At the end of this episode they looked sore like the show was a workout lmao

Get ready for the final season of "Attack on Titan"! It's packed with more plot twists than a Titan's digestive system and enough action to make even Levi break a sweat. So strap on your ODM gear, grab some snacks, and prepare for a wild ride that'll have you yelling "Sasageyo!" like you're auditioning for the Scout Regiment!

Async[Dave]

Wow I just shocked of realising that🥶 after multiple rewatching The Marlians officer who killed Fay he was enjoying because he believed that he just witnessed a devil being killed. The viewers enjoying when they saw him killed because he was evil 🥶🥶🥶🥶

N H

Nah, after season 3 is way more than 30% I'd say.

Zaak Dann

To make it simple: There are two races Eldian and Marlian There were having and still have a war because of “the titans” There have two different historical stories The Marlain’s : Ymir was evil and she destroyed everything and tortured the world The Eldian’s : Ymir was good and she built everything and led the world to civilisation. After long years war the Marlians captured 7 of the 9 titans , and surprisingly the king of eldians left the war and went to an isolated island called “Paradise” that Island which Erin,Armin,Mikasa … live in. So, they don’t have a clue about the world. The Marlians called Eldian people “subjects of Ymir” because when they injected they turned to a titan. So, to use them they brainwashed them by they story and taking from them “Warriors”, and we heard that title once from Riner. And you may not notice that all the titans from this episode was attacking Shiganshina in season one, actually one of them was the one who ate Erin😋. Don’t forget what Erwin said “Who you think the enemy is?”

N H

Thanks for a great reaction! I have always understood a slight difference between Eldians and subjects of Ymir. Eldians existed before Ymir Fritz, so they are simply Eldians. Once Ymir Fritz entered the storyline, made her deal with the devil, gained Titan powers, and procreated, she became the “mother of modern Eldia” and her Eldian decendents became Subjects of Ymir.

antionette7

She was picked up off of the street to pose as a figurehead because she bore a passing resemblance to depictions of Ymir the founder

Lauren Crawford

Ok. This anime is getting really good now.

Itachi Uchiha (Ericken)

Crazy how up until this point each time we've said "for humanity" it wasn't really for humanity but for the Eldians within the walls. We now have an answer to the question "who is the real enemy?" it's humanity itself

Armin Arlert

Dina mattered because of Marleys ultimate goal, to retake the Founding Titan. If Marley had the Founding Titan AND a royal they would be unstoppable. Marley would have Dina give birth to as many children in order to keep the royal bloodline alive. That's why Kruger shut Grisha up and let Dina be turned into a pure Titan. Hope that helps! 😁

Val

hahahaaa

tanasia (BAKUGreatestofalltime)

also i dont think dinas royalty matters because she is not a marleyan, she is an elidian (of ymir descendant) kinda like mexico/america.. so if their family is chosen they will get honorary marleyans (marleyan citizenship i suppose? my first time watch too but thats what i got from it)

Ntsuab Vwj

'subjects of ymir' basically the 'peoples/descendants of ymir' just like XD sometimes you guys think too hard.. so baiscally all the elidian (however you spell it) people

Ntsuab Vwj

Please share your predictions for season 4 at the beginning of the first episode of season 4! What are your predictions for the season? How do you predict that the show would end??

Tortellini

The amount of 😱 moments u guys had in this ep 🤣 👏🏼

Dwob

Yep Jared fell for isayamas trap hook line and sinker

Sean Carroll

Guys! Take a closer look on the ending screen ("To be continued..."). It foreshadows the other civilization, since Ep1! One of the greatest, if not the greatest foreshadowing in my opinion.

József Soltész

I think they were too busy reading the subtitles and processing everything lmao cuz they reacted quite heavily when they read she was fed to the dogs towards the end 😂

Val

I've been trying to tell you 2 that the show hasn't even started yet for how many days now? 😆 Welcome to the beginning where you learn everything was a lie....

