AOT 3x10 Reaction!! *OTAKU GOLD*

Comments

In the manga, Levi actually lifts Historia up and throws her, if I remember right, when demanding her to become the queen. Knowing that context, her wanting to punch him is much more understandable

Salla

I mean it was put there intentionally so I don’t see what not. It gives the viewer something to theorize about (what I did when I seen it) and we get to watch them (Jared and Jordan) formulate their own ideas as well as be hype for the next arc. But that’s my opinion, I know everyone is one way or another

Katelynn Gonzales

Am I the only one that thinks they should not watch the ending credits of Episode 47 (3x12)? At least not now. Ultimately upto them but what do yall think?

Senor Confused

Not Spoiling anything, but 3x16 and 3x17 will be the best episode's you've seen so far. Can't wait to see you guys react to it!

Yo stxrmzy Games

Oh my god 1 more episode...and one OVA left. Until they step into the amazing arc....i'm so excited i might cry

Gatha Naranath

Tbh its probably the one german name that is the most accurately pronounced

Bjarne

I forgot how amazing this episode is! Levi finding out his last name and that Kenny is his uncle. Historia becoming queen and punching Levi. LEVI SMILING AND LAUGHING? Ugh so good. On a side note, based off of this anime if yall ever want your body right just become a titan because why is everyone so fit? My goodness monkey man!

Angieshroom

The angst you're starting to feel when you see the last season slowly approaching is the very reason why I waited months before watching it, I just couldn't bring myself to end this show, it's too good. x)

Jlmvj

In the manga levi beats the shit out of historia because she refused to be queen at first, then mikasa told her to hit him once she crowned as a queen

manar alshatti

part 2 is peak fiction, bb season 4 is fantastic in its second half but part 2 is higher by a mile

Sean Carroll

no Isayamas favourite episode is Keith's chapter/episode, not Kenny's

Sean Carroll

yalls development towards christa/historia is what ive been waiting for lol she went from being a small background character (though she had a greater purpose) to being a prominent figure within the storyline. all characters had great development, but historias was most unexpected. anyways great reaction, ive been watching since episode two and have been patiently waiting for yalls development throughout the series, cannot wait until you finish the season, and i hope yall are strapped in because it only gets crazier from here lol

deja

I would say Levi putting his hands on Historia in the manga (grabbing fistfuls of her shirt and lifting her up) is within his character. He’s human, imperfect, fierce to a fault, accustomed to violence, socially awkward, etc. (Levi also physically abused Eren during his S1 military hearing). Whether it was time constraints or an agreement to soften his character for the wider audience anime draws, I am unsure. I do appreciate the manga scene even though I disagree with his choice. Without writing a long explanation, the scene plays a huge role in Historia’s agency and character development. It also shows how the new Levi Squad learns he’s fallible and some question his leadership worthiness. Without the manga scene, we don’t get the Levi Squad’s growth in their respect for Levi, despite his shortcomings, either.

antionette7

Ah you guys thought Mikasa meant Rod when she told Historia to punch that runt after you become the queen but she was actually talking about Levi 😂 Well its because Levi kind of ordered Historia to take the huge role of the queen without thinking about what she actually wants right after she was out of that underground hell.. Actually in this scene in the manga Levi was much more ruthless to Historia.. Even strangled her while ordering her to fulfill that role..but in the anime Isayama changed it because it was obviously against Levi's character to do such a thing. Hence why Mikasa's suggestion for punching Levi makes much more sense from the manga reader's perspective

its_aliza

The best way to combat withdrawal symptoms after finishing the entire series is to rewatch it again with reactors 😉😂

De La Sco 89

Lmao forgetting about the beast titan for those few episodes is so relatable 😂😂. When I first saw this episode, I was like WTF I forget about his ass lol.

Mrs. C

Just to be very clear, sorry if its a dumb qn, so eps 1-12 is a ‘Part 1’ of Season 3, and ‘Part 2’ starts with ep 13? P1 and P2 are considered arcs then? Is there a P3 in this season?

Lynn #7

he also knew they all had awakenings

Concepts94

I figured you’d catch the Levi knife holding since you’re so good at the small details haha. This comment section is pretty spoiler-free if you wanted to brave scrolling down to a very, very long comment I made explaining the Uri / Kenny relationship shown in this episode if you haven’t seen it. It ties into your “Uri showed him compassion when he showed violence” line quite well.

