Another 10/10 anime I recommend is Monster. It's a bit old but it's such a dark, gripping, eerie and a psychological thriller. It has some of the best cast of well written complex characters and a haunting plot line that will make you think and consider so many things very deeply.

I feel like you guys would love jjk, because the story just gets better and better. Although it might take some time for y'all to fully understand the magic/power system of the show since it's so intricate, it still manages to charm the viewers in a different way! I promise you guys, the story just elevates every episode and it's my current favourite anime!! It is a phenomenal show.

One thing they didn't portray in the anime as well as in the Manga, is Annie was a lot closer to Eren/Armin in the Manga, and that's why Eren had such a hard time accepting it, and transforming.

If you guys are looking for another show after AOT, Re:Zero is a masterpiece that shares a common element with AOT in that it sets up questions very early on that aren't answered until way later. The mysteries slowly unravel and they often pay off in huge ways. Some off the best character development I've seen in any show as well. It's all about watching characters grow and evolve into different versions of themselves. I would be so happy to see you guys break the show down with your analytical format.

Attack on Titan is the type of show that will stay with you forever. It’s just so human. I started college recently and have been grinding for a 4.0 and struggling with a “what’s the point?” But then I always come back to a specific scene of aot. It’s just so profound. I really love your reactions and can’t wait for you to experience where it goes. Also don’t worry about feeling sad once it’s over you can just watch reaction videos like we all are.
also aslo… ATTACK ON TTIAN IN NINE MINUTES. It’s such a good parody of the first season. You guys should definitely watch it even if you don’t react to it!

You can't go wrong with the classic Naruto. You might know a lot about it already. Naruto is very very popular but maybe a bit basic for your viewers. So Demon Slayer would be my 2nd choice.

It's however a very real thing. going through a traumatic show like this super fast and then being done out of no where can really throw you though a bit of an emotional loop and they signed up for some serious binging. I wouldn't be surprised if they kept up this speed and had a bit of PTSD empty feelings for a couple days from finishing it too quick. mental health comes above a job. lol I don't feel like every couple/few weeks throwing in a breather and doing a couple less episodes is too big a deal to the viewer and it extends our viewing experience too.

You're right irl it would be absolutely intolerable.. But now imagine if our real world would be like the world of AOT.. Where humanity is on the brink of extinction and our only chance and hope for survival is to risk the lives of some people instead of the whole humanity to get the answers which might one day grant us victory..

I envy you guys a bit. Season 1 was released April 2013 and Season 2 was aired April 2017. We had to wait 4 YEARS to find out what the heck was going on! I rememeber watching reruns of Season 1 on Adult Swim/Toonami because we were waiting so long. I envy everyone who gets to binge this anime. HOWEVER, I do love the fact that I grew up with this anime for 10 years. When it ended it left a hole in my heart. Watching reactors like you, and having my mom watch for the first time, is the only way I can feel a fraction of the feeling I felt when I first watched. I really appreciate the care you put into watching these episodes, that's why you're the first and only channel I have every subbed to Patreon for. You're putting so much care into an anime we love wholeheartedly, and I appreciate that so much and I'm sure others could agree. Also, Fullmetal Alchemist is an amazing anime and should be watched. It was personally my #1 favorite until AOT finally finished then it got bumped to #2.

Oh, an anime to fill in the AoT hole when you're done.... that would be hard. Demon Slayer has some elements, it's a fun watch, though it didn't pull me in as intensely every episode. I will say, Demon Slayer has one of the best animated episodes I've ever seen, the series is worth that one episode alone in my opinion.
A dark and gut punchy anime that's far less widely known, Texhnolyze. It's paced a little slower, but it is another anime with people living in a controlled world, just for very different reasons... Crime lords instead of Titans.
If you want a really different anime, one that touches on philosophy and humanity. But, much slower paced than anything your watching now, Haibane Renmei. That series hit me in the feels far more than I expected it to. It's my #1 anime and it's an older one that I watched many years ago. It's not going to fill a AOT hole, since it's soo different, but it does have that sense of, "what's happening," since you follow a character who is literally hatched out of a giant egg-sack thing and is also trying to figure out who and what they are.

