No episode for soon a week?:(

Nishinoya’s save with his foot is still one of my favorite moments. I yelled so loud the first time I saw this episode. He’s the best libero no doubt

Just for your info, haikyu has movie versions of their series which are actually a very condensed version of it. I usually don't recommend watching the movie version as it does cut out quite a lot from the series but despite that, they do have some extra outtakes which were probably cut from the series. I personally think it shouldn't be cut since the extra scenes usually last about 1-5 minutes long. There's some extra scenes from their first movie (Haikyuu!!: the Movie 1: The End and the Beginning) around the 1:24:08 mark which gives a flashback on how Kenma & Kuroo's delayed attack came from. Although it was short, the flashbacks showed us a glimpse of their closeness since childhood. As for this episode, the movie version of it (Haikyuu!! The Movie 2: The Winner and The Loser) around the 32.24 mark, had some added content about the reaction to the loss of the Dateko's players which I think you could try to watch as well. The content adds layers to the players personality and regarding their determination in future plays. Also, you might want to keep in mind to watch another extra content only at the end of season 2, since it might be a while till you reach there. It's from their third movie (Haikyu! Movie 3: Genius and Sense) around the 1:19:39 mark till the end. I personally feel this one is one that you must see. Why Haikyu is such a loved anime for me is that it shows me the pure and sincerity in every one of the characters. There really is no villain in this series. There's lots of antagonist in the anime no doubt but none that are evil and dark or have ill intentions. It reminds me that everyone is the protagonist of their own lives and an antagonist in someone else's but that also does not mean you are evil. In fact it made me empathise more on others and try to see life in the other person's perspective. Glad you're enjoying the anime series. Looking forward to next week's episode!

Can’t you see the angle of his eyebrows? Boy is calmness itself 😌

Xiaoxiao

Yeah, my heart broke when I read that for the first time. This baby is just so afraid of others not wanting to be near him… We need a whole protection squad 🥲

@10:00 is a fantastic testament to Aone’s skill as a defender. Aone sees the ball is coming to the ace and he purposely leaves an open space in his block to draw Asahi's spike in (Asahi, from his POV, sees the hole and prepares to thread the ball through it). When Asahi smashes the ball, Aone quickly shifts his arms’ angle to the side to close the gap and block the hit. Love the in-air battles!!! Count me in the Aone Cinnamon Roll Protection Squad gang. Gentle giant to be sure. Thanks for the serotonin boost! Love Haikyu!! Wednesdays.

This is definitely a breather after where we at on AOT *phew* Aww you guys are too cute, tapping and pronouncing names 😂 What Asahi said to Tsukki at that moment was so real..it goes to show how with each game, every player in the team grows in more ways than one. 🤣 that moment J&J froze, thinking the episode was over.. Amazing reaction guys! The best 2 episodes yet 💜🙏💜🙏💜

"bless Aone for his angry face because that's his calm face" I can't 😂😂😂

Volleyball is all about adjusting. Whether it's the adjustment from the coach, or adjustment from the players themselves. Whoever stop adjusting, will lose for sure. Just like how Karasuno lost to Dateko last year, they stopped adjusting and kept the same thing by tossing to the ace. This year, they kept adjusting even though Dateko also adjusted in every single point. What a great match. Another thing I love about volleyball other than the fact that they can't play alone because of the touch rules (players can't touch the ball twice and only have split second to touch it), is the rotation system. It's impossible to have good rotation and match up every time, especially in high school where most of the players are specialized in their position (like for example, Hinta is good in offense and Tsukki is good at blocking). So basically in volleyball, as long as the strength gap is not too far, every team has an equal chance of winning with that rule. You only can rotate after you side out. A side-out is when the other team has the serve, but your team wins the point. When the opponent serve, automaticay we are the receiving team, so we have to score by attacking after we receive (unless the opponent missing the serve like Hinata lol). That's why Asahi said it's amazing that Tsukki remains calm while in the front row against Dateko. Even though Tsukki is a good blocker, when the opponent serving, he has to be one of the attackers in the front. And it's hard to do that calmly while having giant walls in front of you 😂

i didnt know that about his biggest fear. now im in tears D:

My first ever Patreon subscription and it was absolutely worth it !! Closing in on season 1 and I’m so happy you guys have enjoyed it ! 🙏🏻🙏🏻😄 the character development for Karasuno is just beginning both in personality and playing style 🫡 the seasons to come , dont lack either. If anything draw you deeper to the story the growth and the game lol looking forward to next reaction ! 🤟🏻💜

Aone protection squad assemble 🏃‍♀️

Since we are getting closer to the end of season 1, it is customary for the Haikyuu fandom to ask reactors to talk about their top 3 favorite characters, dialogues/lessons and scenes after they finish every season. It would be interesting to see if your top 3 characters change, just as mine did, while you get to see more seasons😂. I am really looking forward to seeing your reactions to certain future characters 💜 🙏 Also, I know you guys don’t have time to binge the rest of the season so here are some episodes I would recommend watching together: 19-21 22-24 (ep 25 is the last episode of the season so I am really hoping we can get a 4 episode binge to finish the season off?). No worries if it’s not possible 😊

Bibi

HAHAHAHA THE PASSWORD!! And 18:11 "Oh he aint Nishinoya! You aint no Nishinoya!! Respectfully☝️ you aint no Nishinoya!!" Hahaha I laughed so hard at this part!! And Jordan singing Go Go Home DateKo on the side LOL!! The adrenaline and anxiety you're feeling watching this, believe it or not, is just a quarter of what you will feel on their following matches!! Man i cannot wait!!!

nikki

My brain was jumbled after the episode… wanted to get my thoughts out before I forgot… lol

You mean the coach not the captain… Captain is Daichi though.

