🙏 Please read this 🙏
First forgive my weak language I’m Arabian fan🫡
I want to light you for different fascinating things.
1- In the season one the walls represented the pace from the outside but in the end we know it is representing threat for the outside 🥶
2-In the season three when Erwin faced Zech he said “this battle will determine who will live (the human or the titans) and unfortunately he was in the titans side without his knowledge🥶+ and he said earlier “save Eren he is the one whose the future of the human 💔”.
3-In season one last episode when Eren sat on Annie’s titan he said “I will destroy the entire world “🥶
4- In season one Erwin asked Eren “who’s the enemy?”🥶
If you read this I’ll give you more and more of foreshadowing. I’m an AOT researcher 👨🏻💼 I can write books out of this masterpiece.
But I have to take more English lessons before that😂
Thank you for your amazing reactions 🙏

The brief scene when Armin says "If he is just crushing the global alliance, whats the point?!" of some farmer with a horse just watching this extreme event hits so hard to me. Imagine being that guy, going about your day somewhere far away from Shingansina inside the walls then that just happens out of nowhere.

First time watcher.
This episode is just simply amazing and done so well.
Learning the truth about Ymir and how she became the first Titan was so sad but very insightful. I feel like she and Eren are similar in their thoughts about freedom. She set the pig free. I feel like that was to show us that she valued freedom as well and wanted to be free herself. But she never was and had to be a slave not just up until her death but even after. That’s heartbreaking. I love that Eren told she has a choose and doesn’t have to continue being a slave. He saved her. She’s been waiting 200,000 years for someone to come truly free her. Thinking about the fact that she really had to craft all those titans. Working endlessly, still a slave even in the ‘afterlife’. I feel for her.
That last scene was INSANE. He’s really talking to all Subjects of Ymir at the same time. A loud speaker for just them. That’s crazy. One of the coldest scenes I’ve seen 🔥

I wish we could discuss Eren’s character more candidly, but atp, my input would be spoiler-y. I will say Eren has a response to his enslavement that adds richness to his character. There is nothing more frustrating to me than his characterization reduced to “villain.”

The thing about Ymir being a slave, but being potrayed a "ladylike", and Frieda teaching Historia about how she should become someone who always thinks about others and is loved by everyone is one of my favorite parts of this episode, because it just the ugly truth of our world and how it views women. You always should put others before yourself, you should help everyone, you should be kind, you should care about others and think about it as of being "a lady", when in reality you are just a slave.
And OMG!! Eren being a Mastermind, who is behind everything that is happening today. This is one of the biggest Plot Twists that I've ever seen in a show. My heart aches for that poor boy, whose fate was determined since the beginning and he had no other choice than accept it and act according to what he saw.
Great reaction as always, much respect to you, J&J!! IM THRILLED TO SEE YOUT REACTION TO THE LAST 2 EPISODES.

24:15 that comment about Grisha only being able to see Eren/Zeke "through Eren's eyes" is just not true. I hate how people adopted that theory, because the anime literally does nothing to support that idea. It actually gives evidence AGAINST IT. When Eren grabs Grisha's shoulder, there is sound of impact and Grisha MOVES, also Grisha hugging Zeke, sound of impact and Zeke moves from Grisha's weight. When Eren is behind Grisha while he was talking to Frieda and Eren was getting overcome with rage, Grisha looks BEHIND him to where Eren is standing. Literally every time he sees them he is looking in their direction. When he saw Zeke, he didn't see him until he looked UP from the ground and directly at Zeke. This "streamer Eren" idea is nonsense and I don't know why people imagined it, nothing supports it.