Kevin

None of the scouts hate levi. Did you watch with your eyes closed?

A J Chandra

*first time watcher* 😱 that ending! 😮‍💨 hold that for a minute.. lets start with Kenny first.. 1. This ep felt more like a tribute to Kenny, in a way, showing Kenny’s POV. And that helped put flashbacks we saw in prev ep into perspective, which I appreciated. His dream of wanting that power, partly to see if that power will make him view the world the way Uri saw it, is how I took it. Uri showed him compassion when Kenny showed violence. But why did Uri do that, I dont know. Rod was ready to kill Kenny if Uri didnt stop him though. Im intrigued to know what Uri/ Frieda or the King’s will is, essentially. It comes back to why Kenny was disappointed when Rod revealed that the full power of the Founding Titan is only realised if passed down to the royal family bloodline. That says a lot, and more qns on what exactly Eren wields in that sense. 2. His relationship with Levi- despite how ‘uncompassionate’ he viewed himself as, him finding his sister and saving Levi from death, tells me otherwise. I get why he didnt reveal their last name. Oh and I saw how Levi holds his knife 🫵. Sidetrack to Levi- this man went through s**t 😔. Mum died, almost starved to death, Kenny left, his friends & squad members killed, then Kenny reveals his last name and their relationship, before he dies. No words. Kenny passing that box to Levi gives me this impression that, that was his final parting ‘gift’. Kenny’s realisation at the end and him asking Levi “And what are you?”, is something. Like, what are you a slave to then- I would love to know what Levi would have answered..I wrote too much already but Im actually sad we lost him, RIP Kenny. 3. Queen Historia- heartwarming, even Flegel was cheering for her lol. But. That. Punch. 😂😂 that made me laugh, I had to watch it a few times. How they egged her on, she psyching herself up 😂 and their shocked faces when Levi smiled. Levi. Smiled. Now THAT was a beautiful, rare sight. Loved it. Why did he turn sideways though? He saw it coming huh 😂? 4. That. Ending. Was. Not. What. I. Expected. Felt like so long ago and then we got hit with a scene of a defeated R. B pulling him out and the ripped David Hasselhoff telling them that saving Annie comes later, retrieve Coordinate a priority. What?! And is that Shiganshina?! Again, I have thoughts about this man. But it brought me rightt back to all my other unanswered qns from before 🤦‍♀️ 😮‍💨 To keep my heart rate down, I need to go back and rewatch Levi’s smile. Maybe just take a screenshot and stare 😂 till next ep 💜🙏🏻

Lynn #7

Psst* she punched him because if you remember Mikasa suggested it after Levi and Erwin told Historia she was gonna be queen (which I think Mikasa suggested it because she still held a tiny grudge after some of her own interactions with Levi) right after Historia defied her father and chose what she wanted for herself. She got frustrated with the order because she's spent her life doing what everyone wants of her and being manipulated. So while i don't think she was actually mad at Levi still after the coronation, let's be honest, she's the only person who's going to get away with punching him without consequences. But also that was the cutest punch ever and Levi smiling and thanking them warms my cold dead heart every time.

Lauren Crawford

In my head "Ackermann" will forever sound like Ah-Kahr-Mahn 😂 I love hearing how the Japanese VAs pronounce all them German names lol

Elle Firespray

Kenny wanting a better life for himself as a compassionate human being, not driven by violence... That was his grand dream, that's why he wanted to become the founding Titan. Mikasa told Historia (TWICE) last episode, that she can punch the "runt" once she's queen, after Levi told her she needed to fulfill a new rol as queen (And Connie and Jean being super kind telling Levi that was not fair to her). Notice everyone's face when Historia is going at it.. everyone freaking out and Mikasa smiling super satisfied 😆 God I love this group so much. Levi smiling and saying thank you after the emotional shock that must have been discovering Kenny was his uncle and then losing him... It's just a very beautiful moment. Oh and the times they showed flashbacks of Rod hugging a maid, that was Historia's mom. ("You're the only one who understands me") And lastly, a quick fun fact: Kenny's VA (Zakuhiro Yamaji) married Hange's VA (Romi Park) in 2020, while working on Attack on Titan 😊✨💕

Elle Firespray

I can appreciate the Erwin looking down on the world hypothesis but let's be honest.. the man would never smoke 🤣 he's the definition of straight laced

Lauren Crawford

The whole of the scouts kinda hates Levi (he's super rude and makes them clean), Mikasa specially hates Levi because of the beating that he gave Eren. When Mikasa found out that Historia was going to be Queen her first thought was "if you are Queen, you'll be able to hit Levi" lol and everyone was like... yeah! do it for us too! lol. Everyone respects Levi for what he can do, but also kinda hates him for the way he does it.

MelanieRS

Sannes and other interior MP's killed Erwin's dad and that final conversation with Levi and Kenny is exactly what happened. Kenny died after giving the syringe to Levi like it was shown in the anime, there is nothing more or less. Levi would not turn Kenny into a titan because then there will be another titan running around killing humans and Levi would just end up killing Kenny as a titan because of this reason. Also, Kenny has no idea what the first king's motives were, and he was too caught up with his way of being at his point in life (slit hundreds of MPs throats) to change on his own accord without needing something drastic (Uri's power)

IQLou

First time watcher here. Wow. Never thought I’d ever understand Kenny. I don’t get why he was just killing people just to kill because he believed he was more powerful but his reason behind wanting the Titan power, I get. He really did want to see more than violence. To be compassionate and see the world with that compassion. Him believing it or not, he does have some type of compassion in him tho. He took in Levi. Yeah that’s his sister’s son and he probably did it for that reason only but he could’ve left Levi malnourished sitting by his mother’s lifeless body. He fed him, raised him (in his own….way) lol and when he saw that Levi knew how to survive, he left him. I wonder why he was trying to kill Levi tho. I guess it’s really just because of his work for the royal family. Levi’s squad was protecting Eren and his job was to capture Eren. I wouldn’t expect to WANT him alive but I feel like he probably could’ve changed and started seeing the world the way he’s always wanted WITHOUT the Titan power. I wonder if Levi let him lose as a pure Titan. Cause he could have but idk. I’m feeling like he did but I can’t gauge if that’s really something Levi would do. I think it’s not which is why I think he did lol. I’m thinking into this too much lmao, If Kenny is dead, I hope he was able to tell Levi some information they’ve needed before he died though. Knowing the first king’s motive for not wanting to save humanity would be a big deal. Anyways, enough about him, QUEEN HISTORIA👑👑 I’m proud of her. Humanity had a win with her being the true ruler. The last scene was so wholesome too. A refreshing and lighthearted moment between the scouts. It was a good day for them. And we got a Levi smile!!! A small one but still a smile! I love Levi. He’s really such a mysterious character, I always love learning more about his past, tragic as it is, but still. WHO IS THE BEAST TITAN?? That’s the question. I was tripping lol cuz I was like ‘IS THAT ERWIN’S DAD?’ Then my brain was spiraling but I had to stop myself. Cuz Kenny said he killed him and why would he want to do all this anyway. Lol the only reason I thought that was cuz of the glasses. I was over analyzing the close up of him cleaning them. My mind be throwing out some wild theories y’all, bare with me. I just can’t wait to find out who that man is and why (and how) he’s as powerful as he is.

Kia

I hope they did hahaha

How2Pot

aaaa can’t believe we’ve come this far already !!! finally, here comes my favorite season of AOT (s3 part 2, when it aired it was divided in 2 parts). you’re about to witness pure GREATNESS. also fun fact, the way levi holds his blades while killing titans is the way he learned to hold his knife while he was a kid. in his ovas when he first held the blades, the other scouts told him that’s not the way you hold them, but he didn’t care haha. so excited for what’s coming, amazing reactions as always guys 🫶

Lina

Oh guys.... get ready......

