I was off for a while and am still going through the reactions
(for some reason, my interest in reactions always [this was like the second or third time] stalls a little around Episode 19 [Matsuda])
but I just found a link and absolutely LOVED what they said and wanted to share it with you, maybe you already saw it
(like I said, still going through 😅) but if not, I'd love for you to read and discuss it in front of a camera, because I would love your takes on this:
https://death-note.livejournal.com/1482192.html
Racing through these reactions now before the month is over, since money has become a bit tight and I'll have to stay away from Patreon for a while... 😓😅
But will probably come back if you ever start Dr. Stone, because I have a LOT to say about that and never get bored of it xD
(Hopefully, curse my ADHD 😅🤣🤣)

What a show! I am glad to see everything come to its own circle. I am soooo happy that Light's demise finally came!!! I was so excited and happy! It has to be this way and Ryuk is just a great showing that at the end of day he is who he is and sticks to his duties. 💜 I am so glad you guys enjoyed it as I did as well. Let's enjoy the anime journey!

Hey guys. Sorry I missed the last few episodes. Just caught up on them now. I'm glad you enjoyed the series. I'd watched anime my whole life, but it wasn't until watching Death Note in highschool that I transitioned into a proper anime fan, viewing it as more than just the cartoons I watched as a kid. There's something about the Death Note that makes people want to try it at least once XD
I look forward to seeing more of your reactions. I came here for nostalgia, but I'll end up staying for the positive energy. Peace.

Originally, I thought I had successfully left a comment, but it seems I failed, making it impossible for me to ask you questions during the final episode, which makes me very sad.
This truly has been an astonishing journey. Allow me to once again express my admiration for your captivating reactions and discussions about the plot.
Regarding Near's smile when he first took off his mask in the warehouse, it was because he saw Ryuk among Light’s group, confirming that he had obtained the real Death Note.
I have two questions, and I hope they haven't been asked already since I haven't had much time to pay attention to other people's questions.
First, this might be a somewhat clumsy question, but I still want to ask it: Who do you think is the smartest among Light, L, Mello, and Near?
After you answer, I think I should also provide some of my own thoughts:
I believe L’s intelligence is the most commendable. From the viewers' perspective, we can see that he fought against two Kiras (Light and Misa), two Death Notes, and two Shinigami (Ryuk, who wrote fake rules, and Rem, who protected Misa). L often had the upper hand in his encounters with Light. If it weren't for the Shinigami falling in love with Misa and the supernatural powers that rendered the FBI useless, L would likely have won.
The second question is based on my understanding that many viewers stopped watching the series after episode 25, when L dies, because they felt the subsequent content was going downhill, and some even thought it was unnecessary to continue. I personally hold the opposite view; I believe the later episodes enriched and completed the story. What are your thoughts on this? Did your thoughts change from L’s death to the end in episode 37?
I have very conflicted feelings about this series. I yearn for someone like Light to punish criminals, yet I also hope for someone like L to stop him. Perhaps it is as Light said in the series: the one who wins in the end is justice.
Finally, I am delighted you enjoyed watching the complete series for the first time. I can’t wait for the next anime series and more anime movie reactions!

If you liked death note you should really watch classroom of the elite. The main character is like Light and L

Hmm your reply has made me see Light in a new light (XD) once more.. I'm kind of conflicted about his character.. maybe he does need to have a positive purpose in life and working with L was perfect for him.. but he should also be able to control himself even if he has all the power in his hands.. We also have Minoru's example how he used the death note..

I'd say it more depends on his age and his need for a purpose. He was stifled, beyond bored and without a purpose. His life was empty and meaningless to him, just going through the motions doing whatever was expected of him. It was completely a mask. We see what good Light can do when he's motivated and has a sense of purpose - someone who encourages everyone to work together, tries to cheer others up, is highly motivated and dedicated to solving a case. Someone with an equal who can keep up with him and give as good as he gets. I think Light needs L in order for him to have an ongoing sense of purpose, and that there is always someone to challenge him. Hell, we even saw Kira lose his sense of purpose and grow bored without L.

