eren saying he never should had happened and he never should be what he is now really resonated with historia and i believe it's what helped her mind break through her father's manipulation. it flashed back to historia's mother rejecting historia's very existence and that's when she started to question what she was about to really do. then we see the echos of ymir's advice and encouragement to be her own person, and historia's free will truly takes the reigns there. imagine how hard it must have been for her to reject the injection and in doing so essentially reject her father. especially after so long of having no biological family to love and be a part of, this was huge of historia. and her line "im the worst girl who ever lived" was so cool, i love historia, man.

I don't mind if you decide to watch it or not, but if you're going to watch it, I offer you to NOT PAUSE IT and NOT WATCHING IT THE SECOND TIME! I felt so, so sorry for Eren in this episode. He had always been so fierce, so passionate, and to see the fight just go out of him like that was heartbreaking. He had been through a hell of a lot in his life: killed the robbers who killed Mikasa’s parents, saw his mother eaten alive by a titan and his hometown reduced to rubble, unknowingly befriended the very people responsible for these and then was betrayed by them, got turned into a titan and was since then always viewed either as a monster or humanity’s hope (and nothing in between). But each of these incidents just served to strengthen his resolve - he got more and more determined with every curve ball that was thrown at him. That was his most defining trait. Yet, the revelations in that cavern were too much even for him. He found out he had eaten his own father. How do you fight back against that? He couldn’t, and so, for the first time ever, we saw Eren giving up. That was hard to take.

And its called the ‘Founding Titan’, which Frieda inherited? Given that Eren is not Reiss’ bloodline, he cant sorta bring out/ use its full power-is this incorrect? Spinal fluid, in itself, sounds sick to me 😖. Alot more questions I have, this is INSANE. 3. Underground chapel- Part 2: is that Kenny’s ‘dream’? To eat Eren and become a true king?! 😨 Is it just him being him or something to do with revenge? Im getting the feeling that Kenny might have been close to Rod’s younger brother (Uri), who had this power before Frieda. Its just the way he got defensive at the mention of Uri. I dont know what that means but why didnt he take the power from Uri or even Frieda if thats what he wanted 🤷‍♀️? Whatever it is, this man threw a curveball and switched the plan lol. Ugh but slicing Eren’s forehead 😖🤕 4. Underground chapel- Part 3: I. Was. Shooked. By. What. Historia. Did. 😱 She started off all for Rod, calling it ‘her duty’, even defending Rod when Kenny stepped in. But as she hesitated, you could see her reflecting, reasoning and questioning what shes really doing. Then BAM! She literally threw Rod over her shoulder! Atta girl👏! And even smacked Eren lol! I took what she said as no more Miss Sweet and Caring y’all, this is the real me now 💪🏻. Eren- okay its devastating already how much he (we) found out in such a short time. It cant get any more real what hes expressing 😣😔. Reminding us as well and showing all whom we’ve lost.. Ohh definitely not what I expected, the twist! Music throughout this episode was 🔥🔥! I just wanna see how this plays out. A LOT of information in these past few episodes, yes Im exhausted as well..but J&J still cracked me up 😂💜🙏🏻

Hi! Amazing reaction as always! Thank you! About "Freida's memory is still living": This is only my opinion, but Freida has been eaten already, so her "body" is 100% dead. Which means, she has no more future to live. So I think it is safe to say "she is dead". Also, Rod only said Freida's "memory" is living, not Freida herself. And the power that Historia throw her dad was only from the training! She is also a soldier that passed the cadet trainings. Thank you as always, I can't wait for tomorrow! Rod isn’t interested in power in the way you see it. He has a very strong belief in that his family should be the only ones to possess the founding titan. He’s basically furious and offended that a non reiss person owns the titan when it’s wasted on them. Yes he would wipe the memories of everyone but that’s only due to the power of the founding titan that controls the individual due to the first kings will. Uri, Frieda and their father basically have none of their own agency once they took the power

Rod and uri couldn’t do anything while their father possessed the founding titan. Their father could control all the titans if he chose to no longer attack humanity but he always refused when rod and uri begged him. Rod wasn’t lying when he said the first reiss king wanted them to be ruled in fear of the titans. There is certainly more to this entire chapel storyline but you’ll have to wait for those answers haha

First time watcher. First of all the OSTs in this episode were TOP TIER. When Historia knocked the syringe away!? Imma have to find that song. Anyways, I hope my girl Hange recovers well. Everybody was putting in that work. I loved Sasha and Armin assisting with Sasha’s arrows and Armin with the smoke signals. I feel like I’m starting to sound like a broken record but gosh does my heart break for Eren. He really has the fate of humanity in him. Him wanting to die to save everyone; that’s on par for him but that scene brought tears to my eyes. Historia is really growing. I love her as a character because I feel like she hid herself and now she’s coming into her own. But while she’s not pretending to be Christa anymore, she’s not abandoning the values she had as Christa you know. And I mean that pans out because you can take on a new name but the person is still the same even if it’s deep down. She’s just taking her experience and trauma and applying those values to how she moves when it comes to those things (if that makes sense). She could have easily said okay I’ll do it, but once she realized her father’s manipulation, she was not for it. I don’t blame her at all for feeling the way she feels about humanity. Honestly, humanity has never been good to her from the moment she was born. In reality, I’ve felt that way as well. To the point I’ll cry at night. Ofc it’s not to the extreme of this lol. But it’s like humanity is so bad and horrible thinks happen all that you start to hate it because how can this be humanity uk. And I think especially in todays time, a lot of people feel that way. Anyways, bringing it back to the show. I understand R&B, Annie, Ymir. They all have missions and reasons that may justify their actions. Rod has a mission of his own as well that heat feel is just and right. But I reallyyy don’t like the idea of him having Titan powers. I see it as, his motives may have been just at first but now he seems to want him and his family to have all the power and be in control of everything. Not in a good way but just for a power trip. To me, his situation is majorly different than the others who we’ve found are titans. I don’t see this going well AT ALL.

