AOT 4x3 Reaction!! *OTAKU GOLD*

Comments

I know you guys have finished the show but damn, you have both face and voice blindness 🤣

Kpop Tart

It was hilarious that you thought that Kenny was Annie's father somehow.

Victoria_Night

Simply the greatest piece of media to ever grace this earth.

Kyyode

I wholeheartedly agree with your views about how this show opens up your mind and helps you reflect. Really well put and I’m so glad that people feel this way

Nihal

I'd watch a rewatch binge. lol

Jonah Bertorelli

I've been having so many problems with Vimeo, so I was unable to watch for a while and was to the point I canceled my sub cuz I just couldn't enjoy it any more. But man am I glad I decided to get stubborn and work through the pain and have to switch browsers back and forth, and restart my PC and all the bullshit that came along with trying to watch vimeo videos. I didn't even know you guys started using two sites and boy am I glad you're using streamable now. it seems to work and I can finally watch again stress free. no tiny window popping up if I accidentally refresh the page, and I can watch two videos in a row without the website taking a shit! I was able to resub before I lost my spot! good deal I can binge to the end now! dopeness

Jonah Bertorelli

y'all's face blindness is insane xD

TheFinePlayer

i have a question tho about the book, are you guys gonna ship it worldwide or is it gonna be only for selected countries?

Maevizion ~ Maëva

I love that you guys can empathize even though it can be difficult sometimes

Rahma

Great reaction as always 💪🏻

Joshuuu

Wow that's the first time I heard the theory that Marcel talking down Porco, probably had no effect on the decision for Reiner to be chosen. It makes sense when I think about it too. Marley isn't stupid and wouldn't base their entire decision on Marcel's word. Cool theory.

tom

Mindf..k after mindf..k after mindf..k

József Soltész

Little fun fact that wasn't explained in the anime. The Ackerman clan is a family of titan engineered superhumans! That would explain why awakened Ackermans are so damn strong. And can also explain why they can't have memories erased. They're basically humans who possess the strength of a titan lol

Val

Not really lol

Val

When Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt were in Paradis pretending to be "soldiers," they were actually the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the top ten list (only Mikasa was stronger than them, as she was 1st). The reason is that, as you just saw, not only were they trained warriors in their past lives in Marley, but they were also the best of the best. That is why they got chosen to wield titan powers. So, the training to be a "soldier" in Paradis was actually a piece of cake for them.

Noah

at 1:01:21, when Annie wakes up after the chaos they ensued, among the refugees you can see Armin, Eren and Mikasa sitting in the back (,:

Hannah

I do love your reactions very much. Experiencing my fave anime with you has tought me so much. Your thoughts are great and deep. And I also have noticed so much I first didn't. Thank you so much, I really appreciate you human beeings!!!! Now give me an apple

"this is insane"

tanasia (BAKUGreatestofalltime)

To explain Keeny isn't Annie's daughter. While R&B were doing their pwn thing, Annie was looking for clues in the capital to find the royal family. With the clues that she had gathered she suspected Kenny of being a close person to the royal Family and started to trail him. Annie was trying to bs her way through saying she was his daughter but Kenny obviously isn't going to fall for that. This was also supposed to be a joke for the audience, it was a lot more fleshed out in the Manga and a bit rushed in the anime due to the fast face of the episode. But we have many key details to know for a fact Kenny can't be Annies dad.

Armin Arlert

im so happy about the bertholdt apology, i really needed this hahaha

tanasia (BAKUGreatestofalltime)

hahah no they are not related, at all. they both just had the same mission and annie was following kenny knowing that

Xitlaly

The book actually sounds interesting

Arian65

Concepts94

In regards to Anny and Kenny, They are not actually related. The mission was for them to take the founding titan held by the king, Kenny was working with the king, Anny was so close to finding the king that she found the right hand man to the king (Kenny). When Anny was caught following Kenny she made up some story about being some long lost child of Kenny's. Around the time that Anny would have been born in Marley Kenny was slitting throats of MP's or working under the king within the walls.

