This is effed up" and then I spent ten years getting to know these characters and seeing their different perspectives and I just end up looking like Sandra bullock in birdbox, blind to redflags because these characters and this story has my whole heart

That's why Zeke called them "miscalculations" a few episodes ago, because he didn't account for them. It's hard to know what's planned or not during these stages, but we can get gather that those two were not part of it.

The previous eps were great, so the discussion really helps clear some doubts / solidify some details I have in my own notes as well. So thank you guys 🙏🏻 Armin said “Titan memories have been known to transfer by touch. I thought I might learn something important.” - makes me wonder what he has seen in Bertholdt’s memories. I recall he mentioned he did but ‘not helpful’ or something, when Eren asked him. Maybe thats one of the reasons why we see him speaking to Annie. From Pixis’ convo with Yelena, it was interesting seeing Yelena getting a little carried away when she spoke about meeting Eren, then a pause, exchange of looks, before they continued. Oh the subtleties. Pixis is an excellent profiler lol. Credit to Anka as well, who wordlessly sat down to take notes. I believe its likely that Yelena is executing a hidden plan of Zeke’s, but I wonder if theres any underlying motivation as well. When Hange mentioned towards the end about Yelena securing work for Marleyan prisoners in odd places, like restaurants, my mind immeditely went to the wine bottle Nicolo picked and passed to Greiz. The one they served the MPs some eps back. Very suspicious…and very smart..if that is what I think it is..woah.. Please tell me that chair was not the same chair Zachary used before, for torture. If it was, this man just died the way he probably dreamt of, as some form of public art or something.. Lastly, Floch with Eren 👀.. and now we see Pieck.. 👀 okayyy.. I’ll stop here for now lol 💜🙏🏻

Not gonna lie the Jeagerists name is hard. And Eren. This season 4 Eren is sickk. How he make putting on a jacket that badass. I’m actually kind of looking forward to see the interactions between the Jeager brother. ( I like that name as well). I wonder how those interactions will look like with their relation being public knowledge. Ofc Eren has found out before this back when he read his fathers books but we haven’t seen them interact since knowing that he knows. I also can’t wait to learn how and when Zeke began working with them.

2024-05-28 01:44:09 +0000 UTCFun fact: the military attempted a separation of powers with regard to guarding/protecting the 3 biggest nodes of power on Paradis - Eren, Zeke, and Historia. Only scouts know the location of Zeke, and it’s only Levi and Scouts guarding him. They had to ask Nile about Historia’s location because only the Military Police know that information. And lastly, we only see Garrison soldiers guarding Eren (though Hange was permitted to talk to him early on).

The Jaegerists are doing a coup and overthrowing the current government, similar to how Erwin organized a coup against the government back in season 3. In both cases, the reason for the coup was that the ruling government was too pacifist. The government in season 3 wanted the people on Paradis to live in fear of the Titans, even going so far as attempting to transfer the Founding Titan (Eren) back to someone of Royal blood (Historia) to prevent the Scout Regiment from exterminating the Titans. Now in season 4, the government does not want Paradis Island to attack other nations and instead favors a more diplomatic approach. Zachary even contemplated transferring the Founding Titan (Eren) to someone more trustworthy, notice the parallel? The differences between the two coups is that Erwin’s coup was bloodless whereas this coup clearly isn’t. Also, we the audience all sided with Erwin and the Scouts back in season 3, but now in season 4 do we the audience side with the Jaegerists? It’s a complicated decision! If Paradis Island goes on the offensive and attacks the rest of the world, it will surely invite retaliation and the cycle of violence will just continue. As we know, Marley is already planning an offensive on Paradis because of what happened in Liberio. But on the other hand, how can we be confident that diplomacy will work? Can you really reason with people who wish you all dead? As Kiyomi said in episode 10, the world wants Paradis Island to be the root of all evil because it brings the rest of the world together. And as Eren said in episode 9, “the rest of the world sees us as monsters who can turn into Titans. They aren’t wrong.” So in order to protect ourselves, we have to keep them (the rest of the world) at bay. Season 4 does a terrific job of illustrating the morally gray nature of people and of the world as a whole, and this coup is just another example of that.

2024-05-27 23:53:00 +0000 UTCYep, you're correct that was Pieck 🤘🏽 (Side note: I love the interactions between Hange and Onyankopon, sometimes I feel like he's the new Moblit 😊) In last episode, the warriors in Marley were discussing with Magath how they couldn't wait 6 months to attack Paradis again, they said they had no time to waste. So it makes sense that we see Pieck Finger as a spy, just like we saw Jean with a newspaper and a hat, spying in Marley in the first episodes of season 4, walking down the street.