Mel

The two guys in the stands we have been seeing a lot are from the coach’s Volleyball Association Team (Adult Volleyball Club) That Karasuno played early on when the Coach first joined the team to gauge Karasuno's skills and what they needed to improve on...

I got this from another reactor who plays professional volleyball and explained this terms so well. Couch Ukai mentioned ‘Commit Block’ and ‘Read Block’: Imagine the attackers on one side of the net (either two or three) and each stands on the left, middle and/or right of the net. And on the other side you have three blockers. Each player is kinda responsible for the players that enters their ‘zone’. A COMMIT BLOCK is: Jump with the player. You choose a player on the opposite team and if that player jumps they jump too. They are commonly used by middle blockers (ex. Tsukishima and Hinata), because quick attacks are so fast and they don’t have time. So, they follow their middle attacker and jump or run whenever they jump or run. You can see this ‘Commit Block’ throughout the game with Date Tech’s middle blockers, trying to follow Hinata and so became easier for Hinata to become a decoy. A READ BLOCK is: Trying to get a double block in front of every hitter. When you know where the pass is going and what the options are of the opposing setter, you keep your eyes open on the hitters on either side of the net. As soon as the ball is released from the setter, that’s when you try to block it. This is what Date Tech (Aone in particular) does: They let Karasuno play however they want and Date Tech waits until they see Kageyama set and the moment they see where his hand/body/eyes are going, they simply block that toss. Couch Ukai mentioned how Aone is the perfect example of read blocking as Aone doesn’t have a tunnel vision (commit block) and keeps his head cool to predict who is going to hit. (Bless Aone for his angry face because that’s his calm face) In the beginning the couch of Date Tech mentioned how Kageyama has a neat posture. Meaning they can’t tell from his body language where his toss is going to be, which makes it difficult for them to know who he is going to toss. Also, the weird duo fast attack is so fast that no commit nor read blocking can even stand a chance against Hinata and Kageyama. And with those two utilising the suga’s signals, they are almost unpredictable. That’s why Date Tech keeps mentioning how those two are like monsters. Fun fact about Aone (no spoiler, unless you want to read the manga): Each character has a detailed description panel in the manga and Aone’s biggest fear is people not wanting to sit next to him (because he looks scary ). He is such an adorably awkward boy. So, when you said he looks like someone who came out of prison, I laughed so hard. This baby doesn’t deserve that (remember Asahi guys.) 🤣 But I get it, we all are biased when it comes to Karasuno. Can’t wait to see your reactions of Aone in the future and heads up for the next couple of episodes of this season: I died of multiple heart attacks here. So, good luck and enjoy!

Xiaoxiao

Always a great reaction! Haikyuu really is just a happy anime. No matter how many times I see it, it always makes me smile. You guys are releasing so much so fast now it's hard to keep up!

Rhast

Love the reactions and deep talks that you guys do for every episode and can’t wait for you guys to react to the next couple of episodes because it’s so great and leaves you wanting to watch more without waiting. Keep up the amazing reactions. P.s can’t wait for you guys to learn more about Oikawa for he is one of my favorite characters in the series and because I can relate to him on personal level when it comes to volleyball.

Erza

@5:25 When Tsukki was saying to Asahi "It's Hinata's job to steal the spotlight. My job is to keep trouble from happening while Hinata is rotated into the back row" you'll see that Hinata is symbolized as the sunflower/sun, hence his name Hinata meaning "sunflower facing the sun", and Tsukishima is symbolized as the moon because "tsuki" means "moon" in Japanese. Thought this was a great metaphor on their positions replicating the sun and moon, and the difference in their personalities!

Lol y'all: don't judge a book by it's cover, Asahi is a gentle giant Y'all later: Aone looks like he's just outa prison Not our sweet cinnamon roll Aone 🥺

fox

great reaction guys! i love how much attention to detail you give. about the two guys in the stands watching the game and commenting, the one with the glasses and the blonde, because you didnt know who they were: they are from the karasuno neighbourhood association team, the team they played a practice match against when asahi and noya returned. they'll come watch more often and comment on the matches, thats why I'm letting you know. Also, from now on the matches are gonna be more fast paced. Karasuno vs Date Tech was more slow paced to focus on Asahi overcoming his past struggles, but you are in for a ride now and its gonna leave you on the edges of your seats, i promise. haikyuu is one of the few animes that only gets better the longer you watch it. this was only the beginning
