I'm so glad that you guys didn't immediately jump to hating Gabi for killing Sasha. I am sad that Shasha's gone because I always really liked her, but if you look at the situation objectively, Gabi's friends and comrades were killed by Sasha and the scouts. You can't expect a child who has been indoctrinated into believing that the Paradis Islanders were devils to have the maturity to not try and get revenge on the ones that killed her people.

Sasha's death hit me hard the first time. I loved her character. When I first saw it, I didn't like Gabi much. But, she's just a kid who's fully embraced what she was told growing up. I don't blame her, or feel any ill well. But, Sasha's death still kills me. *heart break emoji*

Gabi is literally eren from season 1, the parallels to the first attack on the walls in episode 1 to eren attacking Marley and putting gabi through the same trauma he went through is no coincidence. It's makes the viewer kind of a hypocrite since we hated reiner and bertoltz for what they did but clap for eren for doing the same to marley

From now on it will become more confusing, more gray, more complicated. Season 4 starts with a 4 year time jump which means, like you said, there's a lot that we've missed. I was just thinking about sasha and her death scene, the only good or bright side I see with it is I'm glad that she wasn't killed like so many before her in a brutal way, she wasn't crushed or eaten by a titan, I think of the first levi squad and how brutal for the viewer it was to see them go out like that, they had quicker deaths but man it was hard to watch and we as viewers weren't as close to them as we are to sasha at this point, which is why maybe isayama had sasha die almost quietly, as if she was at peace surrounded by the people she cared about, and honestly sasha is the type of character that if she had lived she'd probably forgive gabi in my opinion, I might not have but sasha would. In the end if sasha has to die I'm glad they did it the way it was done

*first time watcher* ‘No words need to be spoken’ between the trio, but their faces say otherwise. It wasnt a happy or a “Im glad you’re safe” kinda vibe I got, but more a “what have we done” or “did we have to do all this”.. in my opinion at least. Im trying to understand what Levi, Hange and Jean were saying to Eren. Its like they have come to a point where they cant trust Eren and his plans anymore, and have no choice but to retrieve him, knowing they will lose more and more of their own people and kill many others each time. Eren on the other hand, from the time he was at the sea shore, the memories he had, the pained look on his face throughout..from then, we dont know what happened in the past 3-4 years but it seems like theres a larger meaning or purpose to all this.. well for now, it looks like he has a passionate supporter/ follower.. Floch. And now, he alone wields 3 of the Titan powers- Attack, Founding and War Hammer. Hes too powerful to the point of scary. [For my note: Marley’s left with 3 now- Armored, Jaw and Cart. The other 3 in Paradis: Colossal, Beast and Female. Hmm.] Gabi seemed to have convinced herself at this point, that she needed to take revenge for those who died and the destruction of her hometown, even if it means sacrificing her own life. When Falco told her what he heard from Eren and Reiner’s convo, its like she chose not to believe since she didnt see what happened, with her own eyes. Falco just wants to protect Gabi, as what Reiner told him to do as well. But he may be starting to see both sides in a way. So Yelena and Onyankopon were part of the first scout fleet from Marley who were sent to Paradis 3 years ago. According to Pieck, Yelena is a devout follower of Zeke. And it seems Zeke has been involved in this plan with the scouts. Interesting. I want to see if they show how it happened.. Sasha. We had a lot of memories with her. Her love for meat, her humor, her friendship and her skills. RIP girl 😔. Definitely sad seeing Connie, Armin and Mikasa cry. Just after Connie said how special they are to him. Jean. His self-control and maturity. He could have ordered his team to push the kids off the airship, or ended them for killing Sasha. But he chose to remain level-headed despite it all, and bring them to Zeke. Honestly, like J&J, its easy to get the characters mixed up (if not for their voices). Except Levi. Especially during the battle scenes, it was dark, the scenes changed so quickly and they pretty much have similar features, except for the hair color or those with facial hair. I may have been able to distinguish them in the previous animation a little more clearly. But its all good, the overall is still great. Lastly, just looking at scenes from both sides of this battle.. just conflicting emotions. The moment I feel empathy for one side, Im pulled back to the other. And vice versa. Just some things I wanted to point out and that I find interesting : - Unlike Bertholdt's titan, Armin's Colossal Titan doesn't have ears so he doesn't have to hear the screams of his victims ; - When Sasha died, Conny only cried out of his left eye. He didn't have any tears in his right eye which shows that Sasha was his other side that he lost. Like he said, she was really special to him ; - Zeke said "Eren Jaeger... is not my enemy. Someone else comes first. Show yourself, Levi. You're running out of time." We then can see Levi with a pocket watch, indicating that Zeke was part of the plan all along, asking Levi to get him before they ran out of time, thus why he was taken down so fast and easily. Also, a cool foreshadowing that I find amazing : all 3 Jaeger titan forms have pointy ears (Grisha, Eren and Zeke), which indicates way before we knew it that Zeke is from the same family as Eren. This is the first time I post a comment on Patreon but I would love to write all the little foreshadowings and trivia that the series has when you guys will be finished with the show. There is a lot of them and this is only a few of them from the past three episodes. I love your reactions so this would be an absolute pleasure ! Some clarification for you guys, this has probably been said but Historia was not with the Scouts during this mission. There is actually 2 blondies within the airship, Armin and Yelena. Yelena is the one who wore a fake beard and trapped Porco and Pieck while Armin destroyed the port and Marley's naval forces. He then joined Hange and Onyankopon on the airship in the direction of Liberio to pick up the rest of the crew (Zeke and Yelena included) using the lights they placed. Pieck remembers seeing Yelena on the first fleet sent to Paradis after Reiner came back. The fleet actually never came back to Marley. She also mentions that Yelena is a devout follower of Zeke, so keep in mind these informations for the next episodes. The fact that we think Yelena is Armin at first was obviously made on purpose, Eren was in Marley so we were looking for more of the people we knew as infiltrators.

