Gideon lay on the bed with a wet cloth over his eyes. He was clearly stressed out about something, but Liam doubted the man had much to be stressed about. He was obviously rich, and could have probably afforded to buy this entire motel, whereas Liam was still struggling to keep the meth out of his hands.
The pain in his body was excruciating now. He knew from experience that it was too soon for it to be withdrawals, but it still sucked. Perhaps if he took just a small amount, the buyer wouldn’t notice. He’d fill it with something to sort the weight, and it would be like nothing had happened.
He glanced back at the businessman who hadn’t moved in over an hour. Maybe he was dead. Liam reached over and poked him in the arm.
“Don’t touch me, please” he said with his dumb posh voice.
“Just making sure you don’t die on my bed” Liam told him, and plucked the package back into his hands.
Just a tiny bit. Just enough for a quick high and then he’d stop. It was their fault anyway, he thought, it was nearly the evening, which meant they’d left him there for nearly twelve hours. He shook his head and, using his fingernail, sliced open the edge of the package.
He pulled back the tape, waiting to find the magical drug, but the more he peeled it away, the more suspicious he became.
“I need another shower” Gideon growled, “this dump is making me feel dirty”.
Liam ignored the man as he stood up and strolled into the bathroom. Where was it? He yanked more of the tape off, ripping it away in strips as the package became smaller and smaller, and smaller.
By the time he’d pulled away the last of it, he held nothing but a concrete brick. It wasn’t a package at all.
“What the fuck?” He whispered to himself, standing up.
He walked over to the desk at the end of the bed and dropped the brick onto it, staring at it. Why had they given him a brick? As his mind raced, a car pulled up outside and Liam froze. It was a setup.
He rushed toward the door, but he was too late. It burst open, knocking him back onto the ground, and standing above him, a man wearing a black balaclava held a gun toward him.
“Get on the bed” he said, “or I’ll put a bullet in your face”.
Liam felt his body drain of blood. He held his hands up, every part of him shaking like a leaf, and slowly got to his feet.
“Look man” he gasped, “I can get out of here, I can disappear, they’ll never know”.
“Lie down, put your face in the pillow”.
“Please” Liam begged, feeling his eyes well with tears, “I’m only nineteen, I’ll go, you can tell them I’m dead, I promise I won’t come back!”
“Listen kid” the man snapped, “I’ve been paid to put a bullet in your head, and I ain’t leaving until you’re dead, so don’t make this any harder than it needs to be. Put your fuckin’ face in the pillow”.
Everything flashed through his mind. Up until now, Liam didn’t think he was scared of dying. His biggest worry was that his death would be miserable, but now that he had the option of a quick, instant one, he realised how much he wanted to live. Why did he get involved in this shit? Why had he made such bad decisions? If he had one more chance, he’d stop it all.
“I’m not gonna’ repeat myself”
This was it. Everything was about to end, and there was nothing he could do about it. He pissed his pants, but what did it matter now? Nothing mattered anymore.
The terrified young man closed his eyes and turned onto his stomach. Never again would he see. Never again would he feel. Never again would he… Bang!
It was over.
Liam lay there. There was no pain, which was good, he supposed. But why was he still feeling? He squeezed his fingers tight, he could definitely feel that. He could also feel the warm wetness of his pee underneath him, and suddenly he realised that he could feel everything.
“WHAT THE FUCK!”
His body was dragged from the bed, but instead of finding the masked man with the gun, he was staring at a completely naked Gideon who looked like he’d just seen a ghost.
“WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!?” He roared, his eyes wide and his mouth open.
“I… I don’t… What are you… Why are you naked?!” Liam gasped.
His eyes landed on a mound on the floor. The gunman was slumped to the side, the gun barely out of reach, so Liam lunged at it and grabbed it, but the man appeared to be either dead or unconscious.
“What did you do?” Liam gawped at the naked businessman, who ran his hands through his thick hair, completely ignoring the fact that his very large, very nice looking cock hung between his legs.
“I hit him with the brick” he said quietly, “I killed him. Oh fuck, I killed him”.
“He’s not dead” Liam said staring at the masked man, “we need to get out of here, now”.
“No, no” Gideon snapped, “this isn’t on me, I didn’t do anything! This is you!”
“Yeah” Liam nodded, “but when they come looking for my body, what do you think they’ll do with you?”
Gideon glared at him before apparently realising he was naked, and rushed back into the bathroom as Liam kept the gun aimed at the man. His heart pounded inside his chest, but he had never been happier to feel it. He walked over and grabbed the mask, pulling it away from the man, and he shook his head.
“Nice try, Crank” he growled, and kicked him in the nuts.
“What about my car?” Gideon asked as the two of them crept from the motel room.
“You’re a billionaire” Liam whispered, “buy another one”.
Gideon scoffed as they stuck to the shadows and left the motel parking lot.
“What now?” The man asked, “we hitch-hike back home?”
“I don’t have a home” Liam reminded him, “I’m sure there’s some nice parks around here”.
