I guess I'm done watching for the day. Vimeo is fucked for me

Jonah Bertorelli

Full screen isn't working either. black screen with a big "like" or "share" in the middle or something like that

Jonah Bertorelli

Is vimeo fucking up for anyone else? mine keeps trying to play it in a tiny window in the corner, and not like picture in picture. it's just like a thumbnail in the top left corner, no matter how I reframe it or resize it. and it only fixes every once in a while when I refresh. but then it goes back to bullshit on the next video....

Jonah Bertorelli

One more for the list of people who had to witness their mothers die don’t forget about mikasa! She went through a lot in her youth to be honest

👏👏😂

Jordan cracked me up when he said "What's a pure titan? Just a dumb old thang" 🤣

It looks like you guys were reading into some things differently so just to help you out: Titian-shifters, intelligent titans, and titans/humans with powers, are all the same thing. "Powers" just refer to people's ability to turn into a titan, but of course they all have special traits. Simply, if a dumbass titan (or "pure" as they call it) eats a person who can transform into a titan, they revert back to a human and get their titan transforming abilities. Even more simply: You are what you eat. To add to this, it should be confirmed now that according to Hange: R&B, Annie, Ymir, whoever the beast titan is, and Eren, were all at one point a dumb titan, who then ate a titan shifter (it doesn't matter what form they were in). This was directly portrayed with Ymir's story/dialogue, when she was wandering as a pure titan for 60 years, then ate Marcel who is assumed to be a titan-shifter, then lived on as a human with the power. This should raise and answer a lot of other questions too.

Nate

You are absolutely right about that... my question would be: what is the root of this mental condition according to you?

Randy Flash

Hi y'all. This is a small thing but I thought I'd mention it anyway. What Reiner has psychologically is not comparable to any other character. While characters such as Annie may be Conflicted, or torn between will and duty, Reiner is suffering from a literal mental condition. I looked it up because i didn't want to be wrong, but Reiner's split between playing soldier and being a warrior is a product of having dissociative identity disorder. It really isn't the same as a character being hesistant to do their "titan duty"

thank you for the erwin/levi tidbits from the manga! i had never seen it before.

*first time watcher* 👀😵‍💫 Wow a lot of information..some things are connecting for me..ohh this just keeps getting better huh *rubbing hands* Okay, let’s start: 1. Historia’s past was upsetting. J&J said it best. Kenny- ruthless, but why? What role did he play in all this? Based on what Sannes said in previous ep, I can only assume Kenny/team was from/ working with the First Interior Squad 🤷‍♀️. Then Rod- “Special, royal blood runs through you, one and only person who can save all of humanity”? 🤔 2. Erwin- omg that image clicked 😱 Yeah, this man blames himself for his father’s death. I get why now, when he said “One day we’ll break it down. This wall hiding the truth will fall” at the end of S2. He made it his life’s mission to prove his father’s theory. His plan- rescue Historia and Eren, have Historia enthroned as Queen and forcing makeshift King to relinquish the crown, before retaking Wall Maria. I take that as, assuming Historia is willing to be crowned as Queen 🤷‍♀️. Even so, I doubt this would go well without a fight or even war, with more lives lost. Now comes the crazy theory and more questions: 3. With all that has happened and the information I have, I think Rod’s plan is to turn Historia into a ‘Pure’ Titan (assuming she isnt already an Intelligent Titan but cant remember), have her eat Eren to consume his power, and alter the memories of humanity so that the government can continue ruling, like nothing changed 🤷‍♀️. As CRAZY as it sounds, this is AOT right 😂 anything is possible. Now I based this off from Ymir’s story, Papa Erwin’s theory and Hange’s speculation. Of course I could be wayy off, because I still have questions, next point. 4. 5 years ago, just days after Wall Maria fell, Rod came to find Historia for the 1st time. Kenny asked Rod, “Did the fall of Wall Maria make you a little scared?”- did this imply something, like he had no choice? Erwin telling Hange before they got interrupted “..one curious incident stuck out”, referring to his investigation into the Reiss family- I hope this ‘incident’ will be revealed later but what crossed my mind was, something about Rod’s own family? Questions about Kenny, his identity and role in all this. When J&J talked about Eren and him being this Intelligent Titan, that brought me back to Eren’s memories of Grisha, injection, crying, key, basement 🤷‍♀️. And ALL the unanswered ones I had before including Marco, R&B, Annie, Ymir, David Hasselhoff 😂 aka the Beast, even King Fritz and those other men in that hall and Dimo’s son Flegel whom we saw briefly.. Yeah, Jordan’s right, I feel like a fried egg too 🤣 man, these 2 cracked me up throughout this episode 🤣🤣 gosh I laughed so hard..oh J&J.. thank you 💜💜 I do want to point out something I noticed from previous ep and this, which I found adorable and funny: each time Sasha says something with her superb hearing ability, Connie makes elephant ears 😂 it was too cute #ErwinForPrez Till tomorrow 🙏🏻💜

i really like that jared brought up that it seems to be a cycle of fathers treating their kids awful and then apologizing after the damage is done and has taken a toll on the kids. it's a very important theme in this story. generational trauma runs deep in these characters and the decisions they make as a result shape them going forward. on another note, i absolutely LOVE the trio of hange, erwin, and levi. yes, it takes a village, but without those three so much of the progress the scouts have managed to make would not be possible. hange is the scientist, she is all about information and learning new things. erwin is the brain, constantly steps ahead of everyone else and putting the info hange discovers to use. and then levi, who is the muscle who makes the impossible possible with his strength, speed, and heart.

silly goose

Your point on parental trauma is very interesting. Hold onto that and take it to the 4th quarter. Ps. The couple that tried to fly with a hot air balloon (does it ring a bell with Armin's parents trying to go outside the wall).

Senor Confused

Erwin for Prez indeed 😂 Thank you guys for the great reaction as always. I would like to fill in interesting details from the manga regarding our beloved characters (mainly Erwin, Levi, and Hange) that were not being adapted/animated into Season 2&3, but are important enough for more in depth understanding of these characters. No spoilers of course! This will be a long comment, so buckle up. In chronological order from end of Season 2 to beginning of Season 3: - Maybe it was not clear from the animation, but Mikasa got her ribs broken after being crushed by one of titans when trying to save Eren from Reiner. This is why Armin reacted strongly when Mikasa was out there cutting wood instead of resting (as per the first episode of Season 3). - After the Scouts successfully escaped Reiner and the titans, Erwin was on the verge of passing out due to loss of blood/pain on his arm. Imagine how he kept leading the Scout during that time through sheer willpower and adrenaline rush alone! - After Hange announced to Levi and the injured Erwin regarding the possibility that the titans were the residents of Ragako village, she had a flashback of her past experiments and “torture” of the pure titans and seemed to feel remorse over it/over the fact that she tortured humans instead of the “monsters”. Hange also asked the soldiers to tie Connie’s titan mom instead of staking her, in contrast to how roughly they treated the former captured titans. - Similarly, Levi immediately felt sickened over the fact that he killed fellow humans all these times instead of the “monsters”. Interestingly, Erwin was more excited with the fact that they’re moving closer towards the “truth”. Y’all can try to piece together why Erwin smiled “creepily” back then after knowing Erwin’s actual intention and backstory in this episode. - There are exchanges of snarky and playful remarks between Levi and Erwin that are also good to pay attention to, as these instances show how Levi and Erwin’s relationship are of equal standing, despite the rough starting point between both of them. I will share parts of their conversation that were not adapted from manga into anime: Levi to Erwin after Erwin smiling when finding out that the titans are human: Hey Erwin, the hell are you smiling about? E: Oh.. it’s nothing L: You’re gonna make me sick E: I’ve been told that since I was a child L: Is that the real reason you’re in the survey corps? E: Ease off, Levi. My arm was eaten. I’m physically and emotionally exhausted. Don’t you have some pity for me? L: You ARE pitiful. (Lol) Some conversations later: L: Your arm was eaten and you’re physically and emotionally exhausted. I felt bad for you, so I went ahead and made some decisions. That includes the new members of my squad. And this is the missing information left out from the anime of how the new Levi Squad came to be.

I wish i could pet erwin's eyebrows

In this reaction you guys joked about an aot college class, but funnily enough, this already technically happened. I have seen online a lot that UC Berkeley had an class studying aot, but as I went to research it to write this comment, I realized that it was student lead, so I'm not sure if it really counts. This is the class description on the UC Berkeley website "This course re-examines the famous Japanese animation Attack on Titan from four different areas, thereby challenging students to think both creatively and critically about the contemporary world. Through utilizing models and theories drawn from political science, philosophy, game theory, and leadership, the course aims to strengthen students’ intellectual understanding of Attack on Titan and their ability to apply the knowledge to real-life issues related to the distribution of power, domination, free will vs. determinism, the game of warfare, and strategic thinking. The methods of instruction include a combination of in-person lectures, class discussions, group projects, and an individual presentation due in the final week of the semester." The following is the comment I found the forum post about the class that lead me to believe that the class was student lead. "For context, UC Berkeley has a system called “decals” where students can teach a 1/2 unit course over whatever they want to - as long as a professor sponsors them. It’s totally student led and doesn’t count towards your GPA. We’ve had Drake, Kanye, Pokemon, Baking, and a bunch of other different courses held in the past."

Blaahh

Not Hange with the Armin level deductions.

Lauren Crawford

I don’t think so. I think you would have to eat an intelligent Titan to gain the ability to transform back and forth.

Cheryl Lambert

jared’s face at 22:20 when he realized 😭

Bianca 🎀

(PLEASE ONLY READ IF YOU WANT SOME CLARIFICATION) To explain the Royal blood in Historia, they have revealed that Historia is part of the Reiss family (previously believed to just be a regular noble family) however it turns out that the Reiss family are the REAL Royal Family and King Fritz (whom everyone believes to be the King) is just a stand-in/fake

Kenken

First time watched here. So much trauma in the characters’ lives. My heart breaks for all of them. Wow, learning Erwin’s backstory and Historia too. Kenny gotta go😭. I wonder what’s gonna happen with this plan to overthrow the government. Ofc it can’t go that smoothly. I’m rooting for my guy Erwin to prove his father’s theory tho. Also, you’re right, Bertholtd did allude to Eren not remembering things. But if Eren really ate someone in Titan form when would that have happened? I mean ofc they wouldn’t just show us that lol but still. Wait, so if someone’s injected and then they eat a human with the powers, that gives them the ability to transform back and forth. So would that mean that an intelligent Titan (humans who transform) would HAVE to eat someone? Is it not possible for them to go back to human form without eating a human with the powers? Because Ymir was a Titan for 60 years before she ate Marcel and returned to a human.

Kia

frrrr. i remember watching it and not understanding anything at all, and getting bored. these are actually realllyy good

Emanuel 2

shit is getting real.

Emanuel 2

To add to this I think the reason they added the parenthesis was probably due to some of the abnormal titans. They aren't smart per se but might show some form of intelligence (for example the Ymir follower and Connie's mom) however those titans don't seem to have the power to shift back into humans

Kenken

Yessss building a puzzle without knowing how many pieces there is or what the final picture is

Kenken

The best way I would describe the AOT experience, it is like the biggest puzzle ever, it is complicated but the journey is so exciting that every single piece you find makes it worth the patience you put into it. But it seems like the more pieces you find, the more the pieces left multiply lol... but that makes it even more exciting so you keep going. And then you finally get to the point where you finish the puzzle... BUT 🤣🤣 You quickly realize the whole time you were just assembling one single piece of a bigger puzzle 😂😂😂😂... that table you were working on, just a lil table on a bigger one with bigger puzzle parts, the difference is that u got bigger now and can see it all... u still have a puzzle to finish tho🤣🤣 so good luck

Randy Flash

Big brain Armin already explained the difference between an intelligent and a dumb titan... the dumb ones lack consciousness and eat people not for predatory reason, just instinctively... the intelligent ones are aware of everything and they can go back and forth from humans to titans to humans etc... this makes them intelligent, and their ability to go back and forth is the POWER itself. So everytime you see a human who can turn into a titan deliberately, that titan is considered intelligent. So far we have Eren, Annie, Berthold, Reiner and Ymir... lets called them titan shifters. Now if a dumb one eats one of these guys, they get back to human form and gain the titan shifting ability or power.