I think analyzing Nile’s decisions purely from his perspective and in a real world scenario really reveals a lot about our bias as the audience.
Imagine if you’re a police chief for some city somewhere in the middle of America. And suddenly, there’s a terrorist that starts blowing things up and killing people. Then, an army general shows up and says, “Yea, we planned for this battle to happen, didn’t tell you anything about these plans, and by the way, we have our own guy with bombs who’s gonna fight the terrorist (and inadvertently kill a lot of people himself -aka Erin straight up ran through a building). And on top of that the guy you sent to report comes back and confirms tons of civilians are dying.
Anyone in that position, given only that info, would be furious at the army commander. It’s actually incredible Nile showed restraint on Erwin, and was calm enough to organize rescue efforts for the civilians.
Edit: just realized that you can add the fact that this is the same commander who won against you in court by arguing 1. Erin would be taken outside the walls, and 2. Levi would be right on Erin’s ass at all times. Then in this scenario, Erin’s running through buildings in Wall Sina, and Levi is injured and just standing by the commander. Lmao.

Jared & Jordan, earlier you expressed an interest in learning the occupations of your viewers. I’m an attorney, and I’m quite sure that I’m much older than both you and the majority of your supporters. Your reaction videos are a much needed respite from my busy and high stress days.
I rate AOT as one of the top pieces of media I have ever consumed. And, I assure you that I am not easily impressed. Unfortunately, because you started your anime journey with the master class in storytelling that transcends all genres, you will be hard pressed to find another anime that will measure up. Will you find something else enjoyable? Sure. But, I am confident in my prediction that nothing will be as groundbreaking of an experience for you. Nothing will bend your mind in the same way. Nothing will evoke the same type and level of raw emotion. Nothing will be as poignant. Savor this, gentlemen. Savor. This.
Side note- Jordan, I truly appreciate that you thought better of calling Annie the b-word a few episodes back. I find it concerning when someone’s response to a woman doing something they don’t approve of is to refer to said woman by a misogynistic slur. I have quietly dropped numerous creators for that very reason.
I am thoroughly enjoying your thoughtful commentary and the opportunity to relive my first time AOT experience through your eyes.
Cheers!

Hi! Thank you for the great reaction and congrats finishing S1! XD
I've always decided what I'll comment on this ep:
It is about where Armin and Jean was having the conversation at the last part.
Jean says "Is it really a victory for humanity, if we through away our humanity and become a monster to win?"(Of course this wasn't exactly what he said, but things like this)
How do you think about this?
In my opinion, I thought THIS was what Isayama actually wanted to say.
I think it's true that you need to make difficult decisions if you want to make a change, but is it the right answer to through away ALL your humanity to win? Is that "humanity's" win?
I would love to hear your thoughts!
Next coming season is more crazier, get ready!!!!
Have fun, and take care :)

*first time watcher*
The thumbnail..😅
Never seen super Eren with those glowing hot veins before..
😱 fusing?! 😱😱😱 is that why super Annie tried to swallow Eren in the forest? To...🤐🤐😵💫😮💨
But did that really happen though..Levi got Eren out so quick..
Erm okay I need to know Annie's backstory seriously..
I had to rewatch 16:00 to 18:00 several times to catch what they were saying - Eren & Annie's dad..what Eren said didnt make sense to me..destroy the entire world?! I am free?! 😨
I wrote down some points from the miner’s story, but will keep that to myself for now.
👀 HOLD UP NOW...How thick is that wall?! Is that Titan INSIDE or IN BETWEEN the walls or was it peeking in from OUTSIDE?! What is happening!?
😵💫 my head hurts..what a story so far..I was actually a little surprised I didnt see the others (Reiner, Bertolt, Krista, that tall freckled lady, Sasha and Connie) during the whole time in Stohess, until the very end..nor were any of them in the room with Erwin, Levi, Hange, the trio and Jean..🤔
Anyways, I have soo much more in my own notes 😅 will leave it as it is for now.. onward we go!! 💜🙏🏻