*first time watcher* 👀😱🤯😵‍💫💀 WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?! We are in a completely different world, in a completely different time period, with completely different everything! Argh *pulling my hair* OKAY, some connections + a hell lot of new information. Challenge accepted, but had to rewatch twice! I tried to process, shift info around and reduce A LOT to get to this, but please help me out, guys: 1. History of Ymir Fritz (ancestor to the Eldians) & the great nation of Marley (“Marley”) : A. Contract with the Devil of All Earth 1820 years ago, obtained the Power of the Titans. (Image from the book Historia read with Frieda?) Died, split to Nine Titans, formed Eldian Empire. Defeated Marley and ruled over the continent. B. Story told by Marley- the ‘Subjects of Ymir’ did s**t to them for 1,700 more years C. Story told by Grisha (through some deciphering)- Founder Ymir awakened the Power of the Titans, helped prosper and develop the continent D. 80 years ago, part of Marley’s plot, brought Seven out of Nine Titans under their control, won in the Great Titan War, and took over the continent E. [Slight difference from Marley/ Dina Fritz but combining] At time/ After the War, the King chose not to fight, abandoned his role, turned away from conflict, and fled/ moved the capital to Paradis, even though he had the power of the Founding Titan which can control all other Titans F. Within Paradis, the King erected 3 Walls (of Titans!!🤯). That 3-wall circle image on the map looks like the size of a push-pin compared to the rest of the continent 😱! G. Dina Fritz royal family and remaining Eldians still in the continent, lived in oppression under Marley. 2. Grisha’s story : A. Grisha and family were unfortunate Eldians who lived in the ‘Liberio Internment Zone’. They had to wear armbands or else they will be sent to their ‘paradise’. B. To enter the city (or outside their walls), they needed exit permits. If not, they were punished with labor(?) or get beaten up. C. Grisha chose to get beaten up, for himself and Fay, by Krugar. Gross took Fay away. Fay was found dead, and the family was lied to by the Marley Public Security. However, Grisha’s father did not go against them, and instead convinced Grisha not to do anything. D. Fast forward at age 18, Grisha was gonna take over his father’s clinic, came across Grice, a patriot who revealed the truth behind Fay’s death and “the Owl”. Fay was killed by dogs of Gross’ sons 😣. Swore revenge and joined the Restorationists/ Patriots, led by “the Owl”. E. “The Owl” sent in Dina Fritz. After story, Grisha/ the patriots planned to infiltrate the Walls in Paradis, obtain the Founding Titan powers and annihilate Marley. F. Grisha and Dina married, came Zeke 😱, who is of royal blood. G. Few years later, family photograph taken. Marley announced the need for ‘Subjects of Ymir’ as vessels for the Seven Titans and become Marleyan warriors 🫢. Reason for Marley’s move- need more resources for military technology advances, and theres fossil fuel beneath Paradis. But the King warned Marley then, that if they interfered with Paradis, he will send the millions of Wall Titans to flatten the entire world 😱. So, Marley has same plan as the patriots. H. Grisha then proposed using Zeke to become a Marleyan warrior (the monkey toy 🤦‍♀️) They fed young Zeke with their beliefs and plans. However, Zeke betrayed them, by turning them in to the Marley Public Security. I. Grisha was tortured, then brought to the penal colony of Eldia traitors, Paradis Island- the wall/ border that separates a desert land (possibly leading into 3 Walls) and the sea. Grice was kicked off the wall without injection cos’ it was fun for Gross 😠. Several others were injected at their napes and kicked off. [👀 is that Santa Titan!? The one which ate Eren!?] J. Krugar stopped Grisha from revealing that Dina is of royal blood. “Come and find you..” 😱😱 She is that freaky smile Titan which ate Carla!!! Wait, wasnt she a Pure? Was she not mindless like the rest? 🤔 K. That Titan which ate Gross, was that the same one in the HQ building which almost killed Sasha?! Those eyes.. L. Krugar is “the Owl”! 😱 And Shredded Titan which Eren wields now!! [So maybe Grisha ate Krugar and passed it to Eren..or Im just imagining s**t..] Im gonna faint. The revelations are MIND-BLOWING, yet again! After thoughts: - Im gonna assume Subjects of Ymir ~ Nine Titans ~ Eldian Empire ~ Eldians - Omg, if some or most of above are ‘correct’, imagine watching AOT with Titan Eldians, essentially eating Human Eldians from the start 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ - Marley has Seven Titans, so Im assuming the Founding Titan (originally with Reiss) and Eren’s Shredded Titan (from Grisha) are the remaining two, which add to Nine Titans - So far I think we’ve seen Six out of Marley’s Seven Intelligent Titans (Female, Ymir’s, Armored, Colossal, Beast and quadruped) - Im not entirely sure if the name Fritz is linked to the Reiss family, cos’ of the Founding Titan’s memories, or they’re just one of the royal bloods - Our Lady Ymir was probably named after Founder Ymir - If Zeke obtain the Founding Titan powers, would he then have all the memories of the world and acquire the full power, since hes of royal blood? - Was Eren dreaming all of this from this ep, due to his connection to Grisha’s memories, or perhaps triggered from the story in the books? If all of questions will be answered, no need to tell me anything 😂 *deep breaths* I think I need therapy after this show 💜🙏🏻

Lynn #7

There are a lot more but to reveal them atm will be spoiler-y

A J Chandra

Good summary, you’ve definitely got a good enough understanding to understand everything coming. Just one clarification (not a spoiler, it’s never explained past this episode), is that Historia, Rod, Uri, etc. are really Fritz’s. When they decided to install a puppet King so they could rule from the shadows instead, they just made up the fake noble family Reiss name and lived under that. Then put the fake puppet dude as the “King” and just called him Fritz.

Kevin

"People love to see cruelty" the officer said while staring at the audience. Then, when he gets kicked off the wall and eaten by a titan, most of the audience celebrates. Jared did the exact same thing that he condemned the officer for. Isayama is brilliant.