Dwob

i just know yall will understand everything better when you watch the dub on your own, you always come back with good discussions and understanding. i'm so hype for the second half of this season 🔥 Levi's little giggle gives me life.

fox

the parallels between Erwin and Levi's first meeting vs Kenny and Uris's first meeting. Levi being held down by Mike and Erwin kneeling to talk to Levi, Kenny's leg being hurt and Uri bowing down. Isayama you King

Muh-la-lay

couldnt agree more

Muh-la-lay

I don't want to overhype you guys or anything, but after you watch OVA 8, you're about to start watching one of the most LEGENDARY season of TV you'll ever watch in your entire life. I would rank Season 3 Part 2 similarly to Season 4 of Breaking Bad, just a masterpiece. Take your time breaking down what you see in these episodes because it's a LOT. Shit's about to get SO fucking real

Jay

Did they realize that Kenny was Levi's uncle? 😅

Maka

you’re not prepared for what’s to come! excited to watch it unfold w you guys :))

ellen avenger

Reminder: The last OVA is after S3E12! OVA 8 - Lost Girls: Lost in a Cruel World. This OVA is very, very different from the others, but remember it is a spin-off story, and was not written directly by Isayama, same as the Levi/Annie OVA’s. Edit: Watching this OVA as the 3rd episode in your next set of 3 actually sets you guys up perfectly to watch several sets of 3 episodes in S3P2 that fans like their reactors to watch together, so it’s perfect 👌

Kevin

Mikasa didn’t randomly suggest the punch, it’s a callback to when she says she’d make him pay after he beat up Erin in the courtroom, as well as their constant bickering (before the female Titan fight in the forest, when Levi calls her a “gloomy brat” in S3E1, etc.

Kevin

Quick clarifications: 1-When Levi learned Kenny's last name, matching Mikasa's, he confirmed with her that at some point she felt an awakening moment like Kenny, he deduced he was part of that same bloodline since he experienced something like this as well. 2- Does Kenny wants the power just out of curiosity? Yes, but his perspective is deeper than that, all he knew was violence as the strongest human out there, he killed so many people because he was that powerful. He then saw someone more powerful than him bow down to him, seeking peace because of some sort of vision linked to the power he posessed. Mind blowing stuff. Kenny was already seeking for power but for once that ultimate power could possibly make him a better human being all together. So its not just curiosity, its also a deep introspection, Kenny aspires to be a better person. 3-Why dose Historia wants to hit Levi? Mikasa had asked her in the last episode I think to hit Levi when she becomes queen lol, she still holds grudges since that day when Levi kicked the ish out of Eren during his trial, and back then she said she would make him pay, so she manipulated Historia for that. There would be no consequences after all, she is the queen. But that was just a wholesome moment

Randy Flash

Hi! Thank you for your great reactions like always!! I couldn't wait to comment on this episode. When Isayama was asked "Which episode do you like the best?", he always answers this Kenny's back story part. Even when the show ended, he answered the same thing. And I think I know why. This is only my thought, but the reason why Kenny wanted Riess's power, is because he adored and respected Uri so much even he had no idea for his own emotions. So he wanted to see the world as Uri did. Oh forgot it where, but in some scene, Kenny heard Uri calling his name instead of Levi that actually did. The reason why Historia wanted to punch Levi is a bit complicated and a bit odd in the anime. The reason is, in the manga, when Levi told Historia to be the queen, she refused it so badly.(It was even before she was taken by the Kenny squad if I'm remembering it right.) And that time, Levi forced her to say yes, and Reeves(Flegel's father) watching that said to Historia to give him a punch after she becomes the queen. However, the scene was cut out in the anime version, but the animators wanted to include the punch I guess and let Mikasa say that line. Oh and the reason why Levi was shocked when he heard who Kenny was to Levi, is because he had a slight hope that Kenny might of been his father. This is what I'm assuming. And maybe Kenny also guessed it, so he said "Just her brother". But to think of Levi's feelings, I'm glad that the 104th was there to accompany him when he had a time to think about Kenny's death. That's all for now! I'm going to comment tomorrow too! lol Have fun and take care :)

hiro ame

The Ackerman being warriors means they existed to protect the king, like guard dogs. Kenny's dream was to have a chance to see the world the way Uri did, through compassion instead of violence. It's as if the founding titan could give him a new perspective of the world to see something that he was uncapable to see for himself, but when Rod said that only people with royal blod could acess that power, Kenny realized that even if he ate Eren, he would never get to see what Uri saw, since he did not have royal blood. The sceene of Historia punching Levi didn't make sence because the animation skipped and changed some parts of the manga. Levi was the one who didn't wanna let her take part in the battle against titan Rod, but the reason for the punch began before she got kidnaped. It's too many years since I've read it, so I didn't remember the details, but I found the following explanation on reddit that sums it up. "In the manga Levi tells Historia that she has to be the queen before she was kidnapped. At that point in the story she refused and Levi bullied her into accepting it. Later Reeves suggests for her to punch him as a payback. In the anime, since they moved the Levi scene to after they saved her and she already knew what she wanted to do, they couldn't have her refuse and Levi bully her, so as a substitute for that they just have Mikasa randomly suggest the punch, which for me doesn't make any sense."

