know if you didn't realize it or didn't recognize it, but in Jean's “dream” he has a child with Mikasa. You can see the cut under her right eye from Eren's attack from the first season

Maka

This episode just summarizes why Jean is my favorite character. He is constantly given opportunities to live a comfortable, easy life. Yet he turns down every opportunity , and instead pursues the harder, morally correct path. He could have joined the Military Police but he chose the Survey Corps. He could have accepted Floch’s offer to live an easy life in the interior as long he sides with the Jaegerists, but he chose to team up with his former enemies to stop the Rumbling. Mad respect to Jean. Like he said, he’ll always be a Scout.

Sidarth

07:52 "Genocide is wrong. I'll be damned if we justify it somehow." This quote from Hange is one of my favorites. It's so powerful and I feel a strong surge of emotion every time I hear it. The conviction with which the VA Romi Park delivered that line makes a much needed impact.

silly goose

no pleaseeeeee keep the same schedule, i was going to cancel once aot was done because i don’t have the money for another month. & thank goodness yall would’ve finished just before the next bill so please I BEG. KEEP THE SAME SCHEDULE 😓

Bianca 🎀

Jean is easily one of the best written characters ever in this show. love how effectively he analyzes people and circumstances, and I think it's amazing how he went from being a self-centered driven person to being more martial and mature. He held in a lot of composure with magath there lol (i would've beaten him up)

bort

Jared & Jordan - at the end of the series, will you each tell us who your favorite 3 characters were in order, please? Really curious, cuz I know you guys relate to a lot of them. Maybe some honorable mentions if you can't leave some out lol There's so many good ones, even the minor characters.

Big T

Don’t forget that there is an after credits scene in 4x27! Also, unless I missed it I don’t think you guys have reacted to the S4P2 ending credits yet, I’d love to see that.

Kevin

Dialogue heavy episode. The thing they got out of this, is definitely one thing. And it’s closure.

MangoJuice

Agreed

Shelly

Yes!!!! I'm sure you'll enjoy the finale a lot more if you rest a bit more between episodes <3

Costosou

You should do Project Emu AOT music suite right after you watch 4x28. Before the specials. It's the original OST creator. 20 minutes long and mashed up the OSTs from seasons 1-3