So, a little side note. Firstly, congratulations on finishing S1! Secondly...!
Maybe you didn't quite catch or fully process what you saw... That titan wasn't on the other side of the wall; it was inside it! But no worries! Back then, the fandom had to wait over a year for the animated series to continue. (The manga was still ongoing when the first season wrapped up, so they had to wait for the author to finish the next arc before moving forward with the show.)
So, naturally, by the time the animation resumed, everyone who watched the first season had already explained it to those who didn't quite get it at first. You're just hopping onto the express lane, especially as newcomers to anime, so be kind to yourselves. It's okay to not get everything right away, many of us didn't either at first.
Anime and manga tend to move at a slower pace of consumption than the shows we're used to here, with many getting chapters/episodes only once per week in Japan. That time frame between each release allows the authors to include a *lot* of detailing for fans to pick up on and discuss online before the next chapter.
In fact, I would say that the fact that there *is* a waiting time until next episode is what makes anime communities so lively. We are all craving for the next episode, but there isn't one yet, so we can only talk to each other... See how that works? Manga/Anime publishers understand that, so they rely a lot on word of mouth as a marketing tool and, as you can see, it does pay off immensely.
We are all here, after all.

this is just the beginning! don't worry about the end! and the best part of anime, like you may have noticed, is you can watch a show many many times and catch more things each time. or show this anime to a friend or family member and watch them go crazy! lol
it's pretty early to be thinking about the next anime, i hope for fullmetal alchemist brotherhood.
something i think you should keep in mind is a finished anime vs and unfinished anime. currently you are watching death note and AOT which are finished, and you are watching Haikyuu which the manga is finished and the anime will be finished this year. fullmetal alchemist is finished as well. i am NOT saying to not watch anime where the story isn't finished... but i think it may drive yall a little insane. (i'm looking at you, JJK)
(i also don't want to forget the other huge side of anime, slice of life / shojo anime but i'm not sure yall are ready for warm and fuzzy anime, can you handle it? lol)

I think my favorite comment I've ever seen in regards to this show went something like, "Erwin's horse truly is the strongest character on this show because it has to lug around the weight of his sheer brass balls." And I think this episode highlighted that nicely.

not 100 years, approx 60-65 years
Sean Carroll
2024-03-24 02:05:37 +0000 UTC
the one confusion you have is the 20 years. The miner didnt dig under wall sina for 20 years, he just had 20 years experience prior to beginning his sina digging. Therefore he started around 760
Sean Carroll
2024-03-24 02:04:35 +0000 UTC
are you dumb??? This is absolutely impossible for many reasons.
1. the story was from 784 which is approximately 30-40 years after the walls were formed when the last of humanity escaped inside the walls.
2. The Collosal titan attacks in 845 which is 61 years after this story and we are currently in the year 850, 66 years after the story
3. Erens dad was a doctor (not a miner or an undisclosed job the friend had in the tale)
4. Annie's dad is unknown so far.
5. Grisha was an able bodied doctor when we saw him in the opening episodes, if he was the man in the story then he would have 20 years of mining experience (starting 764) this would make him somewhere near 100 years old in the present time.
6. Annie's dad also has annie who is approximately 15 years old, if he was Grishas friend then he would also be near 100 years old now
As the person above me mentioned the math makes the claim that the two men in the story to be Grisha and Annies father completely unfeasible.
Not to mention this is also impossible given what we know of the story later down the road, but obviously will not delve into that spoiler territory yet

Also, I am amazed how you didn't freaked out with the post Credit scene. I remember having to wait years in anticipation after that reveal-- or perhaps you guys hasn't processed the reveal yet since alot really has happened. Looking forward for your OVA reactions and for season 2 as well.