I've tried in multiple comments to advise/warn them to not take things characters say as truth (like the whole Annie Kenny deal) and that they should use the knowledge they have already as a basis for figuring out what is likely/unlikely (aka context clues) but I think they have the type of mindset where once they latch onto an idea, they end up trying to fit everything into that idea, instead of the other way around.

Brothers I think you should start questioning if things make logical sense first of all. I get that in AoT anything can happen, but this show builds and lays out clues that support evidence for the "twist". An example would be Zeke, him hiding that he is in fact Royal Blood to Marleyans, the way he was forcing Marley to return to Paradis, etc, these things contribute so when the reveal comes, it still kinda makes sense. Just like the R & B reveal or the basement reveal. A minor application of this is the assumption that Historia is with Hange, facial recognition aside, there is no way at this point they would bring a character with a Royal Blood with them, much less the Queen of Paradis to a mission. With this method you can rule out characters if you aren't sure who it is, if that makes sense. From now on AoT will shift into a new gear with uncertainty, deception and moral choices, so be ready!!

Exactly. Dude has SO MUCH untreated trauma along with the weight of the world within the walls on his shoulders, and keeps losing the people he loves. People that in his mind were his responsibility to protect. It's not laughing at the situation itself, it's him laughing at himself, for being unable to save people despite all the power he has.

Eren "laughing" at hearing Sasha's last words eerily reminds me of Erens laugh/cry after Hannes's death. I dont think Eren was laughing cuz it was humorous but instead because that's his way of coping when he faces something extremely traumatic that he felt he could have prevented. He sees the irony of each situation. With Hannes, he dies after Eren felt he was finally strong enough to fight the titans after gaining the power of the titans. And with Sasha, she wanted to take land back in order to raise more cattle, and then she dies on the land they discovered outside the walls. I dont think Eren has turned into some villain, but it can seem that way if we forget how he has been characterized throughout the show.

First time watchers. Man not Sasha. I knew she was bouta die from the thumbnail and password but reallyy!?? I’m thinking about when I started really liking her as a character. Then I realized I was attached to her when she nearly died in her village by that Titan and her dad ended up saving her. I was on the edge of my seat just hoping she’d survive that. Look how we’ve come with Sasha. I wasn’t ready for an OG to die. I’m conflicted on my feelings towards Gabi and Falco now. I don’t want the scouts to kill them because they’re just kids and they’ve been forced into this life by the Marlyians. Brainwashed. But man do I feel a little hatred towards Gabi rn. And I can’t even hate them for real because those kids have lived in Marley their whole lives, it’s their home. Imagine an attack on your home and watching the people you love be killed. It’s the same as what happened in Eren’s hometown. I feel like they can’t be faulted for how they react to something like that. The same way i feel Eren and the others could never be faulted for fighting back either. Man I actually can’t believe when we met Gabi, I said if she were to ever get with the scouts she and Sasha would either get along or hate each because they have the same energy. Only for Gabi to kill Sasha in the end. It’s nearing the end so this is only the beginning of the deaths I imagine. I’m not ready. Also Zeke was working with them!!???