Jinwoo is the goat, fight me

I love the imagery we often see when it comes to certain characters in this show. One of my favorites is when we see Reiner, at times there's a shadow across his face. I think it speaks to the split he feels not only in his identify as a warrior v. soldier, but also as a Marleyan v. Eldian like how you guys pointed out. There's few other imagery or symbols/figures/nature/animals that are tied to certain characters throughout this show. If you're clever enough to put these together, it can tell you a lot about what the show is trying to implicitly scream at you. Also, you guys thinking Kenny is Annie's dad is absolutely hilarious because we already saw Annie's dad a couple of episodes ago in Marley when he was talking to Reiner's mom. Plus, Kenny doesn't match the figure we already saw in Annie's flashback in season 1 lol :P

Les

what happend to u?

kasra

Sorry to disappoint but Kenny is not actually Annie's dad! She was following Kenny for information about the king but he found out so she made up that lie to get away.

Caramelzip5

Great breakdown! Hopefully they see it so it helps them with S4 better 💯

IQLou

I say this with all the love in my heart. I think you guys are better off sticking with dubbed anime until you get more into the journey. I’ve noticed for a while now you get tremendously confused with dialogue (not ragging on you it’s a different language I get it) and I think it’s because tone is hard to interpret for a foreign language. In the dub you can pick up on the more panicked tone Annie spoke with when making up a false backstory when Kenny caught her. And you can hear Kenny’s “yeah right kid” tone when calling her out and his sarcasm when saying if she wants a hug from papa to stick her hands up. Attack on Titan is a show of mysteries and breadcrumbs yes but it will never lie to you. I just think you guys interpret certain things differently because you can’t pick up on the “way” the voice actors are speaking and that leads you to trying to make things deeper than they are or taking certain things too much at face value. Again, completely understand not being able to get the nuance of dialogue when hearing a language you don’t understand and are only able to read the words. Much love, love the reactions keep it up! You guys are my favorites out of any new reactors I’ve come across as of recent

Jade Age

I feel like I'm finally able to say that Reiner is my favorite AoT character. We learned he isn't a villian, just a victim to his circumstances due to the world hating Eldians for just existing.

Tom Bombadil

Something you guys might not have caught in this episode. In the flashback of the warriors attacking Shiganshina, Bertholdt detransforms out of the colossal titan and sees the Dina Fritz titan. She ignores him and walks past him to go to Grisha's house to eat Carla, hinting at the fact that she had something else in mind other than just eating people. (1:00:11 for reaction timestamp)

JasonGamer

Ok so I am not a first time watcher BUT why do I not remember 2 specific scenes in this episode that are pretty important? One being when reiner is about to CTRL ALT DELETE himself and the other one is the fact KENNY IS ANNIE'S REAL FATHER?? How did I miss that my first time around? That's crazy she's potentially Levi's cousin and would explain why she's in my list of who I think the top 3 strongest characters are in this show (she's #3 with Mikasa at #2 and Levi #1) Now I've rewatched the annie scene a few times now since watching this reaction, the more I watch the more I second guess if it is annie, is she wearing a wig or something? Her hair is much longer than what she looks like normally, or the other theory I have was the scene with Kenny was actually further back in time and she confronted him while still in Marley, as we known ackermans are immune to the memory loss so it would be plausible Kenny always knew about humanity outside the walls Thanks for another great reaction guys

You have an Army, yeah We got a Jinx(Brandon)

Lmao, I had the exact opposite reaction, was so proud!

Kevin

"Gabi is such a likeable character." 🤮 I will never forgive Jared for this one. Ugh!

Ushna Seeam

I have rewatched many aot episodes but never a whole show all together as I am now with you guys and its so wild to see all those small details that this show has. For example we even saw Eren last episode in the line where all the bruised warriors were, and we saw Falco helping Eren.

Iida

👀

Dwob

You make a great point about Reiner, I've never thought about it that way but the fact that he's half-eldian half-marleyan really puts things into perspective. When you look at everything he's been through, he was just meant to break and split at some point down the road. On one side, his mother wants him to be a specific type of person, on the other, his father rejected his very existence... Then he becomes a warrior but learns that he wasn't meant to be one... Then he joins the soldiers inside the walls but eventually gets reminded that it wasn't for real either... It's like everything Reiner ever tried to be ends up being fake, and that leaves him with no proper personnality, he doesn't know who he is - or more specifically- he's never even been anyone. Our boy is just completely broken. I can't help but feel sorry for him.