Episode 1 Title: To you, 2000 years from now
Episode 80 Title: From you, 2000 years ago
“To you” = Ymir sending a message
“From you” = Eren receiving her message
The Attack Titan or “Shingeki No Kyojin” translates to “a giant who moves forward” which represents the themes of Eren Yeager. The Attack Titan is a part of Ymir who desperately wants freedom from her slave mindset in devotion of King Fritz. Ever wonder why Ymir listened to Zeke who is royal blood instead of Eren? Also ever wondered why she continued to make titans in the Paths? King Fritz died, she could’ve stopped anytime. But being a slave all her life, she eventually attained a mental illness.. still thinking of being a slave.
This whole story is based on Ymir waiting for 2000 years for someone to give her a choice.. to free her from this mindset. And that was Eren Yeager.
“It is you who led me all the way here. You’ve been waiting all this time, since 2000 years ago for someone” - Eren to Ymir

This episode is a perfect example why I love AOT and it's writing, I could write an essay about this. The episode title "From You, 2000 Years Ago" is a direct connection to the very first episode, titled "To You, 2000 Years In The Future" Ymir has waited so long for someone, and Eren understood that. Also, like you guys mentioned, there are quite a few scenes that you can draw many symbolic parallels from. Ymir falling and looking at the flower as she thought she is about to die, is reminiscent of Mikasa briefly giving up on her life and looking at the pomegranate in season one (I also like to believe there's another connection, in season one, when Eren transformed to save Mikasa and Armin from the cannon, Armin noticed that flowers stayed alive inside Eren's titan form) Another very strong parallel is Ymir taking refuge inside the large tree, which connects back to the titan from Ilse's Notebook, who placed Ilse's body within the tree for safekeeping. In the very first episode, Mikasa came up to Eren while he slept under a tree, and if you remember, he woke up crying after seeing a flash of images. It's almost as if he could sense the future, or Ymir was letting him know whats to come (hence the title, "To You, 2000 Years In The Future". These specific details are what make Attack On Titan so enjoyable, and I can rewatch it over and over due to these connections, everything has a purpose, even Eren sleeping under a tree.

jay already beat me to explaining the pointing finger and flower symbolism, but to add onto what he said:
the creature that attached itself to ymir in the tree, attached to her spinal cord, hence why the "titan serum" is always taken from the spine
also i remember being very confused my first watch, as to how a single spear could kill ymir even though she was a titan, and then i remembered (i believe) reiner saying that when a titan shifter is critically wounded, they usually can regenerate, ONLY IF they have the will to do so (paraphrasing).
ymir essentially allowed that spear she took for king fritz to be the end of her life, because our girl was TIRED.

i just find the way the founding titan was found to be so damn fascinating. mainly because it was in such a random spot yet hidden. not too far from earths surface though. it makes you think that stuff like that could really be found in the real world in deep undiscovered waters. think of what could lie deep in the ocean. creatures that you cant even imagine exist actually exist down there. this includes space too. so many unrevealed things lie in space, different worlds. the whole universe is just a mystery. a power like the founding titan could very damn well may be real somewhere in our world for all we know. i just love thinking of stuff like this. the undiscovered could be unimaginable.

Ymir's past is incredibly tragic when you realise that every single time a person has ever transformed into a titan (not just pure titans) in the past 2000 years (not just what we see on screen), the titan's body was created by Ymir in the paths. And given transformations happen almost instantaneously, we can safely assume Ymir has been trapped in the paths for millions, if not billions of years working as a slave to the power of the titans.
We also learnt during Ymir's backstory:
- 13 fingers pointing at her = 13 year lifespan of titan shifters
- 9 petals on the flower = the 9 titans
- Every time a person was passed down Ymir's blood, the "tree" in the path grew another branch (When Ymir's 3 daughters ate her, we see 3 branches appear)
- Neither version of the history taught about the past by Marley or by Eldia was the truth - it was a mix of both
Jay
2024-06-06 23:46:10 +0000 UTC
Ymir’s story seen here is the true story. She built many things but also killed many people.
The stories told by Marley and Eldia are both true, just told from different perspectives. That perspective determines whether she is a god or devil.
This is the main theme of AOT and it is important to consider in our world as well.

As a fan of dark fiction of all kinds, that very last scene where it cuts to Eren's monstrous soul as he declares the world beyond Paradis is not just his enemy but his prey, i get full body chills every single time. The disturbing but amazing visual paired with the immaculate voice acting of Yuki Kaji never gets old. This is the exact moment Eren Jaeger cemented his place as my absolute favorite character on the show.

the founder ymir did indeed build many things like eldian restorationists claimed but she did also destroy many people for the king like marley claimed. so there was truth in both narratives. all good lies are mixed with truth just like pyxis said.