Hippopi

Just realized I just posted my explanation right after yours lmao

You have an Army, yeah We got a Jinx(Brandon)

I'm sure plenty have explained by now here's my take on what this episode revealed, no spoilers, and hopefully it helps you guys understand what you saw Ok, so the episode tells us a woman named ymir was the first human to become a titan (a.k.a. the founding titan) After her death somehow her power was divided 9 ways which gave birth to the 9 intelligent titans who are humans that can titan shift (erens attack titan and reiners armored titan are 2 of the 9) so now it's known that originally only 9 intelligent titans existed after Ymir although in erens time there is less than nine since because eren holds two of nine powers, his father's attack titan and the founding titan grisha stole from the reiss family, and Eldians are the only people who can turn into titans which is why Marley was shown asking for eldians to become "marleyean warrirors* and vessels for each of the powers from the 9 Marley holds And lastly, this episode also explains why those weird religious cult people gave Ymir (the Ymir that joined the scouts) that name to claim she was a descendant of the founding titan Ymir. I hope I helped and thanks again for giving me laughter and joy on a daily basis guys

You have an Army, yeah We got a Jinx(Brandon)

I’ll try to explain the best i can with ⚠️NO SPOILERS So this episode is saying Ymir was part of a small empire called “Eldia” and she made a deal with the devil and obtained the power of the titans. She eventually split her power into 9 other titans, which then were called the nine titans. These 9 titans dominated and took over most countries with ease and oppressed them, one of these countries being Marley. Anyone who descends from the Eldians are considered “subjects of Ymir.” And if injected with spinal fluid, they turn into pure titans. So only eldians can turn into titans, which is why they are persecuted Basically eldian=subject of ymir King fritz felt bad about his countries crimes and decided to retreat to an island (paradis) and build walls and renounce fighting. He had the founding titan, and i guess is a descendant of the modern Reiss family. Marley sends eldian crimianls to paradis and turns them into titans just to get rid of them. The warrior program that they mentioned was to get eldians that live in marley and make them use the power of one of the 9 to retrieve the founding titan, however they tell the public the purpose is to get fossil fuels. Im 99% sure there are no spoilers in there hope that made sense

Emanuel 2

First time watcher here. Let me organize my thoughts: So Ymir Fritz was the first Titan. That is where the 9 titans came from. They ruled the world until the Marlyians obtained power over 7 of them. The ancestors of those titans are called Subjects of Ymir which is what Grisha, his family, and Eren’s civilization is. Annie, Ymir, Bertholtd, Reiner, all of them are all Subjects of Ymir. Grisha along with his fellow patriots vowed to exposed the truth (or at least their truth) of their ancestor Ymir. They believe that she helped civilization and wasn’t the devil that the Marlyians believes she was. Dina Frits is apart of the royal family. That’s because she is the direct family of Ymir Frits right? The Frits family. The Reises are descendants of them then? Or are they different because King Fritz was found to be fake. That part is a little confusing to me. But anyway she and Grisha married and they had Zeke. THAT WAS CRAZY INFORMATION. ZEKE AND EREN BEING HALF BROTHERS IS INSANE!! So anyway, the walls that Eren grew up in is where the subjects of Ymir fled to right? When King Fritz left and went to the island of Paradis. The subjects of Ymir who were left (Grisha and them) were taken under control of the Marlyians government. The Marlyians essentially let titans lose into Paradis (subjects of Ymir that they injected) and that’s how this battle between titans and humanity where Eren is, happened? I guess? Continuing on, Grisha and Dina wanted to turn Zeke over to the government so that he’d be a ‘warrior’ for them and get the information the patriots needed to take back Eldia. But he told on his parents. That’s why they were injected. Grisha was saved by The Owl who is an intelligent Titan. I wonder what’s gonna happen with that. I was thinking the same as Jared. If Grisha ate the owl somehow after he turned into a pure Titan. Eren has all those memories from his dad. That’s how he saw that DINA ATE KARLA. Wait and he knows about his aunt Fay now too. Man that broke my heart. I knew she was gone but I wasn’t thinking it would’ve happened in a way like that. Then come to find out that man is just absolutely sick and killed her for his own entertainment. What makes it so much worse is that there’s actually people like that in reality. I can’t stand it. My thoughts are everywhere and I didn’t even organize them that well lol. Sooo much happened this episode. To think there’s a world like this outside of the walls. And now revealed, the walls we’re familiar with are on a whole island away from the rest of the civilization(s) out there. I can’t imagine what’s about to go down. I’m still thinking about the fact that Dina ate Karla. She said no matter what form she’s in, she’d come back to Grisha. And that’s crazy because what are the odds that she ended up finding Grisha’s family and killing his wife. Like what kinda full circle is this. It’s crazyyy. I feel really bad for Grisha and Dina. Grisha’s been though so much. And I also can’t wait to see what went on with Zeke’s life after his parents were taken for their punishment. He was made a warrior for the Marlyians obviously (or at least that’s what I’m assuming) and this civilization is where he’s trying to bring Eren back to? I wonder why he hates Grisha so much and why he says Eren was brainwashed. He said it as if it was a proven thing. But if he grew up under the Marlyians, who knows what’s the actual truth. It’s HIS truth. He could just be going off what information they’ve fed him. For all we know, both sides could be completely wrong.