Patty

Also it was a little strange Kenny was visiting his mother and chose to partially raised him. So he kinda suspected there was some relation with his mother I guess.

Zaak Dann

Beautiful analysis, Kevin! Well said!💜

antionette7

I love this Levi-focused ep. Here are some of my fave takeaways… 1) Levi, dealt repeated abandonment trauma, first by his mother, then the stranger who raised him (Kenny), then with Isabelle and Furlan’s deaths, then with the death of his first squad, FINALLY learns he has actual blood family in Kenny (Levi’s uncle). And in one incredibly heartbreaking moment, Kenny leaves him twice (saying he wasn’t cut out to be a father figure and then dies). The emotional whiplash! 2) Levi smirks at his new squad because in them he sees an opportunity for a new found family. He offers them thanks because they have eased a modicum of his grief and current emotional turmoil. 3) Also, Levi is one of the most feeling characters in all AOT. I would never label him desensitized. He does express his emotions uniquely which often leads watchers to label him unfeeling. Pay close attention to his eyes, words, and actions surrounding emotionally charged scenes. Think back to how Levi responded to the deaths of his first squad (pausing on the tree during an important chase to stare down at Petra, taking Petra’s scout badge for a remembrance). Think back to the slicing rampage with the Titan who killed Isabelle and Furlan. Erwin, as shown earlier in his discussion with Levi regarding learning titans were humans, is an example of a character where his mission and drive have created some desensitization. Think back to how each man responded to the news (Levi horrified, Erwin a gleeful smile because it was a step toward understanding despite human sacrifice). 4) Also, Reiner, Bertholdt, and Beast are in abandoned/destroyed Shinganshina duking it out Titan-style over whether or not to first form a rescue mission for Annie. Beast won, so Coordinate capture is the mission. Thanks for brightening our Saturday!💜

antionette7

The reason Levi said "my name seems to be Ackerman too" is because he has experienced his own "awakening" moments in the past i.e. sudden surges of strength. He told Mikasa this in S3E6. Hence, he suspected that he might be an Ackerman too but he had no definite proof. Only when Kenny tells him that they are both Ackermans does he know for certain.

Sidarth

Watch the credits in 3x12 don't forget

BBQburger

MY MAN **** HAS ARRIVED AHHHH

carmen 🫧

Again, please watch the credit sequence in 3x12... it's a highlight for reaction vids. Those of us who watched it at the time (who hadn't read the manga) had NO idea what was going on for 6 months. It's spoiler-y in hindsight, but I feel it's a valuable part of the AOT watch experience.

Sofomo

one of the best arcs in all of fiction incoming

Marlon

Just to clear up confusion with wording. Levi did not know his last name was Ackermann, but when he learned Kenny's last name was Ackermann you can tell by his wording that he started to suspect it (but didn't know how Kenny was related to him... esp considering his mother worked in a brothel). Kenny says "we Ackermans" to Levi in this episode which confirms what his last name is, and Levi replies with "My last name seems to be Ackermann, too", confirming it in his mind. Then he finds out how Kenny is related (father or uncle etc) in his next question.

Sofomo

Levi didn't know his last name all along, he just figured it out now because of everything that has happened these last few episodes. Like the conversation about the "awakening power" than he, Mikasa and Kenny have all experienced. If Mikasa and Kenny had it, and they're Ackermans, Levi came to the conclusion that he might be as well. Also, at the end when he's dying Kenny says the words "we Ackermans" which implies that he is including Levi in that "we".