Your reactions are great as always, but what truly impresses me about your approach is your meticulous analysis of the show's writing. As someone working in the cinema industry, I understand the crucial role detailed writing plays in a show. However, I would also encourage you to pay attention to elements like soundtrack and lighting, as they significantly enhance the storytelling experience.
Another anime I highly recommend is Code Geass. With just 50 episodes, it shares some similarities with AOT. I believe you'll experience similar emotions while watching Code Geass as you did with AOT.

Fun fact: Jean has a crush on Mikasa, I believe that's why he looked back at her and Eren, and felt some type of jealousy

Come on now, basic math says it's not them. Grisha was like in his 40s when the first attack happens. And given that Annie is the same age as Eren I would venture to say that her dad can't be much older than that. -- if the miner was 18 when he started digging and dug for 20 years and then 40 years passed that would make him at the very least 78 at the start of the show.

Now that the first season is finished, I feel its an appropriate time to ask.
Eren's hatred for the titans has overshadowed some other key traits of his character that are only going to become more prominent going forward.
In EP1, before the fall of Shiganshina, Eren tells Hannes that the way they live in no different to cattle - eating and sleeping inside walls, only a moment away from being slaughtered by titans. Later, when Mikasa reveals at the table 10 year old Eren's intention to join the Survery Corps, he still shares this sentiment in front of his parents.
In EP5, when Eren is in the mouth of a titan, he reaches out and tells Armin that he cannot die like this. That, as was depicted in a book Armin owned, there was a world outside the wall that he had to see.
In EP13, when Eren's Super Titan is knocked out beside the boulder, and Armin is trying to wake him up so they can retake Trost,
Armin says (in the dub first, because I rlly like the dialogue in the dub):
"Tell me, honestly, even though your first step beyond the wall could mean the difference between a warm hearth and hell on earth ... Even though it could mean risking your life, gambling against the possibility of dying like my parents, why? Why throw caution to the wind and venture outside?"
Eren responds, "What kind of question is that? Don't play dumb. You know damn well why. Because ... the world beyond the wall is my birthright."
Or in the sub,
"Eren, answer me. Why do you want to see the outside world so badly, knowing that with even a step beyond the walls, a living hell and cruel death might be the only things that await, just like what my parents had to go through?
“Why? Isn’t that obvious? It’s because I was born in this world!"
And then he finally wakes up to carry the boulder.
Eren is often regarded as one of the best protagonists in anime because of his complex nature, but it's easy to just see him as the 'I hate titans' guy and forget that he's actually very deviant, opinionated, and feels a strong sense of suffocation inside the walls.
Because this side of Eren has been less overt these past few episodes, what do you think of it? In this new season, how do you think he and the main cast of characters will develop?

For the bet: Eren didn’t win, I’d say this was a stalemate.
For the mid-credit scene: it states 784 so it was 100 years ago. It can’t be any characters we know but it does reveal more about the walls

When you guys do inevitably finish the show, whichever pace you go, one way to fill the void is watching full AoT series reactions! Haha, that’s why many of us are here after all!
If you guys do continue at 6/week, I’m sure none of us would mind if every half-season arc you took a few days to absorb it instead of jumping right into the next arc. Really whatever works for you guys, as AoT fans we want new fans to have the best first viewing experience possible!

