Haven’t finished the video, but I just got too excited at the intro 😅 It’s literally been my wake up alarm/timer alarm for years. I’ve had to switch phones 3 times and it follows me everywhere lol
I forgot this is where we first meet Kyotani, he’s my second fav Seijoh boy besides Iawizumi.

Oh man!! This is my favourite intro of Haikyuu! And fun fact - during the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics they would play this song and other Haikyuu intros during the volleyball matches. They're that iconic for volleyball in Japan! Every time I would hear one of them played on TV during the games, I would get extra hyped for the matches.
As always, great reaction!

I think the title is a reference to earlier when Tsukki told Bokuto “I’m still a growing boy” after Bokuto criticised his weak blocks. At the time it was quite funny, but when you pair it with other things Tsukki has said such as “I can’t beat ushiwaka” and thinking Hinata is better than him, it kind of comes off like an excuse. I think what his brother was referring to was this. He seems to never think he can actually win, because somehow he’s less “naturally gifted” than other players. As we see this episode though, he really is growing in terms of his skills and willingness to improve, and like Ukai tells him blocking is not just about physical giftedness but skill and timing

About Kageyama talking about Oikawa...setter is really crucial for team. I learned it from Haikyuu. Before that, when I watched volleyball I didn't understand why some strong team felt like not giving their best sometimes, but it's mostly because the setter changed. In high school level, or even in professional level where most of setters are experienced and incredible, but a slight change could change the entire game.

I could be wrong about this but regarding tsukki’s brothers comment about “you only think it’s obvious when you lose, huh?” … to me I interpreted this way: tsukki’s default assumption seems to be that the team will lose and any time they win, it comes as a surprise. Rather than being like “of course we won”, tsukki would be more likely to say “of course we would lose”. But I think we are seeing his mindset really turn around as he is beginning to build confidence in himself and the team 🥰

Yuzuru is Kakugawa’s setter, so his fingers are his most important tool. As team captain (when only a second-year) and characterized as serious and a student of the game, it doesn’t surprise me he is diligent with the care of his body.
Athletes tape regularly for many reasons: strength, protection, injury prevention, to retain moisture and prevent skin cracking, etc.
Fingers are the most used and abused in VB. Fastidious finger-care and nail-care is essential.
Love love love Haikyu!! Thursdays. Thanks, J&J!
