8:31 "Look how high he jumps", that's Yuji Nishida, one of the star players in Japan national team. He is one of the short spikers too (only 186cm), so his jump is impressive that he could get through overseas blockers that the heights are mostly above 200m. I also only started watching men's volleyball team after Haikyuu, so I get your feeling! Even in Japan, before Haikyuu, volleyball was not really popular among boys. I think that's also why the author made Hinata's junior high school only had girl's club. I also remember back in my school days in Japan, the national women's volleyball was more famous than men.

in the scene where oikawa almost hits kageyama it is iwaizumi who headbutts him. from that you could deduce that iwaizumi and oikawa are teammates and friends since at least middle school. that is how kageyama was able to predict oikawas set to iwaizumi on karasunos set point. in the high pressure "do or die" situation kageyama knew that oikawa would set to the player he trusts the most and has the tightest bond with.

You're right that Haikyuu is quite realistic and, compared to many other sports anime, down-to-earth when it comes to the sport it portrays (not to mention incredibly comprehensive). Many of the players on Japan's national team (and in other countries too) are fans, and Haikyuu's realism is often cited first as something they like about it. Imo the most unrealistic move is Hinata's and Kageyama's quirk, and even that is not technically impossible physically (Japanese players tried it in a Haikyuu documentary and succeeded) โ€” it's just nearly impossible to do it with their consistency, given that Hinata's eyes are closed.

You have now met Kageyamaโ€™s foil! (Oikawa) Anime can be very hyperbolic. Just like Sasha goes crazy over food in an over the top manner, Iwaizumiโ€™s kick to Oikawaโ€™s back is exaggerated for comedic effect. Western cartoons, like Looney Toons, have a ton of over exaggerated โ€œcomedicโ€ violence (think Road Runner vs. Wile E. Coyote). Love every Haikyu!! Wednesday. We are on the couch with delivery pizza tonight watching todayโ€™s drops. As always, many thanks for entertaining us this evening!๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’œ

In Haikyuu you will see many moments that resemble dark scenes and characters making facial expressions reminiscent of a horror show. This is because the author, Haruichi Furudate, previously used to write and draw horror manga and decided to include these references in Haikyuu as a mark of his style.

Hi, coming from BTS Patreon and joining this one specifically because of Haikyuu. It hold a special place in my heart due to the fact that my sister (who is a big fan of it, watched it many times now and read all the manga) got me into it. So Iโ€™m loving watching reacting to it, like my sister and I did. Now I gotta say, donโ€™t sleep on Tsukishima, donโ€™t wanna spoil ๐Ÿ˜‰ So Iโ€™m just gonna say, that because of a few moments, that people that have watch Haikyuu in its entirety will know, he became one of my favorite character on the show, maybe because I can relate to him in some type of way ๐Ÿค Now thatโ€™s all Iโ€™mย gonna say or Iโ€™m going to spoil you and thatโ€™s not what we want. And you will discover also a lot about other teammates or rival teams, in the end in Haikyuu you canโ€™t really not like a character even if itโ€™s a rival team. And finally, when you talked about watching it during the Olympics, I got thrown back to summer 2021 watching Volleyball during the Olympics in Tokyo, with my family, me and my sister being the only one really knowing the rules, thanks to Haikyuu ๐Ÿ˜… we watched mostly the final France v. The Russian team and the semifinal of France. Once you watch and understand Haikyuu, you can probably better understand volleyball, at least it was the case for me and my sister. Hope this year Iโ€™ll be able to catch some matches as Iโ€™m a volunteer during the Olympics, on another sport. Now canโ€™t wait for you to go into the nexts seasons that have some of my favorite episodes and moments ๐Ÿ˜‰ And love your reactions.

The dump is when you hit the ball over on the second touch instead of the third (usually the setter does this because they usually touch the ball 2nd). The faint (or Tip) is when the spiker goes to hit it but instead of spiking it hard he bumps it up and over the block.

Is it just me but is the episode volume a little too loud? I usually use headphones and have no problems, but with the regular speakers I'm having a hard time hearing them talk over the episode volume. It might just be me.

I really like your haikyuu and Aot reactions and I might stick around for the death note ones. Though I'm rather hesitant on watching the death note reactions because honestly the live action ruined that anime for me๐Ÿ’€ and I eventually lost interest in it after a while but I'll check them out. Also please watch the OVA after you finish season one of haikyuu. Really exited to see your thoughts on the multiple new characters they'll introduce in later seasons. Keep doing what you do ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ
