In one of the scenes before we saw him in the last episode, Reiner had said something about you gotta keep moving forward when Eren fell and was asking how he could be strong like Reiner and Mikasa. Also Willy, I wonder what’s his reveal gonna be. Im hoping nothing bad happens to him. I feel like they’re gonna try to stop him from revealing whatever truth he may reveal that their gonna do something bad to him. Also MY PEOPLEEEE! My reaction was just like y’all’s. You saw how Reiner was happy when Falco won, but you also could see how Colt was concerned. It was the same thing in the "Midnight train", Colt was lifting up Gabi. These were all same as what Marcel was doing. Colt didn't wanted Falco to be the nine, so Colt was desperate to lift Gabi up. To image Colt's feelings... I can see why he was so desperate. Second, the conversation with Eren and his grand father. You saw how his grand father was regretting, he was saying "I was too harsh on him to become a doctor". But we all know that Grisha wasn't hating his father for that. Grisha hated his father for forcing on his believeth to him. So the grand father was regretting and having a mental breakdown with something that has totally nothing to do with. I like these kinds of misunderstandings, it is just like humans in our real life. Last thing, about the nation "Hizuru". Japan was used to be called "Hi izuru kuni"(日出る国/A land where sun raise up) in the ancient days. So I think Isayama got the nation's name from that. AOT is not stopping!! Have fun and take care:)

It's a joy to be able to relive this story vicariously through the two of you again. I definitely want to interact and share some views with you, particularly after you asked for comments concerning it :) I'll try not to overdo it! 'Truth is subjective'. I believe Jared said this. It's an observation that's so poignant and hits so hard for this show, as well as with some of the things you were discussing. You talked about a lot. For example, Infiltration was interesting to me. With this, you can see the layers of writing with Magath mentioning the 'rats in the structure'. Additionally, I couldn't agree more with how much gravity and intensity there is in Eren's meeting with his grandfather. What a scene. However, as someone of mixed race too, I definitely wanted to take you up on your invitation, because I totally reacted in a similar way when I first read the Manga too! So, I am mixed Black Nigerian and White British. That's come with its own gifts and challenges, but your background makes up who you are and colours your experiences :) My personal viewpoint is that Race is a social construct. Full stop. It's been invented and perpetuated to divide us, sow discord, and elevate certain groups with false validations. We are human beings, and that's our race. That's how i feel about it, unequivocally. I try not to even use the word racism anymore, rather than discrimination or 'colourism'. Speaking broadly, I would say that we use race to divide people by common physical traits, and some social factors that have become attached to those. Ethnicity is geographical, including language, culture, heritage, prevailing philosophy from history etc. SO, AOT! I am a firm believer that Isayama is an absolute genius. Nothing in this series, and I mean nothing, is empty. I think he uses these things in his writing to devastating effect, and he leaves us with burning questions that apply to our lives and society as a whole. Within AoT we can see the themes of history (both oral and written; how they are passed down and/or monopolised), misconceptions, biases, classism and elitism. In this episode alone, you can see the difference in treatment of Willy Tybur from other Eldians. Ignorance binds everyone in this show. Everyone! It's utterly stupendous writing. I find AoT to not just be a beautiful critique of its own world, but in turn, the world of the author and viewers. We have such terrible, harrowing moments. The anticipation of Udo, for example, facing horrific repercussions for an act utterly trivial when compared with how he's been unfairly treated for his entire life - is intense. But in the same breath, you see kindness from the Eastener from Hizuru. Then, you see a group of world leaders and dignitaries raising a glass to an Eldian! One that they've grown up with and understand. One from a prominent family credited with 'saving the world'. For me, there are such parallels to our world. Do you recall on numerous occasions how the Warriors/Warrior Candidates and their families speak of the Eldians on Paradis? These are their own people, in essence! Grisha brilliant described his father 'demeaning himself' to Marleyan public security. The ingrained mentality behind it (and the difference between Grisha's own views) kinda reminds me of features of the 'House' and Runaway brothers/sisters in African American culture. It's obvious that Isayama used dynamics like theses (as well as the obvious ones that are taken from the Jewish community in Nazi Germany). Again, utter genius. At the end of the episode, we see the beautiful scene with the Warriors/Warrior Candidates enjoying the festival in Liberio. A scene like this just encapsulates the dichotomy beautifully. At the core, these are just HUMANS. Kids put through hell that have never been able to experience the wider world with a smile and no fear. Then, a broken Reiner spends his money on them just to see them smile, something that he in turn allows himself to do for once. I say all this to say - AoT is in no small part about the human condition. The worst and best of it. You have all this beauty and capability, but starkly, always sitting there, is humankind's terrible inhumanity to humankind. In conclusion, Hajime Isayama is a freaking genius and the layers to this story are just something that always fills me with the full gamut of emotions. *** P.S. 1. Anime voice acting: I think that as you continue on your journey, both of you will get better at noticing particular voice actors. Especially the big ones! And not just in AoT, I mean across different shows. It's a bit like the 'face-blindness' thing :) For a lot of people they'd have recognised Eren the moment he spoke. But this isn't a criticism! I just wanted to point it out as it's a fun thing to consider :D There are lots of facets to an anime, for sure 2. I also LOVE the outro song and this is my favourite outro in the series, both visually and sonically :D 3. SHOUT-OUT TO DA BROTHAS AND DA BLONDIIIIIEZZZ!

It’s always happy genuine surprise that makes me laugh and warms my heart because of how rare it is not only to have Black people in media but also shown under no stereotypes or caricatures. Just normal like everyone else in the world. With that said, you guys are really funny when you get hyped up. When you’re done watching the series and decide to rewatch, there’s 2 YouTube channels I think you would have a ball watching their reactions to the show alongside your own rewatch. Blind Wave and YaBoyRoshi, they’re very funny and analytic. YaBoyRoshi typically leaning more towards the funny side of things but they still pick up on subtleties and what not. Blind Wave is a group reaction channel (different rosters for different shows but typically you can find the main 4 guys on each popular show) that reacts to a bunch of different shows and movies including Death Note and Haikyuu if you ever feel like checking them out. YaBoyRoshi is a Black group channel similar to you guys in how much they genuinely love anime and have ongoing comedic bits for each show that can intertwine with different shows. Anyways I say all this to let you know you aren’t alone in loving the representation for our people in anime and when you get done there’s 2 more ways to re-experience AOT (1 through a rewatch and the second through watching reactions on YouTube). This season its different, people is lying, hiding agendas, telling partial truths, talking in metafores and so.