Jlmvj

I just want to point out how fucked up and tragic this entire episode is, especially for Reiner. From birth he was brainwashed into thinking who he and his family are devils and just wanted her and her father's acceptance. Then after becoming an Honorary Marleyan and seeing his dad again, thinking his could live together happily, he's shouted at by him, called a devil and told that he never wants to see Reiner again. Then after that, he believes that him earning the title of one of the Nine Titans would give him validity only to find out he was never meant to earn it in the first place. Then Marcel, the leader of their group is killed right in front of his and everybody's eyes. The only person holding the team together is gone. Then they persist with the mission because they're all scared that if they return home with nothing to show, they and their families will be killed. And here you see Annie just release everything she's thinking and take it all out on Reiner, and all Bert can do is just watch as his friends literally try to murder one another. And after breaking the wall, killing thousands of people, pretending to be a soldier for 5 years, abandoning the only other friends he had made in his life and returning home with nothing to show for, he's lost everything. His leader was killed. His best friend Bert, was eaten. Annie was taken captive. He'd killed a comrade who he'd trained 3 years with (Marco) and betrayed his friends in an instant. And he returns home alone, defeated, traumatized, broken and suicidal. He literally doesn't have anything to live for at this point. Him and the other warriors were broken from the moment they were born. They were never given a chance to repair themselves. They had the pressure of a nation on their shoulders and the power of a god. Just a bunch of kids who didn't even know right from wrong. Forced to shoulder the sins of the world. And the saddest part is Reiner, Bert and Annie probably were living their happiest lives amongst their "enemies" in the walls...

****WARNING!!!**** BELOW COMMENT CAN BE GRAPHIC AND SEXUAL THEMED. All eight Titians can be references to the male genital, size and it's performance. 1. Attack Titian (Self-explanatory) 2. Female Titian (Female genital. Versatility, which Is able to adapt to all 8 Titians) 3. Armored Titian (Strong and hard) 4. Colossal Titian (The Titian that all men wished they had) 5. Jaw Titian (Speedy and small) 6. Cart Titian (Endurance) 7. Beast Titian (Potent. Which definition literally means, "Able to achieve an erection or to reach an orgasm.") 8. Warhammer Titian (Self-explanatory) 9. Founding Titan ( The Titan that can Manipulate a woman's memory) lol Rewatching J&J video on timeline 48:00 to 49:12 You'd get a different perspective. Too bad Bertolt couldn't handle his Colossal Titian. 😂😂 😂 My mind is in the gutter. But thinking back when J&J 1st saw Eren's Titian Attacking the Female Titian. Their minds went straight to the gutter. They thought that they were watching Titian Porn. 😂 😂 😂 That still cracks me up.

Hey guys! I love your reactions and the way you think throughout the episodes. I wanted to point out the something with Reiner's backstory. He essentially became a warrior because of his mothers wish to become honorary Marleyans to reunite with his his Father. This is a repeating theme we have seen throughout the story. Grisha's parents forced their ideology on him, and then like father like son, Grisha then forced his own ideals on Zeke. Rod Riess did the same thing to Historia as well! I believe this is why Zeke has deduced that Eren has been brainwashed by the beliefs of Grisha. We see this a lot in todays society with politics/religion. My question for both of you is, do you believe that it is wrong to force your ideals on your children or is it a sin to do so? I would love to hear your thoughts on it because I'm not so sure myself! Btw I've watched this series 10 or more times now and each time I notice something else that relates to REAL world problems!

YoItsNiko

i would like the book, pls. i'm very interested in stuff of that nature, would be a fascinating read. i was the ultimate reiner hater my first watch through, UNTIL i got to season 4 and saw all of this and everything still to come. reiner is easily now in my top 5 fav characters. such a complex interesting character. reiner they could never make me hate you again 🥳

hin0kamikagura

This show is so crazy in the way its story is told, I did not like Reiner at all before season 4 came out, I was always team eren if he hated Reiner I hated Reiner but watching season 4 as it came out I realized it’s not eren vs titans/Reiner it’s humans against humans and that hurt more because now I don’t see a faceless enemy but a person