For the next series please consider Demon slayer 🤗 also keep in mind there are several different genres of anime. If you get tired of the gory scenes maybe a short wholesome anime would be nice too. Currently I'm enjoying the Delicious in Dungeon anime on Netflix

Hey, nice job figuring things out so many little things ahead of time in this episode and in previous ones! 👍 I've been biting my tongue, waiting to comment until you finished Season 1! Haha.
It's cool how this show keeps its edge, even as you grow older and start seeing through the usual writing patterns. You'd be blown away by how many breadcrumbs AOT has been spreading around that only make sense later on. It's one of those rare series that I tell people to rewatch once they've finished the whole thing because rewatching gives you an even better perspective of how deeply everything has been purposely interwoven since the beginning.
I remember watching AOT's 1st season when I was a young adult, barely 18. Considering how much I've devoured games, books, and RPG manuals in my short life (I've been obsessed with uncovering and dissecting good stories since I was like 6 or 7, blame my great grandma and her amazing narrator voice haha). The fact that this show still holds up as one of my favorite bits of storytelling amongst so many stories is quite a feat. And trust me, it only gets better from here on out. Enjoy the ride!
I'm excited to vote for future anime content, it's my first time joining anyone's Patreon haha! Wishing you both an awesome time! Thanks for creating that Gold rank for anime fans like me!
PS: I've noticed people mentioning their jobs in past videos... I'll admit, I've been rushing to catch up on your latest AOT content, so this might seem a bit out of left field... Anyway, I work as a private investigator. And yeah, I'm a Death Note fan too, how'd you guess? 😅

i think the pace you’re at will work well, especially for future seasons. aot is the type of show where you get the best experience when information is still fresh in your mind, and there will be loads of info thrown at you soon that may be difficult to remember with large gaps between episodes.
that being said though, don’t burn yourselves out. at the end of the day the pace that works for you will be the best pace to go at.

OMG i've watched attack on titan 14 times and i never stopped to read that massive wall of text at the half-way point. having completed the show, and with full context, my jaw is on the ground. you're likely to forget that miner's story by the time the information shared in it becomes relevant, so i think it was intended by isayama to only be fully understood once you finished the show and came back for a rewatch. a few things i wanted to talk about from that half-way point though...
the year was 784 - AOT begins in the year 845 with the first attack on the walls, then its 850 when the colossal reappears. since that trost episode, it has really only been a month or so.
if the miner had been digging for 20 years then he would have disappeared in the year 804, which is 40 years prior to the 1st episode, so i think its safe to assume that the miner is neither eren's nor annie's father (grisha in 39 in 845, so he must have been born in the year 806)
the story basically went:
-a miner wanted to live comfortably within Wall Sina, because yknow its the innermost, most affluent wall
-eventually, his motivation changed from wanting to enter Sina to conquering the wall, because it seemed to go underground forever
-"the hole was 4 or 5 times the miner's height when he struck hard rock" [...] "but it appeared to be of the same material as the wall's foundation itself" [...] "the shovel shattered, but the rock was unscathed"
-he is discussing how deep the wall is with his friend when he asks, "What, exactly, are the walls?" "His friend cuts him off, glancing around the tavern."
-not soon later, the miner disappears. then eventually, the friend disappears too after reporting the miner's disappearance
i'm honestly grinning because i think the writer (isayama) is crazy for this but what did y'all think about it? what questions does it evoke? now that i know it exists, i think highlighting its importance will make things even CRAZIER down the road. wow... what a great season finale half-way point.

If you're going to take a break or slow down for the sake of burn out either in the show or just from the show ending too fast I'd suggest doing 4 episodes a week every couple weeks or something, and either watch 2 episodes twice a week, or four episodes once a week. or something. rather than stopping all together and taking an actual break. I think if you did like 2-3 weeks of 6 episodes, and then threw in a week of 3-4 episodes it would help drag it out a little for you, but I just don't think taking an actual break would be a good idea for flow of the story, unless it becomes necessary.

There's a ton of great shows to choose from after AOT. personally I suggest Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. It's about 2 brothers and its got probably the most recommended dubs out there so it'll be awesome if you checked it out. Some other of my favorite shows id recommended is bleach, dr stone, my hero academia, and JJK. Code geass is good too but personally suggest to NOT to jump onto the same exact shows the majority of other reactors are doing. It can become extremely repetitive when most creators are doing the same shows. That's one reason I really started disliking demon slayer :/