This episode made a lot of people hate Gabi. Those people don't understand that if they were in Gabi's shoes that they most likely act/react the same way doing the same things. This show is great at showing how, in war, no one is innocent. "Our" guys (the scouts) aren't the "good guys" anymore, like Armin said in season 3 after they killed people for the first time.

man i miss sasha. it feels so unfair she went down like that. still, i can't help feel so badly for gabi in particular because on top of being brainwashed all her life, her very existence has been weaponized by marley. in that shot where she turns her head back and upside down to talk trash to jean had her looking so deranged it was freaky. and marley still has the audacity to treat eldians like second class citizens and label them all as devils while their own military continues to use the power of the titans to assert dominance over other nations. they've become what they hate and the cycle continues on strong.

You can look forward for what's to come for him XD Now I know this is some random information you don't really need, but I know this so I'm sharing this. haha. I do 3D modeling for fun and once I thought I want to model the guns their were using at this time. So I started researching the guns and got the conclusion this gun that the Marlyens ore using is modeled after a gun called Gew98. It was used in the WW1 in Germany, so we can assume the timeline Isayama was imaging. (Besides, there are documents in the AOT museum about Isayama's researches) That's all I wanted to comment. The reason why everyone is so mad at Eren right now is because he went into enemy territory without consulting his comrades first and they had to rescue him no matter the cost because he holds the founder titan. He's too important to lose. When Eren was having Falco send those letters and talking to him about going home, how long do you think Eren was behind enemy territory away from home since the events of the last season? I know yall are dealing with the loss of Sasha :( AND it will impact the story until the end, but don't overlook all the other small details that Isayama intentionally wrote in this episode. THIS is where (imho) the show truly begins to refine itself into the masterpiece we fans know it to be

Great reaction, as usual :) You will adjust to the different animation style, don't worry. It probably isn't helping with your 'facial blindness' haha! I loved your point about Gabi's attitude. I remember watching this episode when it first aired. It hit hard seeing this animated after being so sad reading it in the manga. I recall though, there was so much vitriol towards Gabi. I think it's more genius writing from Isayama. It's almost eerily reminiscent of what's going on in certain places in our world RIGHT NOW. The levels of hatred and dehumanisation. The propaganda fed to a young mind since birth. I love the way that you can see how Falco tried to deduce and work out if there are possible 'reasons' for the horrors occurring. Contrast that with Gabi's visceral, completely emotional (I'm not criticising or saying it's without reason) response...the way she qualifies it with her hatred and uses it to reinforce that hatred and spur on her actions. It makes me shiver a bit how powerful it is. Truly, one of the scariest things in the world to me is a young heart and mind consumed by hatred... Yet another example of stupendous writing.

To confirm the blondies right now, yes, Yelena had the fake beard and trapped the cart and jaw titan in the hole in episode 5. Historia was never on the ship, that was Armin you were seeing. If you ever need help telling the different between Yelena and Armin, Armin has more scraggly hair, Yelena has the ugly bowl cut. Hope this helps!

Fun Fact: Isayama intended to have Sasha die in Season 2 when she saved the little girl from a Titan in her hometown. Since Sasha’s death was timely adjusted to the end of the Marley Arc, let’s see how her death makes an impact to the rest of the story as well as the main cast of characters.

The Blondie with Hange was Armin. The tall Blondie that led and trapped the cart and jaw titan is Yelena. Yelena is a Marley soldier that went to Paradis Island as a scout after Reiner returned to Marley. As mentioned by Pieck, she is a devout follower of Zeke. She is the one who had the fake beard. +Edit- A good hint for distinguish who is who in this episode and future ones; don't forget that titan shifters get the lines on their face/under the eyes from the tissue connection that happens when transforming into a titan. Armin had those marks on his face, Yelena does not.

I feel like Sasha's death was a huge symbol of losing everything good and happy. When we watch the show there's not much to laugh at right? Aot is always constant depression, death and so on. Sasha's scenes were like that one hope or one chance to be able to laugh during the show and we lost that. It's like Hajime Isayama is trying to tell us, "prepare for pure depression now, because i'm taking away the one thing that made you happy". That's how i see it. As someone who finished the whole show, still the worst death to me and i still refuse to believe Sasha was killed off. I still see her in the background of all scenes even if she isn't there.
