Omg, they're on S4 EP 25!!! I'm trying to catch up lol!! Y'all always have thee best dialogues and concepts!

I believe that we are all special. But there is no one person that's more special than another. Millions of s-cells race for life and only one cell out of millions can make it (in your case, two) The fact that we exist is proof that we are all special.

Ericken Ellerbee

First time watcher here. The profound quotes just comes easy with 2J, don’t they. “The ego death in necessary in order to be come truly special.” Woah. And that’s EXACTLY what happened. From the moment Eren was discovered to be the Titan to now, he’s been expected to save humanity. He’s been the only chance. Ofc that would feed his ego. Make him feel special. And he is but like this episode has shown and Jared has stated so perfectly, the ego must die before you become special. It’s been a struggle for Eren to find his strength and control with his Titan abilities. He knows that but even in things went wrong, he NEVER EVER gave up. This was the first time I feel like he was truly done. He had no faith whatsoever especially after finding out everything with his dad. But in the moment he looked at those kids, acknowledged his weaknesses, and killed his ego, that faith was restored. Like he said, he may not be what they hoped for, but he’s humanity’s ace. He’s gonna fight for them with everything he’s got. I think he’s gained his strength and control, and I’m meaning mental strength and control. I hope he isn’t so hard on himself anymore. This was the first time I saw him feeling good about himself as a Titan that can and WILL accomplish the mission. My boy was stretching and all. He was ready because he knew he COULD do it. That doubt wasn’t there anymore. Eren has really grown up on us. Also that scene of Super Eren running over Erwin!!!! POWERFUL. Perhaps my favorite scene from the show yet. Like you guys discussed, it symbolizes so much. It’s just powerful. I love the way this episode unfolded. A lot of important moments happened for the characters this episode. Most definitely for Historia and Eren. Speaking of Historia. My girl is a true leader. She’s gonna be a great queen. The people seeing this, seeing that she’s just not on the throne because of her name. She’s here to fight for them. She’s gonna be amazing as the ruler. Historia has truly had beautiful character development . She’s becoming one of my favorite characters. I just love how she’s changed and how strong she’s gotten. From the quiet, shy girl to a strong soldier. I’ve loved watching her grow and will love watching her continue to grow. The writing of the characters, their stories, the story itself, everything, is phenomenal. Hajime Isayama is an A1 writer and story teller. I can only image crafting a world like this. That’s why I have such a love for writing. I decided I wanted to be writer in the 6th grade. I wanted to create books, movies, all of it. Graduated school with a BA in creative writing, minored in film studies to study scripts and film. Over the years, the passion for it dulled. Now I don’t know what I want to do but when I see shows like this, or read a phenomenal book, I’m reminded why I love writing so much. I may not pursue it as a career path but i have so much respect for writers, screenwriters, etc. Words are a beautiful thing because you can craft entire worlds like this with them. It’s really a gift and Hajime Isayama’s work in AOT is top tier.

Y’all really making me fall in love with this part of season 3. Great reaction guys!! Another BANGER

IQLou

Perhaps the wildest theory so far

Caramelzip5

the eyes, chico, they never lie

Historia out here already thinking like the Queen she is! "The people won't follow me if IIjust take the throne. I have to show them that I earned it and that I am worthy of their trust and fellowship!" I know she didn't said it like this but it's the meaning behind her actions and I love it

Dofftee

yes I agree.. watch it once or twice without any scenes

its_aliza

ERWIN ERWIN ERWIN! I have no words for how amazing this guy is! A true leader. He isn't special like the Ackermanns or the Titan shifters but still he is really strong and extremely intelligent. I love how you both played that scene of super Eren running above him again and again. I just remembered I saw someone else reacting to this ep once and they said if Erwin was gonna become such a GOAT after losing his arm he should've lost it a long time ago XD Also no one made Historia the queen.. instead she EARNED her place as one ♡ Another great blondie

its_aliza

I'm so excited, y'all have no idea how much better this season is about to get.

Simon Printe

For real, one of the funniest moments in AoT in my opinion when Eren realises he just indirectly insulted Levi and he goes, "Ah Shit!" While Levi gives him the death stare behind him😂

Nandy_AS

notice how when eren was talking to armin atop the wall and saying how the kids from the city below remind him of him and his friends the day wall maria fell, it flashes back to him and mikasa as kids trying to lift rubble from carla's body to free her. then in present time, it pans to mikasa single handedly lifting a barrel of gunpowder like its nothing. oh how far they've come. also, erwin the goat not even flinching as eren's titan charges full speed above him was so awesome. i seriously cant get enough of erwin.

silly goose

one of Hajime Isayama’s personal favourite too 😄

A J Chandra

Many jokes and insinuations in the series about Levi being a SHORT person. Mikasa calls him "that runt" a lot haha, Kenny "Have you grown yet?, Petra talking to Eren "The Real Captain Levi Is Unexpectedly Short,". So many characters have mentioned it. I love Eren's reactions when he yelled "Tiny old man!" And Levi gave him that death stare 😂😂☠️

Elle Firespray

I was just thinking this very things 😂

Elle Firespray

Nice write-up! That was in fact Sannes in your 4c, good eye. 👌

Kevin

*first time watcher* Woww…alright here I go: 1. Operation Kill: understanding a Titan’s typical instinct, Erwin chose not to evac the citizens and Hange elaborates. A gamble, but oddly convincing, backed by our elite squad. Seeing how the Garrison tried to conduct a drill and the citizens’ restless reactions draws parallel to RL. Cannons fired but ineffective. Once the scouts took over, that calm control, experience and precision was art. Blowing off its hands first with loaded barrels using ODM gear-impressive. That call for Titan Eren to feed that disgusting thing with a gift bag of more loaded barrels-remarkable. That command for the scouts to destroy chunks of flesh raining down and seeing that in action-genius. The finishing blow by Historia-💪🏻🫡. One of the best operations I’ve seen. 2. Eren- So far, I was inclined to view him as the main character throughout, even though I speak of others more often lol. But this ep highlighted this other side of him; that angry, impatient and arrogant boy we first saw, accepting his comrades as stronger individuals, more than himself even. The nostalgic moment he and Armin had, seeing those kids and essentially determined to save them from being as tramatized as they were when the first attack happened. And how he literally beats himself up, hoping to get rid of his weak old self. Beautiful to see how mature these characters have become. Jared’s, “the ego death is necessary in order to become special”- perfectly said 👏 3. Historia- The way she fearlessly stood her ground to participate in the operation, her skillful finishing blow, her ability to fight the demons from her past in addition to possibly gaining some memories of her father, Uri, (Alma-that her mother?) and Frieda, then declaring herself Queen, is very fulfilling to see. Proud of her and deserving of the title 👸 4. We have Kenny, fatally wounded, only survivor. Flashbacks of a) one who looks like Uri bowing, b) malnourished younger Levi probably when they first met, c) this man with others in white robes (could that be Sannes?), d) Caven, and e) a very interesting shot of young Levi(?) holding a knife to a man while Kenny walks away 🤔. Anndddd a syringe. There HAD to be a twist right..🤦‍♀️ Yeah, so that..that..disgusting, scraped-off or whats left of the Titan was hard to watch 😣 (and for one who has trypophobia), but credit to whoever drew that thing 😅 Onward we go 💜🙏🏻

Tomorrow's one of my fav episodes in the series. Super excited

Big T

I love that you guys noticed and focused in on that shot of Titan Eren running over Erwin. Absolutely one of my favorite AOT moments, that one scene right there. It’s so powerful!

Kel

I am personally on team skip

aphrodiziac03

"Kenny was the Rod Reiss titan" 💀🤣 the confusion lol The transition was just showing that Kenny managed to survive the collapse of the chapel. He must likely got burned from the hot steam the rod reiss titan released while he was transforming

Kenken

I think you guys have totally missed the "Levi is short and gets made fun of a lot" plot. This includes Eren's reaction after calling Rod a Tiny old man, but also I think you guys didn't put it together that Mikasa was telling Historia that she could hit Levi (the runt) in the face when she becomes queen. Also Kenny asking him if he had "grown up yet" It's been a running joke.

MelanieRS

Okay I can appreciate yall appreciating the shot of Erens titan running through the smoke over Erwin and how hard that hits. And I agree with you. But them toes get me every time 🙃 and the fact that yall just had it paused on it and had this beautifully analytical discussion, without mentioning the toes... hella impressive ngl

Lauren Crawford

Absolutely awesome analysis of Erin punching himself! I’ve seen a billion reactions to AoT, but that gave me a better understanding and appreciation of that scene. Also, a long time ago I mentioned the 3x12 mid-credits scene and gave the pros/cons of watching it. I’m getting the sense the cross-section of viewers here are mostly in favor of watching it, despite the spoilery nature of it. So assuming you do watch it, my one piece of advice is to watch it once through for the hype, and don’t pause and analyze every fast scene. This way you still get the hype, and minimize the overthinking / spoiling yourself.

Kevin

If you guys were confused at why Eren looked scared after he said "Tiny old man", basically he realised he was kinda insulting Levi as well (who was riding next to him) because he's a shorty and old as well (In his 30s)

Jay

Just a tip for J&J, but when you get to episode 12 you should watch the episode fully to the end and give us your thoughts on the outro for the first time. Most people watch intros only, but since you'll be finishing season 3 part 1 with episode 12, I think it's best you guys watch the entire episode to the end. I think lots of other people will agree 🙃

Jay

Thank you for the reaction! So I went back and rewatched your first AOT episode reaction, and it was so fun and interesting to see you guys all the way back then! How far have the characters gotten and how far did you two come from the start of this journey as well… you should go back and rewatch your first episode reaction when you have time or once you are done with the series. It is truly amusing.

mikasa: eren keep your hands busy eren: *starts beating the shit out of himself* mikasa: surprised pikachu face

bort

sigh not me missing the armored titan 😴

carmen 🫧

those memories historia got when she killed her father game me chills. 🥶 prob explains why the father never wanted to be a titan cuz he didn’t want to be taken over by the titans power 😳

carmen 🫧

All hail Queen Historia 👑 The episode that you need to watch the credit roll for is 3x12 (ep 49), though I recommend you watch it at the end of another episode before that, just to familiarize yourself with it (and it's a very pretty credit roll!)

Sofomo

this titan prob the most revolting one 🤢

bort

i love yall but sometimes your brains go to a whole other dimension and i'm like whaaat haha the last scene takes place after Historia kills papa and Levi and other scouts have gone back to the church, and have found a somewhat alive Kenny there still.

fox

Hey! Levi is not lacking height. It’s just gravity weighing my man down because of his giant 🏀‘S 😉

Cheryl Lambert

not eren being afraid after saying “tiny old man” cuz levi was right there 💀

So you're halfway through AOT, and living through something we all wish we could go back to for the first time. Some advice: As you know, AOT is a show with deep character development. In these episodes you should put effort into seeing the world through the eyes of each character and trying to understand them. In my opinion one of the greatest aspects of AOT is that the characters are all understandable and at the same time very different from one another. Understanding what each person is "dealing with" and what they are fighting for in each situation, is necessary for seasons 3 and 4.