This is one of my favorite episodes. We finally got an answer to the origin of titans, which was from a biological parasitic creature, but also wields metaphysical and god-like properties. A nice blend of realism and fiction.
I really appreciated Ymir's backstory in becoming the first titan. Right before she fell down the tree, she tripped by a flower with 9 petals with one petal being stained with blood. This symbolizes/foreshadows the 9 titans and Eren. Without getting too deep, this same flower was shown a couple times in the past whenever Ymir was mentioned (including the Ilse OVA as well).
A girl falling from a tree into a body of water is actually a very common folktale/mythology to describe human/life origins, especially in native American culture. There are many different versions of the story, but the girl is then saved by a creature (commonly a turtle) to begin a cycle of life. In the case of AOT, the creature was a titan manifesting parasite. Isayama borrows this story to explain titan origins. I saw that you guys were saying that this display of the past may not be true, but it was definitely the intention that this was the actual history. It was not being retold from anyone in the present, and the coloring/filter shows that this is a primary source and account of the past.
This was a very important episode and I can't wait for your future reactions where you can draw even more themes that stem from Ymir's story!

This episode ends with a twisted shot of the attack titans/Eren's face, but if you recall back in episode 6 at the start of the episode, we see a similar picture before Eren attacks the crowd, where the attack Titans demonic face is covered in blood with that evil expression.
In this episode's shot, the attack titans face has more human than titan resemblance, whereas in episode 6 is clearly identifiable as THE attack titan.
I interpreted this as Eren basically being consumed by the ideology of the attack titan to the point where they've become the same thing. And with that, his identity and personality have devolved into that of a true devil.
They show this exact point in the 2nd ending sequence of AoT (the one with the acorn rolling) where in a few frames, we see how Eren is literally the Attack titan's puppet - strings are coming from the attack titan and are attached to the boy (who I'm assuming is Eren) who is positioned as if he's being crucified. Ironically, Eren is a slave to the Attack titan despite claiming he is truly free; it seems he was never free to begin with.

There seems to be a tiny oversight that you guys didn't catch. Yes, the attack titan can see the memories of future inheritors, but it also includes themselves. Eren can see his OWN future too! That was part of the big reveal of the Attack Titan's special ability.
More technically, he is seeing his own future by seeing his father's memories of seeing Eren's future memories but that explanation is a bit much.

5 things I find interesting in this episode:
1- Frieda talks about lady Ymir (named Christa in their history books) and she refers to her as a role model, someone who cares for others, the example to follow if you want to be "ladylike"... but Ymir was really a poor girl, she was a slave pretty much her whole life... so history books always portray their heroes as flawless individuals even when they are not.
2-Eren Kruger tried to talk briefly about Ymir's origin back then, and he said: "For Marley she made a pact with the devil, for Eldia she was a gift of God, and others say she was touched by something at some point" (I am paraphrasing here) but we did not pay too much attention to that 3rd possibility, it turned out to be the truth.
3-Ymir did build the Eldian empire using her titan powers. She built roads, bridges etc, but she also destroyed nations and civilisations, and Marley in particular, so each side was right, they were just telling their sides of the story.
4-That Marleyan soldier who attempted to kill the 1st King is arguably the inspiration for Helos, the fake hero created by Karl Fritz (the 145th king, and creator/ruler of the walls)
5-Ymir is still a slave even after death, and she is the one making all those titans pretty much by hands, so we pretty much get the answer for one of our 1st questions ever lol... why do the titans look like that? so ugly with weird forms and sizes? Well a kid is making them by hands lol