Randy Flash

These episodes a lot better than I remembered. Lot of information in these

Ibrahim

That just probably symbolises us in our graves after learning the truth about AOT's world lmao

its_aliza

Great comment.. also I'd like to add that ymir and eren were both injected before they turned into one of those "mindless titans".. the injection only made them a pure titan with no intelligence.. Ymir was mindless titan for 60 years and we don't know how long Eren was in that state. But then later on they both ate people who had the power to transform into a titan (aka intelligent titan) and then they both became humans again with the same power as those intelligent titans. So once they reverted back into humans and mastered that power, they could easily go back and forth between being a human and a titan

its_aliza

Levi and Hange would be a great power couple but then the titans would be eliminated and we’d have no series! I wouldn’t want to meet either of them in a dark alley, titans or humans! They are badass! Hahaha Drake alert X 1 😂😂

Cheryl Lambert

I’m confused as to why Historia is “special “ and of royal blood when her father is a noble but her mother was not? Interesting….. I’m going back to the last episode where Armin was saying that there were good people that he may have killed that just belonged to different groups with different beliefs (I’m paraphrasing here) and feeling a sense of the here and now when the guys were talking about how does a government rewrite history. We are seeing it happen in RL where history is being rewritten to fit a certain narrative, books and media being censored, a group think mentality of you have to be the same as me or you’re wrong. I love how this series really makes you question and think. It’s so well written. PTSD and trauma can exist when parents don’t apologize or take responsibility but anger is a wasted emotion in my humble opinion. It neither changes nor solves anything.

Cheryl Lambert

Just a quick clarification since I’m afraid my comment about Ymir lying to Christa in 2x11 may have cause some confusion (sorry!). The lie I was specifically referring to was that if she traded Christa over, Ymir would be saved. We know this to be a lie because Reiner in 2x10 says he can’t guarantee Ymir’s safety even if Christa came with them. As you can surmise from this episode, the part about Ymir stealing the power of the Titans from Marcel was true.

Kevin

I'll simply explain exactly what they said in the episode. How titan powers work: So like they said. Mindless titans, meaning titans that lack intelligence are the normal titans that we have seen a lot just eating away humanity. Those are normal titans. Ymir was one of those titans for approximately 60 years, she was outside the walls running around for 60 years and then finally she found a human which was Reiner, Bertholdt and Annie's comrade "Marcel". Now remember since Reiner, Bert and Annie all have titan powers. it's not a coincident hat Marcel also has a power. So when Ymir ate him, she for the firs time in 60 years finally turned back into a human while having Marcels powers. So yes, when a mindless titan consumes a human that has the power to turn into a titan. They get that power and turn back into a human. Meaning all humans that has the power to be able to turn into a titan. Has once consumed a human with a titan power. Meaning, Whoever the best titan is, Reiner, Bertholdt, Annie, Ymir and most importantly Eren. Have all while they were a mindless titan, consumed a human with the power of turning into a titan. But that process, does do something to ur memory. And all titan shifters don't necessarily remember big bits and pieces of the time they ate a human with that power

Gatha Naranath

yes guys its all in the hair XD those blondies man

its_aliza

Gentleman, did you notice that the Military Policeman who approached young Erwin when he was sharing his father’s theory with his friend was a younger Sannes? Also, can we talk about Erwin’s eyebrows? They are everything. Cheers!

Asellus Rose

nah yall switching it up after hearing more of erwin. LMAO my mans is INNOCENT

carmen 🫧

this episode was intense. so much to take in for it being 24 minutes 🫣😳

carmen 🫧

I find it kinda hilarious that they put the Otaku Gold sticker for today's thumbnail on the grave of Erwin's father. Poor Erwin.

Jay

Jordan really said he’s a “fried egg” as of rn. Bro your brain is gonna steam like a Titan by the end of the series. Hahaha

MangoJuice

Been saying for a while i need a damn teletubby reaction

Gatha Naranath

lol don't forget Mikasa saw her parents murdered and she was kidnapped too ✨trauma✨ coming back to explain, not a spoiler because it was explained in the episode, they are defining intelligent titans as the titans that transform from human to titan at will, like Eren, Reiner etc. pure titans are dumb and have zero consciousness and just wander about looking for people to eat. so Ymir was a pure titan when she ate Marcel, gaining the ability to be human and transform into a titan at will.

fox

Alright, okay

Matthew Pershing

Attack on Titan episode every day. We are spoiled 😁