Nistley

Hi! I loved your reaction like always! I wasn't going to comment on this one(because most of the thing I wanted to say is said by someone) but since you're doing the give away for the book, I had to comment! I've wanted to read this book you recommended for a long time now. This is not connected directly to AOT but there is a thing I remembered with your discussion. About "The conflict is in our DNA" and so on... My child had a slight issue with her communication towards other people, and the counselor of her was saying this: They say the conflict and compering is in our DNA, but in the ice age, only people who could warm one another could survive through that. So the humans living in this time, has a DNA that can care for each other and share the warmth together. I don't know if this story is the true history or just a expedient story to tell children, but I thought this is something I want to remember. Just like the "Allegory of the long spoons", we need care to be happy. That's all for today's comment! I'm looking forward for more of your reactions! Have fun and take care! :)

hiro ame

I just wanna say, animes have jokes and sarcasm. That is all

Reiners character development throughout the story is just so amazing

Put me in for the book :). Might get the Audible version if there is one. Another great reaction!!

IQLou

Im back to say... DONT MISS THE END CREDIT SCENE NEXT EPISODE. Episode 4 of season 4. Otherwise youll be me 4 years ago, thinking I streamed the wrong anime or some bs

Joshua Martinez

all i gotta say is… regarding the thing i cant say … nooooo 😩 i wanted them to realize but … its fine… it will hit them. one thing to note tho is how the music switched back to the seasons 1-3 music during the flashback scenes. it shows how marley and paradise have its own vibe and theme. this epsiode makes me nostalgic. also annie stepped on a bug in that scene you were confused about when she said she wasnt listening. its very much forshadowing for what she ends up doing to the scouts. goes to show on the surface she is a somewhat cold person.. which adds some context as to why she killed people is such sadistic ways. im not saying annie doesnt have redeeming qualities but it does provide some insight into her mind

Concepts94

The likelihood of there being a complexly, meticulously crafted show like AoT is so close to 0 it might as well be 0. I also feel the same about Breaking Bad specifically, was my goat for so many years before finishing AoT. You only truly know how godly AoT is when you,at least, re-watch it 1 time. The amount of detail is absolutely insane, borderline mental. Hajime is both a genius and madman.

Manuel

and when galliard in the last episode said i saw that girl ymirs memorys. he was calling him out for acting like his brother marcel while on the island. reiner was playing the roll of soldier and marcell on the island. feel bad for the guy. its no wonder he tried to off himself

Concepts94

Actually Bertholdt did handle the powers of colossal titan very well.. He was defeated only because of Armin's plan of a diversion. As compared to Annie and Reiner.. Bertholdt seems more calm and collected, and isn't of rebellious nature so he was trusted by Marley for the colossal. Imagine someone like Eren or Gabi having this destructive power in their hands.

its_aliza

Mikasa was the one in Reiner's dream. She was the one who shot him out of his Titan form, remember? And do you notice anything about the old man's story? That's the story Reiner and Berthold used as an "alibi" for themselves and told Eren (I think Season 1 Episode 3). And now you also know who Reiner's 2nd personality is. It's Marcel (I think you missed Porco saying something like "I'd say you were imitating my brother" to Reiner in episode 2). You're misunderstanding the Annie scene. Kenny even says he doesn't believe her and also Annie is from Marley so that doesn't work. Annie was just trying to find out information about the Founding Titan and used that as an excuse to distract. And no, AoT IS the best show. Before AoT, my favorite was Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul. I think you'll say the same thing when you're done with the show. It makes you happy but at the same time it's sad because I don't think there will ever be another show like AoT. (Maybe Berserk can be as good when it's finished and gets a decent anime adaptation)

Maka

Hi I want book. Thank

pg.0314

“Fu*k war man” Jordan is correct. Jared you wouldn’t recommend this series to younger viewers yet what are they seeing in the news everyday? When you see the similarities to WW 1, WW 2, to present day conflicts, the inhumanity is palpable and the superb storytelling makes you feel that in spades. We have developed a group think mentality, where if “you” don’t look like “me”, pray like me, believe in what I believe, live like me, vote like me, than you must cease to exist! It’s been this way since the dawn of time and seems to be getting worse. This show is so great because it’s so relatable and how incredibly sad is that.