You cannot imagine how great Isayama is from a Japanese, living in Japan.
In Japan, we have a heavy problem about "male chauvinism" or "male chauvinist" whatever you want to call it, deep down in people's minds, even this present day too.
There are so many women suffering still with this problem, and lots of people are still fighting for their own rights.
And here, Isayama phrases "ladylike" and "slavery" as a same thing in this episode.
He straight up sent a message to who doesn't see the real picture here.
(And I'm only talking about Japan, because I lack of knowledge about other countries.)
I know J&J are new to the anime world, but for whom watched so many animes you'll know, so much of these animes has girls with big boobs and big buts, wide open sexy clothing... These were all used to sale the series, the publishers thought they won't be able to sell them if they don't have those elements to attract the readers. Even they knew, we women hated those elements.(I mean, these elements literally give young boys the wrong idea about women and they grow up with that. And that is one of the reason, there are still male chauvinist problem now in present.)
But here, Isayama proved that series can be sold, even if there weren't any of those elements. What you truly need to sell them is to just write interesting story.
From the beginning, instead of drawing Mikasa as a big boobs and big buts sexy character, Isayama kept on drawing strong and independent girl(sometimes love comes too much though lol), living with her own strength.
And that goes to not only Mikasa, but Annie, Historia, Ymir... so the list goes on.
He wasn't afraid to paint those stories about not only heterosexuals, but also about those who were called the "minorities" in these series too.(When he started drawing AOT, Japan itself was not ready for any of these.)
This is also another thing that is great about Isayama.
But these might be things I think it's great about Isayama, because I am a Japanese woman living in Japan.
I hope some of you can understand what I'm trying to say.
I am so glad and thankful to god giving Isayama these gifts to write stories with his own sense.
Or maybe... Isayama is actually the...?
Thank you for reading my comments who did.
Have fun and take care :)
===additional comment from here
Thank you for your replies and understanding T_T
There are so much more I want to add it to this topic, but just one for now.
You mustn't forget, there were so much writers that tried to create their stories with their wonderful sense and moral, but most of the time, the publishers were the ones opposing this.
They ordered to a lot of creators to add "those elements" or they will not publish any of their stories(because they thought it wouldn't sell much).
This is a famous (fun) story, Isayama took his first idea of AOT to the most famous publisher in Japan, but the editor there send him away "this is no good".
So Isayama went to another publisher, and the new recruit editor(his name is Kawakubo) saw his idea of AOT and thought "This is the man who will create a legend", and from that day, the editor worked so hard with Isayama so he could write the story of his own sense and moral.
And now, thanks to Isayama(and Kawakubo), lots of the creators are freed from those publishers orders to add "those elements" and the stories without those are surely increasing every day!
Sorry the topic went away a little from AOT, but if anyone is interested. :)

Eren Kruger tells Grisha back in season 3, "The Attack Titan has always sought out freedom". Seeing as viewers how passionate Eren was about freedom as a young child (before he even had the attack titan), it makes you think that maybe the attack titan is not obsessed with freedom by default, maybe it is simply Eren passing his obsession with freedom down to all of the past attack titans.
By this point we know future Eren has already affected the past attack titans in some way. It seems odd that the way the attack titan was described is exactly how Eren acts, as he always says things about hating people being similar to cattle. The weird obsession with freedom that the attack titan supposedly has, may just be Erens weird obsession. Would love to hear other people's thoughts on this!

Once again you guys don't disappoint, you were pretty spot on with the information in this episode in terms of understanding it.
Now, I apologize if I'm repeating anything in the comments before me but here's some info from Yelena StankFace lol
Yes, Ymirs 3 daughters are where the walls got their names. Another interesting fact is the reason pure titans eat humans for what seems like sport or out of boredom (instead of nutrition) is because king fritz basically turned his bloodline into incestuous cannibals, eating relatives with titan abilities in order to pass down the power. The way I took this was because pure titans are not intelligent, have this need now imprinted in their DNA from 2000 years of committing the act, see all humans as carriers of titan powers and want it for themselves.
The curse of ymir (titan shifters only having 13 years to live) is because when ymir jumps in front of the spear meant for the king, it was 13 years after she gained her power and it was passed down (I'm probably leaving out details but that's the bare bones of the curse)
The parasite that gave ymir her power is actually inspired and based off a real world primordial worm in the genus Hallucigenia that existed about 500 million years before humans existed. They were only 1-5cm long according to fossils but that's the inspiration of the worm in AoT.
Finally, the reason Armin was shocked when he saw eren had brought down all the walls was because he believed eren only wanted to show the capability of the rumble to halt any immediate threat to the island (armin mentions few episodes back how it would keep paradise island safe for 50 years) that could be accomplished simply using the titans within the walls of Shiginshima which still puts the amount of titans he eren would've used in tens of thousands. When armin looks back and sees all the walls are down and eren is marching millions of titans armin knew or started realizing eren had different plans.
P.s. AoT true villain is that pig, it caused all of this 🤣
You have an Army, yeah We got a Jinx(Brandon)