Kia

This episode is crazy, but what always gets me is seeing that all the pure titans of Grisha's friends, are seen in season 1 *a lot* including the "Santa" looking one that was gonna eat Armin in Episode 5 but ended up eating Eren. When they're in their Restorationist meetings, you can see them all there too. Their dream was a free Eldia. Seeing all these titans hit a lot different when rewatching season One. (The one titan that ate that evil Marley Sargent, was killed by Mikasa in that scene in season 1 where the Survey Cops took out the titans to refill their gas tanks and Sasha missed, so Mikasa dealt the final blow) If you don't recall, here's a clip of that incredible scene https://youtu.be/JQlegKCxLxU?si=qXvlHuiISz3PkVJQ RIP to the patriots.

Elle Firespray

About to start the reaction, and the thumbnail picture says everything lol I’ll never forget watching this one for the first time. Wild ride getting here!

Ethan Pfeiffer

so much information they had to take breaks to note stuff down every 5s lmaoo

bort

So hopefully I am not telling you anything that hasn't been revealed so far, but the Ymir that we know wasn't named Ymir since at her birth. Remember when she was found by that religious group, they gave her a new name "Ymir". The Ymir with the long hair and such that is being shown to you guys here is from 1820 years ago. Scout Ymir was only turned into a titan 60ish years ago. I'm not saying they're not in any way related, but they do seem pretty different.

Winifred

Speaking of puzzle pieces, guys, finding out the true lore/plot of this show, I like to say to new fans that after Season 1, you know 3% of the whole picture After Season 2, it's 10% After Season 3, it's 30% And after it all....you'll just have to wait and see!

Shoto IcyHot (Slussh)

nah good theory honestly

Concepts94

titan reveal in season 4 kinda a spoiler. this is all explained in a few episodes actually

Concepts94

i dont think eldians are even a real race. eldians and marlyeans both come from the motherland. they look no different. the only difference is the ability to transform

Concepts94

did we watch the same reaction? they understood maybe 30% of what was happening. which is fine lol

Concepts94

Dina said no matter what form she took she would find Grisha. She found his home.

Angieshroom

Mutch love from germany to you guys :D Like you said We are all people and we all want peace. from hate comes only more hate its like a cirlce, the only way against hate is through love!

RaffixD 96

help cant even deny iwas excited to see him die-

Gatha Naranath

they left the room for the R&B reveal

Concepts94

Dam what an great episode, love your reactions as always.

RaffixD 96

they arent even really a different race. the only real difference is the ability to transform

Concepts94

Not sure if anyone has said this before, but when the Marley Sargent said "people like to see violence" he actually looks at the audience directly while saying that and ironically, he is right because as he's getting eaten, 99% of viewers would be rejoicing at his death. So when Jared said "I was so happy to see him die", you just proved his point.

Jay

I'm not sure how true this may be, but would it be possible that the faces the pure titans make is the last face they made or emotion they felt? This would slightly explain while so many of them have different expressions since Dina was smiling while being injected, thus smiling as a titan. And Grishas fellow patriots (who we've all seen before throughout the series as titans) all have other emotions on their faces as titans that could have been their last expression before transformation. But I could be reaching.

Jay

9 titans 1. Colossal 2. Armoured 3. Attack (you’ve watched next ep by now) 4. Founding titan 5. Beast 6. Female 7. Scout Ymir titan (unnamed so far) 8. “Barrel titan helping zeke” (unnamed so far) 9. Unknown (titan revealed in season 4)

Sean Carroll

The "Subjects of Ymir" are not just the "9 titans". Subjects of ymir are Eldians. The people of Ymir basically. A different race than Marley and probably rest of the world. Marley needed Eldians. To train as warriors and inherit each of these 9 titans. So like how Reiner is a warrior. Him and the rest like Annie, Bertholdt, Zeke and Marcel etc. Trained to become warriors and each of them inherited 1 titan each to serve the Marley government in war and stuff

Gatha Naranath

It's eerily relevant, huh? Sad...