About that..I believe we all loved the innocent detective Light because he had a clear purpose of assisting L in his mission to take down Kira as soon as he lost his memories.. which kept him interested and busy. We have to remember that the Light who got his hands on the death note in the beginning was pretty bored in life and was just living it. Even the innocent Light admitted how scarily similar Kira is to him. I think it depends on the amount of power Light is given..

I disagree with him always becoming evil - we saw how Light was without his memories, and he was a genuinely earnest teenager. I think if he ended up being a detective, he'd eventually get noticed by L due to his talents and they'd probably work together. I think his youth and the influence of the death note is what pushed him over the edge - as long as he didn't end up developing a god complex, he'd be ok.

The guy in last video was a Kira supporter and was probably pissed over Light's loss XD I mean he considered L's death episode to be the perfect ending and that says everything

Thank you for reading my comment. Although I do feel bad for Light in the end because just as Jordan says.. he is a human being too, I also agree that Light would have become evil in any situation he was presented with power of any form. Its Light's true nature.. and whenever I see him I remember the wise words from AOT "there is a devil inside all of us"
Light let his devil take full control over him

The Death Note in modern times is a real story in the mangas! I read it a while back, I think it was a short story published in 2019. Essentially it follows the aftermath of Kira, in modern day Japan around 2017-2019 I believe. Ryuk is bored once again and wants another Kira to keep him entertained so he finds the top scorer in Japan and gives him the notebook. The kid, Minoru, tells Ryuk that they learn about Kira in school in ethics and history classes. After seeing the notebook hes very impressed with Kira's enginuity for using the rules of the notebook to get away with his crimes, but ultimately is not interested in the notebook because commiting crimes in this day and age is almost impossible due to modern technology. Instead he relinquished the notebook and asks Ryuk to return in 2 years. Once Minoru is in high school, Ryuk comes back with the Death Note and asks Minoru what he would like to do with it. He tells Ryuk to go on Sakura TV Station and hold up a sign stating that the Death Note will be sold to the highest bidder on Twitter under #POWEROFKIRA. It's so insane and at one point Donald Trump is bidding for it so the U.S could have the upper hand in wars and stuff it's so ridiculous yet so on brand for Death Note. Near is on the case to figure out who is selling the Death Note but ultimately gives up because Minoru tells the POTUS to transfer the money equally to all bank accounts in all of Japan to cover his tracks. I won't spoil the ending but it was just as intriguing and thought provoking as the original manga albeit a little on the nose and silly.

Awesome discussions! Really enjoyed the length of this one. I was sad that Deathnote episodes had ended, but this video really put a cap on everything and made this reaction series feel done and complete.
Also think you guys handled the last linked video well. I also had similar thoughts as y’all. The YouTuber almost felt like he wanted to dislike the ending, then worked to find pieces of evidence to support his opinion and acted like everyone should listen to him. Loved that you guys recognized that critiques are valid, but pushed back and defended the show. I think it’s a perfect way to finish off your last Deathnote video, as it demonstrates your growth into having your own thoughts and opinions about anime. One of the best parts about anime is being able to find the shows you love and your own reasons to share and defend them. Cheers J&J, appreciate y’all!

Oh deathnote 2024 would need to have a death iPad or a death tablet, you think a high school kid in 2024 would look twice at a notebook? Unless the shinigami upgrade to electronic death notes nobody would give a crap about a notebook lmao
On a serious note, I agree 100% with jared on his opinion that light and kira are 1 in the same, I think light would of become a slave to any power obtained in his life. He was already arrogant and toeing the line of feeling like he's better than everyone else before finding the death note so it may jusg have taken longer for him to obtain over a longer period of time but from what the story told us we know he wanted to be in the police, and I believe he wouldn't be happy unless he became top dog in the ranks which then could open doors to politics giving him the taste of power and eventually corrupting him. In the real world today there's people living and within history who have had the "power of the deathnote", maybe not a literal notebook but people who can point to any person they want and "delete". Just pick a name of any dictator in human history. Light is Kira and Kira is Light