“I’m not sleeping in a damn park” the man scoffed, “an old business partner of mine is an investor in the Trey Queblanc down the street, I should be able to get a room there. And I don’t even want to know what the fuck happened back there, it’s none of my business, and I want to keep it that way”.
The two of them walked in silence for a while, but Liam felt the sudden urge to break down and cry. That had been the most terrifying moment of his life, but he kept it together as they approached a huge hotel on the outskirts of the city.
“Holy fuck” Liam gawped, staring up at the grand building, “I’ve never been in a hotel like that”.
“Nor will you be” Gideon said, “I think this is where we part ways, kid”.
“W… What?! But I have nowhere to go!”
Gideon shrugged and looked around the busy street. “You said it yourself” he told the young man, “there’s plenty of nice parks around here”.
The smartly dressed man walked toward the warm looking entrance, leaving Liam standing on the street with wet pants and tears in his eyes. For a moment, he felt nothing but relief to have gotten out of that situation back in that cheap motel, and then suddenly it hit him like a train.
He glanced back over his shoulder to see the boy slouch across the road, and for the first time in his life, he felt something other than misery. Yes, the boy was a junkie. Yes, he was scruffy, filthy and rude, and yes he was a thief, but something inside of Gideon had just snapped, and he was quite sure that it was every brain cell he had ever owned.
“For fuck’s sake” he growled to himself, turning on his heel and jogging after the young man.
“Hey!” He called, and Liam wiped his eyes and looked back.
“Come on” Gideon sighed, gesturing toward the hotel, “and hurry up, before you nearly get me killed again”.
The nineteen-year-old’s eyes widened slightly, but he couldn’t turn down the offer, no matter how cruel the man had been. He hurried over to him, but Gideon stopped him.
“You’ve pissed your pants” he said, rolling his eyes, “do you have any idea what the calibre of people who stay here is?”
“I don’t even know what those words means, bro” Liam grinned, and Gideon sighed.
“Here” he said pulling off his suit jacket and wrapping it around the teenager’s waist, “and don’t speak” he continued, grabbing him by the shoulder and walking him toward the hotel. “And don’t look at them, or move, or… Don’t do anything”.
“Aye, aye captain” the young man smiled as they entered the stunning building.
Two men stood inside the entrance, and both of them glared at Liam who grinned back. Gideon squeezed his shoulder and continued walking.
“I said don’t do anything!” He snarled under his breath as they approached the huge desk where a middle aged woman who looked like she was sucking on a hornet sat.
“Your reservation number?” She asked bitterly, and Liam decided that he didn’t like her.
“We don’t have one” Gideon told her, but before he could continue, the woman cut him off.
“I’m sorry, sir” she half smiled, “no reservation, no room. That’s our policy”.
“I understand” Gideon replied, a little sterner, “but perhaps Francois Hollande can make an exception for an old friend”.
Liam looked at Gideon who looked at the receptionist who looked back at Gideon. Rich people confused him.
“Of course, sir” she smiled, wider than she had before, “apologies for the confusion, but I’m afraid we only have a double suite available”.
Gideon glanced down at Liam and inhaled deeply.
“Fine” he said, “that’s fine”.
The room was like nothing Liam had ever seen before. It was bigger than any foster home he had ever lived in, and at least ten times the size of the motel room they’d just left. He stood there in awe as he took it all in.
“A fucking double room” Gideon spat, “what a joke!”
Liam wasn’t even listening to him. His eyes landed on the huge double bed, then the giant flat screen TV, the minibar, the sofa, the gigantic window, and before he could stop himself, he was hurtling toward the bed, until he was stopped mid air, and felt Gideon’s hand around the back of his neck.
“Stand where you are” the man said in a voice that made Liam freeze.
The two of them stared at each other as Gideon’s fingers remained around Liam’s soft, warm flesh. In that very moment, something happened. Liam knew instantly that the dynamic of this odd relationship had changed, and the man he was looking up at was certainly in charge.
Gideon almost released him. He hadn’t noticed it before, but there was a stark beauty to the young man whom he had in his grasp. If he didn’t know any better, he would have taken the boy’s reaction as submissive, but he shook the idea from his head and let him go.
“You’re covered in piss” he finally said, breaking the strange silence that had fallen between them.
“Yeah” Liam nodded, his heart pounding and his dick confused, “right”.
“Go and have a bath” Gideon said, “then you can do what you want”.
Liam stepped back, the two of them still staring at each other, and turned toward the bathroom. He was sweating now, but he wasn’t sure why.
“Shit” he groaned as he reached the impressive bathroom, “I don’t have any clothes to change into”.
Gideon considered it for a moment. Neither did he.
“I guess we’ll have to make do” the man said, “I’ll have my replacement cards sent to the hotel in the morning, I’ll pick you up some sweatpants or something”.
“But what do I do until then?” Liam asked, though secretly he knew the answer he wanted to hear.
“We’re both men” Gideon said, gauging the lad’s reaction, “it’s not like we’ve never seen one before”.
A smile crossed Liam’s face.
That was the answer he wanted to hear.