Romba_7

This show is actually similar to what's happening in Israel and Palestine right now

Sulmika

yeah you guys definitely need a few rewatches and a lot of comments from all of us to help you because you both struggled a lot this episode (which is understandable)

Sean Carroll

what they meant was the actual basement was nothing special, they overthought what the location would look like etc. They were floored with what the information revealed in the basement (photograph, world outside the walls etc) entailed

Sean Carroll

"THEY'RE BROTHERS..." "BROTHERS? THATT'S HIS SON!" "I'M TALKING ABOUT EREN AND ZEKE" "YES...THAT'S ERENS BROTHER" "EREN'S BROTHER" "THEY'RE STEP-BROTHERS" "HALF BROTHERS" "Half or step!?" "THEY HAVE THE SAME DAD" "BUT THEY GOT DIFFERENT MOTHERS" "THAT'S A HALF BROTHER NO?" "That's a half brother yeah...ain't no step that's a half" Bro was so shocked he forgot the premise of what a half brother means

Gatha Naranath

half brothers, not step brothers

Sean Carroll

i think the opposite, they struggled very much in my opinion to piece the information together, obviously that is understandable to a certain extent but this was very difficult for them compared to what I expected of them

Sean Carroll

You guys missed something important, i'll try to clarify it for you ! During the episode, you had a map just in front of you when grisha's father was explaining the whole history , where you can see a continent and an island in the right side called paradise, and if you look closely, you will also see the tree walls drawn in that island ( where eren and all the others are born and know nothing about their world ) king fritz fled during the great titan war to paradise, and built 3 walls with titans inside ( and we learned that titans are inside the walls in the end of season 1 ) and some of the eldians stayed behind in the continent under marley's control ( the enternement zone ) that serve them as vessels since they are eldians to make them warriors controled by the marley government ! ' sorry my english is pretty bad since it's my third language '

selma bougzir

Concepts94

You gotta love how they do a lore drop in this episode that has more information than all the previous episodes combined.

Jay

GOOD, GOOD SHIT YALL

silly goose

I hope that your comment got picked by the moderator since it will help them a lot !

selma bougzir

You guys were on fire in this, way better than I did the first time watching. Great job bros I love this reaction, the info dump is mindblowing 🤯🤯 can’t wait until tomorrow!!

IQLou

Man I love this damn show

Rahma

Its not a big misconception, there is just a small nuance that makes the statement slightly incorrect... but to avoid spoilers it is the best way to go about it, to say that the subject of Ymir are the Eldians... this is the info we can give this far.

Randy Flash

Dina :( :( :(

Sorea

All Eldians are subjects of Ymir and subjects of Ymir are seperated from Marlyians by islands. A handful of Eldians are on Marly, but are chosen to become Marlyian warriors BY Marlyians because only subjects of Ymir can become titans.

l♡velyday

How did they got so many minute things right, but not the term warrior or the three walls on Paradis on the map (this one they kinda realised near the end) haha. Not complaining, just funny. Great reaction, especially to the Zeke reveal and the Dina titan reveal.

Hinade

one of my favorite reaction vids of aot u guys have released. the dissecting, telling your thoughts, explaining different theories was all perfect. 10/10. also, it was funny to watch u guys going gasp after gasp after learning surprising information that was revealed in this episode 😂

gdnsx

Revisionist history Internment camps Ethnic cleansing Generational trauma 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 I feel like I’m watching the news Eren and Zeke are half brothers which may explain why they are the only Titans I’ve noticed that have elf like ears. That’s the only thing I can easily digest from this episode.

Cheryl Lambert

Here are a few things from this episode to explain/that you may have missed: 1. There are multiple perspectives on Ymir and Eldia's origins: Marleyans - who believe Ymir made a deal with the devil (which is why the Marleyan people call Eldians devils) to obtain the Power of the Titans. ///She is called the Founder because she was the very first titan; the royal family inherits the founding titan because they are descended from Ymir./// Restorationists - who believe Ymir was a god who cultivated the continent and helped to advance their civilisation. You've drawn connections to Nazi Germany already. The Marleyans could be spreading propaganda. Or perhaps the Restorationists choose to believe that Ymir and their ancestors weren't evil for the sake of their dignity and pride. Or perhaps they're both wrong, and its impossible to know the truth. Perhaps both sides created a story that aligned with their agendas. In the next episode, Eren Kruger says one of my favourite quotes in the show that will illustrate this idea of unclear truth better. 2. In (Scout) Ymir's backstory, we saw that she was a nameless, homeless child who was taken to pose as this godhead named Ymir. The last scene we saw of her with Reiner and Bertholdt, she said "It was fun being a goddess." Aside from their names, they share no other similarities. They aren't related or connected in anyway other than the fact that they were both Eldians. 3. Fritz is the true royal bloodline. The Reiss family (Rod, Uri, Frieda, Historia etc..) are also Fritzs. However, they loaned their true name to a fake king basically to avoid danger from anyone who might attack the royal family to steal the founding titan - like Grisha, who figured them out anyway. The King ENDED the Great Titan War by fleeing to Paradis, and he basically warned everyone outside the walls that they shouldn't attack the island or else the titans in the walls will kill everyone. But - as was learned in S3 - this was never the king's intention. If a member of the royal family inherits the founding titan, they are subject to the first king's vow renouncing war -> hence why Grisha stole the power. Because it is useless with the royal family. 4. Eldians and Subjects of Ymir are the same thing. Basically. All people descended from Ymir are both her subjects and part of the Eldian Race who can turn into titans if given titan spinal fluid. Ymir produced 9 special titans, but during the Great Titan War, Marley stole 7 of them. Out of the special titans we've seen, only Reiner, Bertholdt, and Zeke refer to themselves as warriors (and they are all from Marley). Becoming a vessel for one of the 9 titans basically just means inheriting a special titan. The Founding Titan, Female Titan, Armoured Titan, Colossal Titan, Beast Titan, Eren's Titan, Ymir's Titan, and that crawling titan with Zeke makes up 8 of the 9 titans -> only Eren's Titan and the Founding Titan were never possessed by Marley. 5. In case you didn't notice, but many of the Restorationists who interacted with Grisha were the titans that attacked Trost. The beared titan who ate Eren was amongst Grisha's allies, as well as the 4m titan who ate Mina. 6. "Not as a child of royal blood... Not as the hope of restoring Eldia... But as Zeke my son, had I ever thought of him that way?" Grisha is asking whether or not he had ever viewed his son as his son rather than Eldia's salvation. Instead of a vehicle to his ambitions, had Grisha ever seen Zeke as just his child.