Caramelzip5

im like 99% sure reiner and the beast had an argument over whether they should retrieve annie first, or get the coordinate(eren) and they decided to fight over it, and who ever wins they go with their plan, and the beast won. And they're fighting in what i believe is shinganshina which is why it looks like a city inside the walls, but also destroyed and no one is there

Emanuel 2

i think its a neccessaty for u guys to watch the end credit scene of ep12

kasra

It took me legitimately 20+ rewatches, and hearing many insightful thoughts from different reactors before I began to truly grasp the depth and complexity of this episode. I’d like to expand on and clarify Kenny’s “everyone was a slave to something, even him (Uri)” line. Once Kenny became involved with the Reiss family, he thought, incorrectly, that Uri was an ideal person because he attained so much power and thus had the luxury to be compassionate. Kenny had always loathed himself and his inability to be compassionate, but he saw a path to redemption through becoming the Founding Titan himself, as he believed he’d finally be free from his innate violence, and instead be compassionate. In this framework, violence and compassion are two opposite ends of a spectrum, and for the longest time Kenny thought he needed to work towards that other end of the spectrum and reach compassion, his “grand dream,” in order to be a good person. However, at the end of his life, Kenny realized that Uri was not the ideal person he had thought him to be. Kenny had assumed that going fully to the other end of the spectrum would free him, but in fact, he’d simply become a slave to compassion, just as Uri was. And considering how Uri’s “compassionate” plan to create paradise (as he frames it) has been so terrible, this is effectively the same as being a slave to violence. This is why when Kenny lists things people are slaves to, he includes things both traditionally considered “bad” (drinking, power) and “good” (dreams, children), as they all have the potential to be abused if someone is a slave to them. So ultimately, Isayama proposes the idea that one can be a slave to both good and bad things. This also answers Uri’s question, “What made us friends?” The answer is that they are both slaves, just to opposite ends of the violence-compassion spectrum, and are thus much more similar and equal to each other than they seem on the surface level. Edit: if only I could make this shorter so it could possibly be included in the intro! I love this episode so much.

Kevin

One good thing about the show (in my personal opinion) is that you can re watch it like 2-3 times and it stills amazing!!

Costosou

kicking my feet cus of levi smiling

bort

Kenny said to levi "WE Ackerman's" Thats when Levi knew for sure he was also an Ackerman

Jens B

Now that this arc is over, you can watch the music video Red Swan. (The opening season 3 song) by Yoshiki feat. Hyde..... you'll ove the music video. And doesn't cut off awful like the show makes it do

Slayer91340

I love how the way Kenny found Levi (sitting down against a wall) was how Kenny was positioned (against a tree) when he passed.

Kelli

Bruh it literally let's you know that shit goes wrong. That's a massive spoiler lmao

Val

I think so

Costosou

I agree, and I think that self-deprecation is why he ultimately decides to give Levi the titan serum instead of using it on himself. I think that also contributes to why he left Levi in the underground, he doesn't like himself and didn't want to see himself reflected in Levi.

Jackson Seales

about kenny’s motive, this is how i see it: the reason kenny wants to try it so bad, the reason he wants that power, i think the answer is the way he spoke about himself. that self-deprecation, the fact he considers himself a piece of shit, the desire to become like who wields that power, compassionate, the desire to see the world in a better way. This is his motive. He doesn’t like who he is, a murderer, he doesn’t like the fact the world is like a jungle where only the strongest survives. Would obtaining that power give him interior peace and make him feel different about everything? I think this is what he was after. Pretty much what he wanted was “inner peace”.

KariaP

Watch the ending of ep 12. You won't get the spoilers anyway and it's interesting to theorize about

Anton

Let's goooo!!! Y'all are almost finished with the prologue of aot 🔥 shit is about to get REAL!! Also, idk if other patreons have mentioned it, but episode 12 has a "special" end credit scene. I personally feel that y'all should skip it. It's a massive spoiler of something you'll see in the next 4 or 5 episodes anyway. And since you guys are practically binging the show I don't see the point in spoiling yourselves. ESPECIALLY since y'all love to over-analyze the details of this show 😂 episode 12 is a season finale so the animators were cruel enough to drop a preview of part 2 and leave us with a cliffhanger until the next season came out a year later 😭

Val

Crazy how allmost we all are thinking the same hahahah!!!

Costosou

This dropped the exact second I sat down with my dinner. Perfection. 👌

Kevin

I don't think you understand what you're in for . . . not sure anything could prepare you.

Matthew Pershing

I've been looking forward to the next two weeks since you guys started

Goatchis

Bro, the show hasn't even started yet.