Cheryl Lambert

"Annie's father is Kenny!?" - Guys, please. It's called LYING. Remember - if something doesn't seem right or add up properly, use the knowledge you already have to think critically about the situation. In season four, more than any other season, you can't take people at their word. What was established before this: 1. Annie was born and grew up in Marley. 2. Annie never had a mother, only a father. 3. We saw her father briefly in flashbacks back in S1. 4. Kenny said that he was never meant to be someone's father. What was shown in the scene: 1. Kenny didn't believe her claims - "This joke isn't funny" 2. Annie asks "How are you sure it's not you?" - Wondering why he was so quick to call her out on her excuse. 3. Kenny says "A promise I made to my sister" - Kuchel was a prostitute who got pregnant by one of her customers, and ended up dying at that brothel. This line implies that he'd never do to someone what his sister went through - he'd never knock someone up and leave them with a kid. On top of this, the tone of Kenny's voice acting is one of deadpan/sarcasm when he says things like "Oh yeah, well that's real touching". I understand it may be difficult for you guys to pick this up since you tend to have issue knowing which character is speaking based solely on their voice. Hope that helped clarify that scene and provided some useful tips/insight for watching the show going forward. And remember - you can generally trust that a character believes what they THINK, but not what they SAY.

Maevizion ~ Maëva

Ok great reaction as Always. I'll go ahead and clear up the Annie/ Kenny misunderstanding. Kenny is NOT Annie's father. Remember, the warrior's missionon Paradis is to smoke out the founding titan. Do you remember who Kenny works for? What you witnessed was Annie tailing Kenny. (she must have figured out that he's connected to the founding titan) Kenny caught her snooping around, and she used the "father" thing as an excuse which Kenny wasn't buying. The back and forth between them was just the two of them being smart asses. Annie realized she met her match, attacked and fled the scene. Hope this helps.

Eugene Conner

Arian65 would like to know your location XD

its_aliza

that woman...

its_aliza

I’ve been screaming at the screen like a madwoman for this entire reaction 🤣🤣 Although it will not run anywhere, you will eventually realize it one way or another. I need to mention two things though: 1. Kenny… you are not the father! So basically Annie has been investigating something in the “sewers”, probably she was looking for a founding titan as it was their mission after all. At that point Eren already obtained it, however Marley had no way to know that as Grisha took the coordinate from Reiss family right after Annie, Berthy and Reiner breached the walls. So I suppose she was looking for the Reiss family. Kenny had a strong connection with Uri and the royal family so that might be the reason why Annie tailed him. She used his “fatherhood” as an excuse. 2. This one is good. Holy Hajime🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️ Remember the story that the guy who hanged himself told to our three? After the wall got breached he saw a titan on the other side of the window. This exact story was used by Bertholomeo and Reiner at season 1 when they told their “story” to Eren. Back then there was no point in not believing in that story… yet now it all makes sense. Holy Hajime Isayama!🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️🧎🏻‍♀️ Btw If I somehow won the book… is it possible for you guys to put in there your autographs? 🤣 I know, it’s a bit dramatic but I would love it to be some sort of a souvenir that I’ve been on this journey with you guys 🤣 Of course if I will somehow win 🥸 I think that I’m not the only one that would love to have a book signed by the legendary twins 😎

BILLIE (Hairy Harry)

Reiner they could never make me hate you

Алта

Great catch

IQLou

Just want to note that currently.. Eren, Armin, and Mikasa are 19 years old. While Reiner is 21. Annie being 20. In addition to a studio change but also a timeskip change to which makes the designs of the characters look different (age/design).

MangoJuice

The sad and depressing thing is that the guy who jumped off and killed himself was one of the eldian soliders who had the PTSD from the battle and so all the thunder and lightning was triggering it so he couldn't take it anymore so he ended it all 😞

BBQburger

I completely forgot about that!