Relaxtakenote

Fun fact all the Eldians they turned and pushed off the wall here are titans you see in the first season

Lauren Crawford

Bruh I read ahead cause I had to know but I'm so glad it was animated especially as well as it was. (I know some people don't vibe with the later animation but I didn't mind it) I just did the same thing with solo leveling but I need those action sequences animated cause my brain just kinda goes 👁👄👁 when reading them in the manhwas

Lauren Crawford

One thing I'll say (because it was only implied and you have to put the pieces together.) The Reiss family is in fact the true Fritz family. It's not a matter of who the real royal family is. When they went into hiding they put a fake Fritz on the throne and changed their name to Reiss.

Eugene Conner

Great reaction guys, hope your brains are melted yet with all the info 😆 Little side note to clarify something I haven't seen in the comments yet. I don't know if it's going to be useful or not, but I saw you confused about some titans looking similar to other titans, so here goes: When a titan is passed down, its physical features somewhat change a bit depending on who is its current vessel, even though it is still the same titan with the same powers. If you remember the scene with Grisha in the underground chapel with the Reiss family, his titan had a hairy torso, while Eren's doesn't, but it's the same titan passed down from one to the other. Same thing about Armin: he has the Colossal titan now, but this doesn't mean his titan form will be identical to Berthold's, etc. You're doing great by the way, I remember being SO LOST when watching those episodes for the first time, I didn't understand half of what you guys understood 😆 Hope you enjoyed this season's finale!!

Cartoonosaurus

It was around this time I decided to stop reading the manga so I could just experience it all animated. I realized how crazy this show was going to get.

Eugene Conner

It’s wild that they barely reacted to how Fay was actually murdered 😂

Mareeca Dolbey

I was legit lookin at the titan that ate Erin when he saved armin 😭 I was hoping they would notice

husso

Non-spoiler Clarifications for J&J: - Eren, Grisha, and everyone we’ve known for 3 seasons are Eldians, the race that can turn into Titans. At the beginning, it says that during the Great Titan War, the Eldian King fled to the island of Paradis and erected three walls. These are the large 3 circular walls we know. - Historia is a true royal. If you remember in S3P1, we learned that the king on the throne, “King Fritz” was just a puppet. The “Reiss” family is just a made up name so the real Fritz’s (Historia, Rod, Uri, Frieda, etc.) could pretend to be just normal councilmen, while really ruling from the shadows. - The “it’s interesting” line from the Marleyan guy at the end was his own personal reason for being a piece of shit. He then gives the reason that all Eldians are treated horribly, because they are people that can turn into titans, and the rest of the world has PTSD related to titans because Titans (Eldia) ruled the continent for almost 2000 years. - The scene of Marleyan soldiers recruiting Eldians to be “vessels for the 9 titans” is crucial. I don’t think you guys ever caught on that the 9 titans are the intelligent titans we know (armored, collosul, female, beast, etc.). Which obviously means that Annie, Reiner, and Bert are all Eldians fighting as Marleyan Warriors (remember how much they said warrior in S2 and S3? And Reiners conflict with whether he’s a Soldier or a Warrior). - That picture of the large titans in the walls when they were being built? We’ve already seen them. Remember the Titan inside the wall that was a big focus at the end of S1 and in discussions in early S2?

Kevin

That's not true, all of your equations are false. Subjects of Ymir are not automatically Eldians and vice versa.

Arian65

keep moving forward

Async[Dave]

You guys did so well dissecting this episode! I'm sure the headache was immense. You did way better than I did on the first watch. Great work, guys!