2 - The names of yimir’s 3 children are the same names given to the 3 walls of paradise
3 - Also, Things from this episode were foreshadowed in the ending credits of season 2. The 3rd ending of the show (season 2 ending) shows the 3 children eating what look like body parts on a table and you see the rumbling happening in that ending as well.
You guys must have a crazy schedule to be able to upload a video every day. Especially reading comments as often as you have. My hat off to you!

Lol S1E25 Eren is fighting Annie and says: "I will destroy the entire world"
Us then: "Annie really made him mad, I understand him tho"
Eren now: "I will destroy the entire world"
The audience: "ow!!😐😐😐😐😐"

That Ymir flashback is 100% real. No need to wonder if it's true or not. If you look at how the Eldia Restorationists and Marleyans described Ymir, they were both somewhat correct. Ymir did help cultivate the lands and build an empire but she was also used to terrorize Marley and the world for almost 2000 years.

Nile Dawk in S1E14 courtroom scene: “Eren is a crazy murder-child who slaughtered 3 grown men at the age of 9 with no remorse. Maybe we shouldn’t let him have godlike power and entrust all of humanity to him.”
100% of the AoT audience: “Who’s this idiot?! Nile is so corrupt and dumb! I hope he rots in hell!”
Eren in S4 on the Eldian Intercomm: “Yo, so I’m gonna do a mass genocide, just wanted to let y’all know.”
Nile Dawk: 😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑

Would you kill everyone in the world to protect your family? Would you want a family member to kill everyone in the world to save you?
Was the world right to try and exterminate a race of people that could destroy the world? Would that race have launched this apocalyptic event had they not been targeted for extermination?
Who is actually in the right here if anyone?

What you are experiencing in this episode is the "Tragedy of Ymir". Her obedience to the king because of twisted manipulated love because she believe it is what is the best thing to have in her life.
Lots of emotional, physical, and emotional trauma in one episode. Ymir was enslaved by this "king", and even after sentencing her to "death" by being hunted, then acquiring an ability to transform into a titan. she still accepted his "seed" because she believed it was "love" no matter how twisted everything just transpired was. She just wanted to feel "special".
She endured the king's wishes in conquering the world "using" her abilities to transform into a titan. She was "used" repeatedly...by the king. Manipulation after manipulation. All because she wanted to feel "loved" even though it wasn't a true "love".
When that soldier threw the spear at the king and Ymir defended the king, she did it out of obedience to the king, but...when he asked her to get back up, with her healing abilities, she could have recovered, but she CHOSE not to, even though she believe herself a slave for many years. Because of this disobedience, the king forced his daughters to eat pieces of Ymir in order to carry on the titan abilities...
Such tragedy...for Ymir to endure so much. She disobeyed one time and her children had to suffer the command of the king for all time. The royal bloodline...had to obey... for all time. Now, 2,000 years later, In the paths, when Eren is talking to Ymir to her ear, compelling her to listen to him, this is the second act of disobedience to the king.

I want to say one thing, this is not defending Eren's actions in any way, but when he said he wants to wipe out every inch of the world aside from Paradis Island including Eldians on Marley.. From his pov, why should he protect those Eldians when they are the same people that turned into titans to break his ho;e and kill his people (which are those on Paradis that he grew up with), and even if we say once there's no Marley the Eldians there won't attack anymore but how can you even distinguish them in the midst of all the chaos and destruction that the rumbling brings. Plus they had it instilled in their core that the Eldians on paradis are the devils that has to be perished, I wouldn't be surprised if even after leaving them unscathed they would still want to get rid of the Eldians on Paradis.

its so ironic that the series starts on the premise of the world outside the walls being almost destroyed by the Titans, which turned out to be a lie, only for Eren turning it back into the truth.

The very first episode of AOT is titled "To you, 2000 years from now" and after this the very first scene we see is young Eren sleeping under a tree.. he receives future memories of horrifying events (including a titan eating his mom) and then wakes up crying