Kenken

And holy shit I got the snaps from the twins??!! Thanks for reading my comment, it made my day! :))

Elle Firespray

In season 2 episode 11, when Reiner and Bertholdt had taken Eren, and all the scouts were riding on Reiner's titan and having a conversation with Bertholdt, Jean said "For 3 years, didn't we sleep together under the same roof as comrades thru thick and thin? Bertholdt... your odd sleeping positions were truly and art form. After a while, we all looked forward to seeing your pose and tried to use it to predict the weather". And now in this episode, in season 4, we get a flashback to those recruit years, to what jean meant, where we see Bertholdts weird sleeping position and Marco, Connie and Thomas just looking at him and talking with each other while watching him, "What are those legs? That's a new one." "Are his legs saying snow today?" "No, that's a clear skies position". You should rewatch your reaction to that 2x11 episode from minute 12:53 to 15:10... it'll hit you like a ton of bricks now. https://vimeo.com/933836093 And Kenny isn't Annie's dad. She was investigating and somehow found out Kenny was close to the Reiss royal family and made up that story when Kenny discovered her. When I read this in the manga, I remember having the exact same reaction as you did ;) like whaaaat?? :D I love your reactions so much, keep it up! <3

Elle Firespray

Reiner's situation hurts to watch. I feel like we watched something break a little more and more inside of him throughout this episode. To me the turning point was definitely Marcels death. He said "Reiner is dead. If we need Marcel, then I'll be Marcel" to me that sounds like a second identity was created inside of him.

Kenken

I cant imagine being a child so young, and being subjected to what Reiner did. I'm surprised he managed to hold it together for so long. I don't know if many other people could, I mean we saw what he tried to do this episode.

Blaahh

It’s hilarious to see you hit the mark at bullseye so many times but completely miss many things at the same time too 😂

A J Chandra

Yup, episodes like these man… really puts everything into perspective. What tears me apart is they were just kids which Isayama definitely does on purpose to strangle our heart strings. This anime is quite literally a generational masterpiece

Paper Bags

i 100% agree

gdnsx

It is confusing on a first watch. Anyone who says they understood everything about this show on first watch is a liar. Ya'll are doing ok. As they keep watching they'll understand more, we have to be patient.

Angieshroom

It is perfectly fine that you have rewatched multiple times that scene with the guy on the rooftop, the one who ended his life in episode 2. Just like 99% of us, you guys thought it was Reiner as well, and this was made on purpose. Arguably one of the fastest forshadowin that has been solved in the show. It was a hint of Reiner's suicidal state.

Randy Flash

"lets go back to out hometown... do they mean inside the walls?" nooooooooooo BANGS HEAD ON KEYBOARD LOL

I WANT THE BOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU SOUNDS AMAZING AND INSIGHTFUL HOPE I WINNN

star

See, this is why I adore this story. I've read it twice and watched it 3 times, and I have never heard this one. So intriguing!

Romba_7

Totally agree.

Romba_7

My guys, even though you sometimes miss points or misconstrue things (pretty hilarious in one case), I think the two of you are perfect reactors for this show. You're the kind of audience that I think Isayama would consider an ideal one. The two of you grasp what, for me, is the true essence of this show - the humanity. The two of you EXCEL at grasping themes, emotions, motivations, social commentary, allegory and parallels scattered throughout this fantastic story. And that, to me, is the beauty of an elite story. These human things that can almost be intangible at times. And you can do that because you're empathetic human beings who can appreciate suffering, and perseverance in equal measure. Big love and props, homies.

Romba_7

OK interesting fact: bert's sleeping position is based off the hanging man tarot, which describes some elements of bert as a character. one interpretation of the card is that it shows a man hanging upside down from the living world tree by his foot. represents letting go, sacrificing and taking time to reflect. on the dark side the position was used as a medieval form of torture against treasonous individuals

bort

Your reaction to this episode is a great example of why myself and many others love watching reactions to this series. On top of all the amazing plot twists and intricate story, you get to see people’s ethics and emotions morph in real time. It’s very common for reactors to absolutely despise Reiner/Bert/Annie for most of the show. Oftentimes calling them evil, saying there’s no excuse, and that they should be made to suffer horrible deaths. Season 4 is my favorite season because it forces first time watchers to really reckon with their beliefs (as you guys pointed out at the end). And the show doesn’t blatantly tell you who’s right or wrong. You are completely left to wrestle with those thoughts on your own. This season really showcases J&J’s strength as reactors, and I’m so looking forward to every single episode of S4!

Kevin

'Unsubstantiated Hypothesis'. Broooo, that whole bit had me dead xD

Romba_7

The writing for this show really is Pieck (buh-bum-shhh). At 1:06:42, when the depressed guy is talking about his past, this is a reference to the original season 1 episode 3, where Bertholdt talks about "his" past to Eren. It shows the same flashback image from this episode, but with Bert standing at the window instead of the depressed man, because they used the guy's past as a cover up/backstory for themselves, where the guy said there were 3 kids left behind during the titan attack.

