Based on Eren's dialogue, he is not necessarily fighting for revenge at this point. There are many factors to consider but, according to his conversations with Zeke and Reiner in Marley, he is fighting for freedom and the idea that there may not be any other choice. However, we don't fully know what freedom means to Eren and everyone else. Even if we did know and had clear answers to the definition of freedom and how to achieve it, we don't know the actual intentions of every side, nor do we know what the sides are. As you guys saw in previous episodes and their conversations in jail, the scouts were confused about the intentions of Eren, Onyankopon, Zeke, Yelena, Jeargarists, and the rest of the volunteers. Everyone on all sides is struggling for what they believe is the best outcome and Eren seems to be at the center of it all. I think the show does a great job at portraying the irony that everyone is fighting for freedom, but do so because they don't have any other choice. There are better ways to explain this concept but it will be beautifully expanded upon on future episodes.

It's not entirely accurate to say that Eren's actions are solely driven by revenge. Based on what we have seen so far, a complex web of motivations is shown, with revenge being merely a minor component. Remember in episode 64, where Willy held his speech... When Eren and Reiner are talking, Reiner recalls a quote said by past Eren: "I'll make sure you guys suffer the worst death imaginable. That's a promise." and asks if that's Eren's reason for infiltrating (18:30-18:35, Ep 64). Eren responds but seems to barely even remember saying that and then says Reiner should forget it. Then Eren explained that since he had spent some time in Marely, he realized most people are the same on both sides. Eren also recognizes that Reiner had no choice since they were brainwashed into believing Eldia was hostile. Eren then says he and Reiner are the same and finishes with saying, "I will keep moving forward until I exterminate the enemy." (21:27, Ep 64). I think the similarity between Eren and Reiner is that both had/have no choice but to keep moving forward and fight the enemy due to their circumstances. For Reiner, it's brainwashing, and for Eren, it is the fact that he is cornered with Paradis being wanted dead by the entire world. Eren also seems to have let go of his revengeful past and seems understanding and even at peace. Just look at his smile (20:54, Ep 64)! That's not the look of a person fueled by revenge! He obviously harbors some revengeful thoughts, but his fighting for Eldia and his want for freedom (remember what Eren said at the sea, Ep 59) are way stronger reasons that drive him. This is just a reminder for you, J&J, as it is crucial to know Eren's motivations moving forward.

Commander Magath does care for the children. There are plenty of small hints throughout season 4 where he cares for their safety and is annoyed at how the other Marleyan soldiers speak about them. His conversation with Willy in the carriage shows that while he believes Eldians are devils he also acknowledges that he himself is also a devil

We have actually gotten hints several times in the show so far that Theo Magath care about the Warrior candidates, not just as weapons but as people. He might not love them but he does care for them. I find him much more likeable because ot that.

On the contrary, when Commander Magath grabbed Gabi and hugged her, he did actually show emotion in caring for her. If you remember Zeke's backstory when he was training to be a warrior, Magath was there all those years ago training kids to become warriors. There are some subtle moments when you focus on the screen back then where it seems he felt sorry for all these children being trained for war, but in the first episode of season 4 where we see Gabi, Falco, Colt, and the other kids on the battlefield with Magath, he actually listens to the kids. Gabi convinced Magath to let her go off on her own plan to destroy the tank, he listened to her judgment call on that. In the fight of Eren destroying Marley, Magath finds Gabi and Colt (when Falco was still missing) and wanted them to remain safe. In the aftermath, Magath only assumed that Paradis kidnapped Falco and Gabi, initially he didn't want to save them just because they were warrior candidates, but because he cared for them. Another warrior in the room made the point they were to be rescued just cause they were warriors. My perspective is that Magath is just sick and tired of training children for war, so it makes sense why he grabbed Gabi the way he did when he saw her. He didn't want to see another dead child made for war. Eldian or not, children are still children, and Magath saw that.

First watcher here. Mannnn this episode was so short to me. I needed more. At the beginning when Hange said “he’s dead”, I threw my phone across my bed lol and said “no.” Instant tears. Then you guys were like maybe she’s tryna make them believe he’s dead and I was like ok ok that makes sense. Hange swopped Levi up and got out of there. Levi is entirely too beat up to do anything. I wonder what his role is gonna be in all of this. Cuz I do feel like he’s going to be a help but how. He’s probably hanging onto life by a thread. Maybe he’ll be given spinal fluid and eat one of the intelligent titans. Idk. I don’t want him to be a titan. He’s probably the one character in this show, he and Hange actually, that I could never see being titans. Like they’re just too phenomenal as humans. I would hate them becoming titans. So I hope he just ends up living without any of that. He’s resilient. A fighter in every sense of the word. I hope he pulls through. And I agree Jared, something’s coming with Falco and I don’t think it’s gonna be in favor of Marley. I believe he’s gonna be a significant character in how this ends for Paradis. Zeke pleaseee get to Paradis fast and help your brother. Marley came swinging. The bloodshed in this episode was insane