CamilleR

So there appears to be some confusion when it comes to “subjects of Ymir”. This name is synonymous with the term “Eldians”. Grisha and his family, along with everyone in the interment zone wearing armbands are subjects of Ymir/Eldians and are descendants of not only Ymir but the Nine titans (the original Titan shifters). With this blood within them, they are able to transform into titans via injection. Since the first king of Eldia relocated inside the three walls we know of, it can also be deduced that everyone within the walls are also subjects of Ymir/of the Eldian race. This is why the Marleyans segregate them and call them “Devil Bloods”, it’s due to the fact that subjects of Ymir/eldians like Grisha can turn into these scary monsters. It is assumed Marleyans and other people who are not Eldian cannot turn into titans, even when injected since they do not share the same ancestry with Ymir (first Titan who got power from Devil) and the nine OG Titan shifters. On that same note, the Marley government selects a few Eldians to become warriors who inherit one of the Nine titans (or at least the ones currently under Marley command) like RnB or Zeke. I cannot further elaborate on this point but yea basically Eldian/subjects of Ymir = able to be pure Titan or warrior (intelligent Titan) I hope this helps a little bit in understanding this concept more! Y’all are doing great for a first watch! This is my first comment and as a long time fan of your content I just wanted to say that I look forward to and love your reaction videos every day and keep up the amazing work! Have a good one and enjoy this amazing God-send of a show!! 😆👍

Aaron Hamilton

I haven't watched the reaction yet, but I saw some people here claiming in regard to the reaction that Subjects of Ymir=Eldians. WOAAAAAAH, big misconception and spread of misinformation here, careful! That is just not true

Arian65

Some stuff for clarification: Subjects of Ymir = a race of people who are descendants of Ymir Fritz (have Ymir's blood in them to some extent) that are able to transform and inherit the power of the titans. Eldians = descendants of the Eldian Empire, it is said in this episode that it is an empire formed by The Nine Titans. Considering it is an empire based on The Nine Titans/Ymir Fritz, the terms are used almost synonymously in the show although they are slightly different. A detail you guys seemed to have missed about Dina, right before turning into a titan said to Grisha: 'No matter what form I take, I promise I'll come and find you.' which is explaning why she keeps showing up near Eren as he looks very similar to Grisha who she is still looking for in the slumber of being a Pure Titan. It is also interesting to see how it seems Grisha raised Eren differently to Zeke as he learned that forcing his ideals on his child is not something you should do and let Eren make his decision of fighting for freedom before deciding to show him the basement (as you remember from episode 1, Grisha only told Eren about showing him the basement after Eren had shown his interest in joining the scouts). I can keep going about these details all day because of how meticulously this show has been written but I fear these comments will turn into an endless scroll LOL. EDIT: corrected my definition of Subjects of Ymir and Eldians.

Mr. Potato

I don't know if some of y'all didn't catch it but some of those restorationist might seem familiar titans throughout the series. For example the last 3-4 meter titan that ate the Marley soldier and the Santa Titan that ate Eren in season 1.

Kenken

Guys can you check your direct messages please 🥲

Shelly

He meant had he ever thought of Zeke as just his son? Looking back to when he was born he immediately thought of what Zeke could do for them as a child of their revolution and a child of Royal blood. It was immediately expectations, placed on Zeke. Grisha was realizing he has never just seen him as his son and realized it was enough.