Big T

I like this observation.

Romba_7

i loved the way you described Karina

Winifred

Glad that this particular piece of media is allowing a deeper connection to real life events and emotions such as those that come from war. Each person will react and connect differently to the same piece of media, but I think one of the many reasons this show is so loved is that the connection to the human experience is more universal than most other media have managed to accomplish. The ability of a piece of fiction to draw emotion out of me and improve my understanding of the real world is my main criteria for personal enjoyment and this show nails it. (I hope you two can explore my personal favorite show for this aspect in the future, Frieren. I think with your ability to connect the show to real people in the real world will make the show very enjoyable for you.)

Jackson Seales

There must be a mix up in the DNA matching department. I believe they sent you the wrong and not updated document. Kenny is NOT the father.

MangoJuice

Kenny and Annie have no relation. If you think about it, that wouldn't be possible and Kenny even said that her joke isn't making him laugh. That scene is just to show that Annie was investigating the Founding Titan, and she got pretty close considering she reached Kenny, who was close to the royal bloodline. We know Annie is good at investigating from her OVA so it makes sense for her to be the one trying to figure things out from the inside, while R&B investigate in the Scouts.

Nate

Kenny is not Annie’s father. From the very few seconds we’ve seen of Annie’s dad, he’s always been telling her that he’s on her side, and that she has to come back home to him. Annie was searching for clues about the Royal Family & the Founding Titan. Kenny worked for the true Royal Family, so she had a lead by following him. But since she was caught, she came up with a quick story & had to run away.

zamar 🤍

bro why would u say that

Emanuel 2

i think its too late to say this but DO NOT WATCH the dub for the next episode. there are certain parts that give away wayyy to much

This is one of my favorite episodes. It really shows Reiner's progression into madness, from wanting to live together with his father as a family, to wanting to become the world's hero. Reiner was always struggling to find his purpose which is also why he was more susceptible and loyal to Marley, because they were giving him purpose. When he realizes that he couldn't fulfill any of his purposes, he just wants everything to end and attempts suicide. He looks out the window and sees Falco which gives him another reason to live. Reiner has found a new purpose which is to protect the younger warrior candidates from experiencing the same suffering that he did.

Nate

Kenny is not Annie’s father. Btw that was Eren who showed up at last

Eren Jaeger

Kenny is 100% not related to Annie in anyway lol. Annie was following Kenny in an attempt to get info about the founding titan, because he is close to the royal family, however he catches her, so she tries to distract him by making up some bs story, and flees. Kenny is from paradis, Annie is from Marley.

Much love to you guys! best reactions on the web. Looking forward to Jared's 7 page paper analysis after you've finished the show :)

Fun fact: Eren, Armin, and Mikasa can be seen in the background right after Annie wakes up, meaning that they were staying in the same refugee camp as the warriors. If you rewatch the second episode of season 1, you can actually see the warriors at the refugee camp in a couple of scenes: Annie at 15:31 and Reiner and Bertholdt at 19:38.

that killed me bro lmao

1:06:28 The story this guy is telling them has been told before in this series. "I lived in Wall Maria, deep in the southeast mountains. It happened at dawn. The animals were all stirred up and i heard a strange rumbling. Thinking it was footsteps i opened the window and ..." This is a man telling his story on how him and his people in the mountains found out titans broke through Wall Maria. This same exact story. Bertholdt told Eren and Armin in season 1 episode 3. When Eren asked "Where are you guys from?" to Reiner and Bertholdt. Bertholdt retold this story to him, basiacaly lying so he would have a fake story on where he is from within the walls. Even that picture of the man opening the window. The same picture was shown back then but with Bertholdt instead of the man

Gatha Naranath

It's never really said in the show but I'm pretty sure that one of the reasons they chose Bertholdt for the Colossal is because of his quieter, meek personality. As Reiner said in season 3, he "never makes his own decisions" and just waits for others to signal him. If you were the Marleyan government giving someone the literal power of a nuke, you don't want them to be the type of person confident enough to turn on you.
