2024-03-30 16:33:28 +0000 UTCConsider the German language and its pronunciation of letters. How do you pronounce German-made Volkswagens as if you were a German speaker? The letter W makes a V sound. The name Erwin has German etymological roots, hence the W making the V sound. Since Erwin cannot speak for himself to express how he prefers his name pronounced (with a German accent or English one), we go by the creator’s (Isayama’s) intended pronunciation. Japanese romanizes his name’s pronunciation as Eruvin. It might help to think of a name like Jesus which is a common given name in Spanish-speaking countries. Here, in the USA, do we pronounce the name Jee-Zhus or Hay-Soos when addressing a friend who has Jesus as their given name? It’s the same for me with Erwin…I use the German pronunciation.

Most of the time the scenes explain themselves as you continue watching so all your questions are gonna be answered if you just let it play out a little more, not unless its really intended to make the audience speculate. Sometimes you unintentionally disrupt the flow of the scene and dialogue which makes it more confusing for both of you and 1st time watchers. If you pause in the middle of a dialogue or an explanation or introduction, there's a tendency that you lose the overall context. Again, just a mere suggestion, sorry if I come across as annoying 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Levi sees the trio of Eren, Mikasa and Armin like his trio. Eren = Isabel, Armin = Farlan, and Mikasa = Levi.

Levi is in his early 30's in our current time period of season 1 (while Eren is 15) and Erwin is assumed to be in his mid to late 30's. So during the time of Levi in the Underground in this OAD (just one year before the fall of Wall Maria) he was in his mid 20's. :)

The slow motion sequence combined with his swift, precise, and powerful movements that restrain Levi AND the music sounding like it came right out of Jaws is just *chefs kiss* A great way of showing the viewer his level of skill as a member of the survey corps (because he isn't a commander as of that moment, just a squad leader)

Consider this every time you see a bird, feather, flight, wings on capes, etc. Many cities in the USA have undergrounds. Take a walking history tour of a city’s underground some time. Way cool! Seattle’s tour is one of my faves. Seattle rebuilt itself on top of itself in 1886. My current small city (population 60k) even has an tourable underground of historic sidewalks, storefronts, and living quarters (uninhabited, of course). Thanks for today’s reaction. Love watching alongside you, gentlemen. Anxious for tomorrow’s episode and Monday’s S2 drop!

My understanding is also that “Aniki” can used by lower ranked “little brothers” to call the higher ranked “big brothers” in a yakuza setting.

Also, the reason why Levi is short (he's 5'2") is because of the lack of sunlight and malnourishment from his childhood in the Underground.

I’m not a “ship-er” at all, but when I first saw this, I just kinda figured it was implied with two adult men living together. And when Isabel first says, “Bro Levi”, Levi looks really confused and goes “bro?”. I know it’s not clear either way, they could just be roommates. I usually find I’m the only one that even considers a romantic connection though. Am I crazy?

I was told that even when your out in the sun for long periods of time it's sometimes not enough to avoid deficiency. I'm not a medical professional though so maybe someone else can comment on that.