i think the reason rod didnt just inject historia himself is he ran the risk of being eaten too so he needed some distance. but then when historia talks to eren he senses some doubt so walks up to make sure she does it herself still because if he forces it on her maybe she resents him after which wouldnt be good for him and being able to control civilization.

My two cents on Historia saying that she's humanity's foe (or however she said it) I think just had to do with finally getting that her dad was being manipulative in that moment and putting together how many people don't live geniune lives in this world and she's basically saying that if that is how humanity is, then maybe we don't deserve to be saved. She's saying, if Humanity is awful... then maybe side with the titans. Granted, I feel like she would rather humanity wasn't awful. I don't think she is actually on the side of the titans at all.

"Why?" is a good question to ask, however I think the main question in AOT throughout all the seasons is the one Erwin asked back in the season 1 - "Who is the enemy?". Because "Why?" might be answered once you know all the facts, however after knowing the answer to "Why?" it's going to be harder and harder to say who is right and who is wrong

Haha, just to explain Historia’s confusing dialogue toward the very end: Historia’s whole life has basically been pretending to be someone else (the nice, angelic girl). When this got stripped away at the end of S2, she kinda just shuts down, and Eren even remarks she barely even talks in S3. This episode she realizes that she can’t do either of those things anymore. If she does what “should” be right for humanity, eating Erin and getting rid of the Titans, she wouldn’t be proud of it. If she takes no action, then that’s effectively giving control to her father, who would inject her and lead down the same path. For the first time, she says “screw both choices, I’m doing an action that I choose myself and that I’m proud of,” aka saving Erin. Her whole dialogue about being “humanity’s enemy” and the “worst girl who ever lived” is basically her getting very carried away exclaiming that she’s making her own choices now, and they’re the small choices that are good in her eyes, not any grand save-humanity ideals being forced on her.

Seeing Eren completely break down is so heartbreaking to see. Can’t believe he’s only 15 years old yet has experienced so much trauma and death in such a short amount of time. For a quick timeline: -Grisha leaves for the interior after promising Eren to show him the basement. -Titans attack, breaching Shinganshina and Wall Rose, causing mass evacuation. -Shortly after that (within a couple days), Rod and his family are attacked by Grisha, who steals Frieda's Titan Powers (the Royal Scream, which can command Titans and alter humanities memories.) -Immediately following this, Grisha finds Eren, entrusts him with the key, injects him and is eaten. -Possibly at the same time (or very close), Rod Reiss goes to claim Christa, resulting in her mother's murder and her going under an alias.

I really appreciate the effort you guys are putting into understanding each scene and each line. I think it will make the payoff of each reveal more rewarding later on. I've seen some of the comments asking how you missed x y or z, but I think that is just how this show works. I for sure didn't catch on to some of the things you guys have noticed on my first watch, so I think you're doing a great job with the information the show has provided so far. It's a process, and part of the experience. Ep12 has an important post credits scene, despite showing the "to be continued" card. I'd suggest watching the ending song for this episode. Also, Ep13 should be when the next opening song begins, and while it's an absolute BANGER imo, the video is full of spoilers for the arc. Finally, this is my first comment so I wanted to say I really am grateful for these videos and I'm loving how much you guys seem to appreciate the story so far. I look forward to the notification every day. <3

Once again we see another situation where an interaction between parent and child shapes the child's actions. Rod is easily able to convince Historia to become a titan, and although she eventually decides not to I find it interesting how we start to see a pattern of parents heavily influencing their children (whether intentional or not). Erwin lives to prove his father right, Annie lives to get back to her father, and now we learn about how Grisha and Rod are trying to shape their childrens futures. I don't think it is a main theme of AOT, but I certainly think that there is a message about how easily parents can shape a child for better or for worse. It may be an extension of Isayama's own life experiences, and even if it isn't it resonates with a lot of people.

the basic timeline is this: 1. Grisha left home on the day Reiner and Bertholdt attacked 2. Grisha went to the Royal chapel and killed the Reiss family 3. Grisha heard of the attack in Shiganshina and returned to find Eren and Mikasa 4. One night after Grisha returned he made Eren a titan and Eren ate Grisha taking the founding titans power as well as Grishas currently unnamed titan. 5. A few days later Rod went to the farm to pick up Historia in order to basically do what he is doing now, however his plan didnt work when Kenny jumped in and killed the mother and almost killed Historia.
