You spied either a stag or rhinoceros beetle. Insects are symbolic in Japanese culture and the Shinto religion. It is very common to see beetles/insects, their study, and the hobby of insect collecting in anime. Beetles, cicadas, fireflies, fireworks, beach vacations, watermelon, trips to hot springs, culture festivals, sports tournaments, someone sick in bed with a cold, cherry blossoms, school trips, a character pushing up their glasses, etc. are often tropes repeated in anime series. I can look past the trope-y-ness and enjoy a little insight into Japanese culture, understanding itโ€™s a bit of a charicature (similar to how American cartoons like the Simpsons or Family Guy spoof or over-simplify American culture).

Hey guys, first time comment. I really love how you guys analyze this series as former athletes. I myself played d1 volleyball as a Libero and honestly I couldnโ€™t be further from having a nishinoya attitude. I related more with Tsukki. I was on a team surrounded with players way more talented than me. Which would get me in my negative feels quite often. It was not until I found this series my junior year that I was able to think differently about the game. This season especially made me get out of my comfort zone and eventually into a mode of pure confidence on the court. Like other sports, itโ€™s so incredibly easy to be negative and hard on yourself in volleyball. Haikyuu teaches us that mistakes are essential to further growth in your field whether itโ€™s sports or anything else. Really looking forward to you two finishing this season and seeing the epicness that the rest of the series has to offer. Keep up the good work, Chase

By watching this series again I can understand more Tsukkishimaโ€™s behavior, he seems to be afraid of doing his best, because if he tries and fails is more disappointing and painful. He is building a wall by pretending he doesnโ€™t care, saying itโ€™s just a club or making excuses like in this practice with Bokuto and Kuroo (โ€œIโ€™m still growingโ€) or even in the first newbies practice match last season (โ€œItโ€™s just natural for the king to winโ€). Tsukki is a complex character that grows slowly on you, at first sight he is annoying but after some time you are cheering for him. As you have already heard, the teams in Haikyuu share some traits with their related animals, like the catโ€™s flexibility in Nekoma, and in this chapter is when we understand the crow traits in Karasuno. Coach Nekomata said: โ€œTheyโ€™re crows, theyโ€™re omnivorous. They eat everything there is to eat and take advantage of those stronger than them to survive.โ€ Karasuno observe their opponents, learn their techniques and adapt it to their own play. That is the way they have to evolve. Have you ever done the same thing as athletes?

I identify with Tsukki a lot, both in build and mannerisms. I'm kind of a smart ass but even keeled for the most part, I never get super down or super excited, on a scale of 1-10 I'm generally between 4 and 7. I know the feeling of being apprehensive in devoting more than a certain amount of time and energy into something, because nothing feels worse than wasting your time, to do something and produce no results. So these episodes strike a very relatable chord with me.