Hey, Jared and Jordan. I beg you to consider fully reading this quite lengthy text. I am writing this comment because I want to share with you my extensively contemplated thoughts and suggest something that would, in my opinion, definitely improve your reaction and enjoyment of AoT, as well as the reception and enjoyment of certain viewers to your reaction. Many content creators who watch anime, including you guys, are watching or have already watched AoT and uploaded their reactions to YouTube. I am talking about tens of thousands of reactions to AoT, and pretty much all of them are to the sub, only four I could count, to the dub.  Only one of the four actually watched all of it in dub. Now this phenomenon has many different and nuanced reasons for being as it is, but the faulty and hasty implication from said phenomenon, that the dub is just bad, which is absolutely not the case, is unequivocally not one of them. However, I won't expand on that in this comment, as it would be too much text to read for now. Many people, including me, actually think the dub gives an overall better experience watching AoT than the sub.  May it be for different reasons, we all appreciate some objective truths that the dub offers. Such as the dub taking much more time to produce, or to put it better, having more people working on it as well as having invested more time into it than the sub, but also having a higher budget for the production. This comes with the sound quality, effects on voices, and sound engineering being considerably better. The voice actors for certain characters and the voice acting itself are more subjective and up for debate, which I won't be touching on. But people like me who absolutely love the dub of Attack on Titan for the subjective preference of the voice acting and the objectively better production value feel disenfranchised because of the very lack of reactions to the dub of AoT that we crave but never get. I know this community mostly prefers the sub, though they probably haven't even watched the dub, but I really hope you guys can give us a bit more reactions to scenes of the dub of AoT. Honestly, that one time you reacted to Erwin's speech in dub, absolutely made my week. What I would absolutely love is for you to also film and upload your reactions to the rewatch of the dub, preferably right after you've watched the episode in Japanese; if that's too much, only for certain really good episodes; if that's also too much to ask for, only for certain really good scenes. Or what you could do instead, if you don't want to do any of that, is, when you've finished an episode and sometimes go back and rewatch some scenes while you're still filming the reaction, you could instead rewatch those certain scenes in dub. All I'm asking is for at least a little bit of content you could give us few, but passionate, dub-enjoyers of AoT. Also, one more thing, which is maybe too much to ask for and even rude to suggest, but you have rewatched all the episodes in the dub, so you know how you feel about the dub, so if you feel confident enough in its qualities, consider the following request:  Because you have never watched an Attack on Titan episode in dub for the first time (only after watching the Japanese dub), you haven't felt the real experience of watching an Attack on Titan episode in the dub; you've only ever watched it for the second time. I personally think it would be fairly ignorant to watch the entire series of Attack on Titan, believing the sub to be more enjoyable without having seen a single episode for the first time in dub. Watching the English dub of an AoT episode which you never watched could be an entirely different experience. That is why I would make the controversial and bold suggestion, to maybe watch at least one AoT episode for the first time, in dub. If you were to do that, then it should, of course, be an episode that is generally regarded as an episode of Attack on Titan that is superb and popular, in particular in the English dub, or one regarded as by the majority who have watched both versions to be better than the sub version; one example of that, that you already watched, would be the 17th episode of Season 3, titled "Perfect Game", where Erwin charges the Beast Titan with the remaining recruits, an episode usually preferred in dub, especially because of Erwin's iconic speech. Other episodes like these that you haven't watched, where the dub is preferable, and for which you could choose to be the first episode of AoT that you'll watch in dub for the first time, are certainly episode 66, or the very last episode of AoT, or episode 57, titled "That Day". This one is especially suitable for following through with the suggestion with, because many of the characters, and subsequently voices, will be completely new ones, therefore  making a sudden switch from the sub to the dub is not inconvenient at all, but you unfortunately already watched the episode just now and I'm way too late with my comment; therefore, I can only hope for you to film your reaction to the dub of "That Day" henceforth because it is just that remarkable in the dub. Consequently, the best pick now would be episode 66. I sincerely hope you consider following through with at least one of my suggestions. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and have a good day. Best regards, Arian

Psst subjects of ymir=eldians 🤣 that's where I'm currently at. My husband looked at me sideways cause I just screamed it at my phone

The info bomb reactions were peak. I turned into a pretzel when you paused for dialogue study right before the Zeke bomb (Jeager bomb?). The puzzle sleuthing was great. Loved the reaction!! Watching the episode a bunch of times really helps. Looking forward to tomorrow!!

Sofomo

dina who was a titan really found grisha before all of us… 🥲 and the thing she said before she became a titan how no matter what form she will always find him… it’s crazy she kinda did but with her killing his new baby momma

carmen 🫧

nah yall freaking out more bout zeke then when reiner told eren that they were titans 💀

carmen 🫧

The speech the officer gives about cruelty being more interesting was spoken to both Grisha and us as the audience (he's looking directly into camera, addressing the viewers as well). If everything was sunshine and roses, we wouldn't be as engaged as we are and binging episode after episode. We're being accused of watching to witness the cruelty of the world these characters were born into and learn how it shapes all of them, because that's what's 'interesting'.

Sofomo

I called it, infinite pausing 😂

Aj Makaiwi

glad they finally started lol

FYI, The whole Ymir thing is very inspired from Norse Mythology. Ymir was a "primordial giant"(Killed by Odin). And the being Ymir is largely considered the building blocks of the universe. When Odin killed Ymir, he made the lakes and seas from Ymir's blood; they used his flesh to form the Earth; and his bones and teeth became rocks and bones. At this same time, it seems, the nine realms were also created (9 titans). There are alot more that can be connected to norse mythology but this is what I remember atm. (Feel free to delete this if I accidently spoiled anything)

Anton

For clarity, brothers, what Grisha is articulating just before the halfway point is that he's viewed Zeke as a means to an end (restoring Eldia), rather than possibly ever seeing him as just 'his son'.

Romba_7

Make sure them thinking caps are on fellas

'This is a generational thing being passed down to children'. I love this observation and it's something I am looking forward to hearing your continued thoughts on :) I enjoy exploration of themes a lot.

I think the time has come for you to take a closer look at the to be continued screen. It's been right under your nose the whole time. 😂

Maka

Eldian is a race term that is synonymous to Subjects of Ymir. ALL Eldians whether you are pure or biracial, can turn into titans. Marleyans or other races cannot due to them being a different race.

MangoJuice

Let’s goooooooo

IQLou

In season 2, when YMIR (Historia’s friend) was taken in by a cult as a child, the cult members needed someone to worship to… thus naming her “YMIR”, the one who started the history of the titans. Now we don’t even know what Ymir’s name was before she joined the cult.. they used her as someone to worship.

MangoJuice

nah cuz i did the same.. prob watched this episode like so many times cuz all this information was so overwhelming and came out of nowhere so it’s understandable if yall need to go back a lot of times j&j 🫢🤪🥲
